This part of the quest summons a 40 elite Felguard. Needless to say, he WTFPWNED me the first time, no thanks to a wandering raptor.

Got him the second time though.

this was pretty tough for me as well i had to have another person to help me out about the same level to heal me while i tryed to take it out. also use your voidwalker to help distract it from time to time. or to use its sacrafice to bubble you for a little. otherwise you should be good to go. just bring a friend : )

I decided to give it a shot and predicted I would get owned. But nope, I soloed it at level 38 (affliction spec) easily. didn't use HS, pots or fear. Simply sent in the succubus, loaded him up on DoTs (including siphon life) and then just spammed drain life the entire fight. he went down easy, and my health never went under 85%. You should be able to kill him at level 38 easily. If you run OOM (which I didn't), just life tap, and you'll still be fine.

Nerf warlocks.

I have a question which I hope someone can answer.
I got the orb from one of the burning blade summoners in Desolace and then I went to Tabetha. After all the talking I had to fight the demon, I wasn't prepared and was killed by it. Then a timer came up which gave me 3 minutes to complete the quest, I wasn't able to rez in time and ended up failing the quest and I was in a hurry so I had to log in ghost form. I abandoned the quest later and now I don't know whether or not I can pick it up again. I talked to the warlock trainers in Org, the people at rachet but none of them give me the quest again. If anyone has an answer as to where I can find the quest again, please let me know.

This has happened to me twice, now: I manage to kill the summoned Felguard in the allotted time, and the quest says "Demon of the Orb slain: 1/1 (Failed)." I'm free to abandon the quest and try again, but the same thing happens.

Not really sure what to do about it--I can't go back to Ratchet without that cleansed orb, or I'll fail the quest permanently.

(EDIT: I figured it out...killing him's not enough; you've gotta talk to Tabetha before the timer runs out, too (duh).)

This was extremely easy for me. I was a lv40 lock, fully affliction specced at that point so I had Dark Pact. I stood back when Tabetha summoned it and I instantly feared and dotted it. I had my VW (any pet will work though) on passive and had it stand next to me to avoid aggroing other mobs. I chain-feared the demon and let the dots kill it. Whenever my pet's mana was full, I used Dark Pact and whenever Nightfall procced, i used Shadow Bolt. This is very easy to solo if you don't give it a chance to fight back.

Well i finished this quest yesterday (March 14 2007) I thought i wouldn't get my reward because like a dummy i turned in the Felhunter soul gem before speaking with Tabetha.After defeating the demon and went back to Ratchet I was able to turn in the quest and get my Orb.

EASLY solo'd by a 38 lock (me)
void of course.
this is where curse of weakness comes in handy.
just apply it, lifedrain, health funnel, lifedrain repeat.
takes a little longer, but NEVER pulled agro and finished with full hp mana.

Soloed as a lvl 37 lock. DOTted, chainfeared and spammed Life Tap. Wasn't spotless as I had to use HS but I managed.

Soloed this as a 36 affliction lock. Had 21 spell dmg from SM, Orb and Dagger, not that it would make a huge difference.

It was _piss easy_, for me, and I do not see how you needed to use a health stone or a pot.

When she summoned him I had Amplify Curse waiting, cast CoA, Corruption, Siphon Life and Immolate, all with VW holding aggro. Lifetapped for full mana, bad habit, and then started draining his life.. Eventually stole aggro, but just feared him. He didn't resist. I just kept on dotting/fearing/draining his life until I finally got shadow trance and killed him with a shadow bolt crit for around 400.

Anyway, I had about 2.8k mana and 1.3k hp. You might get unlucky with him resisting fear or something, but he only resisted once for me. He got a few hits, but I managed to fear him, dot him and drain life to full HP again.

