This quest is done outside of Deadmines. There is a lighter colored area on the mini-map. This is where the undead are, the named elite "Foreman Thistlenettle" is the one that drops the badge.

just finished this quest as well as Collecting Memories ( http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=168 ) which I recomend you have in your quest log as well since it requires the same mobs.

Just to clarify on my previous post. When you reach the split I mentioned before where if you turn right (west) you head towards the instance; strait ahead of you is a recessed area. Where you want to go is across the bridge on the left -- the undead are strait ahead and to the right after the bridge.

Also note -- the rare mob Marisa du'Paige ( http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/mob.html?wmob=599 ) is under the bridge (I don't know if this is the only place she spawns -- but that's where I found her)

This is in the same area as the Collecting Memories quest.

This quest is soloable with a Hunter(22). I made is just by killing some mobs, let the pet die, and run out of aggro. And back inn again. Foreman Thistlenettle is abit hard, but just keep mind the pet. You might need to finish the fight your self..

Hmm, after completing this quest I became honoured with darnassus, either ironforge and darnassus are linked or it gives sumthin there too...

This quest, and the other quest that this NPC gives you (Collecting Memories) are now possible to solo for someone lvl17-20ish since the mobs outside of the Deadmines instance are now all non-elite as of patch 2.3. Managed to solo both of them with my lvl17 mage.

Found him at 41, 81 in the mine, the southern part which is colored violet on the mini-map.

Soloable, but if you take that route go slow. Although the mobs aren't elite anymore, there are still a lot of them and they can gang up and kill you really easily. I waited to do this until lvl 22 so I could solo it rather quickly.

how do i get inside the mine??? they only entrance i found has a wall that i cannot jump, is there another way in?

It's in the Deadmines, just not the instance. After you get to the bottom of the entrance, go to the right path until you get to the open area. It'll have a place where you can go down, to the right, or over a bridge to the left. Cross the bridge & go straight to notice the shadowy violet area on the mini map. The rare NPC Brainwashed Noble spawns here as well.

The quest is still a real pain to solo because the mobs gang up on you. Also the Skeletal Miners have a curse called Call of the Grave that hits you out of nowhere for 180 shadow damage after 60 seconds. You could be at 25% health about to kill a mob & BAM dead!

This guy had 2 lower lvl (16 or 17) tied to him, so be careful if your close to that and solo. Respawn time was horrible, so be prepared for a wait.

We were deep in a vast mine in Westfall, hidden beneath a barn in Moonbrook. No clue where these stinkin' thieving types came from. Anyway, the mine tunnel collapsed on us. I got out but the others... well... the others haven't been heard from.

You look like you might have better luck in there. If you could look for my brother, I'd be thankful. He always carried his Explorers' League Badge. If you can't find him, that badge would at least give me some peace of mind.
