This is one of the coolest quests i have ever done, soloed it a lvl 20, not too much of a problem for a rogue, if you remember to use your special ability's. I was alchemy herbalist atm and had a high first aid skill. So if you don't have any pots or bandages, this might be harder.

Here is a list of things not to forget:
Have a high lock picking skill for this quest, think the lock box at the end requires 75 skill. You can train your lock picking skill in an earlier rogue quest.
Remember sap, and gouge. Gouge + bandage is very usefull if you have improved sap
Gallywix is weak to ambush, so start off with an ambush, even if you miss he will start the fight at 50 % HP.. Very important.
All the mobs has weeknes to one of your attacks, i cannot remember whom at the moment, but i do remember that i found out a few of them after i did the quest. So possible to do it without.
Also at the first mobs in the bottom of the tower, sapping one, nuking the other when he dies (the other one is probably long out of his sap now) vanish, eat up and take the other one. They are not a "linked respawn" if i can call it that. Leaving one of them alive dosen't mean the other one will respawn instantly.

After you are done, you will get a 7d duration poison, get a druid or a shaman to remove this, but you should still complete the quest to remove it, as it will teach you how to create and use poisons on your weapons, witch is very useful,

That was all i can remember for now, long time since i did this quest :)

i don't see how you can solo this at lvl 20.
the mobs you need to kill are lvl 24, 25 and have HIGH detection of stealth.
you cannot even go near to sap these mobs.

i grouped with a lvl 24 twink rogue to do this, because i saw his corpse front of Gallywix's body, which i assumed he couldn't soloed it. (btw, only one person loot his head so, if your grouped, you better kill him twice)

anyways, the above poster forgot one more thing.
to get the Silixz's key, all you have to do is pick pocket him.
this guy does not have much stealth detection as the mobs inside of the tower.

Finished this 15minutes ago with my non twinked lvl21 rogue. I had trouble killing 2 Mutated Venture Co. Drone on the ground floor so I stealthed up leaving them for the end (what a mistake).
Killed Lookouts, Patrolers and Gallywix with no problem with health recharge brakes. And then got poisoned.
Damn! The bloody thing not only lowers your agility by 15 but it stripps your stealth ability so you get detected easily. Died 2 times .... then needed 45minutes to find someone to cure me.
Got back and finished what I started.
Doable solo at lvl21 just have faith and use your abilities! Gl.

* To get the key from Silixiz, pickpocket him. If he doesn't have anything to pickpocket, kill him and wait for him to respawn, then do it again.

* First floor: Mutated Drones. Ambush will instakill them. If you're alone, ambush one, run, then come back and ambush the other.

* Second floor: Patrollers. Rupture works very well here and takes off an abnormal amount of life.

* Third floor (outside): Lookouts. Eviscerate (even a one-point eviscerate) will transform them into green slimes that are easier to kill.

* Fourth floor: Gallywix. Ambush him to lower his life to 50%, then the rest of the fight is as you would expect. If you're level 20, bring a friend -- he hits hard. After he's dead, take his head and lockpick the chest (need skill ~85 I think) and you're done.

This is entirely doable solo at 20 if you're mildly twinked and remember to use the weaknesses of each mob. Being 22 would help of course seeing as you have access to skills like distract and vanish.

Some notes of my own to add to the above post:

- Part 1, Pickpocketing
Make sure to approach Silixiz from behind and use pickpocket as far away as possible (5 yd range), otherwise he's sure to detect you. Kill him afterwards, both as a courtesy to the next rogue coming to do the quest and in order to avoid him aggro'ing on you in case you have to run away during the rest of the quest.

- Part 2, Mutated Drones
This seems to be the hardest part. Be very careful and only approach one of them when they turn their backs to you and spam ambush till it connects (their stealth detection is insanely high). Then run till you drop aggro and do the same with the other one.

- Part 3, Patrolers
These mobs are weak to rupture, but they're very easy to kill even without it. Probably the easiest part, just good ol' hack n slash works on these guys.

- Part 4, Lookouts
Nothing else to say about them really... just get that 1 CP as fast as possible and immediately Eviscerate. Very easy to kill that way.

- Part 5, Gallywix
Make sure to have Evasion and healing potions ready and not cooling down before engaging. Open with Ambush to drop him to 50% health, then immediately pop Evasion (he hits very hard, you don't want to waste a moment without it up) and just hack away. Pop a healing potion if necessary. If you're close to dying, make sure he's facing away from the stairway entrance. Didn't try this myself, but supposedly if you die with him facing the stairs, he'll stay in that position when he resets making it nearly impossible to ambush him without being detected.

Another note:
You do ABSOLUTELY want to use Ambush in the parts that recommend it and you need a dagger in your main hand for that. If you've been using two swords up to this point, get a dagger for this quest. Even if it's a level 1 grey one, doesn't matter, you can just switch to your usual weapon right after you Ambush. Also, be sure to get your dagger skill up to a decent level, you don't want your Ambush to miss.

I just attempted this with my 21 Bloodelf, I guess everything was changed in the expansion because Ambush is NOT oneshotting the drones and i have a 13.7 dps blue dagger. The patrollers were lvl 22 and easy, rupture did normal damage, the lookouts were 23, 1 point evis did normal damage but they were easy enough, In the 4 times i fought Gallywix my ambush crit every time but was only for 115+ and it effected him normaly. I ended up having a 30 rogue help me kill him. I used an Anti venom made with FA to get the poison off me.

So from now on get a group it seems

I've just tried it together with an Blood Elf. The weaknesses worked fine for me, but not for my friend. Checked it with other people. Only bloodelves have this problem. If you're a Blood Elf, just try to wait for another race of rogue to show up, just whisper lvl 20/21 rogues if you can. The boss at the top only drops one head at a time, wait for him to respawn and do it again if you have 2 rogues. The chest repops fast enough.

The mutated drones are easy if one rogue steps forward and pulls them, then runs away, and the other rogue ambushes one of them while he passes. One of themm euch damage, and their running range is short enough not to require sprint. Only sprint if the ambush misses. Rinse and repeat.

I just did this quest too on my level 23 Blood Elf, and I had the same problems as the above guys. Ambush did nothing to the mutated drones, rupture did not work on the Patrolers, and Gallywix was normally affected by my Ambush. I died twice before I got a friend to help me through it. He has a 60 UD Rogue as an alt, and he was surprised too since this worked just fine for him when he did it.

I was able to get the key fine, also the guy does still have high stealth detection.

As for after the quest, the poison did no damage to me (friend reported no damage as well), just reduced agility by 15. Everything else seemed fine, just the special attacks didn't work on the enemies as they normally appear to (and that kind of breaks the quest).

Pre-reqs: You'll need a locking picking skill of at least 85 (might as well get 100) in order to complete the next quest, so I would recommend doing the Plundering the Plunderers (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=2381) quest to get your skill up to 100 before completing the next quest. You will also need to complete “Deep Cover” (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=2458) in order to talk w/ the questgiver. Otherwise, he is ?? red and will attack you.

Location: The tower is right next to the quest giver (55,6).

IF YOU ARE A BLOOD ELF: The next quest in the chain is bugged and the weaknesses described above don’t work and it is impossible to solo until about lvl 25. I just completed this by grouping with another non-Blood Elf rogue. I just did a "/who 20-21 rogue" and whispered any non-BE players if they did the poison quest yet. Found an undead rogue who hadn't and invited him to group. Walked him through the steps (as outlined above) and he was able to take them out fine

Instructions above about weaknesses are accurate. I’ll simply summarize quickly.

1- (outside on the left) You need to pickpocket the key from Silixiz. If he doesn't have anything to pickpocket, kill him and wait for him to respawn. He only gives one key per respawn. To be nice to the next guy, I would kill him after you have the key.

2- (First floor): Mutated Drones. Key Ability: Ambush kills them in one shot. You can ambush one, sprint away. Then come back and ambush the other.

