Had to do some killing for mine but a warlock dropped it I would suggest doing the Bloodsail Buccaneers at the same time.

Pretty Boy Duncan dropped the eye for me, the guy in the cove just north of Booty Bay.

Just killing some Bloodsail's for Snuff. A 43 Bloodsail Buccaneer dropped they eye for me as well as some snuff. Cord: 31, 79.

The by far best way to complete this quest is to take it as early as possible (after doing the prequisite http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=597) and then letting the quest hang along whilst you do other pirate quests - eventually you'll get yours - it can be a quite annoying grind though, I completed near all the pirate quests and did grind some 50 mobs aswell before I got mine but I guess I just had bad luck seeing as on all my other characters I got it on the first or second kill. The drop rate definitely isn't 1% though - it's more by far.

The eye is a random drop off a Bloodsail - mine dropped from a Mage - it's not just Pretty Boy.

Co-ords for me was 31.6 ; 79.2

Horrid drop rate for me, I'm on around my 50th kill with no luck, although the XP is good.

I'd say it's worth doing if your up for a nice grind.

When I read about the quest here and about how horrible the droprate was, I was pretty surprised to see it drop on first kill. So I guess you others have just been very unlucky :(

Mine dropped off Brutus, standing at the helm of one of the ships, I am guessing he has a high drop rate.

i wasn't having any luck until i found a 43 named Brutus aboard a ship (32,88)

For me as well,... brutes dropped the eye. Lvl 43 elemental... verry easy

Well dizzy's eye i got from a warlock on my 5th kill so the drop rate is totally random, funny i got mine at 32-77!

Brutus does drop this. He dropped it on the first kill after I had killed about 40-50 regular bloodsail's.
So try your luck on him might be worth it.

Brutus: 33.88.
He can be found on the single ship.

Dropped from Brutus on the ship at 32.88 if you are a rogue i'd suggest getting a 4 combo expose armor attack on him early since your hits will only do 15-30 each hit

I went for Brutus on the single ship but a mage (first person I killed when getting aboard) dropped his eye. I had only previously killed the two guys on the island, just before getting on the ship.

Brutus seems to have a very good droprate. so if your done with the snuff quest, go and find him to get the eye.

Garr Salthoof dropped it first kill for me. Another named mob, so probably a decent drop rate, although I haven't checked yet. He is below deck on the ship furthest west. (The ships with the captain's on them.)

Wow. I wa just reading through all of this and thought I'd have a grind to go through. But the eye dropped off of a warlock after only like 3-4 kills. So Brutus may have the highest drop rate, this is proof it can drop from any of them.

If you haven't got the eye during your kills for "Up to Snuff" then I suggest going for Brutus. It certainly will save a lot of stuff in your home from getting destroyed in frustration after endless killing of Bloodsail pirates!

I guess I got lucky, I got it from a Bloodsail mage, second kill. I was all prepared to go fight my way to brutus single-handed and what not and second kill there it was. I was like "Dame that was fast!"

Word of warning - as a lvl 42 rogue with two-dagger melee I found Brutus quite hard. He kicked my arse the first time round and had to sprint off.

In the end I started with an Ambush, used my Mechanical Whelpling to help.

Sinister Strikes have virtually no effect on this guy, neither does Eviscerate - so get your combo points up to 5 and use Rupture instead. Also Garote and Backstab as much as you can. In hindsight, maybe wait until you're about lvl 44 and trying this.

That's just my view as a 42 rogue anyway - you may end up finding it easy and I was just having a bad day!

His location is 33,88
He also dropped Snuff, and a green.

Went for Brutus as a 42 Pally, my melee damage didn't do much damage at all on him, so I just kept concecrate down and did as much spell damage as possible. Dropped the eye on my first try, I had already killed about 20 pirates with no drops.

If you're unlucky getting the eye with other pirates, your best bet is to kill http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=2551 as others have said, he is a brilliant drop rate, not too sure if it's 100%, but it's still a better drop rate than others.

Got it off Bloodsail Raider while doing the snuff quest.

To everyone QQing about drop rates etc, think about it like this: Just kill whatever you are doing for the tons of other quests in this area and more likely than not you will have the item drop.

You can do this quest along with Up to Snuff and The Bloodsail Buccaneers(Part 4). Saves you some time!

The eye drops every where on BB but you need patiens then i checked wowhead and 2 mobs from brutus a BB dropped it i spend almost 5 hours killing BBs i almost gave up. so just go too "brutus" from the beginnig.

I was omw going to try to down brutus, when I noticed hes a level 43 and I couldn't down him as a 38 warrior, so I turned around an a bit ticked off killed a mob in front of the boat. It dropped the Q-item ^^

awesome tips thnkx guys im a level 40 hunter i solo'd with me and my cat killed the two sailors on deck then went up to brutus who is level 43 feeling pretty good right now lol

Solod Brutus with 37 shaman. Dropped eye first kill. Just cleared the boat then pulled him directly to the left of the ramp as to not agro any surrounding mobs. Set down my totems and cycled Earth shock > Water Shield > Earth Shock > Water Shield > LHW. This kept up with the damage he was doing and kept me with enough mana. I ran low at the end and was getting behind on health so I kicked on GotN. Between fire totems, shocks, and windfury procs, his health ticked away pretty well. It did take a while, however, as my melee did not do very much.

im a level 40 priest dizzys eye just dropped from a bloodsail mage while i was doing the quest up to snuff but on another toon brutus was a good drop rate for the eye

I was just doing the snuff quest before I was to head to kill brutus, and it dropped from a warlock at the southern tip of stranglethorn. *EDIT* Only killed about 12 or 13 bloodsail pirates.

i just accepted this quest today and cant complete it. i have the piracy buff from the bloodsail buccaneers that makes me friendly with them. i need to kill one of them to get dizzy's eye. is there another quest line i need to complete first to get the buff removed ? please help me. i cant finish my loremaster achievement without this zone completed first.

What I did to complete it, was I had a guild member help me out. Since you should already be recruited by the buccaneers, you cannot kill them. I put a guild member in a group, and changed the loot to free-for-all. I ended up looting the eye after a few kills. But remember, this quest obsolete. Hope this helps.

Avast! Who goes there?

Argh, I am but useless without me special enchanted eye. Bad enough to have lost me eyes in battle in the first place! But by some stroke o' luck we docked in Menethil and a traveling wizard enchanted a special glass eye that let me see again.

Last night I ended up gettin' jumped by some Bloodsail Buccaneers on me way out. Took me eye, they did! Seems those blokes have found their way to Booty Bay.

Help an old sea dog out by gettin' me eye back?
