You can find the lake at 35,35. Most of the plants needed are underwater. The elementals are immune to ice.

They are all around the lake(Has no name, but it's in the Darkcloud Pinnacle area). The plants are orange/brown and scattered all throughout the lake.
Elementals are nearby, levels 27 or 28

I found the mobs hard to kill in close combat.
Fist of all, they DPS is crasy. Everytime they hit me, they damage around 90. And when they critt they damage is on 130. Sometimes the mobs uses a stun that last 3 sec. They even uses a curse or something that gives you 30% chans to miss. For casters they are not so hard but look out rogue, warrior, pala and drood, you wont take 2 at the same time.

the elementals do MAGIC damage, it ignores armour, 'swhy it looks like they hit so hard
equip yourself with +frost res items and youll be fine

Even as lvl 25 hunter these mobs arent hard to kill, they are immune for my poison stings... I can take like 2/3 at a time, so no big problems for hunter. I found them next to the water, and in the water.

they might look like water elementals but they do only fire dmg, even their melee is fire

Definetely not an easy quest.....lvl 26 hunter. The only real tough part is the lvl 29 elementals....they seem to love to suprise you.

Thist quest is pain in the butt for fire and especially frost mage. The elementals that hover in and around the pool are immune to frost spells and have very high resist rate on fire spells. So most of the time the only option is to spam AE or Arcane Missiles, and without the talents in Arcane tree Arcane Missiles gets interrupted very easily.

The problem is the herbs have a long respawn time. I circled the area three times for 15 minutes, yet recieved no respawns.

All I gotta say is this quest sucks for frost mages. Use your mana shield, fire ward and I found arcane spells hit better then fire spells.

Solo'd as a 27 Feral Druid.
I cast regrowth and regeneration before pulling with Faire Fire, then switched to bear form and cast demoralizing roar and kept mauling till they died.
Though cat form would be faster, the low amount of armor takes away our HP really fast.

No way in hell this should be a level 27 quest. The elementals are mostly level 29, hit for 70-80 per swing, and have a 3 second stun that also does about 150 damage.

At least if you're a warrior, don't even try this quest. It's impossible.

Soloable as a lv 29 hunter, with a lv29 boar. Remember to use Mend Pet, these elementals do much damage

i agree with that im a lvl 29 fire mage and i cant kill one with out them killing me. i think the best way to do for mages is to have a tank or somebody to take some of the blows for you.

Easy quest as a lvl 29 hunter with 29 pet. Just dps while the pet tanks. Watch your breathing though, as I have an undead main, I kept running out of air :p A lot of the plants are at the sides of the water also, not just in the water. The respawn on the plants is quite good, so you can really just do one area to get them all. If youre a miner, put on your minteral tracking thing, cos theres a few ores around the edge too.

I solo'd this quest as a 26 Protevtion Paladin. Very difficult because the lvl 29's hit very hard for their lvl. Average hit is between a 70 and upper 90's with the highest crit on me a 157. Be very careful also of the elementals using the instant cast fire spell. It causes u to be stunned and unable to cast. They like to use it as a finishing move. So make sure when u hit about 30% health remaining to throw a Holy Light down. It is possible to solo as 26 Prot Pally, just Seal of Crusader then cast that on it, immediatly put Seal of Righteousness on urself and keep the Consecration on the ground. Difficult quest, nto impossible, just takes time and tons of mana lol! Also be sure to have Retribution Aura turned on. It helps significantly.

Not easy for a mage either, they are immune to ice (wich mean you can't frost nova them or even frostbolt them, and no Cone of Cold either), and they have a resistance on fire too... so it leave you with arcane.

My tactic was to use Arcane missile from the farest I could go from them, then spam arcane explosion. But then again, I died 1 or 2 times and had to regen mana after every battle... definately not an easy quest.

Solo'd as a druid. You CANNOT pull more than one if you don't have a pet or if you're under lvl 30. Period. If you do, lose agro and pull just one again, they're spread out so they're easy to pull.

