This is pretty straightforward. You automatically complete this quest after completing all four of the individual chapter quests. It's worth significantly (5 times) more XP than the individuals, and the reward items are pretty good.

You can pretty much buy all the pages (except page 26 which seems somewhat rarer) from the AH - about 10 silver a page - which considering the XP gained is pretty good value.

I recommend completing this quest toward the end of your stay in Stranglethorn. Most of the pages can be collected thru the many other quests in the area simply as static loot drops; just stick them in the bank. By the time I was halfway done my first quests I was only three pages short... 30 silver at the AH and I was good to go.

My biggest piece of advise would be to always have at least 8 or 10 available slots in your bags when looking for these pages. They drop constantly and having to run back and forth to the bank can be a big pain. You don't have to turn in the chapters in order, so once you get one, go back to Barnil to free up some bag-space.

Note that unlike the page collection quest in Ashenvale , these pages are not completely sequential. I spent hours on my first character trying to obtain pages like 3,5 and 7 that don't exist.

If you have the money you can buy all pages for around 40s a piece, like i did for my alt.

40s x 15 = 6g for the xp, just give me some more where i can change money into xp!

On Blood Furnace, the pages sell in the AH for around 15s, so it's easier to just buy them rather than wait for them to drop.

I had most of the pages that I had collected back on my main a while ago when I was questing in STV, and sometimes I would get more than 1 of the samep age, so I would just save them in my bank cause I knew I was gonna make an alt sooner or later, and now here I am on my 34 druid, about to go start the quest with most of the pages, I had to buy 2 off the AH, and I just gotta get page 14 and I'm done.

As soon as I dinged 30 on my warrior, I took 2G to the AH and bought every page required for this quest. Most were under 6s each. It got me almost 30% of the level. Hard deal to beat for 2 gold.

Second best quest in the game.

I propose that everyone who puts pages in the AH does so for under 10 silver. Usually they're 30 silver and up which is too heavy to buy them. I mean at this level you can AFFORD them but most people are saving for their mount. Be nice and sell 'em cheap!

Grinded out half of the pages, then bought the rest of em for 10-15s a piece on the Kael'thas server. Got an easy 775 exp per chapter, and 4700 exp for the complete turn in.

I had three of the four chapters in my backpack, and when I got the fourth I went to turn the quest in, however, when I tried to complete the quest I noticed that the three done chapters were simply gone, and I had no idea where they were. I certainly haven't discarded them or put them in the bank. Sucks.

On my server, the pages are exorbitantly expensive on the alliance AH - but you can buy them for a fraction of the price on the neutral auction house in Booty Bay. So be sure to check there if the prices on your faction's auction house are too high!

As an addendum to Truenos, with instant mail between your characters, I STRONGLY advise rolling a level 1 "bank" character in SW/IF or ORG and mailing all your pages to it as you get them. You can sell your pages for about 10-30 silver on the AH, and you can save/purchase the pages as you need without sacrificing valuable bag space. (Added perk is any mailbox is now effectively an auction house.) Happy hunting!

My pally just hit 40 doing this quest. What I did was a combination of farming and buying for this. Just do all of the lowest level quests in STV, especially the troll and rebel ones. By the time you finish those and a few of the "Mastery" quests you should have well over half of the pages. If you check out the prices for all of the pages, you can just figure out exactly when the pages you have left will cost you little enough that you don't mind buying them.

I dinged 40 turning this in and then immediately turned around and headed back to Dustwallow to finish out all of those new quests added in 2.3 that I was too low level for when I did Dustwallow in the low-mid 30s. It was probably the fastest leveling I'll see until I'm doing the Linkin quests in my high 40s.

By the way, you can still use this method to keep your quest log and inventory uncluttered:

1) Pick up this quest
2) Pick up one or two chapter quests and turn them in (Can't do this without having 1)
3) Abandon the main quest to free up quest and inventory space until completing other chapters

It removes your existing chapters from your inventory, and you can get them back at any time by speaking to Barnil Stonepot again.

This quest is a huge waste. I never bothered after that first (waste of) time and look I still successfully reached level 70.

