Completing a daily quest gets you 20%, opening a chest gets you 10%. So far killing normal, non-rare mobs doesn't seem to give any progress. ETA: killing a rare gives you 15%.

Turning in a quest that you get for defeating a legendary pet for the first time will give you 20% progress.

daily quest=20%, rare= 15%, chest=10%. Fast and easy.

Also, as of December 2019 (maybe earlier, didn't noticed) crafting tinkering stuff (no crates) grants 5% /item towards completion.

As of 9.1.5, this is the final quest -of the final chain of quests- that unlocks the Mechagonian race. That is, after you have previously reached the achievements required already. No need to have exalted rep, with them.

This quest is presented as a progress bar on your quest log. Looks like a daily or world quest, which may be confusing.

Unlocking this race (and Kultiran) have been confusing for me. Mostly because there isn't much details on the web about this last stage of the progress. You'll think you're done and ready to unlock the races once you reach the achievements for each race. But you're not. Popular trackers will show you as "ready". Also, there's a Blizzard post on the web (you may find it while searching how to unlock these races), printed in blue characters, which intended to "clarify" the issue of reaching achievements with a horde character and unlocking the races, but it doesn't seem to be accurate at the moment. At least it didn't help me at all (and neither it did to dozens of other players reporting the same issues) even when I had what it took to get what the post said.

So, you'll need the last chain of quests (I think I got it in Boralus, next to the main flight master). You may be confused to think you're not on the right track, because the sequence of events doesn't seem to have much sense (at least for me). Just keep going on until you finish this quest here. Then you'll be asked to go to the Stormwind Embassy to finally "recruit" the Mechagonians (there's a Stormwind teleport device on the ground on that last room. Don't miss it.). Cheers.

Strangely, Vaultbolt does not count at all for this quest. Any other rare contributes with 15-20% to complete this quest.
