I did this quest very easily with about 20 people - I'm sure you'd be fine with less. The most important thing to do is keep Davil Lightfire and Captain Redpath alive. Have the raid leader use the built-in symbols to mark them when they show up to make it a lot easier to keep track of where they are.

Did that quest in trio : 60 pala , 60 war, 60 dr00t
dont have even normal green gear.
The point is : at the end u don't have to slain Corrupted Redpath,
we tried to kill him but he dissappeared in next 10 min
although u can die SH quite close so its not so serious.

Tried to solo it as a lvl 63 protection/retribution pally in all greens - didn't work. Should be possible in a couple of levels though.

did it with 5 players
but a well organized trio can handle it too
1) a tank that knows to hold aggro
2) a mage that knows how to aoe
3) a healer that knows to keep these two alive

2-3 waves includes elite minibosses
expect these waves a mage and a priest can handle easly until last wave where corrputed comes
for these minibosses and last wave you need a tank that knows to keep aggro so that redpath is being kept alive.
A funny quest that gives decent Agent Dawn rep. Some mobs give +1 a few gives +5 so all in all roughly 250~500 rep totally.

P.S chest you need to open with the key given to you is behind Pamela.

Dont miss the fun and do this quest at least once :)

Done it with 4 people,me(lvl 59 MM hunter),a lvl 61 holy pala,a lvl 61 frost mage and a lvl 60 BM hunter.Easy and fun :),it gives you a lot of AD repuation and quiet nice rewards(they sell for about 3g at the vendor all together and the amulet is good for spelcasters).Tip:before doing this quest capture the crown guards tower to have a graveyard near the area,in case someone dies so that he can ress quickly.

If you fail you must abandon the quest and accept it again.Just remember thet the NPC who gives it is Chromie in the WPL and not Carlin Redpath in EPL.

my friend and i needed this on our warlocks, so she started it and i solo'd it all on my 70 paladin.. after logging back over i was able to talk to the ghost on my warlock and finish the quest.. quite easy~

Totally soloed with a well-geared prot warrior, T5/T4.

Focus your attention on Davil Lightfire and Captain Redpath, taunt the mobs off them, and don't pay attention to other NPC.

The "bosses" aren't really tough.

As of 2.2, You can not heal Redpath at all with any druid spells or bandaging. Don't know exactly when this was changed.

myself 70 enhancment shammy and a 56 shadowpriest managed to do this by ourself, altho it was no easy pickings, so if u wanna do this with a friend make sure his lvl 70 and preferbly can heal a little, dont have to be resto/holy, but some healing would make it alot easier. and i did pop all my cooldown abilities, that include both elemental totems

Easily soloable by lvl70 holy paladin. Just move to mob groups and consecrate. That keeps the NPC's alive and they kill the mobs for you. Just heal yourself once in a while.
Had to drink three times. (after the mini bosses)

2.3 turned this quest into what it probably should have originally been as the 5-man quest way back when. All of the minions of Horgus are now non-elite when they used to be elite and Horgus himself is only a normal elite now instead of being boss worthy himself. Only the Bloodletters at the end are elite for the regular mobs and Redpath was considerably downgraded as well.

This quest no longer requires a raid or a really good 5-man to do. Now just about any 5-man group should be able to come in and complete it.

just soloed it today on a 70 prot warrior with so-so gear (mix of blue/epics)
took a LONG time, and 2 deaths but it kept the line going and i was able to down the evil redpath in about 2min of nonstop tanking him. kinda interesting i never tried this quest before now (but wow, i woulda been massacred if i had)

59 Shadow Priest and 70 Shadow Priest were doing just fine on it, until we forgot about Redpath and he died.

Otherwise, a decently geared 70 should be able to help you 2-man this quest that used to take about 10 in the olden days.

This was quite easily solod by a 70 (I think I was shadowstep at the time) rogue.

I tanked as many mobs as I could so that the NPCs would not die. It was very easy until the Bloodletters came, they were a bit tougher, but were still no considerable challenge.

It was a very fun event and everyone ought to do it!

edit: This quest also gave me 1,000 Argent Dawn reputation upon completion.

Not a cakewalk to solo.

Basically there are three 'battle lines'. The main battle line is on the road into town. The second battle line is up on a hill to the right, within view of the main battle line. The third battle line is not in your primary line of sight, but if you draw a line due east from the center of town, you will see another small hill where there is fighting.

Captain Redpath will actually rotate between all three battle lines, which means you need to follow him around. While the other battle lines don't spawn elites like the main battle line, Captain Redpath can still take a lot of damage over time if allowed to tank the trash mobs, especially if they are allowed to back up, or if the other defenders are killed.

Your first challenge will be Horgus the Ravager, since you need to kill him as soon as he spawns. The reason being is he has an aura that will do damage to all friendly targets in range, which can markedly reduce how long the other defenders live if you don't kill him fast. He will show up on the main battle front, and you will hear the 'noise' of his aura happen every second, which should make you notice that he is there. He looks like a zombie type of mob, like the flayers in the zone.

The next challenge will be the 'bloodletters', which are elite and continually spawn. You need to be able to get these mobs off him fast if you are going to succeed. That means a tank with a taunt or some kind of pet with a taunt. You can't rely on just out damaging Captain Redpath, since every hit he takes is one hit closer to him dying. These Bloodletters have 11K health, so you won't be able to insta-kill these mobs. You are best to set him up as a focus target and then target his target, taunt, and then repeat once he changes targets.

Even with L70's helping, I would suggest that you have 3-5 people there to make it run smoothly. A healer is mandatory for the most part unless you have heal spells.

If you fail the quest, you don't have to abandon and re-accept the quest from Chromie. Just head to Light's Hope Chapel and talk to Carlin Redpath, he will have a chat bubble asking if you want another relic bundle.

A level 58+ Frost mage will have no real trouble with soloing this quest.

Firstly kill anything that goes for Davil or Redpath.
Otherwise you can ignore most the other critters.
(I only killed the ones at the main (Road) entrance just to waste time)

Horgus will die very fast if you focus on him.

After Redpath is corrupted pull him away from the front and kite him around.
If there is a lot of undead with him wait until they are distracted with a newly spawned guard and then pull him.

He will take a while but as long as your smart with your kiting he will die long before he lands a hit on you.
(I kited him between the graveyard and Pamela's house, blinking through him when needed)

Soloed this at 59 as a tankadin. Getting to the end was no problem, but using every trick in the book I couldn't even get close to killing Redpath the Corrupted, so I sat down and started reading everything I could, seeing if maybe there was a strategy that might work to kill him.

Of course, eventually he despawned, but for whatever reason, him and Davil both appeared in the town square and I was able to complete the quest.