Realllllll easy, did it at lvl40 as a destruction lock (hadn't played my lock in months, forgot about this quest =), it is good to pull a pet out for the initial aggro, but after u fear him off......your pet becomes useless at that point :p
Chain fear and kept hitting the dots, conflagate and shadowburned to finish him off, got my Fire orb OH with the Hypnotic dagger so I'm happy =D

pretty east i used felhunter and then i just put up all my dots and fear it and use shadowbolt that was pretty fast :P

this was quite hard with a level 36 Demon spec Warlock, though i was able to kill the demon on my third attempt.

Fear is your friend!

and yes, clear out the surrounding area around the house before fighting the demon, as Fear draws aggro.

Just done this as a level 37 Demonology lovk, used Voidy to tank dotted him with Curse of Agony, Corruption and Immolate then hit fear... rinse and repeat... Blast him to hell while he runs as you only have a short time. Managed it with 38 seconds to spare.

Should also add that the guy was an elite so he is very tough.

Tabetha is at 46,57 to save people having to click her name up top to find her.

Solo'd it at 40 with an Affliction spec, was a damn-sight easier this time than it was back when I did it first time on my first Warlock (Destruction spec). I struggled like crazy before, failed 4 times, was having to fear the thing around, makes me wonder if this hasn't been nerfed at all...

This time, fight started at roughly 2:34, elite was dead by 1:46.

Sent in Voidwalker, landed all 4 dots, Lifetapped (3x) back to full mana, Lifedrained back to full health, Voidwalker lost aggro at the 2nd Lifedrain, just Lifedrain tanked him down, didnt go below 90% HP after gaining aggro.

As someone said earlier, nerf 'locks :)

Had the imp out at 37 as a Demon spec. Just dot-fear-drain life-repeat. 44 seconds left over.
I had a single add which wasn't a big deal, just same tactic as the elite. However I was pretty lazy so I just aggro'd a bunch more to die and took the spirit rez before flying back to Ratchet.

:D I've just did it!!! lvl 36 with the help of lvl 34 lock, in the 3rd try. I've failed just because of 1 sec in the first try, and 2-3 sec in the second, but with a good organization (my friend was responsible for dots), voids (sacrificing when they're about to die and then---> fel domination&summon void), 1 heavy mageweave bandage, 1 mana pot... and success!! 47 seconds left.. huhhh my heart's still crazy I feel it on my neck! :D:D:D

I completed this quest at 38 with a Demonology spec. I used my voidwalker (his torment kept the felguard off of me), Curse of Agony, Corruption, & Immolate for DOT, and Shadowbolted him until he died. Fear is handy if it comes after you, but not necessary unless you don't use your pet. As indicated by others, it is important to clear the entire area in case the spiders and raptors come after you.

Keep a soulstone equipped in case you die as you kill the felguard, that way you can res immediately and complete your quest. You cannot complete quest until you talk to Tabetha again after the felguard is killed and this must be completed within the time frame.

If you fail the quest, simply talk to Tabetha again after you abandon it and you can pick it up again.

Honestly this guy shouldn't be elite, as so many who have posted before me I soloed this at 38. I let my VW tank him until the VW was almost toast then fear kited him the rest of the way, finished w/ 90 seconds left.

soloed as a lvl38 destro spec. Sen my void to tank, waited till the void's health dropped by 500, then DoTed and began to spam shadowbolt. The demon attacked me when he was ~30% so i just continued to spam shadowbolts and DoTs. Used a healthstone once.

Serious bug almost happened to me...With the help of a friend, I creamed the demon, talked to Tabetha before the timer ran out, and got the Cleansed Orb...however, it didnt give me the next step of the quest! So when I went back and talked to the lady in Ratchet, she took everything but the Cleansed Orb, and then nothing...she told me I had to talk to her Acolytes, but her acolytes had nothing to say.

