This quest chain seems to be an incomplete one.

After you turn in the Chained Essence of Eranikus to Itharius and go to visit Umbranse, the chain dead ends with its completion. He will not point you to another questgiver or give you any task to complete. Though it would seem that what he says would, logically, lead to another part, it does not, which is a disappointment.

Messages to the GMs and on the forums have yielded nothing except messages that the quest is "working as intended".

I spoke with a GM today (04-01-2007) and he confirmed that this quest is indeed broken and will be fixed sometime in the furture.

Umbranse is standing in a shack in in Winterspring at 68,27, east of Mon Horror Den.
Chal Fairwind, lvl 53 Night Elf, stands just outside the shack and is hostile to Horde but won't attack unless you attack first.

If you have Chained Essence of Eranikus when you speak to Itharius he will give you Oathstone of Ysera's Dragonflight that leads to this quest.

This quest as of patch 2.3.2 now give 6100 exp upon completion. \

Unfortunately, confirming Mongatsumi's info today. Quest still gives 6100 xp, Umbranse still tells you he needs your help in the quest text, and there's still no followup.

I'm sure the devs had the best of intentions in finishing up this questline, even if all it ended up being was a pointer quest to Silithus, but at this point I'd just assume it's not going to happen.

I highly doubt this questline will be continued in WotLK, and I doubt that the Emerald Dream will ever be a Raid instance even more.

The Emerald Dream will most likely be a new area introduced in one of the expansions, perhaps the next one after Wrath. They'll introduce a new Hero Class that has something to do with the Emerald Dream and Druids (Just like Death Knights and the Lich King) and raise the lvl cap by 10 levels, then add the Emerald Dream as the leveling area.

If you once got that Chained Essence of Eranikus from Sunken Temple,
You can talk to this man, and after you finish the dialog , you will receive the item that begins a quest.

My guess is, that they will continue the quest line, right before the emerald dream expansion gets out =)

As of August 31st, 2009, This questline still has no continuance. Here's to hoping the next expansion will finish it, or we may be stuck with a cliff edge for an ending until Emerald Dream's expansion is released.

This quest will most likely never be continued because the in the AQ Opening Chain, Eranikus is purified and therefor it would be pointless to continue this when he has already been saved.

completing this quest, counted for 3 completed quests in my achievement.

normally that is the result of you completing a quest which had breadcrumb-quests attached to it, ( for those unfamiliar with the term, a quest that simply leads you to speak with another questgiver to begin the "proper" quest ), I am personally unaware of any breadcrumbs that lead you to this particular chain :s

Regardless as to wether or not it has breadcrumbs, going to Itharius in the swamp of sorrows and doing this small chain is worth it for the 3k quest achievement or loremaster.

If you're missing your Chained Essence of Eranikus, just ticket a Game Master, the item is a quest reward so they should be able to easily verify if you can get it or not. Thats what I did, ticketed a GM, asked for it back, got it, and then got some seriously easy 4 or 5 quests done in my achievements as a result.

Just confirming that it's still incomplete as of 4.0.1. Probably won't be done (or simply removed entirely) until Cataclysm.