Long story short, if you can solo your way to the end, you don't actually need to defeat Redpath, just wait for him to despawn.

The full quest chain:

Villains and Heroes do both need to be completed in order to get Marauders. However, Defenders of Darrowshire (the Uncle Carlin chain) does not need to be completed in order to get to The Battle of Darrowshire.

Other notes on this. Duo'd with a 65 frost mage and a 58 resto shaman. Once Redpath dies, do not abandon the quest unless everything despawns. He died and I unknowingly abandoned the quest, thinking I'd failed, but everything continued to spawn. You will need to look for the Corrupted Redpath and defeat him when Captain Redpath despawns, as his death is scripted into the event. Keep him up until he despawns, however, as letting him get killed by the NPCs will fail the quest. The two ghost NPCs spawned after we'd killed Corrupted Redpath, and everything else despawned, leading me to believe that the quest was not failed to begin with. In fact, everything would *not* despawn until Corrupted Redpath was dead. That includes the Darrowshire Defenders; they kept spawning regardless of there only being the undead mobs around.

You can heal both Davil and Redpath. If you are a shaman, you can hit either of them with Chain Heal and it will jump to members of your party. However, you cannot hit your party members with Chain Heal and expect it to jump to either Davil or Redpath. Also, you can die during this fight, and as long as Redpath or Davil are still alive when you resurrect, you should be able to finish (there was one point where both the mage and I died, but the battle continued).

There are many opportunities to rest and get mana while you are completing this quest, so I would suggest taking every opportunity possible. You should, however, be careful of the Bloodletters; they hit really hard (they were hitting my shaman for about 500-700 in mail) and move rather quickly. However, they (and Corrupted Redpath) are susceptible to snares (Frost Shock, Earthbind, etc.).

Edit: Upon further investigation, Chain Heal will jump from party (and non-party) members to both Davil and Captain Redpath. It is still limited by the range thing, though, so if you're doing this with a bunch of ranged people, you may be better of with LHW/HW instead of Chain Heal.

I went in as a level 61 protection warrior, figuring I'd test the waters a bit. A level 70 holy paladin came along a few minutes after the start, and we completed the event together. The most important thing is to focus on the task at hand. You do not need to aggro as many mobs as possible and nuke them all into oblivion. The fight consists of three stages: defending Davil and destroying Horgus, defending Redpath and finally, destroying Corrupted Redpath. As of 2.3 (most likely), the NPC's can be healed. This is a huge help, as you can now keep the elites alive a lot easier.

During the first fase, there's Marauding Zombies and such running around, which aren't very strong and go down quickly. After a while, Minions of Horgus will start popping up, which are a bit tougher, but still no real threat. Just follow Davil around and help him fight stuff. Nothing should go wrong at this point. Once Horgus pops up, take him out. His aura, which deals a bit of shadow damage every few seconds, is both annoying and convenient. As it hurts the npc's, too, he'll draw aggro and be overwhelmed quickly.

After Horgus is defeated, Davil will get a sudden heart attack and bite the bullet. After a bit of fighting, Cap'n Redpath shows up. The undead respond by sending in the Bloodletters, which are elite, and hit around 150 on the sword 'n board. They also perform Rupture, lasting 12 seconds and ticking for around 100 damage. Soon enough, Marduk the Black will show up and corrupt Redpath, causing Corrupted Redpath to join the fight. The bad way to handle this, is to pull every bloody undead in sight and attempt to smack 'm all down. The defenders will be getting overwhelmed at this point (especially if there's just two of you), which results in a rather painful battle.

The more subtle method of pulling Corrupted Redpath with a gunshot and taking him out on his own, while the Bloodletters and corrupted militia and such massacred the defenders 100 yards away from us. The battle ends as Corrupted Redpath is defeated.

Be warned: This is a pretty long battle. Stage 1 (defending Davil) is short enough, but stage 2 (defending Redpath) takes a very, very, very long time. I (70 Tankadin) was in a group with a 70 resto Druid and a 64 hunter, and the battle took over half an hour. I was starting to think the quest was bugged and the zombies would never stop spawning. *rocks back and forth shivering*

Not a bad quest. It's probably much harder at level 60 to tackle it solo.
Piece of cake for a level 70 protection warrior.
The Bloodkillers, i think they were called like that can do pretty nasty damage. I think it's best to kill those fast or they'll kill the friendly npcs rapidly.
The last mobs takes a while, it's good plan to pull him towards the elite guards. When he gets low on health he'll fear npcs on occasion. Nothing to be worried about if it already went quite well.

Rewards aren't that good ofc, unless you don't have TBC I suppose. Rewarded with a 1000 Argent Dawn rep was nice at the end of the chain.

Funny how Blizz to decides to make this quest solo-able for a 60-70. While the other Raid quest in Eastern Plaguelands, with the 2 dogs, will still need a couple of good geared level 70s.

For those who mess up on the quest and thought to restart it. it takes a VERY LONG time before the one you started first to finish. I did this while in the middle of it and it glitched it to where it wont summon any npc with a name and i think i screwed my realm for those who want to do this quest chain

Just soloed this with ease on my 70 feral dps/tank druid.
Just stick near the named NPCs and make sure they don't die. When corrupted Redpath appears, beat him down quick. The new talent Berserk and the Swipe doing more damage and hitting all targets in melee range really do make this a cakewalk.

The best part, for me, was that it still felt pretty epic, even doing it solo!

Appears to be bugged. The event is going on endlessly on Malygos-US. Davil and Redpath are nowhere to be found, and the spawns of Bloodletters, Betrayers and Defenders never stop.

Did this on 10/28/08 as a 70 enhance shaman, very easy. The quest bugged though with the appearance of the corrupted Redpath and I had 2 of him that I had to fend off. Called in an argent pally for kicks, the bubble hearth is priceless.

I could have probably done nothing until the elites came out, never needed to heal either Davil or Joseph, but they are healable in case you bite off more than you can chew.

I tried this as a 58 Prot Paladin without any high expectations, but I made it ! Just kill the named one. Bring Joseph Redpath near Defenders so the will help you. Use Turn Evil on him for fear. Was a blast! =)

This is a pretty fun and active quest. First off, you will want all of your party members to be at least around 57 or higher (reccomended 60+ would be best) (if you have a level 65+ friend who wants to tag along, it makes it a helluva lot easier). Otherwise, have at least one AoE mage, a good healer or two (with reviving capabilities), and a tank (death knights work well)

When you start, there won't be any major enemies. You will have many NPC allies that are capable of killing about 1 1/2 to 2 enemies before their health is exhausted. Aid them in their fight against the scourge. Eventually, Davil Lightfire will appear (he's easy to find, he has a blue smoke rising from him). PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS. He is a 60 elite, I believe, so he is perfectly capable of defending himself from up to two or three enemies. However, occasionally he will bound off towards a larger group of enemies. Follow him and use your AoE mage's powers to ward off the enemies so you can pick them off easier.

