You can only get this quest if you accept Rig Wars from Nogg who stand a little to the left of Sovik (when facing Sovik)

You can't get this quest if you're high level. Don't know the exact level where it becomes unavailable but I would guess it's about 45-50.

I'm a level 70 Blood Elf Mage, and I was able to get both quests too, today. Nothing appears to be bugged from my point of view. :)

According to my latest GM ticket, it is NOT intended to prevent you from getting this quest, but for some reason Blizzard does not see this as a bug or a problem and thus refuses to help you with it.

In other words, you're basicly shafted and the GMs just politely tell you to piss off as it's not something they care about.

To get this quest you have to accept the Rig Wars quest from Nogg first then talk to Sovik to get Chief Engineer Scooty.

I completed Rig Wars, but was summoned to the instance so I never did this quest. Now that I have completed Rig Wars, neither Sovik nor Scooty will talk to me about this quest. So basically, I have no way of getting to gnomer other than I suppose to fly to arathi, and walk all the way past Iron Forge. I petitioned a GM, and his response was:
"reload your UI."
Not really anything I can say other than make sure you pick this up at the same time you do rig wars.

Confirming a bug with this quest, accepted Rig Wars, got the whisper, but no quest offered from Sovik, lvl70 Mage here. It did however work fine for my alt, lvl27.

Can anyone who is sure they've never completed the quest chain and is lvl70 talk to this guy pls. Pretty sure I have not completed this chain but yet was able to get a replacement transponder from him. Talking to him brought up the typical option 'I have lost my such and such, could I have a replacement' and he gave the Goblin Transponder to me.
Unless I have a REALLY bad memory pretty sure never received one of those before.

This is ancient history, but for the first several patches of the game, the goblins who gave this quest and Rig Wars were Steamwheedle factioned. If you were Alliance, and could sneak or fight your way to the Valley of Honor, you could get their quests. I never bothered to complete Rig Wars, but this one I did so I could move on to Gnomer-gooooone! and pick up the Transponder Goblínico. My long-retired rogue, whom I now use mainly for herb storage and taking screenshots of projectile weapons, still has it.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

I attempted to do this at level 48 with my undead rogue, didn't work. I got the quest "Rig Wars" then Sovik sais to me to go to him if I was to go to Gnomeregan, but he has no quest when I try to talk to him.

Confirmed above post. If you are level 70 and already completed "STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout Spyglass," but now want to go back to Gnomeregan AND NEVER COMPLETED RIG WARS, you will be unable to obtain the Chief Engineer Scooty quest.

Petition a GM for a character issue. They will escalate your ticket to a character specialist, who will fix this issue and give you the Gnomeregan transporter item. From petition to resolution took me about 20 minutes.

My rogue is only 37 and is not able to accept this quest. It's probably a bug.

WARNING: I just had a GM confirm that this quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7728 ) is the one that BUGS the Gnomeregan teleporter quest line!!!!

If you complete STOLEN: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout's Spyglass before you complete Chief Engineer Scooty (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=2842 ), you can NOT pick up that quest anymore, and you will NOT be able to get your Goblin Transponder (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9173 ) to teleport to Gnomeregan.

Reminder: Chief Engineer Scooty is obtainable after you talk to Nogg next to Sovik and accept Rig Wars (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=2841 ).

The GM escalated my ticket to a Character Specialist, said it will take 3-5 days for him to respond. Currently waiting for the response.

I'm currently trying to get "Chief Engineer Scooty" quest from Sovik in Orgrimmar, however after some research online, it seems this quest becomes unavailable due to some bug (after completing some higher level quests).

I'm sure I didn't complete this quest and I tried disbanding and accepting "Rig Wars" quest again (which is a quest I need to pick up to get "Chief Engineer Scooty".

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Answer: I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I've resolved the issue and left you in front of Sovik so you can accept the quest when you log back in ^_^

I logged to the game, found my warrior next to Sovik ready to accept to the quest. Man, I had so much issues with GMs on EU servers and so far on US they have been much more helpful. :)

So if someone gets into similar trouble, try that.

You can pick up this quest without Rig Wars. That's what I did.

Thanks! I have the same issue of not being able to get this quest and thus not being able to teleport. However, I tried the above, and the GM told me this will no longer work. I specifically enquired about the ''character specialist'', and here's what he said:

Unfortunately, that was a temporary solution in the past, however at this time that feature is not available with the upcoming busy period we're going through.

In short, this means you'll have to wait for a patch to fix the problem (if they ever will, since this is fairly low-priority with Wrath being so close to release)

Yea this will probably get downrated but come on.. you have SM, RFK, RFC, WC, SFK, RFD, etc.. yet for one of the very few alliance zone instances you horde get a teleport there..

I have had contact with a Gm regarding this issue. I can´t get the quest from Sovik and i can´t get a new one from Scooty. Answer i got was that I hadn´t done the quest at all and therefor they couldn´t get me a new one. I asked why i can´t get the quest then since i hadn´t done it. Answer to that was that i hadn´t done the prequest for it. Question now is: What is the prequest for this quest?

Apparently if you completed the quest Stolen: Smithing Tuyere and Lookout Spyglass you will be unable to to get the quest from Scovin or Scooty. I confirmed this with a GM last night after completing several chains attempting to unlock the quest on my level 80 hunter.

No real purpose except to get to Gnomeregan and Dun Morogh (for city raids/exploration). Gnomeregan is not close enough to a Horde flight point for the teleport to be considered a quick way to northern Eastern Kingdoms.

But it's still handy. I didn't know about this quest and found myself travelling from Kargath all the way to Gnomeregan on a mount as an 80 trying to get the achievement.

dont even bother with the quest if you're hated with Steamwheedle Cartel (aka Booty Bay, Everlook, Gadgetzan & Ratchet). Scooty will be hostile. -_-

I sent in a ticket about this issue and they sent me the Goblin Transponder, circumventing the need for this quest line. While it was a solution to the issue I wish they'd just go ahead and fix this. Oh well, at least I can say that they helped me out.

Just putting it out there, but as of 3rd of August, 2010, they haven't fixed the quest bug.

I was atttempting to get the Gnomer achievement at 80, so I went to try to get the Transporter quest. I got rig Wars and got the whisper from Sivok but no quest. I had not done http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7728, I flew out and personally checked and that quest was still available. So there must be other bugs or other quests that cause a conflict.

HORDE: The Transponder is no longer available. NOW, in order to get to Gnomeregan as a Horde player, Chief Engineer Scooty is located in Grom'gol (not Booty Bay). The teleporter is there now and available to jump right in.

As soon as we got word from Kernobee about the new gnomish rig, Scooty and I began work on the Transpolyporter 6000: The fastest and most reliable way to Gnomeregan.

It's finally ready for passengers to board, <name>. If you want to give it a try, go to Booty Bay and talk with Scooty at the wind rider roost. To get to Booty Bay, take the boat from Ratchet.

Of course, you could always try and make the run to Gnomeregan through the dwarf infested mountains of Dun Morogh!
