In the middle of the Barrens, you should come to a fork in the road with Camp Taurajo to the west of you. There looks to be a small wooden tee-pee looking camp directly east of you. Go past that & through the dinosaurs. There are 2 white tents in the distance. Talk to Takar the Seer

Kind a pain if you are in a PvP server and a alliance, but if everything goes all well, this should be easy as pie :)

It's a bit tough if your on a pvp server. If so I suggest going along the mountains. there are paths at the top with minimal creatures and you can't be spotted from the road.

However if you're on a PvE server, you definitely can see the white tent from the road. It's on the right as you travel north on the main road.

I take the longer route but you are less likely to die........If from wetlands you go to Auberdine (remember to get the flight path. Then head south and follow rd to Ashenvale and Astranaar (again get flight path) then head south(east) and when the road branches go right which continues south when you come to the barrens (very obvious the scenary turns brown go left there is an unmanned little sneak entrance there then folow the path down (avoiding towns!) also if you think about it you may want to remember to go to Ratchet on your way down and grap that flight path as this is useful later and will save you the walking!

A real pain. I am only level 21 so I have to walk the whole way! (after flying to Menethil Harbor and sailing to Kalimdor).
The nice thing is that there are barely any hostiles (at least on the Dalaran realm) on the way to camp.

This is what worked for me: Go to Westfall, head out to the coast near the Lighthouse (to the southwest) and swim to Booty Bay using your Unending Breath. The coords. for Booty Bay are 26.75. Stay away from the coast so you don't aggro any of the land creatures (they are fast and will swim out to attack you). There weren't any aggro sea creatures that I could see. Once at Booty Bay, get the FP, take the ship to Ratchet, get the FP there, and take the road out of Ratchet west, but avoid getting too close to Crossroads (you can cut across to the road heading south). Then, head south on the road to coord. 49.57. At level 20, I stayed away from any buildings I could see from the road, and didn't run into any guards. When you get close to the coords you should be able to see the tent Takar is in front of. Then, you can reverse back to Ratchet or hearth out.

Hm, I'm doing this quest as i write... I've got one idea that i'm going to try out. I'm playing on PVP server and normaly i died... And the thing is 2 horde chars were camping on my corpse. And i was tired of waiting them to go, so i released my spirit and started walking toward Barrens :) . I think you get my idea now ;)

EDIT: Dont try this... Just ressed at spirit healer near the location, and it tp-ed me back to ashenwale (the place i died)...
EDIT2: Did other path thats pretty safe with warlock. You can do this quest without dieing (even on PVP realm). I went over stonetalon mountains. (Darkshore=>Ashenwale=>Stonetalon M.=>Barrens)

Its better to go through ashenvale from Darkshore because you need to go to ashenvale for the next quest and you will already have the flight point.

So many people make this out to be harder than it is. I took the boat to Theramore. From there I ran to the Barrens. I cannot emphasize enough sticking precisely to the roads. I did aggro four mobs along the way. But I made sure my armor was all repaired. And I summoned my Voidwalker and put him on defensive. When a mob aggrod, I took the first hit, and the voidwalker immediately taunted the aggro off. I never stopped running. After I got a little ways away (far enough that the mob couldn't catch up, but still close enough that my pet didn't de-spawn) I put myself on autorun and put the pet on passive. He would then start running to catch up with me. Eventually he outran the mob and it dropped off. I never needed to stop and never did a single corpserun.

i play on a pvp server so i did this early in the morning when the server is empty, makes life so much easier, still a stupidly long way to go though

the easy route that i took was from the wetlands took the boat to darkshore but jump out when the other continant loads then swim to the south edge of darkshore and follow the road to ashenvale,go itno astranaar and get fp and set your hearth at the inn there, then go east out of astranaar on the road follow signs to barrens,once you are in the barrens start to climb on top of the hills there and continue south it will be a little more than half way down the map on the right hand side,or 49,57 for those with co ord. the hills you are on will allow you to take a downward slope to this area.you will avoid mobs and horde this way.after turning in the quest hearth to astranaar and there you go half the walk time. then just remeber to set your hearth back to were you want it =)

Erm , WTF GUYS!?!@ , First OF ALL u start the quest from the Trainer in Stormwind not the fucking goldshire pride Inn K?! , and 2nd why isnt the levels wrriten in the back page i mean for the warlocks quest like this quest is for level 10 and this is for 20 , 30 , and that i kept serching 5 minutes for this quest ... ffs

No real problems from Astranaar, ran into a couple of players, but I'm on a PvE server, so all's cool.

Definitely get the flight plan from Ratchet. On Blizzard's atlas it doesn't show it connecting to Astranaar, but it does. So, fly up to Astranaar, and do the next.