When NPCs with the word "horgus" in them start to appear (forgot their exact names), you know you're close to your first objective.
Once Horgus (the Devourer?) appears, have someone protect Davil (probably your AoE mage, just to keep him alive) while everyone else charges to Horgus. Kill him soon and you won't have to worry about Davil, who afterwards collapses from his wounds anyways.

Now there will be a brief period with simply enemies attacking, like the beginning. Aid your allies in the fight until Captain Redpath appears (he will also have a bluish smoke surrounding him).

Halfway through the second objective, elite monsters will start appearing. Wipe these out, but don't let your eyes off of Redpath, who may run off to take on a group of monsters without warning. When Redpath the Corrupted appears, leave a guard or two on the Captain (once again, your AoE mage is the best choice) and target him and only him. Once he dies, defeat any remaining Scourge and talk to the man in the town square, then to the girl in the back of the village.

Also, it is important to keep an eye on your health- the fight is long, and you will tend to get carried away in it. Watch your health and make sure your healer is always prepared. A good first aid skill benefits everyone, too.

Check during the battle that there are Defenders alive to the east (36-84), sometimes you have to give them a hand.
Keep Captain Redpath alive.
When Redpath the Corrupted spawns pull him immediately to that spot so that those Defenders engage with him. (don't bother with the rest of the battle at this point, just concentrate on Redpath the Corrupted)
Even if you die it's only a few paces to your corpse, meanwhile the Defenders keep doing dmg to Redpath the Corrupted, so you can finish him off or stand aside and watch he Defenders do their thing :)
Then speak with the spirit of Joseph Redpath when he appears at the town square to finish the quest and then speak with Pamela at her home to get Hidden Treasures (the box is behind the house next to the chimney 32-83).

This worked for me a couple of times, so I hope this comment is helpfull for other people to solo this quest...

did this two man with a death knight that i stumbled across--he a lvl 60 unholy, i a lvl 58 prot. in retrospect it was a mistake to pull the boss and all the bloodletters at once. oh well. we still beat him, but would have been much easier with a little more forethought and tactics.

Just soloed it as a 56 BM hunter was really east just saved my CD for the boss kind of guys didn't die once so GL with people doing this it gave me about 11570 exp + 14140 from a chest chain so really easy 25710 EXP :D
too add people not on the quest can see the ghost and help you

Soloed this as a level 70 boomkin in PvP gear.. easy to do, just roots, starfire each named mob one at a time, over in less than 10 minutes.. Captain Redpath despawned for some reason, then the evil Redpath came about soon after, same routine, roots and starfire till dead.

To be honest, this is a two or three man quest, i NEARLY soloed it, got redpath down to 10k hp as retribution paladin lvl 57, if i had a priest with me, he would be so much dead.

Simple tactic, pull redpath over to the npcs that aint fighting, and get them to kick his ass.

Easily solo'd as a 80 fire mage if anyone is interested so i imagine other classes will find it easier.. was getting bit hard on the mana with all the aoe fun but didn't take too long.. fun times :D

Did it for grins as a level 62 ret paladin. Died twice, but managed to pull it off. No flashy gear, just some Outland greens bought off the AH. Tried to help the NPCs as best as I could until Horgus showed up, killed him fast, then stayed clear of the elite Bloodletters and tried to follow Redpath around tossing a heal or two on him.

When finally Corrupted Redpath showed up, then pulled him to the middle and let the Defenders and Militia there to aggro him. Did some mediocre DPS and ran around as the NPCs managed to daze him constantly and he wasn't able to catch up on me. When he was around 50%, then soloed him to death. But it was a close one ...

Fun fight - highly recommended to do instead of the standard "Kill 10 wabbits and 15 reindeer" type of quests.

Did it as a level 60 Unholy DK, barely. I popped every trinket I had, used up all my engineering oddities, even bandage-healed the NPC I was supposed to protect.

AOE spam for the non elites, plus letting the NPCs tank the elites. I didn't even have to touch the super-ghoul, the NPCs all aggro'd him and killed him in seconds. As for my ghoul, I just set him to agressive and watched "Batmuncher kills bloodletter" pop up every now and then in my combat log. Other classes could probably pull off similar strategies.

For anyone who wants this to just finish up quests, I soloed it easily as a 72 BM hunter. Just watch the guy in blue and keep saving his hiney and you'll be okay. Note though, I thought they meant to put the relics in the town square, but the guys appear up the road by the old wagon.

Here's a tip for any lower level paladins having trouble: Turn Undead works on Redpath the Corrupted. I almost beat him without it, but died at the last minute. The second attempt went even worse, and I figured it couldn't hurt to try Turn Undead. It made the fight completely trivial. Just make sure you pull him away from the bloodletters, as a 4 pack of those aren't much fun.

Not sure if someone already said this but if you want to solo and dont mind waiting awhile Then at the end when the boss comes just die once then when you respawn just sit back and watch the protecters die for about 10 mins and if will auto complete the quest for you, or at least that is what happened for me pretty easy.

Is something wrong with this event? Everytime I drop the "Relic Bundle" nothing spawns, even besides the wagon? Any suggestions?

So here is a tactic for Paladin (did it as 62 retadin):
Ill focus on the last part... (the fight before is a cake-walk compared to the last one).
Be sure to use Seal of Wisdom and BoW - change them during fight if you are full on mana.

Try to pull him with Hand of Reckoning when he is in combat, you wont pull anymore mobs. Use Exorcism immediately. Cast Holy Wrath and use your nuke combo (Judgement, Divine Storm, Crusader Strike). Cast HoJ after the stun from HW disappears. Continue with damaging him and when you are low on hp/mana use Repentance. Wait for CDs and repeat. If he resists Repentance, use Turn Evil. It takes while but you will surely make it.

Remeber, the key to this fight is to CC him as much as possible.

Two manned it, my 56 Elemental Shaman and a 70 Resto Druid. Got killed by the Bloodletters but graveyard is right behind town. He tanked Corrupted Red and I healed between hurling lightning bolts. Easier than expected but those elites still hit hard. Great fun! Working fine as of, well, right now, apparently.

1st guy just disappeared and redpath ( the one u need to protect ) got instagibed by something ... he just died in one second without any npc even near to him.

gm said its known issue bla bla ..

really annoying to do entire chain ( which is awesome btw ) and then u cant complete last part of it.

Finished as a level 67 holy paladin. The key's pretty much what huldu said to do: pull Redpath away from the other undead.

