I did this on level 52, for being sure, hibernate will not resist better cast 'Entangling Roots' on the Devilsaur, then stab and run :)

Yes this is a typical smash and grab job, if you have it put on natures grasp and run right up to the devilsaur and then run far and run fast because he is coming at you!

The toxin should pacify the creature, though I do not know how quickly...

I thought you also might like to know that the rare spawn Devilsaur King Mosh also counts for this quest.

All you need to do to complete the quest is use the Devilsaur Barb on a devilsaur, you don't need to kill him!

It is really annoying, cause when you are looking for a devilsaur, you cant find them. But when you are not looking for one .... xD

easy quest... just hibernate devislaur and use the barb... using it wont break the sleep efect :)

For those of you who has trouble finding one just make a macro
/target devilsaur and run around on your mount spamming it until you target one.. then it will be nearby.

As a 53 druid, I easily did it by first soothing the devilsaur, throwing rejuvination and regrowth on myself (starts to tick to heal some of damage when he attacks so I could run) stabbing him, rooting him, and going travel form. If the roots come off fast, you will have a head start on him and the heals are ticking on you, but get out of there because they don't last forever :P

I was just doing this quest, and it took me AGES.
I will state some facts that i know would have made it easier for me if i had known :

All Devilsaurs can be "stabbed" with this thing. Ironhides, King, normal, and Tyrant.
They roam the entirety of Un'Goro mostly, except the tar pits.

Tip for hibernating : use barkskin if you are chain-ccing it while waiting for party members.

It seems that this quest has undergone a change - or it was bugged for me. I repeatedly tried to stab all the kinds of devilsaurs that exist in ungoro and all i got was "invalid target" when i rightclicked the fang in the inventory/on the bar. Yes, i had the Devilsaur targeted. Finally, 2 friends tanked the thing while i just spammed the fang desperately. suddenly it worked. Maybe it is now so that it works after a certain % of health - to make the quest harder or something.

Yeah very hard to find i been looking for an hour now. you'd think something so hudge would be easy to find but its not.

Hardest thing about this is a) finding the devilsaur, then b) trying to get it in a decent location without agroing too many other mobs!

Personally, i attempted a failed roots, barbed the thing and attempted to run...failed and died, either way as long as you barb it seems worth a death for the xp and reward from the follow-up q in sunken temple

1. target big monster
2. cast entangling roots
3. check if resisted, if resisted - recast, if not, cast hibernate
3b. if first roots stuck, cast hibernate.
4. run up to it and stab it with the barb
5. cheetah form gogo

For those of you who have never seen a Devilsaur, this is what they look like. I ran around for 30 minutes before I even fonud one, that was the first time I had ever seen one =)

I ran up, some hunter rode past and the Devilsaur attacked him, I cast cast Entangling Roots and ran up and used the barb. He focused on me and I cheetaded away or 20 yards before he cuaght me :S

But still, I got the quest done. Did both this q and the pre-q while waiting for a group for ST to =)

yea--as a druid, i just did hibernate (the spear requires melee) and then i bolted.

before you run-- DO ANOTHER HIBERNATE.. just to be sure

Hibernate isn't reliable until the Devilsaurs are yellow to you (meaning you're 53 or higher), since they are likely to resist it.

I tried the Soothe>Hibernate>stab method, and died because none of my spells would stick. Then, since they have an extremely annoying habit of patrolling through THE most packed areas of Un'goro, I decided to just Travel Form up to him, stab the bastard in the leg (missed the first shot; luckily it doesnt trigger a cooldown, otherwise I wouldn't have got the hit at all), and try (in vain) to run away.

If you're high enough to get your spells to stick, the Hibernate method is a good choice; otherwise, a suicide cheetah run should be sufficient.