If you go to the southwest corner of Westfall, you'll see a fisherman on a dock. Jump off the dock and swim south and you'll go into Stranglethorn Vale. Don't swim close to the shore.. you'll want to keep your distance since this is a lvl 30+ zone. There is plenty of room here before you need to worry about fatiguing. Keep swimming south (more or less paralleling the shore) and you'll come to a large statue of a goblin. You can't miss it. That is the harbor for Booty Bay. Just swim right in, there's a ramp up at the town. Just watch out for gankers, the guards don't help you if you're in the water.

I guess it depend on what flightpaths you already have, but here's how I did it.

Flew to Loch Modan. Ran up to Wetlands (did the Gauntlet quest on the way) and took the FP there. Boat over to Darkshore, took the FP there. Ran to Ashenvale, and, yes, took the FP there. Ran to Barrens and got ganked. Ressed and kept running. Found Takar. Ran to Ratchet and took FP there. Flew to Ashenvale and ran to get the Heartroot (and got ganked on the way). Stoned back to SW and got the Succubus.

Took me quite some time, due to computer hitting 100% CPU every now and then. Makes running a bitch, and PVP impossible. Forgot to take the boat from Ratchet to BB for the FP there, but no matter.

The best way to get to him is first take the boat in wetlands to dustwallow, and then run through without getting killed. you'll end up in the barrens pretty near him. hes in a little camp with another guy just south of camp T

WTF...?? There are horde guards everywhere around the camp. I have no idea how to get in there. At coords 49, 57 there is only two delapidated tents. Where the hell is this dude. All the guards appear as lvl?? to my lvl 21 warlock.

As of the opening of Stormwind Harbor (10/15/08), this questline becomes simpler for Alliance. Simply take the boat from Stormwind to Auberdine, get flight point, walk south to Astranaar, get flight point, walk south into Barrens (making sure to go around the guards through the hole in the wall), go to Takar the Seer (a little east of the fork in the road south of the Crossroads leading either to Mulgore or Thousand Needles) who will give you a quest in Ashenvale, walk back thru Astranaar to Maestra's Point, go northwest and find the sparkling tree, kill enough mobs to get close enough to the tree to activate it -- and you can activate it from very far away, so don't worry about killing a lot or getting real close -- then go back to Astranaar, fly back to Auberdine and take the boat back to Stormwind.

I didn't do it that way, however; I went through Darkshore then corpse-ran through STV to Booty Bay (rezzing at the healer right outside Booty Bay when I could), boat to Ratchet, saw the Seer, then finished as described above. This gave me a lot of flight points which will undoubtedly be useful as this alt levels up. Took a long time, though.

Alot of people make a deal over this because you're going into Horde territory, fine - if you're on PvP server it's annoying but it's still a walk in the park if you're not attracting attention.

Remember, you're a Warlock. Let's make this easy - this is the way I've done this quest on four Warlocks.

1. Fly to Westfall

2. Run to the coastline, near the Westfall Lighthouse

3. Swim to Booty Bay (tedious, I know)

4. Use Unending Breath and swim undearneath the water, to check whats there, just incase you attract any unwanted attention and to make sure there is no horde coming your way.

5. Once in Booty Bay get the flight path, take a ship to Ratchet, get that flight path then run to Takar, obviously being careful.

If you're on a normal realm, you can walk through this quickly without worrying, if you're on a pvp server, just remember to be slightly more careful and cunning, remember horde will try and kill you, so try and get the advantage first, afterall you're a Warlock.

You get this quest in SW, why not ask a mage for portal to
theramore or/and help all the way there?
There is some nice people that will help you for like 10-20g...

As many people seam to have some troubles with this quest I decided to write this short guide. In my opinion this is by far the easiest, maybe fastest and most fool proof.

1. Get to Menethil (many the FP to here already and if you don't its about time you get it.)

2. Drown. Yeah, drown. Anywhere near Menethil Harbour is fine and remeber to strip to avoid repair fees.

3. Now that you are dead run to the ship that takes you to Theramore Isle, thats the left dock by the way.

4. Once in Theramore just start corpse running towards Barrens. You can find the spirit healer that can ress you from herehttp://www.wowhead.com/?npc=6491 under "The Barrens" ofc. I would choose the one that closest to the quest giver http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=6244

5. Thats about it. The quest giver is like 50 m away from where you ressed.

Remeber that you need to die in Menethil. If you kill yourself in Theramore and run to the barrens spirit healer you will get knocked back to the graveyard you spawned from.

Pros:
+ As a ghost you run faster
+ No need for unnecessary corpse running

Cons:
- 40% off of your durability
- 10 min ress sickness

Mostly using Daveyray's instructions this how I did it. May not be the quickest or the best but it's tried and tested.