Pretty much just ignore the deaths of the regular soldiers and keep to protecting the main quest npcs. I don't think this is soloable if you're wearing cloth or leather, but perhaps if you stayed away from those Bloodletter elites you may have a chance.

If you hang around for awhile after the battle you'll get a little bit of dialogue that'll make most people choke up a bit. It's very... bittersweet.

80 holy priestess solo, managed to get it done.

First attempt, I showed up and there were ghosts fighting all around. This means the event had already been triggered or was bugged. Left and waited until the following Tues reset.

Second attempt. No ghosts, hope it works. Placed bag. Waited. Waited. Some ghosts showed up and started fighting. Nuked a few here and there, but no sign of the principals. Wait, nuke, wait, nuke.

Finally after about what must have been a full 5 minutes I spotted Davil Lightfire near the main road fight zone. He's a little more ornate than the others but not easily found. You have to click around on the friendly NPCs a lot to make sure you're not missing him. Heal, nuke, heal, nuke, occasional self heal, nuke. After what seemed like a full 10 minutes Horgus showed up. He wasn't transparent like the other ghosts. Starts fighting Davil. Heal Davil, nuke, heal self, nuke, Horgus down. Nuked & healed a few more then Davil suddenly died. I was watching him and it was obviously scripted.

After another full 5 minutes of nothing but ghostly combat, I spotted Captain Redpath also near the main road fight zone (also much NPC clicking and running around to make sure I didn't miss him). Kept him focused. Nuke, heal Redpath, nuke, heal self, rinse & repeat. After another full 5 minutes, somebody on a horse made a 2 second appearance and one shotted Redpath. Oh great. Nuked & healed another 4 minutes (seemed a bit less) then the Corrupted Redpath comes strolling down the main road, easily seen in black armor. Took him down (he pulls lots of his friends to him but not really a problem). Once the Corrupted Redpath goes down the fighting stops and the ghostly armies disappear.

Then there appears a friendly NPC ghost just as you enter the town on the right, and Redpath in the center by the fountain. Talked to the friendly first, then Redpath. He was forgiven and the quest satisfied.

I wasn't partied so I couldn't mark the principals once I'd found them. Some sort of marking macro would have been helpful, but /focus worked ok.

One of the better and more compelling plotlines in the game. If you can trigger the event, just take your time. Patience and more patience is needed here. Be prepared to spend at least 30 minutes in the fight, most of the time waiting for key NPCs to show up. Never potted, rarely below 50% mana. Good luck avoiding bugs.

Quest was easily solo'ed as a mostly blue/purp geared lvl 80 DK and took less than 15 minutes. No bugs! I just ran around killing everything in sight, dropping Death & Decay with Pestilence to aggro all groups. Had to heal once using death pact and resummoned the minion. Thanks for all the previous comments. They actually helped.

I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong here

1) place bag to start event
2) kill mobs til Davil comes out
3) protect Davil til Horgus comes out, then kill Horgus
4) keep killing til Redpath comes out
5) ?

I'm a level 80 ret pally doing this for AD rep. No problems 1-2 shotting everything, mobs have no hope to kill either of the NPCs I'm protecting. Approx. 45secs after spawning, Redpath just "dies" even though there were no mobs attacking him and I have him healed up. Now I have been clearing mobs for 45+ minutes, Redpath the Corrupted never shows. What am I missing? Any tips here much appreciated as I've been trying this for two days now.

If, like me, you're thinking of coming back to do this at level 80, do it. The rewards won't be great, and the mobs aren't anything like as challenging as they would be at the intended level (recommended tactic: keep an eye on the NPCs and kill everything in your path), but it's still fun to do and I found it had the atmosphere down just right. The constant spawning of attackers, even if they weren't hard to kill, got across the chaos and confusion of the 'real' battle very well. Have fun rewriting history.

this quest can be bugged by the simple expediant of you starting your quest and then someone else coming in and starting theirs. this happened to me. 10 mins after startng my quest someone else started theirs and both his and mine wound up bugged now all it does is spawn the undead an bloodletters been over an hour waitin for more hopin it would finish but no luck. be sure to shout out you are doing quest to prevent this happening to you! GL te ya'll!

Just solo'ed this as a level 80 Rogue. Very easy, 1 fan of knives kills all the non-elites, and the elites are weak. Just don't let the elite's get to the characters that have to live.

So from my experience.....any level 80 can solo this.

You do have to go and talk to Redpath's ghost at the end to get his forgiveness and the quest completion. He's by the well after you've done all the killing.

Mine worked fine, and the beginning is very easy. Both showed up within minutes. But...I was a surv hunter and I tried taking on the bloodletters, but there just too many. I FD'd and they went onto Redpath and he subsequintly died. I tried 2nd time, same result. Waiting now till 80..

If u want the quest for ur 50's character and already got a high lvl character on the same server and account dont even bother thinking about a group. Just bring them both in darrowshire, initiate the quest with ur low lvl and logout immediately to login with ur high lvl. After clearing up, which i did easily with a hunter lvl 80, and killing corrupted Redpath u can login again with ur low lvl, talk to Redpath and complete the quest. Works with Alliance-Horde characters as well.

Soloed with a 57 priest, everything up to the corruption of redpath was easy, I did get Redpath to 7k hp by alot of kiting etc, tried to solo him several times but I wasnt able to kill him, but my last try resulted in the quest bugging and completed ^_^

I managed to solo this as a lvl 57 tankadin, for anyone outside a paladin I wouldn't reccomend doing so unless you have good armor and a way to consantly heal yourself. The first part is easy with Davil, especially since he's nice enough to heal you. When corrupted Redpath appears you need to taunt him away and into a group of non-fighting defenders. Then just wail away with them making sure to stun him so you can heal. Do not do anything to maintain aggro at this time as he hits hard and you don't want to take it single handedly.

Note: You can die and if/when you do I reccomend rezzing a good ways away so you can heal and eat and buff. Keep in mind it does take about 2 minutes for him to die since he has 34k health. Just plan wisely.

Yea, if you want to do it on the level you're supposed to(IE, around 60), bring some CC. Did it with a 56 assassin rogue and a 60 destro lok. The lok was basicly spamming fear and the rogue was using kidney shot whenever it was off CD.

soloed this as a 62 warrior tank, got to the end by having the disciples of the silver hand heal me once in a while. Pulled Redpath over to a group of 4 defenders and had him only aggro me, got him down to about 40% and the defenders just held his aggro while i rez'd and healed and got to him before he killed the last defender and was able to kill him, I only had about 3% health left. Keep in mind I did this without any buffs or potions. If you fail just wait for the defenders to respawn and try agin.

