This quest chain doesn't really end here when you defeat Tapoke Jahn he gives you a quest which leads to the other half of the quest chain. He is quite hard and comes with a bodyguard if your lucky there will be some high levels around who will help you when they see you fighting them. He turns friendly when he's defeated and then returns to the inn.

If a Mage opens with a sheep, he won't summon his guard.

I soloed him with only a little difficulty at lvl 29.

As of the 9th of march 2007 i did this on my 29 warrior very hard, got help from another, just get him to 20'ish % and he surender.

Also i notes that he didnt had a bodyguard as he use to in the "old" days,.. maybe cause i charge the sec he turned hostile, dunno... GL ;]

pretty easy if your a higher lvl, but I had no idea what was going on. He started swinging at me lol.

Kinda easy if you fear him right in the beginning... then u wont have his bodyguard to worry about. Soloed as a 29 warlock with vw just fear some more and dot him down

I did it as a 28 Hunter. Before I started, I placed an ice trap near the mailbox outside the inn. I then went in and started the event. He walked outside and became attackable right before he walked over the trap. (I was lucky it didn't resist.) Once he was frozen, I gave myself some space, turned on Cheetah, and sent in my pet. Growl was resisted alot but I kept firing until I got aggro, at which point I started kiting him around the keep. Easy when you know what's going to happen.

Soloed at lvl 30 Holy Pally. very easy. Started off with Hanner of Justice to stun. No adds were called. Had to heal myself twice. Thats it.

As soon as you accept quest just run outside and he will come out of the inn. Stun Him and break out a can of Whoop arssssss

I don't know how you sheep/fear him, the summon effect seems to be instant - I couldn't stun him before he summoned his friend. I used chastise, 0.5sec cast...
I coudn't kill him at lvl29, but at 30 it was not hard (shadow priest).

L31 Shaman. Put first Stoneskin and healing totem outside for support, then start, throw Magma totem here by entrance.
Keeping attacking him with Earthshock, also if possible to prevent calling another mobs. Just i see only one guard, but i keep focusing at main npc. No problem.
Oh yes, i have Windfury weapon buff.

Did it with a 29 lock. Succubus' seduce works the same as all the other stuns and he didn't spawn his guard. Keep fears and dots on him and he isn't too bad.

He'll appear inside the inn at Menethil Harbor when you have the quest. You have to take him outside and take him down to 20% or so, and he'll beg for mercy. :)

I can't start the fight with him. Lvl 33 now but I have had the quest since lvl 30. When I try to attack him , it says invalid target????

Did it as a 29 warlock. I started with a seduce from my succubus. Fears don't really work since they get resisted a lot, so I summoned the voidwalker right after the seduce. After that it was just tank & spank with the occasional health funnel.

Easy soloed at lvl 28 ... hunter that is.
Just pop Frost Trap and kite them around in it , keep up a Serpent sting and sometimes a Arcane Shot.
A fast wep might be required else its hard to kite them in such a little area.
But no big deal, just save mana for trap. :)

stunning him to stop him from summoning a bodyguard no longer works im a rogue and i gouged him the first time and died, then i got help but this time i sapped. both times he summoned a bodyguard. he's a lvl 34 by the way so it will help if you have a higher lvl friend or someone else to help you.

I fought him recently as a 30 Paladin. Opened with Hammer of Justice after reading the comments here, and he did not in fact summon his friend.
For rogues, I don't think Gouge or Sap count as a stun, do they? I'm not entirely sure, but further up someone said Cheapshot works.

did this as a 29 druid, just enrage before he becomes attackable and open up with a bash, no adds summoned, insect swarmed/moonfired him to death while healing with rejuv since he seemed to have less resistance to my dots than actual casts (wrath/starfire)

Solo'd in one try as a lvl 28 Rogue.

Just hit him once his name turn yellow. Vanish, then cheapshot once his bodyguard disappears. His Bodyguard won't come back, allowing you to fight him 1 on 1.

I'll admit, I'm also an Herbalist, so Lifeblood helped a lot.

dude his friend comes back after... i tried shadowmelding and the bodyguard went away but came back straight after i hit him again =.=

Opened with a stun but the bodyguard spawned anyway. He leaves when Tapoke Jahn surrenders so if you have cooldowns, just focus onTapoke.

soloable with a 28 combat rogue, needs a healing potion and use evasion

The add will stop hitting you when you subdue Tapoke.

Every time i did this quest i thought it was odd that the guy doesn't just run off when i let him leave to go get his notes... my character is pretty dumb just to wait in the inn for him to return he could be half way to hillsbrad by now!
