The quest text contains a reference to "The Neverending Story" where a stone giant creature called Rockbiter tells a story of his home which was swallowed up by a terrible "nothing".

As of 14.11.2007 this quest is no longer available at Rockbiter. Instead, you just go directly to Shay Leafrunner and start the escort quest.

This quest now rewards 4900 xp as of patch 2.3.

I completed at lvl 45 Feral Druid easy! The quest after is nearly imposable for a 45 Feral Druid. I got 4900xp and no rep. Confirmed coordinates 38,10.

This is one of the most memorable quests in Classic World of Warcraft, and one that I have remembered even well after the Cataclysm destroyed the old world we knew, and well over ten years after game launch.

Shay is the only young Night Elf girl I know of in-game to date, she was actually shorter than a Night Elf female if you had her side by side. :)

I am no good, <name>. I was 'spose to be watchin' over my little friend, Shay, and somehow, she got away from me. I'm not all that sure what happened, really, but last time I saw her, we was walkin' through the ruins just north of here.

Everythin' was goin' fine, but then I turned around, and... she was gone.

Now I jus can't quite figure out what I should do here. Got any ideas, <name>? I'm awful worried.

Hey, how 'bout you go look fer Shay? Yer legs can travel much faster 'n mine.