3- (Second floor) Patrollers. Key Ability: Rupture takes off extra damage.

4- (Outside - third floor): Lookouts. Key Ability: Eviscerate turns them into weak oozes. A one pointer will transform them into green slimes that are easy to kill.

5- (Top floor) Gallywix. Key Ability: Ambush. It does 50% of his health in damage. Ambush him to lower his life to 50%, then the rest of the fight is as you would expect. You might have to gouge/bandage and pop evasion to finish him, but he is killable at 20. If you wait till 22, you can Ambush then vanish and Ambush again. After he's dead, take his head and lockpick the chest (need skill ~85 I think) and you're done.

IF GROUPED: When you group w/ someone else who has this quest, you have to each pickpocket the key off Silixiz and each loot the dead body of Gallywix for the head. This means that you have to:
a) pickpocket the key
b) kill Silixiz and wait for the respawn
c) pickpocket the key again for the 2nd player (repeat for next guy)
e) after killing Gallywix only have 1 of you loot the body and chest (you'll need to wait for respawn and kill him again and whoever loots will get the poison debuff)

DONT LOOT THE CHEST UNTIL YOU HAVE THE HEAD. You will get a 7 day debuff that lowers agility and makes it easier to detect you in stealth. If you have to come back for Gallywix with the debuff, you are going to get spotted pretty easily when you try to amush.

I soled with 20 Rogue too. I did die a couple times till I got it right. Just follow the above instructions and you too can do it at 20. I am a bit twinked too. Crusader saved my ass against Gallywix.

This quest IS soloable. I soloed it as a level 20 orc rogue.

First I pickpocket the dude outside, after that I went into the tower and pulled one of the level 25 mobs out, and killed them one by one. Riposte was an adventage. Walked up and killed the lookouts and the patrolers pretty easy.

Then I walk up to Gallywix with some really sucky pots on me ;) (Think it was +4str and +50 armor, everything helps lol). Then I ambushed the dude and killed him pretty slow with all my cooldowns and gouge as often as I could. Had to pot AND bandage, and I had to try a couple of times. Ended the fight with pretty low health, so I guess I was a little lucky aswell.

BTW, a good thing to do here is after you loot the chest, delete the quest item you looted and the box will respawn.

Keep doing that until your lockpicking is maxed! Great way to level your lockpicking quickly. I went from 90 to 120 in about 3-4 minutes.

Impossible for a non twinked bloodelf rogue on lvl 22. Ambush has no special effect on these mobs, which make the quest difficulty insane.

If you manage (like I did) to find a group, killed all the mobs in the tower, slayed the elite guy only to find out your lockpicking skill is too low... do not worry. Just grind your skill (a pirate ship near Ratchett is a good place), come back, sneak up to Gallywix and... sap him. He is sappable and thank heavens for that. Open the chest, loot the poison and run like you never did before.

I also confirm that vulnerabilities are still not working for Blood Elven rogues.

I got lucky and managed to solo Gallywix as a level 23 BE rogue. I'm not twinked either. It took 3 tries and a healing potion each time. Having Ghostly Strike was a big help. I got the head then discovered that I couldn't open the chest. Now I'm angry. :P So, yeh, make sure your lockpicking is high enough before doing this quest.

If you have the -stealth debuff(Zanzil's Poison), it is impossible to sneak up on the Grand Foreman. However there is a bug that lets you jump up through the floor right next to the foreman. If you have good timing, you can get an ambush off on him. Hope this helped.

Just did this quest without dieing or no help, im a lvl 22 BE rogue subtlety spec. only used one healing potion, my friend had the same problem with the vulnerabilities not working for him but he found another way, he used exposed armor on the first level of the tower, and his dots on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and on the top floor used his slice and dice ability with like one or 2 points, course healing when you need it, buy some time with the gouge ability and use a bandage to heal, and dots help a little too.

Ok, I'm having a major problem with this quest. I have killed everyone in the tower, killed the guy at the top and took his head and even got the chest opened. All I need now is the key from picking his pocket. I've tried 3 times, and every time I go to do it, it tells me he has no pockets to pick. So I killed him again, then waited for him to respawn, then tried it again, and still tells me no pockets to be picked. Any help here would be great.

Pickpocketing Sillixiz may be hard when your level 20 cos he can see you in stealth. Just group with someone else, and have Sillixiz engage him, remain in stealth and pickpocket him :)

That isn't the problem I was having. I'm lvl 23 anyways, but it kept telling me " No Pockets To Pick". So I abandoned the quest, and going to try again like the GM told me to do.

the BE bug seems to be fixed, i ambushed gallywix and his hp went down to 50%. also, the other mobs and their weaknesses worked as expected.

Still buggy as hell, but fixed and totally doable at 20. Hard as hell, but doable.

Walked in, first floor, mobs wouldnt react, ambush missed, and they still ignored me when I decloaked. Restealthed and tried again, the first mob poofed, and my attack never landed. i didnt get credit either. Second one bitchslapped me after I ambushed, but poofed and I got credit.

Second floor, again no reaction, walked up to mob and it said I was too far away to attack. no matter what i did, couldnt touch him. Tried to walk away and up the stairs, and suddenly my autoattack hit something and he turned to beat on me, from across the room. I still couldnt hit him but he was beating me down, and as I ran downstairs to escape the newly respawned mobs downstairs chased me out and killed me.

After this, everything went as normal. A note though, the poison doenst just lower your stealth, it triggers an event that makes the foreman outside attack you automatically within a certain range. Even behind him the event makes him turn around so eh sees you. Make sure yer done with the stealth part of the quest before picking the lock. On the other hand, pallys actually have a use now, just get one to remove the poison.

EDIT: Oh yea, I am a lv 20 BLOOD ELF, and most definitely NOT twinked.

I am really buggin on this one,I cant to fizzle cuz he is elite n the dude does not have a key for me I killed him 5 or more times and nothing,anyone help me plz ? lol thnx in advance

Soloed this quest as a level 20 Troll Rogue.

It was weird though, it bugged for me. I was able to use the vulnerabilities to my advantage without fear of dying. Every mob in the tower would look off in a direction, and when I tried to Ambush the Mutant Drones, it gave me credit, and their bodies didn't fall to the ground like one would after dying. Same thing for the others (Patrollers and Lookouts).

Gallywix was also bugged. I ambushed him and his health never went down, but I continued to hit him while he didn't react. He died though.

Pretty weird quest.

A handy trick on the foreman: Ambush, vanish, ambush again. Instant death.

It's too bad that this quest is given at lvl 20 with the promise of getting poisons,
yet nearly impossible to complete at that same lvl. I read up on the tactics here,
and was disappointed that I did not have Vanish yet. Furthermore,
being hyperactivly going into the combat tree, I had long forfeited any daggers.
Just in case, I did try, got the key of sizlix no problem.
Went into the tower, and got detected instantaneousl : (

So I lvl 2 more lvls, got vanish, bought a poniard (a few silver lvl 5 dagger), got a few anti-dotes from FA
and set out again. Because my dagger skill was at 55/110, I took just the dagger in my main
and none in my off-hand and killed a few beasties using only auto attack. Got my skill upto 100 pretty easily and fast.

At the tower the first mob still detected me from far away. Luckily at lvl 22 you also get distract.
Used that to turn them, ambushed one, and finished the other one with just my dagger .. DOH.
still with gouge and a bandage, it went pretty OK.

2nd groups of mobs indeed die fast from rupture.
A 1CP rupture should suffice I reckon. They'll die within 4 seconds.

3rd groups of mobs indeed die fast from 2 1CP evisc.

Gallywix was slain by ambush -> vanish -> ambush -> evisc.

