Stalvan Mismantle, to find him, take the road out of town to redridge. Take the first left and he is located in the house. Once you have killed all of the others around him and he attacks be ready because he has a very quick attack time and if your a caster using DOT's use instant or you will never get them off. Exhaustion or a Frost buff of some sort will help.

soloed as a 33 druid... hes only lvl 32 and by himself inside the house... he does leave a nasty curse on you though >.< so take a druid friend if you can :)

The coordinates 77.33 are right. If you're going N out of Darkshire on the road toward Redridge it is your first RIGHT.
Solo'd him as a 30 feral druid. Not that tough, still had about 30% life left. Started with moonfire,switched to bear, popped up for a quick Rejuvenation heal and to reapply moonfire, and he ran. Hit him with moonfire again and he went down.

yes, it is very easy, just make sure you dont attack him while the other things around you are attacking you.

I've seen a couple people post on thottbot that the ring wasn't dropped, with one explanation being to complete the entire quest chain instead of just killing stalvan without a quest.

I completed the entire chain in order, was given the last quest to kill Stalvan & bring the family ring to Eva. Killed him solo, he dropped no ring & the quest disappeared from my log. I had checked the Q-log immediately before pulling him out of the house & the quest was there, but after I looted him & got no ring I checked the log first thing & that quest was gone. Checking back, Commander Ebonlocke has a yellow "!" and is waiting for me to complete my task.

Has anyone else had this problem & gotten it resolved? It was a very enjoyable questline & worth the playtime, but I'd rather not give up the 4100XP if I can help it.

Killing Stalvan is very easy when you are a mage.

My tactic:
1st attack: Frostbolt, to get his attention
--
2nd attack: Cone of cold, to reduce his walking speed
3rd attack: Frost Nova, to freeze him on his place
4th move: Walk away to get enough distance (watch out, dont go to far, otherwise Stalvan will walk back to his house and you can start over again)
5th attack: Blizzard, put the edge of the storm on his place. He will walk right through and taking damage.

When he is almost at your character. Do the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th attack again until he dies.

With this he got no chance to hit you, except of his curses.

offtopic: This fighting method is also easy to kill many attackers or elites =)

I soloed 28 warrior, my tactic did a charge then retaliation, then activated fire hardened mail, then blood rage, then a continueum of herioc strikes :)

He is a lvl 32(undead), he will strike you as soon as you go inside the house.

Did this as a lvl 30 druid. Was kind of hard. first time he came out of nowhere and took me ungard. Second time I was to late with my healing. Then I finaly made it. I used ins healingspell on myself, and then I healed with Healing Touch. I was in catform when I fought him. PS: He tries to run away at the end of his life. Be sure to kill other mobs around before you take him, or he will run in to them.. makes it only harder.

Did as a lvl 30 Pally with mostly retrib talents. As long as you clear the area around tehe shack first, you'll be fine. Buff yourself how you see fit, Judge him with Crusader (to boost Holy dmg taken), and then just spam Consecrate, Exorcism, Judge Righteousness, repeat. I healed once but probably could have made it without.

Just a warning, he does flee so stun him or you may get more adds than you wanted to.

It's a lvl 35 quest, but Stalvan is only 32.

Easily done as a 28 BM hunter: just make sure to have track undead on and clear the adds in the surrounding area. This is how I did it:

1) If you go out of Darkshire to the West (towards Deadwind Pass), you'll find a gate to the left; enter it and follow the road just a bit then turn left towards the undeads;

2) Clear them and clear the 2 on the field near the house and the one in front of the house;

3) Set a trap if you want and type /target Stalvan (this will allow you to target him even without him being on your line of sight as the field is to the left of the house; (no need to clear more mobs this way!)

4) Send your pet to attack him while waiting on the field; as soon as he aggroes your pet, recall the pet and let him run into the trap;

5) Move away to make room and start your pet on him;

6) Serpent sting; auto-shoot for a bit (save your arcane shot for later so as not to out-aggro your pet); Mend pet (Improved mend pet helps a lot by removing his curse!), and then do your normal hunter stuff refreshing the sting and throwing an arcane shot when you can and watching your pet's health.

Be ready to concussive shoot him should he start running at you. Didn't even touch me and didn't cause much trouble to my pet. Then out through the same way and whole thing was done in under 10 minutes counting travel and clear time...

BTW: My pet is a cat for the higher DPS

In short: 5 in Endurance, 3 in Thick Hide, 2 in Focused Fire, 1 in Bestial Swiftness, 5 in Unleashed Fury, 2 in Improved Mend Pet and 1 in Ferocity.

Final note: make sure you don't do this *right* after lvling 28; allow for your pet to lvl to 28 as well so he will be only 4 lvls lower than Stalvan and not 5, meaning less resists and more able to keep Stalvan on him! :;)

Did this as a level 29 assassination spec'd Rogue after just hitting 29.

Way I did it:

a) Clear area around him

b) Wait for him to go into house

c) Stealth and get as close as you can, he can detect you but it will be close enough to keep him in the house.

d) Pop Evasion and start waking away with Sinister Strike.

e) 5x Combo points = Expose Armor from then on use combo points for Eviscerate.

d) Pop a Greater Healing Potion as required.