Solo'd as a 29 frost mage. not easy. They're immune to frost, so forget that, and resistant to fire spells, so you can use them but it's unreliable. imposible to kite efficiently, so don't bother. You might get one or two by blinking, but I just let them pound away. the only good thing is they have a low hp so if you can hit them, they do go down sorta quick. But, so do you.

My strategy, put up fire ward and dampen magic, pull with missiles, fire blast, spam ArEx till blast is up, and repeat those two till it dies. when fire ward fails, put up mana sheild and use missles. this takes alot of mana so have pots and gems at the ready. Even with over 2k mana, I used a gem almost every fight.

rinse repeat and get the hell out of there.

This was not that difficult for a 29 Frost spec.

As mentioned earlier, put up Fire Ward, Mana Sheild, and Dampen Magic. Pull at max range with fireball, then scorch, then AM till dead. At end of each, I had between 1/3 and 1/4 mana remaining. (2352 max mana)

You will have to drink after each fight.

Was fairly easy as 27 warlock, but then I guess most things are. Just make sure to pull them one at a time, rather fight one that you might not have to than risking a link and dying.

Their stun effect is evil, it seems to kick in at the worst times.

soloed as a 25 feral druid with a lot of difficulty. the 27s went down well enough, but the fights against 28s and 29s were mostly based on luck. did it in bear form and had to stun and switch out to heal. not easy, but definitely possible.

This quest sucks as a frost mage. As in, every talent point you have is basically useless, and the traditional frost mage methods of snare and kite are impossible as this is immune to frost. However, after several tries, I came up with a strategy that works well to solo this, even as a 0/0/x pure frost mage (for all the good those talents do you here, you might as well be 0/0/0...).

This is of course just my opinion, but this worked very well for me and I completed the quest with little difficulty after adopting these methods:

1. First, you must use Dampen Magic. It reduces all damage dealt by the elementals.

2. Second, before you pull, cast Fire Ward on yourself. This will absorb the damage, and Dampen Magic's effect will cause this to last longer. If you want to be extra safe, you can cast this 15 seconds before the pull, so the 30 second cooldown will be up at about the time your ward collapses.

3. When you fight the elemental, make sure you're facing a direction that's clear. The reason being, you can and should Blink out of its stun, but as you're stunned, you can't change direction. Make sure you're facing a good direction to Blink into. Don't burn Blink before it stuns.

4. Always pull with Fireball (or pyroblast if you have it). After this, you're using Arcane Missiles or Arcane Explosion only -- it's fire resist is high enough that you don't want to cast fire spells, at the same time, being as you can cast fireball/pyroblast before it aggros you, it just acts as a little bonus opening damage. Always open at max range to get as much DPS in before it reaches you.

5. Don't try to use Mana Shield, it really doesn't work very well; these things hit hard enough that you'll deplete your mana pool very rapidly.

As a fire mage, I found it easy to cast pyroblast, fireward, and keep casting pyroblast until the ward left (then fireball, fireblast and scorch from then on).

This is perfectly easy even as a frost mage.
Just cast mana shield + fire ward, throw a couple of fireballs, then scorch them like hell (it's a quick cast spell and doesn't take much mana) and if needed use fireblast or wand. :)

Just to the north of Darkcloud Pinnacle, there is a lake with water elementals, go there and there are some around the lake, and there are some underwater, just be careful not to aggro many water elementals.

Important notice, the "Scalding Elemental"s are fire based, they are immune to cold damage, and all fire damage done is reduced by about 60% against these targets, mages are going to have a REALLY tough time with these... they have about a 20% chance when they hit you to "Scald" you which is a three second stun... other then that bit of information, yes the plants are found all around the water.

Fortunately, for all the frost mages out there, both the casting speed increase and spell pushback prevention of Icy Veins also work with your fire and arcane spells. So despite most of your talent points in frost being useless, this one is definitely not. It won't prevent the stun, but you can blink out of that, and it means that for the rest of the time you can spam Fireball or Arcane Missiles uninterrupted.

If you're level 30+ (I realise it's a lv 27 quest, but if you've done a couple of instances before you reach 1KN there's a good chance you'll be 30) you can combine it with Cold Snap to potentially kill up to 4 with the spell pushback immunity (Icy Veins, kill 2 during duration, Cold Snap, Icy Veins, kill 2 during duration).