Fortunately it appears that they fixed this part...I was able to go back to tabetha and talk to her, and she gave me the quest to return the clensed orb...The quest should probably give you the clensed orb when you take the "Return the Clensed orb" quest, instead of after you defeat the demon, just so this confusion wouldn't happen. But it looks like you now CAN turn in the trapped demon souls in Ratchet, even if you don't yet have the "return the cleansed orb" quest. However, I got the "return" quest and got back to ratchet before logging off. No knowing what would have happened if I'd logged off.

Rewards 3250 experience as of 2.3.

As others have stated, the demon is cake at 38 (and earlier) ..... though I nearly failed when I hit banish instead of health funnel. Still passed with 10 seconds left, though.

Solo'd as 36 Affliction. I actually used my Imp. I fear-kited him from the start and managed to land each fear (after failing first 2 times tho). But I saved mana by only using it for fear and dots, then the imp took care of the rest.

OK here's a question maybe someone has an answer. I chose to go with the felhound when i selected the quest instead of the infernal..I went to dos...used the shard to get the stone from an infernal. went back to ratchet.then off to dusty land :I hate that place: Then talked to tabetha. Killed the 40 elite with the help of too passerbys there. turned the quest in to taby. then went back to ratchet to turn the quest in there...I turned it in and the Lock trainer made my orb. The orb of Noh'orahil Then she told me to talk to her Acolytes so when i did that they didnt really say much...now i didnt get the felhound to summon him or whatever..now my question is..did i screw up somewhere like when i took the soul from the infernal should it have been from someone else...I mean i did get the orb from the dude that walks with the IMP. I forget his name...But it wont let me talk to her Acolytes inside the tower at ratchet..they dont say anything...and tabby didnt give me the next part to the quest either So im lost :-(

Ok, i was just ganked near tabetha, i ressed and went talk to her. She summoned lvl40 elite demon and i soloed him with less than half HP and half mana. I was lvl41, so u can survive if you're not ready, but i suggest that u get prepared yourself before talking to her :) piece of cake ;)

Done as 36 destro. Used minor mana (yes, minor...forgot to put the big guns in my action bar beforehand), healthstone, scroll of stam II (just on me, not the void), and elixir of wisdom.

Played it pretty badly, forgot to let void build aggro so he basically did nothing and I had to keep the demon feared the whole time. Resisted about 4 times in a row once which hurt, but the rest of the time it hit pretty reliably. Ran out of mana once so had to tap and bandage during a fear (again played badly, didn't have time to do the full bandage before he came back). Never at serious risk of death, biggest problem was time; killed with 18 seconds left, got back to Tabetha at like 6 seconds, was really worried I'd miss clicking through the quest somewhere, but got it at the last second (and dinged!). Had to wand at the end because of mana and was too scared to life tap at mid-low health. Also never worried about adds, even with the void chasing the guy around the whole time, never had any problems.

SO if I can do it with all those screwups and destro spec, you can do it too :)

Agreed. Just did it at 37, the "safe way"--with my Voidwalker. Send him in and use DoTs to drain away at his health. Use Health Funnel as needed to keep the VW punching away, and watch your threat. Required one mana potion.

This is a slow process, however, so keep an eye on the quest timer.

As a level 35 warlock I had an extremely difficult time soloing this. All my fears got resisted past the first one and my DoTs were just not doing enough damage. After about five or so real tries I called in my buddy to come help.

Just solo'd this quest as a 37 demo spec. Had absolutely no problem, didn't use a pot or a hs. Had to fear once just because i didn't watch my threat but other than that this is one of the easiest class quests i've done. also note i had well over a min left on the quest timer.

the demon is a lvl40 elite, try not to be too low level when u fight him, or most of ur spells will be resisted or miss. I did it when I'm lvl 40 (unintentionally).

Very, very difficult to solo at level 35 if not downright impossible. Tried every approach suggested on wowhead and thottbot and there are too many resists to fear and DoTs and no amount of pots/bandages/healthstone/lifetap could supply that much mana. I suggest seeking help at levels lower than 36.