Consume an anti-dote and even the 7day debuff is gone
before you hit the ground from jumping out of the tower.
You'll only loose about 60% HP Happy Huntin'

Soloed it at lvl 21 the trick to getting the 25 undead guards are try to by pass em and get on the stairs then jump off and ambush :) and everything esle is simple

Solo'd with 21 UD rogue, wearing mainly quest rewards from Ghostlands, only blues were the Dawnblade and Tranquillien Champion's Cloak, rest were Ghostlands greens and crafted Dark Leather Belt and Dark Leather Pants. Buffed with Scroll of Prot, Stam, and Agility, (from Tomber in Tranquillien) and Goldenmist Special Brew (+70 hp for 1hr). 75 Stam/866 hp/586 Armor/82 Agi.

The only hard part was the two guys Drones on the ground floor, since at lvl 21 can't get close enough to Sap or Ambush, they detect every time. Had to carefully pull each separately. Stealth into the doorway, wait for them to pat as far apart as possible then unstealth and run back outside, hopefully only pulling the one nearest the door. If both aggro, keep running, try again. If you can get past these two guys, the rest is easy. Make sure not to run near Fizzule, b/c he changes back to unfriendly after a few minutes and will kill you quick.

Was able to Ambush the elite boss at the top, took 1/2 his health, easy battle from there.

The poison cast on you at the end of the quest can be easily removed.
Once you hand in the quest at Shenthul in Orgrimmar, he will give you another quest, which ultimately leads you to Tarren Mill where you learn both poisons (1) and get your cure =)

Just a tip - don't be an idiot like some of us >.> and forget that the Tower Key winds up on your keyring, not in your inventory - I thought the quest was bugged and abandoned it, so I had to do it all again with the debuff on me!

I have a hard time believing anyone can do this at 20. I can't even get in the door of the tower without getting detected, and no matter which side of the hallway I choose to run out of - there are the other two drones waiting for me in addition to the two 25s bringing up the rear. Pretty much insta-death. I remember having to do the alliance poison quest a few times to get it right, but it was nowhere near this level of difficulty.

As of 7 October 07, Zanzil's Poison appears to have been buffed. It forbids any and all stealth. All my stealth abilities (including vanish... I waited until lvl 22 to do this quest because I wanted to use distract) were greyed out, and the tooltip also indicated that I was unable to stealth. So, if you're doing this quest, you had best make sure you do the chest bit last, or else you're kinda screwed. I didn't have an antivenom on me, so I'm not sure whether it was still removable or not.

Also, confirming that the weakness abilities work just fine for blood elves.

Just a note to any rogue that gets poisoned before they get the key like I did, the towner was open so I just went in and got the poison but it meant I couldnt finish the quest by getting the key, this problem was solved since druids can cure you.

As a 22 sword orc rogue i was able to solo Gallywix without using pots or bandages. I opened with garrote used my blood fury and evasion and just hacked him i ended up on 200 health fairly easy.

The only part I had issues with was Gallywix at 20, and that's because evasion was on cooldown.

For the Mutated Drones, I ambushed one, sprinted away then came back to ambush the others.

For the Patrollers, sap one use rupture on the other. Even with 1 combo point it does an insanly abnormal damage. The first one should be dead long before sap is up

For the Lookouts, you should be able to take them 1 at a time, if not turn them all into slimes with eviscerate as fast as possible. After they are slimes they don't do much damage and die easily.

For Gallywix, he's soloable, but you may need evasion and a pot just in case. With 2 rogues he becomes cake. 2 ambushes for 50% hp = dead fast.

I normally don't use daggers but I put my sword on my hot bar and clicked it after ambush. Only your main hand has to be a dagger. I'm sure the macros work great too, but I'm lazy.

I just went back to the tower at level 32 and repeatedly picked the chest and got lockpicking to 160. Last 2 or 3 levels required several pick attempts but it does get you to 160.

this q has a bug,if u kill the Drone mobs that patrol the tower outside u won't get the q completed,u need to kill the 2 25lvl drones inside the tower:(

As someone who's done the equivalent quest on the Alliance side, there is a clear discrepancy in order to get the same reward.

I did this at 20 on my Alliance rogue with no issues.

Pickpocket the guy outside for the key, check.

Stealth to the top of the tower, sap the guy there and take the item in the chest, check.

Done.

As a 20 BE rogue, the story is a little different.

First of all, the level 22 guys outside the tower (2 of them) can't be sapped. You can avoid them, but pickpocketing the guy and sneaking in almost require that you kill them because of their stealth detection range. There are 2 pats outside the Alliance tower as well, but they can be avoided entirely.

Anyway...

Take 1: Kill 1 guy, pop a potion... realize I'm going to die... run, get dazed and die.

Take 2: Kill 1 guy, popping Evasion halfway through... pop a potion, kill the second guy. These guys don't have the same weaknesses as the drones inside. All abilities seem to function normally on them.

Moving on, I pickpocket the goblin, no problem. This step is redundant, as you already have to pickpocket something for the Level 10 rogue quest, and you don't need the key as far as I could tell, so... whatever.

Stealth into the tower, and one of the 2 level 25 drones there stops his patrol immediately... again, stealth range. Try to position myself for an Ambush... die horribly.

Take 3: After another ridiculously long run back from Crossroads, stealth into the tower. Wait... pull 1 guy outside. Without Ambushing him, he beats me to a pulp.

Take 4: With the help of a level 52 warlock, I complete the quest.

I'm not saying it's not possible, but the quest name has never been more true. Doing this quest at 20 requires more patience than I had. You would have to wait for one drone to continue patroling inside, turn his back, AND make sure the other drone is far in the back and facing away from you so you can ambush one, run, and repeat.

A level 22 rogue that was there didn't seem to have an issue... why? Distract. This skill is almost a necessity, unless you have the patience of Mother Theresa.

If I were desiging this quest, I would either tag it as level 22, or ensure rogues have Distract (and possibly Vanish) at 20. The guy at the top can be killed with Evasion, although I'm curious to try the Ambush>Vanish>Ambush strategy.

AND... make the Alliance quest the same. I don't understand why the Alliance one should be that much easier.

P.S. As an Alliance rogue, the quest to remove the poison is all inside Stormwind. As a BE rogue, I had to fly back to Orgrimmar, take the zeppelin to Undercity, and run all the way to Tarren Mill (in contested territory on a PvP server). I'm not trying to QQ here... just pointing out the differences. Make the Horde quests easier OR make the Alliance quests the same. Either way.

I can't loot the corpses for this quest. I can loot everywhere else. I'm an undead rogue, and the only mod I have installed is recount damage meter. Any help?

Horde - Blood Elf - 21

Okay, can someone help me really fast. I seem to be having some issues with this. I read the notes before this and have tried a LOT of them if not all. Anyways, here it goes.

So as normal, I pick pocket the Goblin, and then kill him. No problem there.

Then I roll over stealthed to the mutated drones. I get the ambush off....and nothing. It did normal ambush damage and that was it. I ended up killing one of them and then dying as I tried to run away.

So I decided to skip them just to check out the ones inside. I rupture them, and nothing. Regular rupture damage.

I have not done the rest as I need these dead to proceed. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

Soloed (with some problems but made it) as 20 NON- twink rogue,
used the sand from one of noob quests to put last mob in sleep in hard moment. Rest was piece of cake

I've done this quest twice. The first time I had to get help from a guilded rogue but that's because I wasn't aware of the tactics behind it. On my second rogue I followed the instructions posted above by Uraii, Rotwing, ooglakhan and others. Thanks to that it was then easy to complete as a level 20 Blood Elf. I used some stamina food, a scroll of agility, one health potion and first aid (after a Gouge) and had about 20% health left when Gallywix dropped.

No longer can we rogues claim it is impossible to solo this quest at level 20. A big thanks to all helpful post!

I don't know what's wrong with my char, but I can't stealth into the room at first floor without the two drones there seeing me and attcking me ... both of them.
And once they attack, the two fro outside comes running in to help them kill me.

It's happened three times, and every time I've escaped by using vanish or sprint (yes, I'm lvl 22. - Itried to do the quest at lvl 20 and lvl 21, but it ws obvious I had no chance at the time).

