As of 3.0.2, this quest, unfortunately, seems to give zero reputation gains of any sort... getting Steamwheedle Cartel rep is going to be an ugly, ugly thing now. :/

As mentioned above the key is unique but when it drops you can free Knot and farm more to get another for the next Ini reset.

But can somebody tell me if it is unique for the hole party for the current dire maul run or can any party member get it in the party in one dire maul run.

Heres some math to calculate how long you haft to grind for it... very simple math :p Not really my strong side.. ^^ And few tips for this long grind.

If you get 3 keys every hour thats 1050 REP an hour wich is quit normal to get. Lets say you grinded for 10 hours.. 10500 rep etc :)

Ive never gotten more than 2 keys a run so its not really possible to get much more than 1500rep/hour.

Can also do 3xhour. Example 3x25 hours thats 75 keys or 26250 rep.

It takes a long time to get some rep going if your unlucky on keys, but this is for sure 1 of the fastest ways to Exalted title if thats what your aiming for.

I also suggest you save runecloth,rugged leather,felcloth mainly for gold incoms. And the best selling items you get off guards. Have 25-70 free spots in bags highly prefferd. I even gotten 7 librams and almost all class books so far :) thats good golds to.

I killed maaaaaany mobs in huge puls as a feral druid, and I seem to get only a key 2:10 of thoes big puls. Not really worth killing mobs unless you know your just gonna be iddling outside instance portal on next reset W/E

Just go quickly for guards only, skipping rest. Also, it helps alot to have done ALL quests in ratchet/everlook.. so on :) You can easly get 5k into honored (5000/12000) that way. Also helps towards Lore master achivement..

As always RNGRNGpewpewnerfnerfyarr, :) Sometimes you get keys every reset almost, other times you might only get 1 key out of 5 resets. Just be patience is my advise..

Good luck to all of ya going for this grind.. Easy enough, but very booooring and time consuming over all.

I want to provide some useful information to people who are grinding these keys.

Here are some points that will help you right away:

Ogres: To Kill or Not To Kill

Keys drop at ~13-14% from the three guards, the bushwacker, and the captain. If you kill all 5 of these, and only these 5, you have a 50-53% chance of getting at least 1 key per run.
There are certain groups of ogres that are directly on the path. Count: 1 at the start, 5 after the first guard, 2 after the second guard and before the door, 4 down the corridor, 2 after the third guard, 2 near the tannin and 7 on the way to the captain. This is 23 total ogres.
The chance of getting at least one key from 23 ogres at 3% drop chance is ~50%.
Therefore your chance of *not* getting at least one key per run halves if you kill the 23 ogres directly on your path to the guards and captian.

How fast should I be going

You have at most 5 instances open per 60 minutes. This means you must average 12 minutes per run to maximize the number runs per hour.
As a level 80 arcane mage, using Blink as much as I can, and cooldowns on the guards, I can do 1 run, from the zone in, to the captain, out of the zone in, reset, and back in, rebuffed, and full hp/mana in ~10-11 minutes if I kill only 7 ogres.
Killing the extra 16 ogre puts me closer to 15 minutes, but brings the chance of a key drop up from 60% to 75%, which is significant enough for the trade-off.

What should I do if I am getting lucky

Because of the luck factor, doing a run isn't the same every time. Twice I've gotten the key off the very first ogre I've killed. (not even the guard)
When you get a key early (before the third guard), you should still stick to the routine and kill ogres and guards on the way. If a second key drops, you know you don't have to continue to kill the captain. You can free the goblin, loot the tanin, and then run back and loot the extra key. This means the early key drop can save you time and get you an extra key to start the next run.
Always free the goblin right away if you have the key and get to him. This allows you to pick up future keys instead of running back to the goblin.
In general, never stop and run back out of the instance before killing all the mobs in your routine unless you've used one key and have looted another. If you just stop and run out, you lose the benefit of your luck, which can help you if you get unlucky on the next run.

