There are alot of trolls around 45.42, you're looking for the caster mobs. You might want to couple it with http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=209.

Took me over an hour at lvl 38 :'(
Was doing the Skullsplinter tusks quest at the same time though.

But keep in mind that you only need to kill Mystics and Witch Doctors for those are the only ones who drop the quest item.

I never notice this with other drop quest so far but after 40 minutes of killing "Mystics and Witch Doctors" with no drops, I then enabled the "Track Quest" option for this quest and my next 7 kills I had the 4 "Skullsplitter Fetish" items. I'd say make sure to SHIFT+CLICK this quest in your "Quest Log" when doing it.

Looks like I got lucky on this quest, It was 100% drop rate for me. Killed Mystics around 46,41, didn't spot any of the Witch Doctors. Lots of damn hunters and axe-throwers around though.

farmed for 80% of my lvl. (40).
almost only axethrowers and other crap around.

As of patch 2.3 this quest now rewards:

4350 experience
275 reputation with Stormwind

Completing this quest opens up the quest to kill Mai'Zoth.

There are some scattered ones at 43, 38. They are kinda spread apart, but it is better than fighting through the mess at the other places listed.

done in 10 mins, quite good drop rate just target troll witchdoctors just off the path !!

Horrible spawn-rate on the quest-mobs, hardly worth the effort imo. Do the quest if you come by alot of witchdoctors and mystics, otherwise consider dropping it.

Watch out for wandering mobs by the troll camps. There are a few hunters/beastmasters that tend to wander around, plus a few groups that generally contain 2-3 warriors and a mystic that can put a serious damper on things if you're not careful.

did it as a lvl 39 paladin drop rates were horrible and i kept aggroing lots of warriors and beastmasters and those wandering scouts + 20% drop rate for me and i did the quest in a total of 12 minutes and 48 seconds and 14 mins as i delivered the quest have fun watch out carefully !!

I've been through Stranglethorn Vale on three alts now. Of all the quests I've done there, this quest is the absolute worst. The mobs you need are buried in among a ton of other humanoids, all of whom run for help. I've died on this quest more times than any other. Unless you really want that Tranquil Orb for the next quest, don't bother with this one.

Its a breeze with a lvl 39 hunter.The drop rate is pretty slow.I wouldnt do this quest unless u want the little orb given for completion of the quest after this.I found mine at 40,30

highly suggested that you use the recommended lvl. the Skullspliter trolls are in high density and you need to be able to handle gang-ups of 3 and even 4 trolls.

I notice now that the questitem drops from every mob that are in the same location as the mystics and doctors. Not sure when they added this, but must be pretty recently.