In any case, while they certainly aren't the easiest of mobs to kill, it's doable thanks to the tools given to mages.

The lake type thing is at 35,35 and the plants you need are mostly by the lake on the shore some are underwater but not alot it helps if you are nothing to do with frost cause the elementals that you are likely to face are frost and they use fire though so its really helpful to be not frost or anything to do with frost and to have atlest 5 in fire resistence

These guys hit 64-80 on my rogue normal,with a 130 crit.

Note for rogues:They are not immune to poisin. My Crippling Poisin worked against them nicely.

In case anyone is like me and leaps impulsively into the lake to gather incendia-- the way out of the lake is at either end of the lake's eggplant shape-- at 37, 39 or 33, 32. I share this as I spent some frantic minutes fighting through mobs, trying to find a spot to climb out at.

What GoilveigL2 posted was very very helpful in doing this quest as a frost mage; and I guess the same method could be applied for a fire mage too.

I did this at level 30:
1) Cast dampen magic on yourself
2) Put up your fire ward and wait a few seconds
3) Then pull with any spell and keep spamming arcane missiles

For me, the fire ward never collapsed during the fight and I always managed to kill each elemental my health unscathed. Also, as long as fire ward is up arcane missiles will not be interrupted as all the damage is absorbed.

Their moves are confirmed.
The Scalding Elementals, to me, are a little bit stronger than the Boiling Elementals They can use Scald which is a 3 second stun.

The Boiling Elementals have a 10 debuff called Steam Jet. It lowers your chance to hit by 30%.
Both mobs are slow but strong hitters and they crit a lot more than usual. But i think all in all they are pretty easy if you have burst damage. My 28 rogue never got below 50% even when i took on 2 at a time (evasion).

Now for the plants.
The plants are found mostly underwater but you can find an odd few around the edge of the water. Clear th mobs around the plant so you dont get unwanted pulls when trying to open. The elementals can aggro from pretty far away.
The plants underwater were hard for me to find at first. They are the same colour as the ground there on and usually close to a wall, not out in the open.

P.S.
For people who dont have first-aid and have to eat, ive found a kind of safe spot if you clear like 1 or 2 mobs. Co-ords are about 35,35. Between a small pillar and the cliff there is a part thats underwater but only by a little bit. You can rest or pull your mobs there for easier fighting and no pulls.

Done pretty easily as a lvl 27 rogue. They use scald pretty often to stun you for about 3 seconds which got very annoying. Not every plant has an elemental near it so that was a plus since I could just stealth around, gather the agave and stealth again. Only found one plant outside the water by the smaller pool so you'll be spending most of your time in the water. Also helpful to have a healing potion on you in case you pull two since they hit hard. & yes Crippling poison was a big help.

Very well near impossible as a frost mage level 26.

Frost spells are fully resisted, and fire spells get their damage halved. Arcane spells get interrupted within seconds. The 3 second stun leaves me open to get pretty much ganked.

Mages, all i can say is don't do this quest on your own.

Agave is the name of a botanical genus. Plants belonging to such have a history of spectacular, though infrequent blooms.

Incendia is french for "burned," which makes sense as these plants are growing in the "Boiling Pool"

Easily done as a lvl 27 shadow priest, just bubble and dps. Only thing for me was the amount of plants there actually are, not to many :/

Can't believe this quest is still so broken. Mobs are easy to kill as any class, but finding 10 of the damn herbs will take you 20 mins. This is one quest I won't be missing when Cataclysm drops.

I did this quest on my rouge it was NOT easy, i found the flowers around the lake in the water and behind rocks.

I think that they must have nerfed this quest recently. The elementals are doing around 50 per hit on an equal leveled player and they don't stun any more.

Arikara is a deadly creature that must be dealt with swiftly. In order to hunt her down you will need to light the sacred fire of life - this will summon Arikara.

Go now and harvest the rare Incendia agave plant. Once you have harvested enough agave, seek council with Magatha Grimtotem on Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff. She is a powerful shaman that can enchant the agave plant to create a powder that will light the fire.

Travel northeast to the Boiling Pool and gather Incendia Agave.
