Need Lockpicking of 25 to open the chest. Coordinates at 52,41. Training Chests go yellow at 30 and green at 55.

This location is very easy to find using the coordinates: 52,45.

If you stand at a particular spot. You have the ability to unlock 4 of the five Practice Lockbox's there. (Screenshot Provided).

Just in case. The words "Practice Lockbox" will ALWAYS be yellow. The word "Locked" changes colors the way Ebonstar says.

You should stay there with the practice boxes until you cannot level your picking skill anymore (when the word "Locked" becomes gray).

The boxes respawn very quickly, and sometimes they are booby-trapped. ( I had the Frost Hold Magic trap. )

I was able to gain 101 skill points from this location. I went there with a skill level of 4; and left there with a skill level of 105. Not Bad - Now I go back to the Zoram Strand!

There are numerous creatures outside. But you do not have to worry about them coming in to attack you (at least I did not have to). My stealth was good enough to walk past all creatures - INCLUDING horde. So it is possible to make it there without a fight. In case you are just trying to get your picking skill up.

The max level is now 80 i belive, i theived for another 4mins or so after 80 and nothing happened.

I leveled up from 5 to 100 (my max for my XP level) on these boxes. Once inside the mill, I was never attacked and was able to focus on just lockpicking.

By standing in location on the screenshot, I was able to pick 4 lockboxes without having to move which was nice. This was especially handy around level 65, which is when the lockboxes went green, because from then on it took multiple boxes to level up.

By the end, it took about 20 boxes to get from 99 to 100. The boxes were still green at 100, but I had maxed out my level, so there was no point in continuing.

Y'know that since the guys lockbox that you need to open requires a skill higher than level 1 to open and the others dont, you can build yourself up even more if you use that one when the others go grey. You might even be able to build yourself up faster just repeatedly picking that one when the others go GREEN...this would have to be done before you turn the quest in though, as you would need to constantly destroy the item that you loot in order to pick it again...kind of a hastle, but it might be easier than going to the next picking area.

The next picking area for me was:

Duskwood Chest

So it was no hassle getting higher skill. All I had to do was kill the one spawn every time it showed up. I got to open the chest several times before he showed up. After that, I went to Desolace - in Kalimdor:

Area of Lockboxes

The pins are not the actual lockbox locations. But it is the area you should be in. Just be sure to bring something to breath under water with, as the boxes are ALL underwater, and you should have the ability to kill a level 33 mob.

I am now level 46, and my picking is maxed at 230. The Desolace boxes are still green for me and only take about 4 to give me one skill point.

At a 230 skill level you can open most of these on the list:

I'm on the Mannaroth Server, and I very rarely see any Horde there. For that matter, I rarely ever see Alliance there either. Plus, you're under water.

I've just completed this Quest and I tried WrathOfEarth's tip, but it didnät work for me.
On the locked boxes I could only skill to 80 :S Wich made me wery sad T_T

Something that has not been mentioned yet..

Chatter (Lv23 rare Spider) tends to spawn right in the middle of the boxes. Watch out for that one.

At first I was wondering "How the heck am I going to level lockpicking?" Then I realized all the comments are true and you can get to 85 at this little mill place, that 25 damage frost hold gets annoying though..haha, good luck.

If you move your camera at the proper angle to where the lockboxes overlap, you can set your mouse to a spot where you can just spam rightclick in order to continue lockpicking. The boxes respawn so fast that simply hitting rightclick every couple of seconds will get your lockpicking skill up.Great way to level lockpicking if you also have something else to do. I submitted a screenshot example-might take a bit for approval.

At level 16 my human rogue was able to bypass all mobs with relative ease thanks to Master of Deception but I suspect even if you didn't have it you would fair fine, no Skulls on the way.

Also if you lean towards the boxes farthest away from Lakeshire and stand on top of one you can cycle through three at a time without moving, very handy.

Take your time and level your lockpicking skill to atleast 75 while you're here, you're gonna need it for the level 20 poisons quest.

if you arrive at the chest and you don't have high enough skill of lock picking, the chest behind you are to practice locks and if u ever want to train in lock picking remember that place and u can always go there to practice

At lvl 18 I skilled up to 90 in lockpicking starting from 5 only had 1 spider run in that I had to kill.

If attempting this quest at level 16, it's recommended to stealth past not only the spiders and birds in the immediate area but the orcs on the road as well, as they range from 19-21 and are hidden from sight by outcroppings.

Just a note, i stood at 52.03, 45.20 then you can access three boxes and dont have to bother moving. Also, that freezing trap thing doesnt matter becuase you dont have to move :D Handy, i say

Glyph of Pick Lock makes this a breeze. There is a spot where you can stand equidistant from 4 boxes and (almost) constantly be picking a lock. At lvl 16 took less than 5 mins to level to 80.

You dont need the Thieves' Tools in 3.x.

Just like to add that while these boxes are great to skillup to 100, going past 100, the boxes are still green, but I've picked them almost 100 times and only got to 102 skill. Would recommend moving on at 100.
