Do not be mislead by this quest, and read it carefully. It is stated that you need an Infernal Orb, but you don't get the orb from and Infernal you get it from the warlocks, Burning Blade Summoner's (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=4668). The drop rate is about 55%, I got it on my second kill because I am an unlucky person. Also, after you get this quest, she tells you to talk to her Acolytes behind her. They give you two options either "Shard of a Felhound" (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4962) or "Shard of an Infernal" (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4963).

If you go the route of the Felhound you get to choose from a Shadow damage staff, or a Shadow damage Orb. Otherwise, the route of the Infernal gives you a Fire damage Staff, or a Fire damage Orb.

But first, you need to cleanse the orb, and you don't want to turn anything in before hand because you will fail the quest forever (unless they fixed that finally). To do that you have to head to Dustwallow Marsh to find Tabetha (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=6546), ** Remember her location, she is used for future quests**. Tabetha will have you fight a level 40 Elite Felguard, which is possible at level 36 if you constantly fear it while putting Damage over Time spells on him, and have your Void Walker out.

Also, both horde & alliance (mages and locks, I guess) need to see Tabetha at some point, why you risk running into players from the faction opposing yours.

At level 36, I got ganked several times by other players (usually more than one). The Felguard itself, wasn't that hard to beat, with the Fear-Damage over time-Voidwalker combo mentioned above.

I just got the 40 elite at Level 36. Keep the DoT going and Fear him like crazy. But, here is a tip...clear the surrounding garden patch outside of the house. She walks out to call the beast and my first attempt failed due to the surrounding spiders spitting at me.

I just did this quest, no problem killing elite as lvl 36 affli-lock, lay dots-fear-rinse'n'repeat.

I did this today on my little lock and I returned to ratchet after completing the felhound quest since I completely forgot the part about killing the summoners so i went back to Desolace and did that then I went to Tabetha and did the quest there and no problems at all it's not bugged i got my orb offhand and I'm quite happy.

be sure to clean out the area of beasts before you complete the quest. But do it quickly, the beasts respawn very quickly.

This sounds realy easy, for the fact i soloed bloodmage robe quest at 31 this sud be a sinch, but what lvl is required to et it?

I did this quest today, and got killed by some horde.... -_- tried talking 2 all d NPCs but they won't allow me to re-do the quests.... Is it some bug ?

The potential rewards of the end of this quest line are:

For Infernal, Staff of Noh'Orahil or Orb of Noh'Orahil.

For the Felhound, Staff of Dar'Orahil or Orb of Dar'Orahil.

Tracking-
1. Mannoroc Coven - Desolace /
2. Tabetha - Dustwallow Marsh /

You will need to choose between Infernal and Felhound, this will determine your reward. Infernal is +Fire Dmg and Hound is +Shadow Dmg.

Once you have decided, head to Mannoroc Coven (1.) and slay Burning Blade Summoners for the Infernal orb. Once done find either the Mana Eater or Infernal and use the item to Capture the soul just like Soulshards. Now head to Dustwollow Marsh (2.) and Speak with Tabetha. You will now have a TIMED quest to cleanse the stone eby killing the demon residing inside. It is Lv40 Elite but very low Def and Resistance. Upon killing the demon speak with her again, timed remember. The next portion is too return the cleansed orb too Menera Voidrenderer in Ratchet (Still north of the Flight Master).

If you make the mistake in picking the wrong acolyte to speak to and have already captured the infernal spirit and taken it to Menara Voidrender, there is no turning back even if you drop this quest and you'll have to go out and get another orb to take to Tabetha. Be very careful which one you choose as the quest descriptions from the acolytes are misleading and could have you thinking you're getting something much more beneficial for an affliction warlock if you follow the infernal path.

Unfortunately for me I made that mistake before I checked here to find out what the reward would be thinking I was going to get an infernal minon and some kind of trinket or ability to restore health over time.

I did this as a level 35 warlock with absolutely NO problem. It was so easy. I even completed the other quest "Fragments of the Orb of Orahil" by enslaving an infernal and making it kill one of the succubus' that were around. Free 7,000xp +/-.

for all those confused...if u choose "Shard of a Felhound"...then u also need to kill a summoner for the orb...i spent FOREVER looking for it...

I turned in the first orb before getting the second one cleansed, and when i went back to turn in the cleansed one there there wasn't anyway to do it....does anyone know what i can do at this point?

I need your suggestion of which path to choose as affliction warlock, this is my first mid-level lock. I think felhound path would be more feasable for the shadow damage.

bug haven't been fixed. Okay,first of all when you're doing Felhound,go to Desolace and use that orb to Mana eater and after that kill that summoner,i got that orb from first one and after that head to Dust and talk to Tabetha and she will demon which you have to kill,after that she will cleanse your orb. Then head to Ratched and finish quest.
I made same mistake what everybody else did. Two trips to Desolace is way too much what i can take by walking :)

Even as a 38 with the VW - I still had trouble with killing the demon after it was summoned. It's good to get some help. As long as you get the first hit off the demon, then you should be fine. I had a 44 Priest help - yay guild members!

With the patch there was a change to the rewards.
As such, after taking this quest, you can choose either of the two quests Shard of an Infernal or Shard of a Felhound and the final choice of rewards will be exactly the same (i.e. different named objects with equal stats on them).

its really easy go across the lake a boom i was lucky and got it on my first try hear comes fell hunter! go down to desolace that easy take time though it might be a while.

When I returned to Menara Voidrender, she gave me XP and the quests dissappeard from my log...but I didn't get any items, and I still have the cleansed orb. NOW, Menara tells me to "talk to her acolytes to finish the orb" (which I DID already), and the acolytes don't talk to me. NONE of the characters have an exclamation point or a question mark above them, and like I said, the quests are gone from my log. WHAT DO I DO?

You're barking up the wrong tree. Go talk to Tabetha. After you cleanse the orb, you have to get it from her, once she gives it to you, you can bring it back to Menara. (Sounds like you did the cleanse orb quest, completed it, but did not take the follow-up FedEx quest from Tabetha to Menara. Tabetha does not automatically give you back the cleansed orb after completing the cleansing quest, you have to take the follow-up from her to get it back.)

Like everything else when it comes to world quests, this has become an utter waste of time for the rewards gained. I remember when these quests actually had comparable rewards, and you felt like you achieved something. THere is nothing here that you cant get from a few LFD runs (which these days guarantees some kind of blue regardless of drops).

Don't make the mistake of rushing through this (for whatever reason); I found out the hard way that obtaining the infernal orb and turning in the quest to Menera without Tabetha doing her part results in SUPERFAIL. You will have to no longer be able to do the quest...abandoning it and starting from the beginning will not work.

It is that orb that you will cleanse with the help of a mage named Tabetha deep in southern Dustwallow Marsh. She will aid you because of our history together.

Second, you must travel to Desolace and find an Infernal Orb from one of the warlocks of Mannoroc Coven. It is that orb that you will cleanse with the help of a mage named Tabetha deep in southern Dustwallow Marsh. She will aid you because of our history together.

Again, do not come back until you have done both things I've asked.