You can use AH on BB for pages. It's only place where Horde turn also pages in!

Normally neutral AH is boring, but for pages it's good enough. Search first on neutral AH in BB, then AH in your main city.
Collecting pages is faster and you get plenty XP.

Reason for AH is also because many room the pages used. It's best to focus first on AH, because pages are saved in mailbox. Wait with mailbox open until you have all pages!
Then make room in your bags, go to questgiver and turn in all pages. Ping!
Use your paper to write down which you need and which you got.

I got every page from AH for around 15s-30s except page 8 which was only available for 75s =/

Total Price spent in AH for all pages was 3.95Gold

I tried really hard to find pages 8 , 10 and 20 , even though i found all other in less than an hour , while doing other quests in STV . The pages drop from any mob or npc in the area , including the pirates near the booty bay . When i was done with the pages ( put an 56 lvl mage to AOE groups of mobs ) it was really funny , how the pages i couldn't find no matter what i did , kept droping from random mobs . Finally i think i m left with 3 of each 8/10/20 page in my inventory . :P

If luck isn't on your side, and you've been searching for one last page in a chapter, it might be worthwhile to check the Goblin Auction House in Booty Bay.

There is uaully a large selection available without too much of a cost. Saves you a trip back to a capital city or from having to ask other players in the zone.

When I was doing this quest recently (for the sixth time), I used a Netherweave bag which has plenty of space. In order for the bag to remain uncluttered and highly organized, I put the pages in order.

Row 1 - 1, 4, 6, 8
Row 2 - 10, 11, 14, 16
Row 3 - 18, 20, 21, 24
Row 4 - 25, 26, 27

Note that chapter 4 has three pages, so when you've completely gotten them all, you'll have one empty space (if you use the Netherweave bag).

Organization helps.

Update:

This quest works with Refer-A-Friend bonus.

At level 36, the individual chapters quests are 3,300 experience each. (1,100 + 2,200 R-A-F bonus)
The main quest to turn in all the chapters is 19,650 experience. (6,550+13,100 R-A-F bonus)

I found that if you scout for these pages at Kurzen's Compound, they drop from the "Jungle Medicine Men" & "Jungle Fighters" near the lumberplant building with the big blade. It has taken a while just to find 6 pages. I suggest you buy them off the Booty Bay AH. It's quicker. But if you decide to sell pages that you already have, I suggest that you sell them for cheap; you get more buyers!

If, like me, you lost patience with this quest when you first came to STV and just came back at lvl 77 for the achievement, it is an excellent opportunity to get revenge on all those mobs that ganked you when you were lvl 40. I think I spent twenty minutes laughing manically while I repeatedly killed all the trolls in Zul'Kunda Ruins to get the last page.

This counts as 5 quests towards Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms.

Upon accepting the quest, you are given 4 mini quests to turn the collected pages into chapters. Each one counts as a quest towards Loremaster and the final turn in of all chapters counts as a quest as well.

I find the greatest advantage of doing it the purchase-then-AH-what-you-find way is the convenience.

If you buy all the pages from the AH and then sell the pages off as and when you get them, you don't have to bother with storing all those pages, or even making a note (mental or physical) of which pages you have. If you get your bank alt or your AH alt to start looking from level 20 then you will often get many of them for a good deal and end up making a profit from the quest.

I thought this was pretty neat, this quest was actually designed by Tigole (Kaplan) himself.

Level 33 Warrior - 1100xp each Chapter quest and 5500xp from this quest, total of 10950. Well worth it considering how easy it is to acquire the pages with some gold. Just head to Booty Bay and go to the neutral Auction House, click the quest category and then type in Stranglethorn and hit enter, you'd be unlucky not to find at least one of each page on there with a buyout price.

If you are lazy and have about 20 spare gold, all pages can be easly bought in the AH. Don't go to the Booty Bay action house but to the main action house.

I've seen al pages at least 5 times. I think this is the best en easiest way if youre going for the achievement and are high level. (What is 20 g at lvl 80 ?)

If possible, you may actually want to check the prices on both your faction AH and the neutral AH. I was able to find the pages cheaper on the neutral AH.