I was actually inspired to go back and do this questline today after seeing the Cranius video. I had apparently never finished it on either of my 80s, so I took my feral druid.

It is of course easily soloable at 80. The thing that got me was the never-ending spawn of scourge, and imagining how it must have been for the Darrowshire citizens to try to fight what was really a losing battle. Every time I'd kill one 2 or 3 would spawn to take its place, and it went on like this for a good 10 or 15 minutes.

At appropriate level, and pre-nerf, it must have been a hellish quest to finish.

I can confirm it was working today and I was able to solo as a L66 Demo Warlock with mix of Vanilla and TBC gear.

For the most part I ignored the undead south of the village and just killed the ones by the path and the little compound where the Silver Hand guys are.

The undead all around 3k hp so die fairly quickly to DoTs.

Davil comes after a few minutes but didn't fight much, until Horgus spawned (L60 elite with around 15k hp) and I was able to nuke him quickly. Davil died after that as intended and then it was just a matter of keeping numbers down till Redpath turned up.

At this point I'd strongly suggest following him around as he does go to 3 spots to fight the undead including to the south where the defenders were dead so I had to kill the undead to assist him. Do watch out for the Bloodletters as they do decent damage even though they die quickly.

I then fought more of the undead and Redpath vanished and the Corrupted Redpath arrived. He has around 33k hp and is a L60 elite. Note for warlocks: he can fear your demon but he is susceptible to the horrify effect of death coil, I didn't try and fear him. He died soon enough but I was grateful for Metamorphosis as I had to tank him while the demon was feared (it's only 4s).

You should then be able to talk to Redpath and get the quest completion which you hand in to Pamela Redpath. Pamela is in the Culling of Stratholme instance if you're curious, though she's a L70 there and yes, she does have her dolly.

This quest was a lot harder (raid worthy) in vanilla wow as I did it on my Horde warlock and priest I guess mainly due to much lower health and spell damage.

Incidentally, the quest sort of peters out when you hand it in and get the rewards, so I'd recommend watching the video linked earlier by Thaeru (here) which has father and daughter reunited at the end which is a nice way to leave this chain.

Finally got this one done, logged on right after maintenance finished up. Still seems a little buggy, had to wait before the NPCs showed up, but it's not bugged like it was when I went out there last week and the NPCs were fighting amongst each other.

I've tried to do this quest 4 times previously, and each time it bugged out. Finally got it to work today... someday! It bugged out when the Corrupted Redpath appeared. I killed him, but nothing happened. The mobs continued to spawn and Redpath didn't appear to complete the quest. I waited a few minutes, was ready to give up... and ran by ANOTHER Corrupted Redpath. I killed him again, and this time it worked, everything despawned, and I was able to complete the quest.

Despite being really buggy, one of my favourite chains of all time. :) Makes me have to go listen to the song Cranius did about Darrowshire now!

Not much of a helpful comment here, but I thought I had to share:
I had just rallied up my brother and his level 80 protection warrior to help me finish this quest on my level 60 rogue (which, him being tired, he was very reluctant to do.) I had gone down to Darrowshire to wait for him as he was just finishing his flight from Ironforge, and as I entered, I walked in to a pile of corpses on the ground, and two ghost mobs, as well as a level ? Horde paladin (I play an Alliance character) wandering around. Assuming it was some sort of special world event, I talked to the nearest ghost NPC - and completed the quest whole quest! I was overjoyed, and simply had to walk over to Pamela to get the next quest (walking behind the house to open a chest,) which got me 3 blues and 14K experience! Granted, my brother was slightly peeved that he had flown over for nothing, but it was ironic none the less.

at 64, tankadin, this was a piece of cake. Even 3 bloodletters couldn't seriously hurt me, in fact, for a while I just dragged 2 around with me for free mana.

Though, I did drag redpath were some npcs could help. I didn't really need them, but their stuns seem to coincide with his, so that helped.

I had to drink a few times during the fights, between waves. Bubblewalled once, due to an evade bug setting the 8 mobs on me back to full health.

Did have an 80 pally show up while I started it, but he just looked at me then ran off before getting involved.

Solo'd as a lvl 57 Hunter.

Maintain watch over the elites you're protecting. Davil should be farely easy as there are no blood letters that spawn before you have to kill the elite.

Carlin Redpath will run to a few different groups and stay for a minute or so at each group. If you can try clearing the blood letters that are in the center of the town(as Carlin will run to the center eventually). When he does, keep him alive at all costs. Multi-shot all three blood letters to buy yourself some time. When Carlin runs to the center of the town, there isn't a whole lot of time before the second elite shows so just try to keep him alive.

When it's time to face Corrupted Carlin wait until he is alone and Distracting Shot him away and start Kiting toward Western Plaguelands( It's not feasible to have your pet tank him. Even as BM spec with improved mend pet glyph, he pulverized my pet fairly quickly). You don't want to go toward Eastern as you'll run into Corin's crossing, which will be bad news bears.

Once you have him on the road, just be wary of any stray mobs that come across your path. Cycle between Aspect of the Cheetah, Viper, Hawk depending on what you need. Use concussion shot whenever it's up (I'm BM so not sure if he's immune to any other CC). I had him about just shy of halfway through Western Plaguelands before I dealt the final blow. Ran back to town and his ghost was in the center for me to talk to.

Oh, as far as gear goes. I had BoA shoulders/Chest. BoA Weapons. Rest were quest rewards.

I just did this for Loremaster as my level 60 retridin and I have to say, it was the most difficult quest I've done in pursuit of the achievement so far. The build up to the final fight is tame enough to start with, but instead of just relaxing through it I'd definitely advocate protecting the NPCs as much as possible, because as soon as the Bloodletters start spawning it gets tense. Even though you can't heal them, the defenders make good fodder while you bandage and such towards the final phases.

As a paladin, I didn't particularly struggle with the first boss, Horgus. Dropping consecration was more than enough to take care of the adds, and with some lucky crits he dropped fast. The Bloodletters, on the other hand, came as a surprise and very nearly killed me as a result; these guys have a decent amount of HP and hit harder and faster than you'd probably expect. When more than one spawned I found it best to let Redpath tank one while I took down the other - tanking them myself required a lot of breaks to heal and loads of Art of War procs wasted on flash heals. They spawn constantly, so taking such a hit in DPS just meant I was liable to be swamped. With Redpath set as my focus target, it wasn't hard to quickly nuke down one and swipe the other off him, then heal him back to full in the few seconds between waves.