From there on he runs at about 15% health, he just ran into the wall inside the house and I took him down easily after that, but he is tough as hell.

I had no problem taking him out as a lvl 29 hunter with lvl 28 raptor just heal the pet and shoot. Careful not to draw aggro from pet.

Solo'd as a level 30 priest. Keep bubbling, I only had to heal myself once and use one lesser mana potion as 1/3 of my spells resisted. He does wander when he's on low health so make sure you kill the field corpses around him.

Soloed as a lvl 30 warlock. Put the VW on him and dotted him. I actually had one of the corpses outside attack me mid fight. I just kept the VW and dots on Stalvan and dealt with the add myself. Was no problem, I did have to use a healthstone though.

I soloed this as a level 28 paladin. It was tough but i did it without using any health potions or bandages. If you are not a paladin you can not do this quest until level 30 or higher. I had to use lay on hands which heal 100% health but takes 100% mana. I also had the uber paladin wepon Vergian's fist. He wasn't in the shack he was outside of it i only had to kill one undead guy to get to him. Good luck!!

As a 30 level mage with all tallents in arcane, I cleared the area around the house first then drank water to get my mana fully up.
Hit him with frost bolt to slow him, followed by a fireball then used presence of mind to hit him with another one before he got close. Froze him in place and hit him with arcane explosions as fast as they could cycle until he broke and ran. Chased him arond with more arcane explosions until he died. Used remove curse on myself afterward. Took very little damage which healed itself on the walk back into town.

did this with my 28 paladin and only lost about 50% of hp. its an easy quest with good(especialy in after patch 2.3) rewards, so its really worth doing this questline.

experience is now 4950 at level 32 after 2.3. Fairly easy to do as shadow priest, just clear the mobs around shack, buff up, and then pull stalvan. He has a large agro range and will run at low health.

Did this as a 26 hunter, kited him into town and he was at about 55% when the town guards finished him off for me (I was at about 5% health and mana cos he hit me a few times)

You can find Stalvan Mistmantle at his a lvl 32 and has 3 other people around him kill them first before going after him,but watch out for Stalvan running away at the end. He'll run towards the Fetid Corpses and then you have more to fight at once. Also there is a chest hidden by the Manor at . Not a lot in it, but it's a decent bonus.

you can find the road at 73,32. just keep going and kill some of of the Fetid Corpse guys. he'll be in the house. did it as my lvl 27 druid. if you have a heal spell, keep using it and use your abilities as much as possible

My level 28 hunter easily defeated him, even with the curse of stalvan still in effect. The hunter took most of the damage though, not the pet. Nice Axe!

Killed one guy in the way, ran in, smacked him around a bit, used hammer of justice to keep him from running, killed him. Easy. Didn't even need to heal.

go north out of darkshire, take the first right you see, leads to a house (shows up on the map). loc is ~77, 35

stalvan is 32, aggros at a distance, and attacks very fast and quite hard. he starts running away at around 10% health. i suggest clearing the area as best you can, since adds make this fight that much harder. otherwise it is not that difficult. a pot would be helpful.

i soloed him as a 29 priest, but due to his attack speed i had to pop pws/renewal once.

As I was approaching the shack, I saw Tear of Tilloa (in the garden to the left) for the quest A Noble Brew. Be careful picking it up, it could aggro Stalvan Mismantle out of the shack.

Solo'ed this quest as a lvl 31 Druid with Entangling Roots, Moonfire and Wrath. Easy as 1-2-3 :)

Soloed as a 30 Shadow/Holy Priest.

Not the cleanest kill, but I started with Shackle, cast Holy Fire, SW:P, smite, mind blast.. when he got up to me, I Shielded, healed, feared him, cast SW:P and Holy Fire, and Smited him until I was OOM. At which point I just wanded him to death. (Wand skills ftw.)

He uses two-handed weapons, so he hits fairly hard against clothies, and it's just a constant barrage of melee attacks. Definitely use your shortest casts/instant casts whenever possible. (Mages, frost nova would be your friend here)

Also, there was a solid chest where a previous poster mentioned.

Stalvan runs, also as mentioned, so just kill him quick or clear a few of the mobs around him. (Bonus XP at any rate)

77,36 is a good coord for him. He is located at Mismantle Manor and you will find him in the house, or coming out of it every so often. If you are level 30 or higher you should have little to no problem soloing this quest. He will run when he is low on health, so watch out for him pulling others to you when he does.

The quest item for this is good for warriors, the axe is very nice for a short time.

Solo'd this as a level 30 Drenai Arms warrior. If you go in this alone make sure to bring pots and a stam buff. His attack speed is fast but is not elite. Kiting is a way to kill him if you are in cloth. A very soloable quest. (My mobb actually turned out to be level 31)

Just solo'd him as a level 26 Protection Paladin. It was very tough, but well worth the axe reward which was a huge DPS improvement for me. I used all of my normal paladin buffs, with the Fire Festival Fury buff adding a lot to my DPS. I had to use both bubbles, lay on hands, and a health potion, but I finally got him! I used exorcism once successfully, but this is a gamble and potential waste of mana. Be sure to have bandages with you, as he runs away when you get his HP low, giving you time to heal up and finish off the final chunk of his health. Don't follow him if he runs out of the house, as he does not attract other mobs (or at least, did not for me) and extra adds would probably hurt.