These mobs are brown to me, which means I would normally easily could kill at least one of them without having stealthed and used ambush or garrote.
But these just seem different. They look through my stealth a lot easier than I have experienced with other mobs.

I rolled a rogue a year back at a different server, and I remember having problems back then too.

I am aware that my gear isn't the best. All greens, and some of it is lvl 19. Still he's generally better equipped than I usually have my chars at this lvl.

I'm unguilded with this char atm, and the /who function has given very limited results ... most people on my server have back-up from guildies, and those who don't tend to be less than helpful in a group situation. Anyway, I haven't found anyone yet who wanted to team up for the quest.

It's somewhat annoying as it means I'll probably have to go until lvl 25 before I can get my poison ability.

I was lucky ... finally. Another rogue came by the quest location. We grouped and had no trouble.

On a side note: I have found that most rogues try to complete at 20, but eventually turn 22 before making it ... usually grouped with another rogue. So it seems I did the common thing here, lol.

Bah. Thanks to Blizzard's awesome changes in the lockpicking quests (namely making the chest that has your quest item sparkle), I spent very little time levelling up my lockpicking skill. So there I was, bandaged, battered and potioned up at the top of that bloody tower, to find that my skill wasn't freaking high enough.

To all you naysayers, this quest is completely possible as a level 20 rogue. After eliminating the guards on the outside, stealth, go into your spellbook and add the shoot button to your stealth bar, creep ever so slightly to the edge of the door from the RIGHT side. When the guard furthest back is behind the staircase, fire an arrow or thrown weapon at the guard in the front and run out of the building. The guard will single pull and follow you, I won't lie, this will be an extremely tough fight. After he is dead you can sneak right by the second guard. Kill the two lvl 22's at the top of the first set of stairs. Creep up and try to single pull lookouts into the second level stair well and take them out one by one. Once that is done, creep up, the elite will be at the top of the tower. He is a cake walk, sneak up and ambush him and he'll be nearly at half life. A tip you should know is to have your lock picking leveled up. I went up there and did all the hard stuff and then couldn't pick his lock box on the first attempt lol. Good luck!

Soloed as a level 20 BE rogue on 03/23/08. Wasn't very hard, but the worst part was the mutated drones because of their agro radius. All of the weaknesses worked perfectly. Gallywix was a pushover; killed him without pots/consumables/bandages and ended the fight with around 70% health.

A quick run down about this quest... About the 25 Mutated Venture Co. Drones. They are indeed level 25, and thier stealth detection is as previously mentioned insanely high. I solo'd this quest at 20 with ease. Getting in the tower though required some patience. but if you can make it to the spiral stairs when both of the drones are looking the other way it's easy street. I just walked up waited for them to turn and look towards the stairs, dropped down ambushed one and sprinted out the door, then snuck back in and did another drop ambush to the other drone.

With the Venture Co. Patrollers. Just sap one and wait till the other is on the other side of the stairs then Garrote and Rupture as quick as you can, just to beat em down some more. They drop quick. then sap, Garrote, Rupture the other Patroller. Stealth up to the next floor.

This floor has 3 Lookouts wandering around on the outside platform. I have the Dirty Tricks talent at max so this was easy to do. Sit on the upper part of the stairway and wait for the Lookout to come into view. Sap him and wait for the other to sneak into your vision just to have him turn around and leave. thats your cue you Garrot and Eviscerate. then pull the Ooze he turned into up the stairs a little ways out of view of the other goblin. Once dispatched, stealth and sneak out onto the platform and wait for the previous Lookout to return sap Garrot and emediately Eviscerate. Tank and spank the lookout and objective complete. Stealth and up to the Foreman you go.

This battle hurt. My strategy was to Ambush and Ghostly Strike. to gain combo points. Wait for full energy then gouge. and backstab. I got lucky and my gouge worked. with 4 combo points added up i ruptured. and used ghostly strike again to make sure he couldn't hit me, and just made sure that I had more life than he did and he went down with ease. Potions and Gouge + Bandages really help on this guy. even if you only get a few points from the bandages it will save you.

Hope this helps. Quest was a lot of fun. =D

Oh btw. 20 Troll, Sublety talents. 5/5 Opportunity, 2/2 Dirty Tricks 3/5 Camouflage, 1/1 Ghostly Strike. My weapons of choice were Blade of Cunning, Dagger (Main Hand) 9-18dmg 6.8 DPS. Ceremonial Knife, Dagger (Off Hand) 5-10dmg 5.4 DPS.

Done it as 20 BElf rogue and 21 Undead rogue.

Just killed elite, when i was low on health just Gouged him, first aid, and killed him.
Just don't make same mistake as I, get 80 skill of pickpocket before going there, so i need to come there again.

With regards to the Mutated Drones on the bottom level, I found that if you can get a Garrote off on one of them, it is a one-shot kill!

Also, with the elite at the end, an Ambush will give him an attack debuff and 50% hp!

Soloed as a 20 orc rogue with 11 in assassination (so no MoD). Not at all twinked, had 2 big bronze knives and random level 10-15 greens and quest rewards. For the mutated drones on the first floor, I just waited until they both turned away, then sprinted in and ambushed one before I could get kicked out of stealth. Then I evaded the other one, and came back and killed him.

The rest of it was pretty easy, though I almost died on Gallywix due to him being a +3 elite and parrying me a lot.

Garrote also will one shot the Mutated Drones, but you don't get credit for the kill so I'd recommend not using this skill.

Just completed this on my lvl 22 UD rogue, without any problems. I really hadnt read the quest, so didnt know anything about weaknesses, or anything. I soloed Gallavix without using ambush, just using sinister strike (using sword in main hand), not even a health potion was needed, seemed pretty easy, just popped evasion.

When reading through this, I saw way too many people complaining that they could not complete the quest because the enemies could see through stealth. I must admit, I did the quest backwards, and was unable to kill the Venture Co Drones without stealth (They were already killed by another player when I got to the tower, climed up and killed mobs along the way anyways)... Didn't know the Posion was going to steal my stealth, although a friend from my Main's guild was nearby and was ready to quickly help me out with the Mutated Drones.

All the enemies were easy to sneak by, even at level 20 with an Assassination build. Simply snuck around behind, made sure that I backed up each time something turned towards me, and Ambushed/Gouged/Backstabbed as necessary.

Once I had done the tower (Boss at the end was fairly difficult, I must admit... But even though he was an Elite, all I needed was a single Minor Healing Potion and a Thistle Tea to beat him.), I killed the drones, handed in, and was done.

As for the Pickpocketing part, it's VERY easy to do so long as you know how to stealth. Sneak up on the foes, making sure that you don't move forwards at all once they turn towards you, and you'll do fine. I actually had to run out with Sprint at one point, since Silixiz saw me. Once I was able to get in Sap Range, though (5 yds, since I'm not Sub), it was an easy pickpocket. Just have to make sure that you still watch for the other Drones that patrol the area.

Overall, a VERY fun quest, so long as nothing goes wrong, and you take the proper order to things, or, if you don't, you have someone to remove Poision and/or someone to kill the enemies you can't kill. (Then again, for the pickpocketing part, you're kind of out of luck for the Killing part.)

Confirming this is doable at 20.

The Key - You can obtain this by killing him, it's how I got it.

The mutants - Timing is the key. Their stealth detection is rediculous, but if you time it just right when they're turned, hit them with ambush and they die instantly.

The pats - Hit them with rupture. They die with just 2 hits even with 1 CP rupture.

The lookouts - Wait til one is within aggro range, then pull him into the tower and down the stairs enough that you won't aggro others. Hit him with 1 eviscerate, and you can solo them easily. They die really quick with eviscerate, so use it a lot. They are orange to level 20s, but it doesn't make a difference. Just use 1 CB evis and you'll be fine.