Redpath the Corrupted and a nasty fellow on a horse were kind enough to spawn just after I'd accidentally yoinked both Bloodletters onto me, anyway, and it all went a bit downhill from there. I survived by stunning them with Holy Wrath and running the bloody hell away towards the graveyard; fortunately the surviving defenders helped with this by dazing those mobs still following me. Once in the graveyard, things didn't go much better. Redpath the Corrupted hits moderately hard and had a lot more health than preceding mobs. After using potions, bandages and my JCing stone statue, along with every CD in the book, I died. Thanks to dying in the graveyard, though, I was able to immediately resurrect, and a defender had held him long enough that Redpath had yet to reset. It still took a long time to kill him, but I really believe the GY was key - for whatever reason the horseriding bloke hadn't followed me down there, and as I was a ways away from the spawn point I wasn't flooded with mobs, although a few did trickle down every now and again.

Bloody awesome quest, anyway. It makes a great change from all the nerfed content on Azeroth: I'm still a bit jumpy with adrenaline.

Soloed as lv80 Enhancement Shaman. Pretty much a piece of cake, the elite Bloodletters only came about 3 at a time, with approximately 7k HP a pop. No problems at all completing it! ^^

I've been waiting for 30 minutes. Gathered six Relic bags and the NPCs did not show. Tried and tried again and still getting no shows. Petitioned a GM and didn't get a confirmation to fix this.

Soloed today with my lvl. 61 fire mage, i think it's one of the best quests i've done so far. What i'm writing below is valid for mages/spellcasters, but other classes may find some use too.

After dropping the bag in the middle of the town, you need wait 30-60 seconds before the first scourge minions and guards appears.
First part is quite easy, wait for Davil to appear and defend him, he's a tough warrior so you will not be under much pressure. Just manage your aggro well, isn't necessary to kill everyone. Horgus is easy to take down, focus on him with the help of Davil, maybe some other guards will help you. If so, it's also possible they will kill the ghoul alone.

About the second part, well it's more tough. Defend Redpath just like you did with Davil, until he get killed by the death knight. After Corrupted Redpath appears, you need pull him from a distance. Try pull him without aggroing other undeads nearby, if necessary clean the road first.
Bring him near the guards in the town, so they can engage him and buy you some time to cast spells. He has very high HP so you need slow him down all the time and punch him while the guards engage and daze him continuosly.
As a spec fire mage, i used fireball and dragon's breath/blast wave/frost nova to damage him and also get out from the fight, buying me some time. Blink spell is essential to quickly cover some distance from him.

About the bloodkillers: they make really high damage so stay away from them and hit from a distance. They easily kill the guards, so you may need to engage some of them.

To save some folks some time, I was running my lvl 50 with my 80 warlock. All quests including the last one require lvl 50 ... except the second to last one which requires lvl 55 ... guess I will go on to something else?

Well, as an 80, the killing was never challenging. The hard part was always situational awareness: noticing what spawns where. It's hard to defend Lightfire or Redpath if you don't notice them spawn. Likewise, unless you look close, you'll never see the bosses you have to kill in time to win. That's one of the downsides of transparent ghostly targets. At a distance, you can't even see them unless you notice their movement.

The key for me was to program the NPCScan addon to alert me when they spawn. That also allows you to target them.

Once you have them targeted, if you still can't see where they are, a focusing lens like this Dark Jade Focusing Lens is very handy. Zap it, re-orient yourself, and run the direction the beam was heading.

Died a few times when the stupid bloodletter come, they hit for around 700-1k on cloth. There is no way of drain tanking them so all you can do is DoT up everything else and avoid them. When Redpath came out I ran around behind all the mobs grabbed him and kited him around keeping up Curse of Exhaustion. At times he will stop to fear your pet which is a good time to either refresh UA or get in a Shadowbolt. I kited him around behind the battle, over the mountains back into Darrowshire popped Sacrifice in case I got hit and made a big U-turn to get around him and follow the path back out, passing by his house and Pamala.

Quest is absolutely amazing and is by far my favorite. They definatlly don't make them like they used to.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do recall doing this quest on one of my toons when plain vanilla WoW was out only and once the battle was won and after you talked to Joseph Redpath he will at a point walk the path to his house in Darrowshire and meet up with his daughter Pamela and there will be a touching scene of their reunion and they would fade away hand-in-hand. Reason why I ask this is I recently done this on another toon of mine and I don't see this scene anymore.

Still bugged. Decided to try again, was able to drop the bundle to start it no problem.

Davil Lightfire spawned, but then leaves saying his wounds are too severe and we need to fight on without him. He was uninjured...

Captain Redpath spawned, hung around for a few minutes, then just despawned, he was full health as well, I was watching him closely. He never said anything.

Now it's just been 15-20 minutes of undead trash and town defenders. No Horgus, no Redpath the Corrupted. Bleh...

If you have an 80, you can do this on any of your alts with ease.

1st off, get your level 80 to Darrowshire. Then, logout and hop on your alt. When you take your alt to Darrowshire, start the quest (by useing the sack). Then immediately log out and hop on your 80. It's increadibly easy to solo on your 80. After your defeat Redpath the Corrupted, log out and hop onto your alt. After you log in on your alt, just talk to Redpath and you'll forgive him.

I just finished this today. Be patient...it takes a good 10 minutes for all the mobs to appear. I almost left because I thought the quest was still bugged but it appears to be fixed now. (Level 80 hunter in ICC gear can solo easily.)

Patch 3.3.5 - I just completed this quest tonight solo as a level 62 Death Knight. I am still wearing the full set of rare (blue) quality items you receive from the Acherus quests. I have all 53 of my talents points in the Blood Tree. The closest I came to death was roughly half of my max hp.

The talents and abilities I used to survive were 1/1 Rune Tap, 3/3 Improved Rune Tap, 1/1 Mark of Blood, 3/3 Blood Worms, Dancing Rune Weapon (Major Glyph for 17 second duration), Death Strike (No Glyph or Talents needed), Icebound Fortitude (obtained at level 62), and most importantly Chains of Ice.

The basic idea is to let the ghost guards engage the mobs first, and then assist them to build runic power up. As noted in an earlier post it's wise to raid mark the main NPC your are protecting. I do not advise using Death and Decay past the first wave of non-elites. If used on the Blood Letter mobs it can cause you problems from the significant aggro gain. As a rule of thumb keep your eye on the NPC your are protecting at all times, and let the friendly ghost guards engage the undead mobs first.

To be quite honest Horgus the Ravager is a joke. Simply let the guards engage him first then unload with your Blood DPS while in Blood Presence. Actually I used Blood Presence throughout the entire encounter. When Redpath the Corrupted appears let the guards engage him. You should have adequate Runic Power to unleash your Dancing Rune Weapon. Use Chains of Ice and kite him throwing Death Coils when able. The guards will do their job of dpsing with ease. If he gets to close make sure Icebound Fortitude is ready. He has a demo shot but thank god your Chains of Ice makes him move much slower. He has a fear but Strangulate or Mind freeze will save you. When he reaches near death run up and make short work of him. Like I stated earlier in this post I completed this quest during patch 3.3.5, even though our friends at Wowhead still mark new posts at 3.3.3

Easily (almost boring!) soloed by a lousy geared lvl 80 hunter in BM spec. NO PROBLEMS! It does take a while for all the mobs to come in though, like stated before it was like 10 mins.

