A guild mate of mine had it drop in shadowmoon valley from one of the eclipsyon guards, seems to be a random (BoP) drop.

Took me a while. I noticed that some spawns are static voidshrieker and some are only unstable voidwalkers. However a majority will spawn either mob so go ahead and kill everything in your path and expect to be there a while. My only complaint was the mobs not being itemized with motes of shadow.

I got mine first kill. Dont use your primary magical damage on the first shot at them. They will put a buff on themselves that will reduce damage by 75% of that spell and also shoot it back at you during the fight. If your a mage use your wards to absorb some of the damage. It isnt much but it helps.

Dropped after about 30 min of grinding, shadow priest, used flying mount to get around faster and find teh right mobs.

Given how significantly easier and cheaper it is, and also given the very small difference 5 resist gives, I say the above link is overall better.

This is, of course, coming from a non-tank.

Imo They Should make this and Arcane resistance one to like +20 percent.. +15 is not fit to be blue recipe.

I knew my luck was bad--took me 58 Unstable Voidwraiths and 90 Voidshriekers. But it finally dropped.

An interesting factoids--if you cast your first spell while the Voidshrieker is casting a Shadowbolt (or other damage spell, I assume), he'll interrupt himself to give himself the "75% damage reduction" debuff. This is usually good, and saves you 600-odd damage--but occasionally bad, if you're soloing them, because he'll interrupt himself, debuff himself, and then fear you. :-) But it's a reasonable strategy for Feral Druids, who can use Feral Faerie Fire effectively as a spell interrupt for one of the Voidshrieker's casts.

I was on a boring quest with my friend and we were killing Voidshrieker and Voidwraiths.. Got mine after 6-7 minute we started :D Very first blue enchant recipe of mine :P

Even easier for a warlock is casting Curse of Tongues to cut down on the amount of fireballs/shadowbolts they throw at you.

They also do not debuff themselves from wand damage.

Non-harmful debuffs put on them also trigger the debuff for that spell school. Be warned.

Interestingly, enslaving them with the different debuffs seems to depict what spells are available on the pet bar at the time you enslave. With no debuff, they keep Shadowbolt, and whilst there is no Fear ability on the pet bar, they DO occasionally fear the mob you send them to attack.

i kid u not 1st kill. started with max rank holy fire, popped shadowform and nuked him down. killed like 3 of the other type before killing the voidshrieker.

Got this on my 5th or so kill. =)

Tip for Blood Elves - especially paladins, open with Mana Tap to switch the Voidshrieker to Arcane, then put on the damage. Don't open with Arcane Torrent, save it to interrupt the annoying Arcane Missiles or fear.

This is probably one of the best enchants for PVP/arenas only b/c all of the other cloak enchants aren't all that fantastic. Stack a ton of shadow resist and those pesky warlocks and shadow priests will be on easy-mode.

About 2 hours of solid farming, then it dropped. As BE shadow priest it was easiest for me to open the fight with Mana Tap so I didn't have to pop in and out of shadow form to use Smite every fight.

for you non blood elf pallys, open with an ez-thro dynamite. you can use the higher dmg version if you really want, but this puts them on fire resist so your holy damage still effects them.

also, since theres a 60 second CD on it... merely having seal of righteousness active does not proc the debuff, just remember not to judge it or holy shock or consecrate or exorcise

Not really worth farming if you already have +10 Shadow Resistance. The Shrieker's fear is a pain in the ass too.

I farmed this over the course of 3 or 4 days. It took me no less than 1134 Voidshriekers to get the enchant to drop.

My strategy, since I was a holy priest, was to tag them with a rank 1 Shadow Word: Pain, and smite them. Took a while, but it works. I didn't bother to kill the other type of mob there because it would take too long, and other people were there farming the mobs for the quest or for Motes of Shadow. I made circles around the island and just went down to kill the important ones.

So yes, you can get it your first drop, or it will take you over a thousand, but if you keep at it long enough eventually you'll get it.

Droprate seems fairly high. Got mine on my 5th or 7th kill. Well, maybe I was just extremely lucky. Anyway, they are easy for any melee class.

Took me less that 10 voidshreiker kills to get this enchant as well. Pretty convenient because I need it for mother sharaz :)

Took me 90 Voidshriekers and 21 Unstable Voidwraiths to get the recipe to drop.
They drop a good amount of Mote of Shadow though, so it's not that bad a farm - I had 5 primals after I was done.

Took me 62 mobs to drop.
As a shadow priest I farmed them without shadowform: holy fire (so he gets holy resist), VT, VE, MF, MF.

I'm a shadowpriest aswell. Took me 10 kills to get the recipe. Best and fastest way to farm them as a s.priest is to hit them with mass dispel first then nuke them with shadowspells. Yeye the dispel costs 700 mana but if you should smite them first then you prob want to get back to shadowform and that will cost you ~ 850 mana. So why have low dps with smite when you're shadow? Nope... Mass dispel + silence and they are dead without problems.

I think this item is about 0,5% droprate, I farmed about 350 Voidshriekers and no one did drop the pattern. I'm enchanter but maybe very unlucky :(

This enchant is needed for the Mother Shahraz encounter (although the lesser version is also adequate).