You can apply the poison on any of the 3 Devilsaurs in Un'Goro crater. It doesn't have to be 'the' Devilsaur. This also works on Tyrant Devilsaur and Ironhide Devilsaur. Finding them is just a matter of time, take 2 minutes to some, 20 minutes to others.

i did this quest on lvl 50 , had a really hard time to pull a Devilsaur without getting aggro from other mobs , he only resisted one hibernate

I did it at level 50... just prowled up to it, stabbed, turned back into cat form then hit dash to run away as fast as my little legs could carry me! :D

real real easy at 52...just do what everyone says and u won't even get touched by the thing...at least i didn't. hibernate, stab, and cheetah away...far away. oh and waiting till the t-rex gets to place with no mobs is probably a good idea too.

Okay, I was helping someone with this quest, and I think the best place to look is Terror Run. I heard about it when I was looking up something else on WoWWiki. Heard it was full of Devilsaurs, so I'm just reccommending it because I immediately found some there. Terror run is south west of Fire Plume Ridge.

Devilsaur Barb will work on all types of Devilsaurs; Devilsaur, Ironhide Devilsaur, Tyrant Devilsaur and also King Mosh.
The first Devilsaur I found was King Mosh. And as he seems to be Immune to Hibernate it's safer to find another Devilsaur. But if you are a Balance druid, u can use Force of Nature wich summons the 3 Treants, quickly use the Quest item, the Devilsaur Barb, and run away with Travel Form or Cat form and use Dash.

To find the darlings, I suggest making a macro, seeing as they are remarkably elusive for giant, hostile dinosaurs.

Easy (for a night elf)

Get in front of his path, cat form, prowl.
Wait for him.
Stab with barb.
Shadowmeld.

If anything goes wrong, keep hitting hibernate until it sticks. I pulled it off in one try without dying. Everything went according to plan, except he bumped into me (still shadowmelded) 10 seconds later and I had to hibernate him to get away.

One patrols through a pretty good sized area directly north of the quest giver where the mobs are not aggressive (mostly just lashers), so you can do it without adds. It's really close to the northern endpoint of his patrol, so expect him to turn around suddenly.

I found a normal Devilsaur roaming around Terror Run, Hibernated it, stabbed it, then a few seconds after that he woke up i used Nature's Grasp, he was rooted, switched to cat form dashed away then travel form and ran away, never got below 50% health and I was level 51 while it was 55.

At lvl 52 i did the hibernate thing came up behind him cast hisernate stabbed went to cheetah form and ran in the opposite direction worked great no death

Why didn't any one of you just use shadowmeld when running away?
I'm assuming atleast some of you were NE right?

Lvl 51 druid. Found Ironhide around 62,71. He's red elite to me. Hibernate never missed. Did one, ran up to him, stuck him with it, did a second then travel form runaway. He didn't break out of it surprisingly.

As stated before, I can confirm that this quest can be done on any Devilsaur - including King Mosh (whom may be the easiest to find since if he's spawned, he's pretty much always in one place in the Northwest part of the zone).

Though, to those who choose to stab King Mosh like I did, may wanna take off any gear that'll end up getting broken... it really only amounted to a feral charge, stab, and death for me :P

This quest was no problem. I sneaked up on him from behind in stealth, used the thing on him which gonna win the quest, no matter what. Then cast root on myself, which luckly sticked, and used dash to run away. Even if it dont stick i dont think running away whit dash up is gonna be much ofa problem. And even if you die, just collect your body and go turn in the quest :)

Well all of you were just lucky! A Tyrant Devilsaur ran me down. It suddenly came from behind, like it respawned, and started hitting me very hard. Hibernate = nothing worth for me. it wouldn't stick. I died and ressed up at my corpse. Ofc the Barb missed xD. then i found a new devilsaur, which i got killed by once more. 3. time the barb hitted but Q didn't check .....

So i poke to 4 Devilsaurs before my Q was done and then i waited around 2 weeks before getting into ST >.<

The toxin you helped me create is for a special purpose. The great devilsaurs of the crater make it dangerous to hunt and difficult for me to survive. Even if I possessed the necessary strength, killing a devilsaur simply allows another to move into its territory.

Take this poisoned barb and stab it deep into a living devilsaur. The toxin should pacify the creature, though I do not know how quickly...
