Drop rate is alittle low, I guess around 35% and the stalkers are at the eastern coast of the Hinderlands. They are invisible so Catseye Goggles or some sort of stealth detection is handy.

Hi just to let you know where to start looking for these things.. in the Hinterlands go to 54,53 and work your way up the side from there.. these above comments didn't help me much to find them... east is very broad when your looking a map

Just letting everyone out there know that the drop rate for these things increased. Thinking because of the 2.1 patch that just came out several days ago. Got all my flanks in 15 minutes. Either that or I'm one extremely lucky son of a nub.

was done in ten minutes. 73;56 area had tons. i had two-three on my VoidWalker at one time till quest was completed. may have been a fluke but worked for me.

Maybe I'm just incredibly unlucky, but a shammy friend of mine and I must have taken an hour to get all ten. Horrible drop rate, at least for me - I didn't get a single one until we'd killed at least thirty.

Drop rates were about 20% for me. Collected all 5 pretty fast though. As my frost mage I simply collected aggro while mounted (2 or 3 mobs at a time) Frost nova'd then AOE...

This quest kinda sucks... lmao...
but it's not the worst.
Took about 15 kills to get all my meat, but worth it. I love mah baby!!!

Drop rate in my case:
Lv 47 Silvermane: 8% (1 out of 12)
Lv 48 Silvermane 40% (4 out of 10)
Not so bad. Since they are stealthed, you don't have much choice to choose those Lv48s though.

Just an update, hasn't been one in a bit, Droprate now seems better, I got 50%. Killed 10, Looted 5 that had the meat. Started at given coords of 54,53 and worked my way down along the cliff to The Altar of Zul. The only thing I noticed is that 4 of the 10 I killed were bugged and stuck in trees, makes it VERY hard to see, I am a hunter , so had see hidden up and it was no problem, seen them on the map, then just put the pet on aggressive. If you keep your mouse cursor on the mob when it dies, be quick to loot, if he falls in the tree where you can't target you might loose it.

I had a really good drop rate, got my 5 flanks in 6 kills.

5/20 ... 25% drop rate. Got 3 off first three kills, then had to go through 17 more to get other 2. I got 4 off of the 48s and one off of a 47.

It seems the drop rate hasn't improved at all; the above posters just got lucky. Drop rate for me was 13.16% (38 kills to get 5 flanks). Here's the dot chart:

The droprate for the Flanks seems to have been significantly increased, I just got 5 of them in 7 mobs.

Despite being located entirely in The Hinterlands, this quest counts towards the Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement, as does the follow up.

68,57 . Less than 2 mins and Flanks were in my bag ^.^ and the Rate is very high 5/6 mobs . Good luck :)

I dont know whats going on, but I've killed over 30 of these and haven't gotten a single drop for the quest. They aren't stealthed either. I'm in the area where wowhead and quest helper says to kill them. When I put my mouse over them questhelper says its the mob that drops the item I need. They aren't stealthed and they don't drop the item though. Am I doing something wrong, or is the game glitched?

They have definitely changed this quest. The wolves are no longer stealthed and the drop rate is much improved (40% is what I got).

Try the coordinates 30 54, there are a mess of them all around there. They are located in Shaol'watha, the eastern most ruins, north of Jintha'alor.

If you're coming from the west which I assume you will be, keep going east past the grey savage owl beasts.

This part of the quest text seems like it is a reference to other lore. Does anyone know where I can find that other lore?

Sprite darters are omnivores--that means they eat both meat and vegetation. If your egg here's gonna hatch, we best be prepared. Some good eats for these little guys are flanks of meat, raw and juicy, believe it or not. I was never able to find out why, but it has somethin' to do with Elune's plan for the elves... maybe they were to be protectors or somethin', I don't know.

I'll take care of the egg for now, why don't you get me some good Silvermane stalker flanks for 'em to eat when he's hatched.