Went to farm this today, it took some time. With other people doing quests, farming motes or farming the same enchant, the area gets a bit crowded. Since the spawns are a bit scarce and spread out it can be time consuming.

Took me about an hour, I had 7 primals by the time it dropped. I really like this enchant though, for PvP and PvE it comes in very useful.

I know a lot of Holy Paladins have had trouble farming Voidshriekers, so I figured I'd share my rotation.
Keep in mind I'm at about 850 spelldamage, just wearing my normal healing gear.
With SoR up, melee until he casts 2 shadowbolts, then HoJ halfway through the third Shadowbolt. Shock+Judge+Exorcise, should put him under 15% life. Hammer of Wrath.
Since HoJ is on 60 second cooldown, Blood Elf Paladins can replace HoJ with Mana Tap every other time, and do the same cycle.
This is the fastest most effective way I've found to kill them.

funny thing is i went to smv after and in under 20 min i had fel potion recipe/+15 arcane resist recipe :p

man this recipe is a bugger to drop... been farming the last few days on and off..spent up to 3 hours one day and nothing..today 10 kills and it drops wohoo

you will find that some of the voids u kill are static kills and will spawn the same void shrieker where as if you kill the unstable they can sometimes respawn as a voidshrieker...

locks be warned for somereason even after casting fire spell first if ur shadow spec it will still become main resistance to shadow...sp watch the resistance is first

I've just been farming this.. for around 5-6 hours.... man it was a drag... I must have killed around 300 mobs at least.... I guess it just depends on your luck/karma .. so now I should go farm something else and I'll prob. get it right away:)

last time I farmed it I got it after 1-2 hours and the arcane one I got on my first kill... so... a bit unluckier this time I must say...

when farming this I got like 20-30 gold just out of junk.. around 10 green drops and 1 blue one and 8 primal shadow (out of the motes ofc. ).... so yeah.. its very rare:) but you'll get it if you try hard enough:)

I farmed this for 4.5 hours last night while farming the primals I needed for my SR set. I didn't see it drop, I returned today and have been farming for about 1.5-2 hours with a friend and I still havn't seen it drop.

Having pretty awful luck. though I have gotten 17 Primal Shadow out of all of this.

This is a really bad one to farm as a holy paladins.

First, you'll want to make a macro with:/cast judgement
/cast exorcism

Basically, just auto attack with SoR up until it gets to about 50-55% and then pressing the macro should kill the mob the rest of the way.

There is also stunning it then holy shock, judgement, exorcisming all during the stun before it comes out, for an easy kill.

Good luck, it will eventually drop.

I hated this so much, finally dropped after 23 primals and many hours devoted to killing those voidshrikers, but it was worth it.

For frost mages, I'd advise using the s2 gloves to gain extra distance on fireblast, and cast frostbolt first and the moment it casts use fireblast. Your fire blast as it has no air time will actually hit first (making the mob resistant to fire) and the frostbolt would hit like normal. This is as apposed to starting with fireblast whereby the mob has time to get to you by the time you cast frostbolt, which induces spell pushback or forces you to start using frost nova and such skills. Much easier to nuke him down to 50% from practically the first hit.

I am in the process of farming this pattern. So far I've gotten 500 grey drops (that means 500 mobs total), 20 primal shadows, 9 greens, and those greys + normal grey drops sold for 75g to a vendor.

Still no pattern. Thank *!@#ing god I'm a destro warlock and have no downtime.

I finally got the drop. I didn't give up hope, even after my 39th Primal Shadow, and I guess the upside is that I now have enough mats to give my first few enchants. That I can tell, this is not the best mob in the game to farm, and there is only 1 or maybe 2 quests that require you to come here, and with the 1-2 reports on here that people got it on the first drop, I would say 0.3% chance of drop may not be all that ridiculous. It took so long that I many times checked my enchant list and bank to make sure that I didn't already have it. But after about 1200 kills, I finally got the drop. Keep it up guys and gals, it will drop eventually! GL

I'm sure this was in the patch notes somewhere and I missed it, but they appear to have dramatically upped the droprate for outland enchanting patterns. While sitting in LFR queue, I noticed that I was missing a bunch of older recipes from this toon I'd leveled in Wrath. In under 20 kills TOTAL (not even of each NPC), I got:

Resistance is still in game. Resistance enchantments didn't go away, resistance items didn't go away, only enchanter's (alchemist's, etc.) hard won recipes went away. Farmed these recipes back in the day when it was difficult to level enchanting and difficult to farm recipes. It's really a shame to need these (because of OP shadow priests in the 20-24 bracket) and find them all gone.

Need nature, fire or arcane resistance? No problem. Farm Gnomer. Need shadow, though - you're screwed.

All resistance enchants have been removed as drops AND from your enchanting window. Don't try and farm this one after reading the below comments, be perplexed why this particular formula isn't dropping, curiously wise up and search your Enchanting window for "resistance" in-game for the tenth time thinking maybe you got it years ago, and then realize any "resistance" enchants you ever collected are GONE.

If you read other wowhead comments on the green resistance enchants, you'll get further confirmation. Wish I had done that before destroying a few hundred Voidshriekers/Archmages.
