You can avoid the "Black Sludge" debuff by turning and running as soon as they start casting, its a long cast and a short range, plus unless you can remove disease 54% slower attack is a huge pain. There are lower mobs then the 52-54 ones, if you go farther east, there are more spread out tar-pools with 50-52 mobs.

You should go for the Tar Lord's, they drop tar almost everytime you defeat them. With the others the drop rate is really horrible. Tar Lord's range from 53 to 54. Solo'd this with a 49 Paladin and was doable although I had to drink often.

Solo'd with a 49 Mage. It was red, but it's an easy quest.

I HEART LOWER LVLS like lvl 50-52 theyt drop good herbing needs and the super sticky tar is about a 50% drop, if anyone knows how to get coordinates cause idk how contact snekybutters HORDE Realm-gorefiend please

Just outside the Horde Camp where also the FP is, Tar lords drop the item, the Tar lords can be found around (50,20)

The Tar Creepers/Beasts drop it most - theyre found around the eastern tar pits.

This can be done easily by any class at level 48ish, as the Tar Beasts drop the item needed and are 50-51.

This quest is such a pain in the ass if u are a melee class, every second u get unarmed or they dodge ur attacks, I'm starting to question wheter this quest is worth the exp.

i'd say 20% or so on the drop rate. also ran into a big 55 elite trex while farming this quest, it tickled to say the least. hit for around 650

Easy enough to do, just the drop rate seems to be very low - I can't tell that it drops off one better than the other though, tbh.

Pretty decent drop rate around 46,33 on lower level mobs.

The drop rate is terrible for all of the tar-* mobs. They do, however, respawn quickly.

The Tar Lords and Tar Lurkers seem to have a higher drop rate than the Tar Creepers

Very easy for Feral Druid, very bad drop rate though, it took me about 1 hour to complete this Q.

not to brag but it took me about 12 minutes to do during the midsummer buff not sure if it was luck or whatever i got about 12 in a row killing the Lords they go down pretty fast with any physical damage they are just casters, watch out for their entangle roots, its a pain.

I have just wrapped up both the Un Goro soil & Super Sticky quests. I worked the guys in the basic area of 48, 33 & worked out in the basic area. Got lots of the crystals, too. I am a level 52 BE Ret Pally & I had no real issue with even the level 54's. Make sure you have your hand ready to dispel the creeper they spell you with sometimes, and hit them with one of your judgements & then Holy Wrath if you have it. I was also taunting individuals away from the groups, so I was basically picking them off at my liesure.

I somehow ended up with this quest early on and was able to kill these tar monsters without much issue as a elemental shaman. After a lot of fighting, healing, and drinking potions, I was able to kill enemies 4 to 6 levels higher than I was. Completing the quest took a while with my shaman being Level 48 and the monsters I was running into being 52-54 but it went without a hitch and no death.

This quest is basically free XP for a Fire Mage. These mobs take -insane- amounts of damage from Fire spells (my 48 Fire Mage has been critting with Pyroblast in the ~1900 range instead of his usual ~1200; my highest Pyro crit so far was 2058). It is possible to literally two-shot some of these mobs, even at my level. Were I Lv52 or 53 with more Spell Power I might even be one-shotting some of them.
One of Blizzard's little gifts to the game's true glass cannon.

as i fire mage myself i did 2.5k crit at lvl 50, very easy xp so if ur a fire mage do this quest early as good xp also

This is a great quest if you want very easy XP. For me the drop rate was about 30%, so 30-40 kills did it. They don't run, they stand far apart, they are easy to spot, there are many of them and there are no other mobs to worry about IN the area, only around (if you stay in the area south of Marshal's Refuge, if you wander off to pits farther away, this is not correct. But there's no need to do that.)

This quest is an obvious reference to Marijuana subculture.

The questgiver's name is a reference to Train Wreck, which is a strain of marijuana, and Super Sticky itself is a slang term for cannabis.

Head to the tar pits in northern Un'Goro Crater, and collect me some tar. Not just any tar, now, you'll need to get it from the beasts that live around the tar pits. Regular tar just simply isn't sticky enough.

The plant-like creatures contain chlorophyll in their skin, and mixed with the tar, it's super sticky!
