To do this quest chain:
It is recommended you have a soulstone, healthstone, and a few health pots. Drink your shadow potion at the beginning of Jaednar (no one will attack you, they are all green) & walk to Lord Banehollow at the end of Shadow Hold...which takes about 10 minutes or so. Talk to him, go back to the hollow part of the cave where the bridges are and look for Ulathek the Traitor in one of the rooms. Take out your VW, if you have not already...Talk to him & go through the dialogue. About 4 guards will attack you along w/ Ulathek. Focus fire on him & make sure VW area taunts. When he is dead, loot him. You can keep taking out the guards if you like, but I just ran away...you don't need to kill them. The only health pot i used was when I ran. Run back to Banehollow, speak w/ him, then purchase some dust from the guy behind him. BE SURE YOU HAVE 150gold BEFORE DOING THIS! Purchase the Xorothian Stardust < hearthstone > Then fly to Burning Steppes and turn in the quest.

FYI the oozes in Shadow Hold do not become friendly to you. They aren't a big deal though of course.

this was very easily soloed as a 60 affliction. managed to go in, complete the quests, kill the dudes, and mine 2 nodes and still get out with 4 minutes left on the cloak. the hardest part was letting go of 150g.

I just finished this quest using my voidwalker (lvl 61) and I have zero talent points in demons. It was very easy, not a prob or even a close death. Didn't use pots, didn't use healthstone or soulstone either. Anyway, thought I would put coords in for Ulathek, since I didn't see them here.

Ulathek coords: 41,48

He's not in the main cavern, but in the spiral with the small attached rooms on your map.

When you get to the oozes that WILL attack you, jump up on the ledge and stay left. You CAN skirt around the left side untouched.

60 Affliction solo with VW. As noted, make sure your VW taunts and you'll be fine. Just DoT em up and they drop like flies.

Remember that it's not the first cave when you reach Jaedenar, but the one past it! It will say "Shadow Hold" when you enter the correct cave! Just continue past the first cave and go through a winding path. You'll see a GREEN POOL at the correct spot, and the real cave near it.

Remember to bring 150g with you to buy the quest item (no other way around it)!

The traitor is rediculously easy for a lvl 60 demonology warlock, i did use my voidwalker, but i did also hav improved voidwalker with all of his abilities at their maximum level, all u gotta do is stand on the small bone pile next to the traitor and then begin the event, send ur void in against him and Suffering should hit everyone, just DO NOT HIT SUFFERING, let him use it himself, he will use it wen they begin hitting u, this will ensure the suffering hits everyone.. then just curse of agony, corruption, immolation, death coil and 1 shadow bolt. Boom. he's dead.

remember this whoole quest will cost at least 156 gold because of the potion in addtion and for some dust u will have 2 buy later on from the dude standing next to Lord Banehollow once you have the money the rest of the quest you will have to do here is gonna be cake

Very easy questline. As a 60 Affl Loc walked behind ulathek sacked VW then popped out another. After that talked to ula he attacked and I made VW suffering (I took off auto cast to prevent premature suffering). Then it was just a matter of killing one after another.

I think that the hardest part in this quest is actually getting to Jaedenar :-P

need to pop HS and fly there, as there is no easy portal (unless you have a mage iwth ya)

I soloed this q as a level 60 lock, with several items from outland. When i went to the traitor, i feared one mob and killed the other 2, then the traitor and then the other mob i feared. Note that one potion is enough to do both qs, but hurry up. I didn't aggro any oozes, just the succubus, but don't worry about that. Be sure to have 150g!!

Have on you 150g at least before you start this.
Maybe you thought you were over with Felwood, think again, go to Jaedenar, drink your shadowy potion so mobs turn green, at the very north part of Jaedenar there is a cave Shadow Hold enter, now you have to run for about 10 mins till you find the npc you need to talk, at the very end of shadow hold

if you've just started this quest to get the mount, then simply abandon it and go buy the riding skill for 540g from a trainer...
If you believe that you're gonna save money, then simply FORGET IT...
I did this quest foolishly thinking I'd save some money...
Now I have just completed it and let me give you some stats...

someone who does this quest will spend...
about 1500g(depending on server, but always at least 600g), about 25-30hours questing...
2-3 hours looking for groups to scholomance and dire maul
AT LEAST 10 times of death during the last fight at the last quest...
1-2 weeks of waiting until someone sells black dragonscale at the AH...

someone who doesn't do this quest will spend...
561g
and will have the mount in less than 30 seconds.

don't even think that you can save money...
you won't even save 1 copper...
abandon it while you can!

First get the q than buy Shadowy Potions from Gorzeeki Wildeyes (its a npc near the q giver, potions cost 6gold)

go felwood.

the true coords of cave is 35,4 58,8

use the Shadowy Potion while u are entering the cave.

just fallow the way till the and of the cave u'll see the Lord Banehollow.

DON'T FORGET TO GET POTIONS and 150 GOLD WITH YOU...!

Before you head in to Jaedenar, make sure you have 150g to buy Xorothian Stardust from Ur'dan (the orc standing to Banehollow's right). You'll need the dust for the continuation of the quest chain.

DONT DO THIS QUEST! This quest is the original Dreadsteed quest from before all of the patches that allow you to get your epic land mount at 40. You'll be paying all the gold for nothing and waste a bunch of time. Hopefully you read this before you flew out to burning steppes because that was a waste of time too.

Use the potions to travel through Jaedenar in Felwood, and speak with Lord Banehollow inside the Shadow Hold.

Mor'zul says that you want to open a portal to Xoroth. To do that, you'll need Xorothian stardust. That's not easy to find on Azeroth!

There is one being who might have some: Lord Banehollow in Jaedenar, the seat of the Shadow Council! Speak with him and he might part with the stardust.

But if you're going to Jaedenar, then you'll need to cloak yourself in the Shadow Council's own flavor of evil. That will require some of my shadowy potions, and that will cost you...