Gallywix - He's hard. Like really hard. He has a lot of health and does close to 100 dmg, sometimes more, with every hit. Make sure you have some healing potions. Also, ambush him. It takes him down to 50% health. If you can, use gouge and get behind him to use backstab. Gouge might miss.. alot. But you ABSOLUTELY NEED HEALTH POTIONS AT 20! I have 663 health, and he kills me every time. If you need to go buy health pots (like I did), just intentionally kill yourself at the bottom floor and then respawn up top. Then, fight til you kill him.

The chest - Make sure you have Gallywix' head first, or you'll get this nasty poison, and we don't want that.

Then, go finish the quest...

Whatever you do... DON'T DIE! You have to run all the way back from Crossroads. Also, people say you need at least 80, I had 79 lp and it worked. So... I don't know what the lowest is.

Probably should have read all this before attempting the quest, as I dont generally carry a dagger and therefore cant use ambush :P and the really annoying part is that the nearest graveyard is a ten minute run away, lol. Thanks for all the tips : )

I just attempted this quest as a level 22 BElf rogue. All the weaknesses do work (rupture does double damage, Ambush kills in one hit, etc.) One strategy that is very useful, if you are level 22, is to ambush the elite at the top, then use vanish and ambush him again. He dies in two hits. However, this is not useful at all for rogues under level 22 and most rogues are 20 or 21 when they run this quest. By the way, I will have to do this quest over because my lockpicking skill was not up to date. Make SURE you have adequate lockpicking skill (I believe its somewhere around 85-90) before attempting this quest.

I noticed at lvl 20 i got more XP from killing a mob the traditional way than I got for utilizing the weaknesses.

i.e. 345 for Mutated Drones, but only 45 for Ambushing them

BE btw, all weaknesses worked. I only had to deal with stealth detection and misses.

I just finished this quest and the only hard part is the mutated drones inside the tower on the first floor their stealth detection is VERY High. The saw me when I was looking in the room then when I stepped forward I aggroed them so i suggest going sub for this quest if possible.

At the Merchant Coast (64,45) is a treasure chest for the Jewel of the South Sea quest. You can lockpick it from LP30 on, it should get you high enough

Duoing this quest with another Rogue makes it a lot easier. On the Drones you can just walk right in with one of the Rogues being in stealth. Have the unstealthed Rogue aggro the Drones and the stealthed one Ambush one of them. The other Drone shouldn't be a problem for you to handle.

It's also very easy to take down Gallywix with dual Ambush since it takes 50% of his maximum health. Two Ambushes will outright kill him.

Did this quest today I got a weird glitch. I completed it, and then afk'd near the Warsong Gulch entrance to do something. I got logged off, logging back on for some reason it said I'd only killed one Drone and one Lookout, when I know I'd killed at least three of each, and I checked periodically to make sure it was done before running off to AFK. In fact, there was a (complete) next to the quest in my log. Really weird, and inconvenient. I hearthed after coming back, went to complete it in Orgrimmar and I couldn't. Now I have to run back and kill them ... again. Thank whatever for Anti-Poison.

To the person on the front page who tipped on the Ambush, very awesome thing to listen to.

No idea if anyone else has gotten this glitch, bug, or whatever weird thing it is.

BIZU: para pegar a chava do mob que está do lado de fora basta você ficar no modo invisivel tomar cuidado com os mobs que rodão a torre e usar uma pericia chamada pick pocket e pronto não precisa bater só pegar a chave e o que lhe intereçar e depois entregue a quest completada em orgrimmar.

Four things...
1st.) the respawn on Grand Foreman Puzik Gallywiz (have to kill for the quest) is 7-8 minutes and Foreman Siliwix (you don't want to kill him you just want to pick pocket him for the key but sometimes hes dead when you get there) is 10-11 mins.

2nd.) If you for some reason are a higher level when you do this quest and want to work on your lock picking... you can work on it on the chest on the top floor... Just destroy your "Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture" after looting it from the chest. The chest respawns in about 7 seconds and the chest will take you yellow to 120 and then green up till 160 (fairly fast skill ups)--- it actually greys out at 170 but skill ups are VERY slow from 160-170, I was averaging 8 to 23 chests per skill up.

3rd.) If you are too low a level in lockpicking and brought some backup in the form of another high level rogue he can pick the chest for you and not loot the cache... then let you open the chest and loot it.

4th.) The chest is not flagged as a trap, detect traps finds nothing and there is no way to disarm it. Regardless of the level you do this quest at you WILL get the Touch of Zanzil debuff. Though any form of cure poison removes it easily.. including the anti venom from first aid. Note: The debuff is on the lock pick for the chest NOT the opening of it after, if someone else picks the lock so you can loot, they will get the debuff.

easy Quest to soloable as lvl 20 just need to know your class abilites very well ^^
you can kill Gallywix withouth friends , buffs, pots etc. Ambush him
for made low hp on him then start fight. keep evasion till you have 50% hp and use rupture on him thne kite around he will die easy^^

something i havent seen posted yet : to everyone complaining about the mutated drones seeing past your stealth and how hard it is to ambush them, my advice is to wait until level 22, when you learn distract. distract will freeze the enemy and with some practice/luck it will freeze the enemy with their back to you. so distract one mob, ambush it, run away and do the same to the other one. also learned at level 22 is vanish, which gelps in killing gallywix immensly. ambush him, bringing him down to 50% health, vanish, and quickly ambush him again, killing him. he didnt touch me once. one thing to be wary of is getting that second ambush off quickly. if you dwadle, he will quickly regenerate, making the fight harder.

Hey if you need your lockpicking skill up for getting into Gallywix's chest, here's a tip:
1. Go to Ratchet.
2. Remember when you killed all those Southsea Brigands and Cannoneers? Go over towards that area; there is a ship. Seemingly no purpose for this ship.
3.Board the ship from the front. Its spear-like bow extends to the shore. Go down a flight of stairs. Look around a bit and you'll find some chests you can lock pick.
4. Lock pick until level 85.

Note: Believe it or not, there are people who will go to do this and forget to get lockpicking skill. Don't forget. At around level 75, you'll start to slow down with leveling the skill. Just keep going :D .

The fact that you need a specific weapon type to complete this quest at lvl 20 is just silly. It's not like a Hunter needing to use a gun over a bow or crossbow to complete a quest. Rogues use Swords and Maces in addition to Daggers, heck Combat swords is our top dps spec. Not to mention the Barrens is the wrong place to be needing to play go-fer.

I have to say this quest is really aggravating since in no other situation you've actually needed a Dagger. Tacked on an extra 30 min to complete this quest cause of that.

I tried completing this as a 23lvl rogue and there seems to be some bugs in the system with the new patch. I couldnt kill the bottom 2 mutants and the 2 patrollers. When i got to the top the elite wouldnt move just swung at me and as i attempted to hit him his health would not go down and then it said he was dead but i couldnt loot his head. So...might want to wait a few days or so for the bugs to be fixed.

As of 10/20, the quest is no longer buggy. It does not lead to the poison skill anymore, however. Poisons are purchasable through poison vendors and no longer require skill.

Level your First Aid before you go, get anti-venom (rank 80). That way you can kill Gallywix, continually pick the chest lock to level your lockpicking -- as a previous poster noted, you can click your lockpicking icon and pick the chest repeatedly -- then after about 30 sec or so, apply anti-venom, restealth, kill Gallywix again, and continue leveling your skill. Repeat if needed.

Soloed at 21 with an undead. Not too easy, but no impossible. Be sure to wipe the patrolling mobs near the tower. They are somewhat 22-ish.
The Mutated Drones are a challenge, but you can pull them, if you are ok with your hands:)
Pull, kill, cannibalize... Best tactics.
The lookouts are better sapped
The patrollers are beter eviscerated.
No big deal in Elite mob killing. Sap, Ambush, gauge, backstab, eviscerate... PROFIT!
It's cool to have a disease curing shammy or priest nearby, still the ending of the quest deals with curing the disease directly.