At level 80, the 4 chapter quests give 6s60c each with the final quest giving 39s, for a total of 65s40c. The quest rewards sell to the vendor for (56s95c for the boots, 7s50c for the potions & 20s for the armor kits) 84s45c. This gives a total of 1g49s85c, if you vendor the quest rewards. More of you auction the pots & kits.

a good place to farm the pages is lake nazferiti in SV on my 42 lock i picked up half the pages pretty quickly (note i am on aleria so if it dosent work it could be a server issue)

Yeah, I dont get why so many people hate this quest and why it's been said to be the "worst quest in WoW" by it's own designer.
It's a pretty easy quest to do while you're running about leveling in stranglethorn and actually the book itself if you read it all is a nice little bit of lore for us lore lovers.
Any pages you dont get you can usually pick up from the auction house in booty bay for like 10 silver and you get pretty nice rewards, a tonne of exp for doing so. I dont see the problem with it personally; its actually one of my favorites.

I found some pages, bought some on the faction AH, and others on the neutral AH. Prices ranged from 4 silver to 2g25s on both AHs (this is on Tanaris server); I spent about 6g on all pages.

Received 1100 XP on each Chapter, as mentioned above, but got 6550XP for completion; lvl 34, patch 3.2.2.10505.

As the quest text says, "I was able to gather most of the pages but many are still strewn about the jungle. Collect the pages to complete each of the four chapters." That's why you're only grabbing a few pages.

I had this quest before, and got tired and dropped it. Now Im back as a lv77 to finish it (I want the achievement) but the quest isn't coming up for me. I turned on low-level quests on my mini-map but the NPC just says hi, doesnt offer it to me.

With heirloom this quest gives 1200 XP per Chapter quest and 7200 XP for last and final quest. Added together it gives a total of 12000 XP

So, I went back to get these done on my 80, since I'm working on my Loremaster and I had skipped them all way back when, because they seemed like a giant pain (because they were... are).

Bought all the pages at the local AH, save for one, which I got at Booty Bay, but the price was reasonable. Spent about 5g in total.

But then, I couldn't figure out how to combine the pages into chapters. I spent a good 10 minutes asking guildies, searching the intertubes, trying combinations of shift, drag, and right- and left-click. Because I'm a dork. Don't be a dork.

Get all the pages, then go talk to Barnil. Surprise! He's actually got 4 more quests to offer you, which will actually take all those pages and turn them into the chapters he wants, which will then allow you to actually complete the quest.

My leveling guild kept multiple complete sets of this in the guild bank at a time when most of the guild was in their 30s. When you discovered Hemet's camp and the quest you would suddenly realise what all those pages in the guild bank were for and would head down to Booty Bay to pick up a set. As you continued questing in Stranglethorn you would pick up pages which would all go back in the guild bank for the next person.

If you don't have a guild that does this, there are two strategies you can take. Which one you choose depends on the price of pages in your local auction house.

1. Cheap prices at AH: Buy them and turn in the quest. Vendor any that you pick up after this.
2. Expensive prices at AH: Do other quests in Stranglethorn Vale and hang on to at least one of every page you get. Send the rest to a bank alt and stick them in the auction house. Auction them one-at-a-time; don't sell stacks of them. The people buying them want exactly one of each page, no more. You should only need to collect about half the pages and sell them in order to make enough money to buy the ones you are missing.

Of course, there's no reason to stop collecting them after you have finished the quest if there's a healthy pile of gold to be made at the auction house.

One thing that definitely helps when you turn in the pages is activating a MOLL-E if you don't have room in your packs to carry all the pages :)

They nerfed this quest into Oblivion. You now only have to find a single page, and it drops off the first mob you kill.

Got a quest here to find Page 14, but the old page does not work, have to loot the new one(s). so basically vendor em if you have pre-patch ones laying around for alts....

He trusted me to proofread the manuscript of his novel, The Green Hills of Stranglethorn. Everything was going well, but a large gust of wind blew through the camp and scattered the pages everywhere!

I was able to gather most of the pages but many are still strewn about the jungle. Collect the pages to complete each of the four chapters.

I will help you organize them. Return the chapters to me once you have all four.