I'm a level 20 Warlock on a PVE server, these instructions assume no prior knowledge of the geography. From picking up the quest to receiving the Succubus took me 2 hours 5 minutes including waiting for boats but mostly just running, so before you start I recommend a comfortable chair and a glass or cup of something to keep you going. The times I've given here are for reference only your mileage may vary. I killed 3 mobs in the whole time.

00:00 Picked up quest
Head out to the Stormwind harbour and catch the boat to Auberdine (It's the quay furthest left as you're looking out to sea)

00:17 Arrived Auberdine
When you get to Auberdine get off the boat and head inland find the flight point at the end of the quay (land end)
Head South out of Auberdine on the road. If you're going the right way here are the minimap titles you'll see

Still heading south you'll come into Ashenvale continue to head south out of Ashenvale. Here are the minimap titles you'll see

Pick up the flight point (on your left as you enter the village)
Head out south again - As you're leaving Astranaar the road forks, stay on the left hand fork (heading more easterly)

As you are leaving Nightsong Woods you'll cross the Falfarren river after the river you'll meet a T junction turn right and start heading south.

When you reach a fort you'll need to head off to the left across country, don't go too close to the fort or the guards will get you. The point you're looking for is a small fire on the left of the road, turn left there. Go through the hole in the wall and pick up the road again on the other side of the fort. Keep heading south.

You'll come across another tower and building on your right, give them a wide birth, stay well left or you'll get killed by guards continue on the southern gold road until you arrive at the crossroads.

Next you'll come to a Hoarde town at the crossroads, go around it and pick up the road to the south (note the road heading due South not the one heading south east). Eventually on your left you will see two abandoned buildings, they look like frames of former buildings,when you see them look more immediately left and in the distance under a tree you'll see a small tent, that's where you want to be, head over there and find the seer.

When you hand in the quest you'll get the next part Heartswood

Hearthstone back to Stormwind (if that's where your HS is set) take the boat out to Auberdine and fly to Astranaar otherwise retrace your steps above to get back to the Astranaar flight point

01:29 Back at the Astranaar flight point
Get back onto the road heading north west and when you get to Maestra's Post carry on right through until your minimap says Ashenvale again, then look out for a broken column on the right hand side of the road. When you get to the columns turn right and head east across country.

As soon as you discover "The Ruins of Ordil'Aran" you'll see lots of Warlocks with minions, you need to get close enough to a sparkling tree in the background. I only had to kill two guards and it wasn't a hard battle (you don't have to be very close).

01:44 Completed the Heartswood section of the quests
Now head back to Stormwind by whichever method is the easiest at this point. When I did it my hearthstone wasn't available so I had to fly and get the boat.

02:02 Arrived back at the trainer (Gakin the Darkbinder) in Stormwind
Gakin will send you downstairs to the summoning circle to summon and kill a succubus, when you've done this head back up stairs where you will be presented with your reward, the ability to summon a succubus.

Another way of doing this, considering there is no rush, is to keep typing "/who the barrens". I may have been lucky, but I found a lock in a party who was willing to summon me to the barrens for 3g :)

At level 20 to get to Ratchet assumes you went to Booty Bay and then across. Somehow considering the low level and many beasties you are going to attract on the way down it just aint practical.

It took nothing for me to get to Ratchet at level 20, without needing to go via Booty Bay. I did the Darkshore -> Ashenvale -> Barrens method and while running down to see Takar I stopped by in Ratchet and picked up the flight path. Considering it's pretty much on the way, it's not at all ridiculous crazy to get to. The only beasty that took a swipe at me was a level 14 raptor, and he merely chewed on my Felsteed's leg before letting go.

Rybin's suggestion of flying back to Ashenvale from Ratchet is the one I took, without the need to blow my hearthstone. If mounted, as I was, the trip from Takar back to Ratchet wasn't much of a hassle. I suggest this option if players are down a hearthstone, don't wish to use theirs or don't want to retrace their steps from SW only to have to return to the city the long way the second time around after completing Heartswood.

Now easy to get to Barrens as Alliance.

1. Get in a group for Wailing Caverns

2. Die inside Wailing Caverns

3. Resurrect at Spirit Healer (Resurrection Sickness, Smessurection Sickness)

4. Walk a little bit to turn in the quest

ps Don't forget to go to Ratchet to talk to someone about the Crystal from WC, get the Ratchet FP, and pick up the Blue Leaf Tubers quest.

A succubus is a devourer of souls, destroyer of hearts, and dominator of minds. It knows nothing but evil.

This will be the creature you will learn to summon and control, but it cannot be brought into our world without a stimulus.

With a symbol of love as bait, it will surely answer your call. Then you can defeat it, and make it your tool.

It will be hard to find something of this nature, though. You should speak with Takar the Seer. You will find him in the Barrens of Kalimdor near Camp Taurajo.