I did something silly, I got everything but the key, but i had gotten the poison thing before cuz when i got there he was already dead so i opened the chest first. Then I cancelled the quest hoping it would remove the poison... it did not. Now I went back to the original quest giver, made him friendly, but now i cant get that quest back! HELP ME :(

I just soloed this at 20...was very hard, I must admit I died a couple times b4 I got it rite.

Here is how u can do this:

1: Picpocket Silixiz for the key,

2: Kill the 2 lvl 22 Drones that pat round the tower.( This is a must as u might agro

them while u pulling 1 of the lvl 25 drones outside the tower),

3: Pull 1 of the lvl 25 drone outside the tower with ur thrown wep (opposite side to

where u pickpocket Silixiz. if u have killed Silixiz, u can pull to either side) which can

be solo pulled...make sure u pull the closest to u when the furthest 1 walks behind

the staircase. If both come ur toast

with marmite on it :P

4: Then walk back into tower to kill the remaining lvl 25 drone,

5: Go up the stairs in stealth where u will find 2 lvl 22s. 1 pats closkwise, other

anticlokwise. U have to use ur camera well here. Sap 1 and kill the other.

6: On the same lvl of tower u have the outer balcony ring. 2 lvl 23s await u here. Sap 1

kill other. I suggest u fight near the door. There will be another lvl 23 on this balcony

but u dont need to worry about him as long as u dont get cose to him while killing the

other 2.

7: Back into stealth, proceed to the final and top lvl of the tower where u will find

Gallywix with his back turned to u facing his lockbox. Ambush is a must here,

otherwise u might not survive this fight. considering ur lvl 20 :P

Pick the lockbox and loot the mixture. Happy Ending.

U get a debuff of posion that lasts for 7 days which can be easily cured with antivenom.

I used no potions at all to do this...only a couple of bandages.

ok, the patrols did not count for me, the ones outside by sixzl, i tried rupturing them, and nothing happened. then, when i did kill them, they did not give me credit, the mutated drones have insanely high stealth detection, i was just in the doorway and i was attacked, then i died. i would reccomend waiting til about 23, or bringing a friend, cause this is really is: possible but not probable

As of patch 3.1, tried this on my BE Rogue at 20. I was able to kill the first Mutated 25 mob by pulling it solo, I didn't know about the Ambush trick, but when I Garroted the 2nd mob it instantly died, however I didn't get credit, don't have a dagger on me right now so I don't know if the Ambush will work on the elite.

I just soloed this as a lvl 20.
It's pretty tough, but if you can use all of the right special abilities on the mobs, they go down without too much trouble.
Gallywix is the problem- I ended up applying insta poison to both my daggers, ambush, disarm, gouge, bandage, rupture, and evasion and I still only got away with a sliver of health left.
It is possible, though.

I soloed this with my lvl 20 rogue, I just had problems with the lowest floor because they're undead and lvl 25, but I just pulled one then I killed the other one after. I did the same at the other floors, the elite wasn't hard at all just ambush him then he's like a normal mob. :)

I did the quest with my lvl20 rogue and it was a pain. Those lvl25 mutated drones would see me every time since I didn't have distract. I had to die and resurrect at the stairs and ambush them from there. The rest of the quest was a cake though.

The best part is that after I did the quest I realized that it isn't needed to get poisons anymore... >_<

I soloed this at 20 just for the fun of it. Of course, my gear is above average. I have two heirloom daggers enchanted with +15agi, heirloom shoulders and several other pieces of good gear. My ap is over 220 with almost 20% crit, so I went into it with a slight edge. With that in mind, it was still reasonably challenging.

Pickpocketing the key from Silixiz is easy enough, just approach him from behind. The level 25 mobs on the first floor were more difficult. If you have some stam food like crunchy spider leg surprise, I suggest you use it, Forty or fifty hp can really be a godsend. Don't try to tackle both mobs at once. They're too strong. Get the attention of one of them when the other has his back turned and pull him out the door to kill him. Make liberal use of gouge as any time you're not getting pummeled is good time.

The mobs you need to kill on the upper floors are easy you don't need to worry about doing anything special.

When you make it to Gallywix, make sure you open with an ambush as it will significantly reduce his health. Pop evasion and make sure you have your pots off cooldown. Build a few combo points to get a good slice and dice to increase your speed and then save your combo points for eviscerates. Make sure to gouge and backstab whenever possible. You should be able to take him down this way.

I know that it's not necessary to do this quest anymore, but for purists like me who need to do things the old-fashioned way, this should help a bit.

For those who don't have 75 lockpicking skill: Go to Ratchet and get the quest 'Plundering the plunderes' (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=2381) from Wrenix. You'll be sent to a ship which has a room full of locked chests that keep respawning. You'll get the LP skills from there with ease :)

Solo'd as Blood Elf female level 20 (using 2x Balanced Heartseaker with Fiery Weapon and Shadowcraft Spaulders)

Mutated Drones;

Key is sprinting to the stairs when they have their backs turned. When you're on a higher level they can't see you! From there wait for the right moment and ambush one of them. Kill the other one regularly. I had to use evasion and Lifeblood Herbalism heal)

Lookout & Patroller;

Kill as normal.

23 Elite;

I actually forgot he is weakened by the zanzil poison aswell and used Garrote. Took me 1 death to kill him.
After Garrote I immediatly used evasion. After evasion I waited for my health to drop to 50% and used a Lesser Healing Potion. When my health dropped to 30% I popped Lifeblood healing myself to 90% whilest he was already at 20%.

I opened the chest and got the poison, I forgot I still had to kill 1 drone :( Luckily a druid and a paladin were doing the escort quest and cleansed me. I both gave them 20 Wisdom Elixirs as a thank you (I was happy :P)

I just did on my lvl 20 rogue. You can kill everything you need to but you're gonna want to use ambush a lot. Remember to loot the key because you need it to open the chest. The Mutated Drones are lvl 25 and have a high level of detection of stealth. Gallywix is a lvl 23 elite but if you sap and then ambush him it'll take off about 1k health and you're going to want to use evasion once you're down to 40-50% health. Opening the chest and will give you a 7day debuff that decreases your agility by 15 and doesn't allow you to stealth. If you have already killed everything this wont be much of a problem as long as you hearth or sprint out. There are some quests after this in which you will get a potion that removes it.

Poison:
a druid can remove it with Cure or you can wait and get the potion, ANTI-POISON WILL NOT REMOVE IT!

Some things you might want before doing this:
-if you're a low level you might want health potions, bandages and food (i forgot them, trust me, you don't want to forget them)
-a flight path from undercity to Tarren Mill (don't need for this quest but you do need it for the next two after it)
-lvl 80 lock picking

I did have some poison on my dagger and sword and I had good gear before I tried this.

*Note- If you do this at lvl 20 you WILL die a few times!

As other people have said, I would strongly urge you to wait till 22 and Distract to attempt this quest, it is insanely hard to sneak up on the Mutated drones without it.

The one easily overlooked part of this quest is that the drones Are Not Linked. If your quick, you can body pull the front one out of the tower, at which point all you have to do is manage to kill a red level mob without stealth ;)

Confirmed that the above is all true. I soloed this quest at 21. It took a lot of running out to reset the drones on the first floor because they saw me so easily and kept moving around so much, but once I got them ambushed the rest of it wasn't too hard.

In addition to the above, a couple other pointers that helped me:

Keep in mind that the drones are the exception... everyone else can be sapped. Use this to maintain control by only having to fight one mob at a time.
For the boss at the end (Gallywix), don't be too scared that he is an elite. I did this at 21 without any item enhancements (just regular quest reward gear) and beat him with still 1/4 of my life. I had a health pot ready but didn't need it. You just have to use your abilities. Pop Evasion as soon as the fight starts, use Lifeblood if you have it. Spec might matter too (I'm all Combat).

In hindsight I definitely should have waited until level 22 for the distract if nothing else. I think it would have made the first floor much easier.