An extremely annoying quest. Soloed on a level 80 Ret Paladin with so-so gear in eight minutes. When I first tried to do this quest it was glitched. Bloodletters and Darrowshire Betrayers were spawning constantly and would not stop. It was only after the server check that I was able to get this quest finished. I've mapped out about when and where things will happen below. I had a theory that doing this quest while not in a raid glitched it (I did it in a raid to be safe), but a hunter came in just after me and did it while not in a raid just fine. Everything went perfectly. Perhaps someone dying while on this quest glitches it?

Anyway, there are a few things to take note of: First and foremost, there are three "spots" where scourge spawn. They are on the Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast sides of Darrowshire. As of patch 3.3.5, Lightfire and Redpath cannot be macro-targeted with /tar name. Both, however, are easy to see because they have a blue glow around their bodies. You can easily mark them with a raid icon and keep them in sight. A nice plus is that Lightfire and Redpath are healable with Flash of Light. Sadly, other friendly NPCs are not. Last but not least, the times mentioned below are in minutes and seconds, not hours and minutes.

After placing the bag in the town square, it was around the 0:30 mark before the first Darrowshire Defenders spawned. One of them yelled "Darrowshire, to arms! The Scourge approach!" If you don't see this, it might be glitched.

At the 1:30 mark Silver Hand Disciples spawned. Scourge also started spawning.

At around 2:00, Lightfire spawned close to the well. He stayed somewhat close to that area and did not run to scourge unless were very close.

At 3:00, Horgus the Ravager spawned on the Northwest. His spawning location may not always be the same, so keep an eye out for him.

5:00, Lightfire died because his "wounds were too severe" even though he hadn't taken a single hit. Expect this because it is normal.

Redpath will spawn somewhere between 5:30 to 6:00 in. Unlike Lightfire, Redpath has no fear for his life and runs STRAIGHT to the scourge. He visited all three scourge spawning points (Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, then Northwest again) before being confronted and one-shot by Marduk the Black.

Redpath the Corrupted then spawned on the Northeast side. After killing him, all the trash disappeared (along with friendly NPCs) and Redpath spawned near the well asking for forgiveness. Completed in 8:00.

Hope this helps. I was extremely confused the first time I did this because it was glitched. Some said you had to wait ten minutes before Lightfire would spawn. Well, when it was glitched I waited ten minutes without attacking anything (there was continuous spawn). Then I waited another ten minutes, killing all spawn in hopes of triggering the event. It was only after the server check when there was no spawn that both a hunter and I separately finished this quest. By the way, make sure to stay and watch the "reuniting" of father and daughter. I finally completed this quest as of today. I´ve been playing this game for 5 years, and it was always bugged out. I´m happy to finally have done the impossible quest!

For people who still need to do this quest: don't let the quest objectives turn you crazy. It looks very difficult and confusing, but it's very easy to complete if you keep an eye out for the Captains. Leave the guards and the Scourge to their business. The guards can handle them. Keep the Captains alive, kill the elites that you are supposed to kill, and it's smooth sailing.

I finally tried this quest last night. Got through Lightfire with no problem, and was watching Captain Redpath closely.

Redpath was at full health.
Then I noticed he had a stun symbol over his head.
Then he was dead. No idea what killed him. Nothing was close to him.

Looked around for Redpath the Corrupted for a while in case I was confused and he had died at the right time, but never saw him.

And the Scourge just kept spawning, so I couldn't try again. Or I did get a new relic bundle and try but nothing happened.

Does this event ever end before the server resets?

I think this quest is bugged, as well. I was watching as Captain Redpath, not surrounded by any mobs, not being targeted by anything, became stunned, and then died. No gradual HP decay, no mobs, just...stunned, then dead.

And the battle kept going for a long time, I thought that I misunderstood the quest text but nope...The quest did not come up as failed, but the event continued.

And I'm extremely vulnerable to bouts of nerd rage. Excessive deaths and buggy events make me very upset and I wanted to finish this questline. It'd be my first time.

Just completed on WrA. 80 hunter, not in a raid group.

Set down the relic bag and the Defenders spawned in a few seconds. After a few rounds of non-elites, Davil Lightfire spawned with a misty aura that made him stand out. He fought, Horgus spawned, Horgus was killed, then Capt. Redpath spawned with the same misty aura. As I was following Redpath around, Davil either died or despawned. Bloodkillers spawned, Redpath fell. Redpath the Corrupted spawned immediately and as soon as he was defeated the peaceful Davil and Redpath ghosts appeared.

Spoke with Redpath and forgave him, then spoke to Pamela, had tea, and opened the box. A couple of minutes later the family was reunited. A beautiful quest line with no bugging here.

Hey, I've just soloed this today with my level 60 protection pally.

I can give prot pally great tips on how to solo this quest

It is not hard to keep Davil and Redpath alive. what do you want to do is to put Blessing of Sanctuary on them so that they gain extra life. The undead that spawns in the first and second wave are easily killable. not to worry about that, and there are some extra elite silver hand ghost around as well, so don't worry too much about it. Just keep track on Davil and Redpath and see if they are allright.

Horgus is easy to kill. Just use your normal rotation. he will go down really fast.

The hardest part is to kill Redpath the corrupted, and this is where I will be focusing on, as the other things were not so hard for me.

Step 1 - avoid contact with Marduk when he appeared. You don't have to kill him, and it will be pointless. Also avoid contact with the other undead, elites, or non elites. Locate Redpath the corrupted (use sense undead ofc)

Step 2 - make sure you have all the potions you need. in this case I went with life potions. This is emergency measure, but if you do it right, you won't even need it.