Other notes:

Set your hearth to your faction's base in Ferelas. This will allow you to hearth at the captain when your bags are full, mail stuff to bank alts, vendor stuff, and then run back in minimal time.
There is a vendor in the library (immediately to the left when entering, in the corner), which you can access through the courtyard. If just vendoring trash is all you need to do, go this way, rather than hearthing.
These runs are very lucrative as an enchanter. Disenchant all the greens and blues the Guards drop. They have a reasonably high chance of d/eing into greater essences which sell for 15-20g on most servers.
Make sure to open the chest that the goblin leaves after he runs away. To save bag space only loot runecloth, rugged leather, felcoth (sells well on some servers) and any tannin. I have gotten 2 tannins from one chest on one occasion.

I'm sure there's more I can add, I'll edit the post later if I think of it. Good luck on your key hunting!

Something that alot of people does not know, is that this quest is repeatable for 350 rep to Steamwheedle Cartel every time u hand in the key it will give u 350 not a continuation of 75 or less rep.

A quick note to those farming this for Steamwheedle Rep after doing Bloodsail Rep...

If you're at 0 / 36,000 Hated with each of the 4 factions (which is likely).
You're facing 48 Hours of 5 runs per hour to do this (240 hand-ins at a maximum of 5 runs per hour )

Consider killing the Tanaris and Barrens Goblins instead...

EDIT: After posting this I started on my Mass Murdering spree...
I headed to The Barrens and hit the Southsea Rats a hint south of Ratchet.
After 30 minutes, I was on 2,400 / 1,200 Rep (or 480 kills)
After 60 minutes, I was on 5,000 / 2,500 Rep (or 1000 kills so an avg of 16-17 kills per minute)
After 90 minutes, I was on 8,400 / 4,200 Rep (or 1680 kills)

I can thoroughly recommend Goblins over DM runs!

I'm on the Beta and i have the key from live and is still in my key ring when i logged in on the beta, so i went into Dire Maul to see if i could still do this quest. He did not have an option to free him and looks as if this quest has been taken out of the game.
Unless this is a bug i the game.
- i did not check to see if i could get a key to drop in beta though

Just tried to release him after 3.0.1a and no rep or no option to release him. Did the ogre suit quest and no rep.

Any way to confirm that this quest is gone forever? Not sure how to gain more rep for the last goblin faction now - 13k into revered with booty bay and stuck with a grind if the pirates are still there.

Confirmed, it's gone. Key doesn't drop, no key = no quest.

You can still do the Gordok Ogre Suit, but it gives no rep.

Hi there.

I have to confirm that both quests are gone.

I worked a lot on becoming exalted with Bloodsail killing the guy in Badlands for 4200 times every 5-7 minutes and i was about to bring all my other reputations with Steamwheedle Cartel back to exalted ( without loosing Bloodsail reputation ! ) before 7 of December 2010
.
AND THIS STUPID PATCH CAME AND NO MORE QUESTS !

Anyway all i know right now is i can bring the reputation up with Cartel ONLY ( without loosing Bloodsail reputation ! ) by killing Venture Co. goblins ! But with that i think i can get only to full Honored.

I hope they will put something in game to fix this reputation otherwise i worked for nothing !
One more thing....i went and i checked High Admiral "Shelly" Jorrik (this guy was giving rep with Bloodsail till full exalted )and it's still in the game AND IT'S STILL GIVING 5 REPUTATION TO BLOODSAIL ! So Bloodsail rep can still be obtained....but the guy it's spawning back every 24-48 hours and right now before 7 december has 2 guards level 85 !

As of Patch 10.1.5, this repeatable quest has been added back into the game.

The reward, Tesouro do Fiapo Agulhacerta has a chance of containing these re-introduced Leatherworking recipes:

Things to note:
Chave dos Grilhões dos Gordok is a low chance drop off any Gordok Ogre in Dire Maul North. The key is also unique, so you'll only be able to carry one at a time.
I'd recommend kiting as many ogres as you can as close to Knot as you can, to avoid having to run back and forth around the instance every time you loot a key.
The drop rate also sucks, I've been consistently only getting 1-3 keys per full clear of the North Wing.

It's called the Gordok Shackle Key - well, that's what these "tons o' fun" keep calling it. I think any of the ogres might have it, but I'm not sure if any specific ones do. Maybe the guards have a better chance of having one...

What am I talking about - you have it already, don't you?! Is that it there??!