Just soloed with my 20 rogue.

Sapped and lockpicked the foreman first, this was cake.

By far the most difficult part is killing the mutated drones. They are 25 with high stealth detection. I basically just got in aggro range to pull one at a time. The first one I burned all my cd's and used thistle tea just to take him down. The second one I had better luck with just using evasion however at the end of the fight I aggroed the drones outside and they finished me off.

The patrollers are level 22, very easy sap/ambush one at a time.

The lookouts are 23, sap/ambush individually they go down quick.

The elite was shockingly easy. He is sappable and when I ambushed him I got him down to 45%. I didn't waste one cooldown on him and he only got me down about half way when I killed him. He is easier than the mutants.

My lockpicking was at 80 and it's enough to open the chest.

I have 3 pvp rares and the rest green gear with a mere 20 hp worth of enchants. I did this with poisoned blades and 703 hp total. Used lifebloom once during the first drone fight. No potions other than thistle tea I used once. Only died once during the second drone fight from outside aggro.

You are able to get this quest again if you abandon it, btw.

I was stupid and didn't bother to complete this quest when I got it and eventually abandoned it (and later found out that I got a Thistle Tea recipe from it...)

So getting my flares again and hauling my butt out to the dwarf, i performed the actions needed to talk to him. Nothing. I had to use about 4-5 flares and salute 3 times before he let me talk to him.
Maybe he was mad that I abandoned his quest?

Anyway, good news is: this is soloable at level 40! ./flex

You can skill lockpicking up on Gallywix's Lockbox while doing this quest. Just destroy Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture from your bags, lockpick box -> repeat -> profit. You need 70 lockpicking skill to open it for the first time, though.

I had no problem solo as a lvl 22 troll. instant poisen on both my weapons started with a garrote, used evasion, did a sinister strike, used my racial and slice and dice, then just sinister striked him down didnt even have to use a potion. Mobs werent that much of a problem either cause i managed to pickpocket all of them before i killed them. yea and the guy didnt drop his head. i wasnt high enough lockpicking to open the chest so i cant say anything on that...

I have tried this quest like 5 times now: i do the pickpocket, make the kills on each floor, but then the top floor..
I ambush him, to cut50% hp, and nuke him down, so far so good.
But then, loot: empty, his locker: empty aswell, but i do get the debuff
Any1 knows what i'm doing wrong or is this seriously bugged?
I made a ticket bout it but blizz says they don't see any trouble with it or a bug on it, so i'm trying if i can't find an awnser over here

a glitch! I killed the boss, there was no head in the loot.... and nothing in the box. I still got cursed for 7 days though.... tried again and still nothing... cant abandon and try again coz I have to be stealthed to get the key... *cries* so a 7 day curse for me I guess... guess I will have to play another avi till then. Oh, I did try continuing on after, but I need the items, or I wont get sent to the guy who can cure me.... and if I go there without getting sent he doesnt offer to cure it lol

patch 3.3, the only use for this quest is the recipe for thistle tea.

However, if you still want to do it,

I was able to make all the kills perfectly capably with my lvl 22 rogue w/ heirloom chest (+100 hp), shoulders, 1Hsword (+15agi) and OH dagger (+15agi). easy stuff...

I did run into a problem and i'm not sure if it had anything to do with the questgiver dwarf dude being killed in the middle of my attempt.

I got to the top of the tower, killed the goblin, and he didn't drop his head. i lock picked the box, and it didn't contain the quest item. I worked my LP skill up to 110, never saw the quest item drop, and killed the goblin 1 more time and still didn't get his head. Not sure if the quest is totally bugged but thankfully it's not required to get poisons anymore.

Then i lockpicked the chest... wich poisoned me like expected but gave me nothing. I have the key and killed everybodyelse but no head and no cache of zanzil. I tried several times: same results. After 3 days of pending my ticket, i recieved feedback from the Gms. Yay!

They told me they didn´t even knew about this bug (what.), and that they are currently working on it.

In normal language, it means you need to wait for a month till they get off ther ass and click the "fix bug" hotkey.

Ok... i've tryed for 3 hours now.. i died 26 times and only got one healing pot left..

and I have killed the Lookouts (2) (it's 3 but only need 2).
well... now when i killed Gallywix, i didn't get any loot.. no head dropped. and when i open the chest, i get nothing there neither.. so wtf is wrong?

OK if u have First Aid the sac thing i know its hard to get go to STM and kill some spiders and u will get the sac some time and then make it and cure it and the quest is still bugged but i hope this helps!

This quest can be solod at level 20. I have really good weapons - MH PVE heriloom sword with crusader and OH PVP heirloom weapon with +15 agility. I also have Deviate Scale Belt and some OK greens (not enchanted). I should mention that I also have herbalism which gives me a HOT.

So here is how I done it.

1. I killed the 2 patrols outside and pickpocketed the guy at the bottom.

2. I went into stealth and stood near the entrance and watched the movement pattern of the 2 lvl 25 at the bottom. If you time it right you can hit sprint and run up the stairs a bit and will only aggro one of the guys at the bottom. I then hit evasion and tanked him, making sure to keep S&D up and using rupture as a finisher. I had to health pot and also use my HOT spell but was not too difficult. Once he was dead I waited for my cooldowns and killed the other guy.

3. I stealthed up the tower and killed the next 2 guys using same tactic.

4. The guy at the top was a bit harder. I opened with garotte and evasion tanked him, making sure to use dismantle on him once evasion ran out. This buys you 25 seconds of not taking too much damage. I still had to health pot and use my HOT and gouge and bandage. This took me a few attempts but if you get lucky and none of your important attacks miss it can be done. Also used Rupture as a finisher on him and made sure S&D was up at all times. I also had to use a green thistle tea.

Good luck though as it is not easy.

I attempted this earlier this week at level 20 (BE) with another level 20 rogue (UD). Neither of us could loot the items needed to finish the quest because of the bug, however, I submitted a ticket and the nice GM mailed the items to me because rogues need poisons to be rogues. :P

Just thought I would put that out there, in case anyone else runs into problems. I'm not sure how many GMs will actually mail the items to you, but there is a chance!

Glad to see im not the only person having a problem, I tried it 3 times on my 23 Undead alt rogue (never had a problem on my main rogue but that was before patch 3.0) hes easy to kill at that level but never drops his head and the box is empty. Make sure to make and carry some Anti-Venom with you to get rid of that 7 day poison. This quest isnt really that important, you do not need to do this (or any) quest to use poions, just go buy some at level 20; you do learn the recipie for Thistle Tea which can come in handy sometimes but isnt necessary

I would like to confirm that this quest is most definetely bugged. The problem is that the kill on the guy at the top of the tower does not register and you do not get the quest item when you loot the chest.

If this happens to you I would suggest sending a ticket to a GM and include the name of the quest and the time and date you tried it. The GM should complete the quest for you. However, you may get an unhelpful GM, if so you should go to the customer support forum at wow-europe.com and post there, as the GM who do that are usually of a high standard. Hope this helps.

i don't see how you can solo this at lvl 20.
the mobs you need to kill are lvl 24, 25 and have HIGH detection of stealth.
you cannot even go near to sap these mobs.

I soloed this quest at level 20

1. i started by Pickpocketing the little goblin at the entrance and killed him and the patrol around him
2. then after i had gain hp and energy i stealthed to the door of the tower i removed stealth and ran out of the tower fast so i wouldnt pull the other guard.
3. Then after i had killed both of the guards i started climbing the staircase to second floor, and took out the goblins by Jumping down from the stairs behind them and ambush them
4. Third floor i waited for the patrol at the door and everytime one of them walked next to the door i kited them inside to the stairs one by one.
5.When the job (Almost) was done i got up to the fourth floor, you should have some instant poisons ready and maybe some healing potions, if you got a dagger (Equipped or in Inventory,)Equip it!, Ambush him: that will cut half of he's life down with some sort of shock effect + he will get a debuff that slows he's attack speed.
6. As soon as you have slaughtered him, Loot he's head and picklock the chest!

