The giants roam the coast south and a little north of the quest giver. They can also be found out in the water if you swim under. Easy to kill them and find them but try to grab quest called Fuel for the Zapping and do the two quests at the same time.

If you do this quest and Mountain Giant Muisek at the same time you can kill two rocks with one stone :)

Be wary of having a giant behind you. The ultrashrinker affects everything within range, and two used-to-be-elites can kill a squishy priest really fast.

This was about as simple as they come I was onlt a level 46 when I did this quest and the mob's are level 47-49 very simple quest I recomment you do it at alone for the xp I was getting 100+ in a group and 300+ by myself

Dont bother with the elite giants, 5k life or 4k with 3k mana ... So not worth it. Just to the cliff giants.

Is anyone else having problems with the Ultra-Shrinker disappearing? I've done this quest two times and after awhile I can't find it in my bags anymore. Is this a bug? Or is there some sneaky devil who keeps coming to my computer and deleting it?

Yes. 2 Hour duration.

This quest is a riot. It's hilarious to watch them all big and bad and then they run at you while shrinking. :)

It seems like any giant in Feralas works. As stated above, Horde can do Mountain Giant Muisek (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3127) at the same time as this quest.

The zapper does not trigger the global cooldown, which I found very helpful as a caster. It does have a 30 second cooldown, though, and it took about 20 seconds on average to kill a zapped giant as a level 50 shadow priest.

The zapper disappears after 2 hours. If you started the quest, you have to abandon it and get it again. When you abandon the quest, any Miniaturization Residue you collected disappears.

Instead of saying "Use:Zap a Feralas giant into a more managable size", I'd say, "Use:Shrinks a Feralas giant to a smaller size, and makes it normal ." e.i., the quest's incredibly easy as a level 47 hunter.

Didn't notice if this was mentioned above but the zapper can actually chain, i found it a bit more interesting :D to aggro 2 and then use it, they both get the anti elite effect.

With my frost mage I found the sea giants along the Forgotten Coast to be annoying and tricky to take down. They have a high resistance to frost and hit hard (yes even as non-elites). At least the elementals in the same area don't hit that hard.

Here's something interesting! If there are a couple giants near one another, and you shoot one, the "transmogrify" beam will hit one and then bounce to the others, much like Chain Lightning. I am not sure how many giants it can hit at once, but it can definitely shrink at least two at the same time.

So you get the quest from a lil goblin near the coast. Up and down that same coast are Wave Striders you can kill that will drop the Miniaturization Residue. I started doing this .... until i realized the other quests i had.

If you go to 41, 21 in the Twin colossals, there are Giants up there you can zap and kill. They drop Metallic Fragments as well as the Miniaturization Residue. AND if you have the Muisek quests, you can get the Mountain Giant Muisek from them as well.

THREE quests done in one area.
PLEASE go up to 41,21 and dont waste yer time on the shore.

Get the water elemental cores later... most of those you can get without even going in the water. This saves you water breathing potions, or recasting the water spell for locks.

Just a quick note about the quests for Metallic Fragments and Mountain Giant Muisek; these are Horde quests only. If you are Alliance it is much faster to get this quest done on the coast. And while you're there, pick up Fuel for the Zapping as well.

The coordinates are 39,21 for the giants.

You can also get Ironfur livers and Groddoc livers for the quest "Rhapsody's Kalimdor Kocktail" from Hinterlands in this area. But they are a little easier to get around 58,56.

As stated before, the zapper disappears after 2 hours. I didn't know this, found the giants and had to go back and get the zapper. Made me pretty mad.

I found a glitch that I didn't see posted already: if you zap the giants in the water and fight them while floating in the water (they are on the seabed), they can't hit you. I only discovered this on my last 2 kills so I didn't play around with it much, but both times neither giant hit me once. I should mention that I brought the giants close enough to shore that their heads were sticking out of the water but I was still in deep enough to be swimming -- don't know if that makes a difference or not tho.

Just in case anyone was wondering, you CAN Zap a giant after entering combat, just tested it out. So don't worry if you accidentally pull one before you can Zap it.

The zapper can also zap more than one giant at the same time, as long as they are relatively close to each other.

To elaborate even further, if you are a frost mage i highly suggest doing this quest with cliff giants as the sea giants will give your frostbolts a hard time.

And to Warlocks, or people who forgot to zap them, when you zap them they will retain any debuffs/buffs and have the same % of health they had before being zapped.

As a 46 Frost Mage, I thought this was a simple quest, minus the part where they're immune to Frost Bolt. They are not always immune to Frost Nova though, so I just Fireball'd them, Frost Nova, then do some arcane missles and Fire Blast. Pretty simple and didn't take a lot of time either; just the way I like 'em!

The 30 second cd on this thing makes me want to kill myself. Whomever is doing this quest or the followup just for the rep has to have Chinese relatives, or I don't know how you can cope with this &*!@.

For those who are doing the Insane in the Membrane achievement; I suggest you to avoid this repeatable q since only the first time grants you with 375 reputation, the follow ups give only 25 reputation and the 30sec CD is way too long.

Still DM seems like the best option to gain the cartel reputation up to neutral/friendly again if you have still quests in BB/rachet etc.

The perfect spot to get the best bang for your buck is at . It's a nice big mound you can stand on, next to a spawning point for a bunch of Cliff Giants and Land Walkers. You can get a good view of the area and pick your targets before using your zapper.

Just watch out for the ones that might sneak up behind you while you're aiming. Chain-pulls on these guys are a pain.

Oh yes - and unless you have more armor than God, wait to zap the Land Walkers until they're less than 10 yards away. It's a WHOLE LOT easier to nail them in melee than when they're throwing boulders at you.

As of 3.3, it seems that the giants along the coast are no longer valid for this quest. I tried to use the zapper on 5 or 6 different giants there and red text came up on my screen that said I needed to find a valid target.

Not sure if this was different before this build, but thought I'd put it down as of 3.3.

The residue still drops even after a giant has left combat and reverted back to its original form, provided it has been zapped once in its lifetime.
This was handy when the shrinker's duration ran out and I didn't wanna tarnish my "zero abandoned quests" record. Just had to make a DK, zap 15 of 'em, relog then kill 'em :D
Granted, it does mean killing them as elites. Though I was level 58 so this didn't pose a problem :P

Just a friendly reminder so people don't have to redo the entire quest like I did. The quest item only last 2 hours, so don't do this quest if you're getting tired and wanting to go to bed; Because waking up in the morning to find out that you have to kill 15 more giants isn't fun.

As of the current patch, this NPC cannot be found anywhere along the coast.

This NPC IS indeed at 48, 44 in Feralas, and offers both quests Zapped Giants and Speak with Prospector Stonehewer to obtain Diagrama: Rojão Rabo-de-cobra,

I'm going to have to do something about the giants if I stay out here! They're certainly not good for business, now are they?

I've been working on a variant of a gnomish shrinking ray, but I'm using superior GOBLIN technological advances in its construction! In an effort to avoid inconveniences for myself such as death, I'd like for you to try it out on any of the giants in Feralas. You should find miniaturization residue on them after you shrink them - bring me back some!