Step 3 - position yourself rightly. Don't attack or pull him straight away, but rather go around the village and place yourself in the eastern slope about 45 yards away from him.

step 4 - buff yourself with Blessing of Sanctuary, turn on your DEVOTION aura (retribution will not keep you alive) and put Seal of Wisdom so that you will generate mana with every single hit you got on him.

step 5 - make sure your mana is full

step 6 - approach him till you have 30 yards range, and cast EXORCISM to draw him to you. At 60, I managed not to pull the 2 skeletons hanging around with him. Pull him away a little far from the village so you can fight him one on one.

step 7 - This is where it gets crucial. Starts with AVENGERS SHIELD (because it has the longest cooldown) then JUDGEMENT OF LIGHT ( always use light so that you will generate hp) Next HAMMER RIGHTEOUS, and HOLY SHIELD. At many times he will stunned you. This is where you have to be careful. Used HAMMER OF JUSTICE to STUN him when your HP is half left, heal yourself with HOLY LIGHT. if you want to take extra risk, keep the rotation before till your HP is critically low, and LAY ON HANDS yourself, this way you will return to full health, with full mana generated from your seal, while he will not be able to heal himself. Afterwards repeat the rotation again, and now occasionally used HAMMER OF JUSTICE and HOLY WRATH to stun him and heal yourself. When he get down to 10 % starts casting CONSECRATION for extra damage, after all you have all the mana to be wasted now, and keep on repeating the rotation as mentioned. AVENGERS SHIELD - JUDGEMENT OF LIGHT - HAMMER OF THE RIGHTEOUS - HOLY SHIELD - JUDGEMENT OF LIGHT - HAMMER OF RIGHTEOUS - HOLY SHIELD - AVENGERS SHIELD and back again.

I tried different ways soloing him, and it finally worked really well this way, after 3 deaths in the row

This quest is definitely doable now - took me 9 minutes to do it. Just make sure to follow the NPCs and keep them alive.

Just managed to solo this as a 57 retri paladin in BoA / vanilla-dungeon-blue gear. No Outland gear whatsoever. The hard part about this is Redpath the Corrupted and
- his massive 33k healthpool
- him being 3 lvls above me (and my sword skill not completely up to date:p)
- his knockdowns AND shield bashes
- him hitting like a train since it's designed for 10-15 players

The first part of the quest is easy and pretty straight forward so I will jump right to the Redpath-part. Adds would follow the first few times I pulled him, so I took those out before dying myself.

After finally being able to pull him alone I took him further away up the road leading down to Darrowshire. I had my shield and 1h equipped and Devo aura on.
I used all my Art of War procs on Flash of Lights, spamming Judgements to keep my mana up due to 2/3 in Judgements of the Wise.

It's important to take advantage of the fact that he's undead.

If my HP dropped critically low I would either
- use Hammer of Justice and heal
- use Holy Wrath and heal
- use Turn Evil and heal (that's why I brought him away from Darrowshire)
- use bubble if everything else would fail (luckily it didn't for me)

Turn Evil here really did the trick for me, allowing my other spells to come off CD as well. As he was avoiding a lot of my attacks due to his lvl the fight itself took around 7-10 minutes and it felt like a great accomplishment when he finally died by my feet.

Soloable as a 60 hunter. When Redpath became corrupted I ran to the large tree near town square and kited him around it shooting chimeras at him. Didn't get hit once and my pet didn't get aggro either. Basically I killed him without any damage being dealt. Hard to use this with anything but a hunter though.

I think the quest is bugged again, I tried doing it today. When Redpath came onto the battlefield I made him my focus so I could keep an eye on his health, then suddenly, for no reason, he just died and wasn't brought back as the corrupted. I kept killing crap for about ten minutes then just gave up on it.

Appears to be broken on Steamwheedle Cartel as well. The fight is never ending and non of the people you are to keep alive even show up. I put in a ticket but they'll probably just tell me to delete my addon folder and relog.

I saw no sign of any on the NPCs you are meant to protect now, in 4.0.1. Can someone please confirm that this quest is bugged and does not work?

So basically: The Battle for Darrowshire is broken until Cataclysm comes out, at which time its level is being lowered and such.

Just completed this today. I've tried it several times over the past few weeks, and each time I visited Darrowshire I found it already in progress, with Bloodletters running around, but none of the named NPCs. Today I finally found it clear, and was able to start and complete the event. It does take a long time, and often seems like it isn't progressing, since there's really no text or dialogue. You just have to wait it out, and keep an eye out for each of the important NPCs (Davil Lightfire, Horgus the Ravager, Captain Redpath, Marduk the Black, Redpath the Corrupted, and Joseph Redpath).

Either they've fixed it as of 4.0.3, or you simply have to complete it properly for it to clear. My personal theory as to why it bugs/bugged is that people would show up, not wait around long enough, allow an important NPC to die, or abandon the quest, and thus the event would not end, preventing anyone from starting it up again until the next server reset.

Funny, the first couple times I visited Darrowshire, the area was clear. Too bad I didn't run the quest chain to the end at that time, rather than start it, come back to it later, and run into the event already in progress several times.

Sucessfully completed this quest. I had to wait till the servers restarted from rolling restarts to do this. It appeared that someone had already started the quest when I went out there, but I let Davil die, abandoned the quest and picked it up again. Went back and placed my bag down and the NPC popped up. I had 0 issues. After days of the quest being bugged and no information from a GM as to what to do besides the fact that they apologize and that they are aware of the bug. I did a bunch of research and found that if you let Davil die (if he is up) and restart that the quest would work. Hope this helps someone.

The 'patch notes' say that the event now correctly resets, that is true. It resets, from my result 15 min after bein started.
i tried that twice:
First time Captia Redpath despawned togethet with th first named NPC, nothing but random spawns happened since.
Second time the first NPC despawned (actually he suddenly died after saying his sentence), then Redpath showed but he died some time later, being alone and full HP, and the usaul spawns continued.
Ticketed it, guess we just have to wait

I have also had problems with this. Have tried abandoning and re-acquiring the quest to no avail. For me I can start the event, but trash just keeps coming. Stood around for 10mins killing trash with no sign of the NPCs I need to kill.

As many have said before, this quest still appears to be bugging out. However, it does seem to become completable again after the weekly server maintenance resets the event. :)

It is apparent that the person writing in RED up at the top has no idea what is going on! I did this quest with Naucratis, Level 52, Shaman-Element and I did it solo! Best as i can say if you target the 3 NPC individuals as the order of defending then killing, it is doable. But do not run around putting out all the little fire as there is fighting all around. Just stick to game plan, it can be completed solo or by group! Level up!

I soloed this as a very confused level 42 shaman. I couldn't see any of the NPCs who I was supposed to protect, so I just ran around fighting anything red that showed up. Eventually, it told me to speak with the ghost in the center of the town square for completion. erm... hooray?

It is funny that this quest is labeled as not available, when it is a regular quest now. Just did it as a lvl 43 warlock.

This is the correct version of the quest: A batalha pela Vila das Flechas. The version on this page is intended for level 55-60. The other version is for the redone version of EPL, and is 39-41. Several leveling quests are confusing like this, because their titles/objectives remained the same but the required level did not.

Even though this site says the quest has bee marked obsolete by blizzard and cant be done. I just did it on March 28th 2016, so not sure what the deal is.