This quest is broken. The head wont drop and you'll find nothing in the chest but a 7 day poison counter on ya.

I've tried three times to do the quest in a few possible ways and not one will grant the head to loot or anything in the chest to take.

This is the same for BOTH the Alliance AND Horde Rogue quest. I've tried both multiple times. Don't waste your energy with this quest as it was originally intended to grant Rogues the Poison skill and is no longer needed. Sadly, Blizz has changed the Poison mechanic but left the useless (and unsolvable) quest in the game. -shrug-

A waste of time, hardly.

Just grab an anti-venom or 2, and grind level your lock picking skill on the chest. Not to sure how high you can go, but I'm at level 115 right now and the chest is still yellow for lock picking.

I say bring a couple of anti-venom do to the fact that the elite guarding it will re-spawn while you have the debuff. Also being level 22 and having vanish would make it easier.

Edit: though the chest is still yellow, i have stopped getting a skill up once level 115....waste of time...sigh

At the moment -- January 14, 2010 -- this quest is bugged, and has been for a while. The end boss, Gallywix, doesn't drop his head and the chest is empty. I am told that this is a known problem that has yet to be fixed in a patch. I was hoping for the Thistle Tea recipe, since we don't need the poison training anymore.

I was able to do this at level 20, although I did purchase some greens from the AH. The mobs were tough, but the advice here helped a lot. The elite went better than I thought it might. I had the poison dispelled by a level 80 druid.

This is easily soloable at lvl 20(Bloodelf), did everything(except for lockpicking part as my lvl was too low last time i visited), and i was able to pull the drones at the bottom of the tower one at a time(because one of them noticed me, and ran to kill me), the second floor was the easiest, where i sapped one, killed one, waited for sap to run out, and then the last 2 came for me and i easily killed them. Third floor, i sapped one, then accidentally pulled the other 2, but i managed to kill them all without any serious problems. The elite is laughable, sapped him, waited for my full 110 energy(mutilate), ambushed him, then just used random finishers, and when he died, i was on close to full health.

As of patch 3.3.0 this quest is bugged, Gallywix's Head does not drop and the chest is empty. You will still receive the 7 day poison debuff if you open the lockbox, which as has been stated before, is easy dispelled by any class that is capable of removing poisons or anti-venom from first aid. every time i do this quest i am able to steal the key needed and kill the creatures needed but every time i kill Gallywix's i am unable to get his Head or get the Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture from the locked box, what am i doing wrong

As of current patch, you must loot the item every time before the chest despawns, then respawns. Rather than deleting the item every time, use the macro:
/run for bag = 0,4,1 do for slot = 1, 32, 1 do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag,slot); if name and string.find(name,"Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture") then PickupContainerItem(bag,slot); DeleteCursorItem(); end; end; end
Bind it to '1' or something and hit that every time you loot, it'll delete the item without having to click on the prompt or anything.

Soloed at lv 21 as twink rogue.
Strategy:
First sap Silixiz and pick pocket his key.
Next kill the two pats outside, very easy considering their level is pretty close to 20.
Go in, this is the hard part, try to pull 1 of them outside without the other and kill it. Now go back in and ambush the other. Use evasion or other CDs if this is too hard.
Just go up the tower now, the rest of the mobs can be sapped so it should be easy to take on one then go back for the other.
At the top of the tower is an elite, make sure to keep stealth on when u go up, ambush him, pop evasion and you'll have a few seconds to kill him before he kills you. If you're not a twink you should bring a potion along (lesser healing potion is good enough). After you killed him loot his head and open the chest, i opened it at 90 pickpocketing.

Easy enough, don't see why anyone would wait till 24 or higher to do it.

Patch 3.3 (May 1st, 2010)

Soloed at level 21.

Go to the tower. The mobs you'll find hard, will have certain weaknesses, such as Ambush or Eviscerate.

Find the Drones patrolling the tower, these have no weaknesses (atleast not what i'm aware of), but can easily be killed.

Now you've killed the drones, steal the key from Foreman Silixiz (a goblin standing on the left side of the tower, outside)

Now, stealth inside. There you'll see two level 25's. They're weak to your ability, Ambush, which kills them instantly, tho, they have a very high stealth detection, so be careful if you're around level 20. (Personal advice: Ambush one of them, and use Vanish (learned at level 22) If you haven't learned Vanish, you need to kill one of them yourself. (or you could run and stealth back in.)

Now you killed the drones outside, and the drones inside, and you got the key. Now, you stealth up the tower, when you get to up the stairs, you'll see the patrollers. Kill them aswell, (don't know if they have any weakness, tho, you won't need it.)

Stealth futher up, and you'll see the lookouts. Their weakness is Eviscerate which'll turn them into a green slime, and be easier to kill. (Once again, these are killable without using Eviscerate but, i'd prefer doing that if you're level 20.)

Now, you must stealth up to the top of the tower, where you'll find the foreman. This is maybe a little rough for the average level 20 rogue, but, if you use Ambush which is his weakness, he'll instantly get damaged down to around 50%. (It's killable without potions, bandages, etc, but still, i'd prefer to use things such as Berserking) From 50% to 0%, it's up to you. But, as mentioned above, soloed at level 21. Once you've killed him, you must remember to take his head which is required for the quest.

Last, but not least, you need to open the lockbox. this require atleast 70 skills in lock picking. If you don't have atleast 70 skills, you can either steal junkboxes from the patroller, but personally, i'd say go practice on the Buccaneer's Strongbox
which you can find on a ship south of Ratchet. Once you have 70 skills in lock picking, open the box and remember to loot the poison.

When you opened it, you get a poison which makes you unable to stealth, so DON'T do the same mistake as me by first stealing the poison and then try to steal the key. After the quest, you get a questline how to remove the poison you got, since it's on your toon for 7 days (doesn't wear off by being logged out, as i recall it.) But, you could also just got it cured by a shaman or pally (or some other class.)

Is there any way for me to get this recipe, or do I have to be a rogue? (I'm level 80) Also, will anti venom work on me? Since I'm 80 I'm not sure if the anti venom will work...

As far as Gallywix, Ambush indeed, but then just use Dismantle. Hits like a girl after that.

ATTENTION ROGUE'S TRYING TO LEVEL LOCKPICKING!

Don't turn this quest in until you've reached 170 Lockpicking.
After you kill Gallywix at the top of the tower and loot him.
Loot the chest, then run this macro.
"/run for bag = 0,4,1 do for slot = 1, 32, 1 do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag,slot); if name and string.find(name,"Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture") then PickupContainerItem(bag,slot); DeleteCursorItem(); end; end; end "
That will delete the quest item from your bag, allowing the chest to respawn.
You then pick the lock and get a skillup. Rinse repeat.
Soon enough you will be at 170 Lockpicking and can move on to the next step.

He's no longer pick pocketable it appears. I killed him three times and each time before I killed him I attempted to pick pocket and got nothing. (I'm level 28 on this rogue)

Steal Silixiz's Tower Key from Foreman Silixiz, then kill two Mutated Venture Co. Drones, two Venture Co. Patrollers, and two Venture Co. Lookouts.

Assassinate Grand Foreman Gallywix and take his head, then pick the lock on Gallywix's lockbox and steal the Cache of Zanzil's Altered Mixture. Take the Cache and Gallywix's Head back to Shenthul in Orgrimmar for further instruction.

You will need to steal the tower key from Foreman Silixiz, <name>. Once you've got the key in your possession, hold on to it - I may need it later.

Remember, the poison has weakened everything in this tower. Use your abilities to bring chaos and destruction to its inhabitants. Slay them all -- show no mercy!

Once everything inside lays in a bloodied heap, pick Gallywix's lockbox and steal the cache of Zanzil's mixture held inside. Take both the head of Gallywix and the mixture to Shenthul in Orgrimmar.