Of course, I could have waited 2 levels and this would have been simple, but not quite as fun!

I just killed him as a 28 holy priest, he hits very fast, and crits alot, luckily im talented to heal damage from crits. I did this with the fire festival fury buff, which REALLY helps as it hit him for 28 damage every time he hit. I had to use desperate prayer, because using Casting time healing spells was impossible, unless bubbled or shielded.
For Priests: Only cast when you have Power Word: Sheild on, because it will almost triple the casting time with his attacks.
This is Probably Easyer for non-casters.

The rewards are great for this quest, but is the ring reward better than Lavishly Jeweled ring ?

Done with 27lvl hunter, but not easy (got killed 5 times for over 10 attempts).
Best tactics is to clear surrounding area from all mobs (they have quite long respawning period), except the one in front of the hut (he's too close to Stalvan and attacking him attracts Stalvan's attention - instead wait until he wanders away).
Stalvan himself usually persists inside his dwelling, but occasionally gets out and stands in front of it - it's much easier to focus him from the distance then and pull him in direction of Darkshire. :)
In case of low health - just flee swiftly SE, to the nearest flight point - Stalvan gives up after short while (this saved my life many times).

Painfully done as a 29 fury warrior. The ghouls nearby throw a 4 minute debuff that reduces attack speed (sucks when you have two rather slow weapons >.< - not much of a selection really). In addition, Stalvan puts up a debuff that reduces attributes by 5.

He hits relatively hard, and when I saw my health going down faster than I would have liked, I popped retaliation. He went down like cake afterwards. No consumables used.

I easily soloed this quest on a level 30 Enhancement Shaman. The 1H axe reward won't do me that much good, as I am strictly using a 2H axe for the Windfury proc.

hunters can solo everything because of pets...without pets a priest could prolly almost beat a hunter. thats probably a bit of an exaggeration but who knowz? maybe some priest could. very easy for a lvl 32 though i solo'd as a lvl 29 druid....had to use my HoT spells like all mobs that are orange for me because i have bad gear but still :) ring is pretty nice since i dont think Druids can use axes. forgot to add something tho :P i love hunters for the very reason that i criticize them.

I completed this quest fairly easily, had a lvl 29 Paladin with me, helped keeping the other lvl 30 beasts off me whilst I killed Stalvan. Definatly a worthwile quest, after all parts of the quest are completed, the exp is well worth it :) Plus, I found that Tear of Tilloa for a seperate quest (Y)

Soloed at lvl 28 as a warrior, just damaging and debuffing until you get to the town (walking backwards) and the guard's will take care of the ~500 hp he's got left.
Herbalist though, which is handy.

Soloe'd as a lvl 30 Kitty Druid. Of course I had used Survival Instincts and Tiger's Fury. He got me to around 300 health. Careful though, he does run when he's at around 20% life. I also had Heirloom pvp shoulders (feral) and the dagger from Emblems of Heroism. It's strangely easy, unlike pre BC.

I was a level 25 Hunter when I did this, I cleared the mobs with a higher level character and then I started doing this epic kiting on Stalvan, I tried kiting him to the town but I didn't get the ring by doing this so instead I kited him up the north path of the town, just keep Con shot up as well as Serpent Sting and Arcane Shotting him while on the move with Aspect of the Cheetah and before you know it he's already dead. Mmmaaahhh!

This is a really easy quest with good experience and a good reward. Just take the first road to the right off the road and you will walk right up to Stalvan. I only had to kill two of the other random guys then mounted and ran away.

soloed as a lvl 29 prot pala, quite a good pala quest as he is undead so u cn use exorcism and (if any extra adds get pulled) turn evil, it wasnt as hard as a lot of ppl make out.. i did it and at the end had about 3/4 of my health without healin or pots

Solo'd as a level 27 feral druid, prowl in, shred, then claw mercilessly. At low health I used entangling roots on him and ran to the other side of his cabin, then threw a few instant cast heals, went back to cat form and finished him off. He attempts to flee at low health which is a nice bonus. Lot of great lore around this questline, although I find the fact hes forsaken puzzling- how did that happen and when?

I cant think of a longer quest chain that requires this much running around. Literally every quest is you running to the next spot, the occasional mob or two, and you're on your way.

Stalvan Mistmantle led a life of depravity. Innocent victims died by his hand. Undoubtedly he is guilty of countless crimes. Now the lunatic threatens Darkshire. The Light only knows what sordid acts he is plotting. Travel to his cottage just north of town, <class>, and execute Stalvan, once and for all.

When the deed is done, travel to Madame Eva's and show her his family ring. After all, it was her premonition that led to this gruesome discovery. But Darkshire is safer because of her.