I solo'd this yesterday on my 35 "Arcane" Mage. Took three tries to figure out the best method. Clear all the aggro first. Thats a must! The succubus and other mobs seem drawn to the Orb dropping Summoner like magnets if you don't clear them first. As to the Summoner and his pet, I knew I wasn't going to survive both so I buffed up ( this includes an armor potion that I make myself ( Alchemy/Herb spec) +60 Armor for 1 hour ) which really helps. Having already tried the summoner once after clearing the field first, I noted that he was realtively easy to kill but I made the mistake of trying to battle him and his pet simultaneously. That didn't work. My second try I just killed the summoner and looted him and let the pet kill me. Since I have the Glyph of Evocation I could have used it and then killed the pet too but I was lazy and didn't. Good idea to have at least one healing pot ready and have your mana gem charged as well.

I was just totally screwed over during this quest on my level 38 warlock by a level 40 mage named Lanthore on the Tanaris realm...

I had just exited Mudscprocket to head to Tabetha's when I passed Lanthore on his mount. He apparently turned around and followed me to Tabetha's (inside the hut) and as I accepted the quest he then walked outside with her (and ahead of me) into the graveyard. The felguard appeared and naturally (Lanthore is a frost mage) the demon began attacking him because he was closest and attacked first. By doing this, Lanthore completely screwed me and I got no credit for the kill.

So, was what the other player did intentional? It sure looked like it was, especially since Lanthore was headed towards Mudsprocket and turned around to follow me all the way to Tabetha's. Despite the fact that there is a mage quest that takes place in the same spot there was no excuse for any player pulling a stunt like this (regardless of reason or faction). None.

My advice to warlocks on this quest is to make sure that no other players are anywhere near Tabetha's before accepting this quest. And by the way, if this happens to you, you will lose the orb and the entire quest chain ends here, even if you abandon and attempt to start over.

EDIT: I was decided to re-check Tabetha the next morning and luckily I was able to pick-up the quest again; defeating the demon was rather easy (just let my voidwalker do the job while I stood back and hit it with shadowbolts).

hi...i did the quest for cleansed infernal orb...was fighting the felbeast died came back he was still there fought him and he vanished...and then it said failed quest didnt knw what to do...so accidently abandoned it becuz frankly got really frustrated....now i cant find tht quest again...plz
1) tell me how i can get the quest back....and also wondering
2) if i beat that felbeast do i get to keep him as a pet?

Failed the first time as a Level 37. Waited around by Tabetha for the quest to re-appear--it didn't. Came back a few hours later, and it still wasn't back.

Two days later, I'm back to see Tabetha for a different quest, lo and behold, this quest is back. Completed easily, this time, as a Level 39.

I tried it solo at 35 (affliction/voidwalker) and timed out when he was about 50% down. It usually took 2-3 attempts at corruption, Curse of Agony, and Immolate before they would hit. I had mana and health enough to get him the rest of the way down, having used one healing potion right before he buggered off.

It seems to me (based on my own experience and reading the other comments) that 36 is the minimum to solo him due mostly to the time constraint. A skilled player with good spellpower and hit rating could possibly do it at 35 (the required level for the quest to be available).

(On my second attempt a passing level 36 priest, jumped in and helped burn him down)

I'd say this is doable for any 36 lock (maybe earlier) with or without heirlooms.

As a 36 destro lock without heirlooms and with my imp up(accepted the quest without reading or checking what it was) i used immo and shadowboltspam + fear and he died with me around 700 hp (1300 total) and 0 mana (2200 total).

Ah, a summoner's orb--this is where the taint must be coming from. We must exorcise the demon within it if you're to use it. That I can do easily.

You're the one who has the hard job. You must kill the demon once I release it.

And you'll have to be quick. If you take too long then he'll return to the orb and we'll have to start over!

So get yourself ready, <name>. Prepare your strongest spells and keep your potions handy, and go get a friend if you have one. Because this isn't going to be pretty.
