You should have a scroll of Kobo skin in your bag, this will tell you how to call Frostmaw.

First you must kill a lion in the area, and get the carcass.

He is to the northwest of Tarren mill, you are in the correct area if there are lots of white yetis. There will be a cave, go into the cave and clear it. Then place the carcass of the lion on the fire in the cave. That will call Frostmaw.

As a 35 warlock i was able to solo it without any troubles. This quest is easy to find as it is in one of the same locations as 'Hecular's Revenge' (Flame of Uzel) which can be recived at Hillsbrad Foothills.

Frostmaw takes about 3~5 seconds to appear in the cave so don't worry if he doesn't spawn straight away.

Co-ords are 37,67 for the cave, and I hunted the nearest mountain lion, and got the carcass

Make sure you watch out for alliance members cause when i did this quest, 5 alliance members poped out of no where and killed me. i soloed this quest at 31.

Solo'd as 31 Orc Warlock, but it was a pain. Failed the first time, got him down to 122 health, but my voidwalker was almost dead so Sacrificed him for the bubble figuring I could easily finish off Frostmaw without him. But instead of aggro'ing me, Frost dropped aggro, evaded, healed, ran back to the cave entrance and despawned. I was pissed.

Second try, I didn't kite him so far away from the cave entrance and didn't sac void, and he went down. If you pull any adds, don't attack them, just run as far away as you can from their pat area, they have a shorter aggro range than Frostmaw and will deaggro and return, then pull Frostmaw back toward the cave so he doesn't evade too.

I did this quest when I was a lvl 30 warlock (demonology) very painful, took me three tries to kill him successfully

Solo'd as a lvl 31 Warrior. I had the Whirlwind weapon, so that helped out a ton. Pop Retal and say goodbye.

This should combine all the previous comments into one meta-tip:
You get this quest from Melor Stonehoof in TB after completing Steelsnap.

1- Head to Tarren Mill and make sure to pick up Helcular's Revenge, http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=553, which takes you to the cave at Darrow Hill in Hillsbrad Foothills.

2- Head north towards the Alterac Mountains, in between The Headland and Corrahn's Dagger. Careful for the Alliance entrance to AV, as the guards will Kill on Sight.

3- Continue north, where you should look for the Growless Cave. Kill mountain lions until you loot a , then proceed to the Flame of Uzel, (37, 66).

4- Clear the nearby Yetis in and around the cave, click the flames so you get credit for your other quest, then place the carcass on the Flame of Uzel.

**Frostmaw will spawn outside the cave and after a few moments begin wandering in at a slow pace.

**He has 1535 HP and does approximately 135 DPS.

as the first post said, kill a lion, get the skin, find the cave, burn the skin, and then get the frostmaw :)

Despite what the Kodo Skin Scroll says, the lion you kill for the carcass doesn't have to be a Hulking Mountain Lion. The regular Mountain Lions just south of the cave will do.

Solo'ed as lvl30 feral druid. At the start of the fight i tried bearform but he resisted every attack so i switched to catform and slowly killed him. The fight took a while cuz he still resisted alot of attacks. Had to use a healthpot cuz i was out of mana to heal myself.

Watch for respawns if you plan on fighting inside the cave. I didn't know there were any, and they killed me at the last minute.

Did as a mage level 30 with a level 30 rogue, very simple. The rogue had full hp when Frostmaw died and I hardly lost any.

What a pain in the butt! Its a good thing they give u so much xp. I was considering skipping this with my other toon. I didn't think it was worth the time wasted. So good to see the sweet xp reward.

Head north from Tarren Mill and kill a Mountain Lion on the way to get the carcass. After you have obtained the carcass procede to the co-ordinates and use the carcass at the flame. Frostmaw then slowly wanders to the entrance of the cave. He is a regular level 37 Yeti.

Just solo'd as a 29 druid. One additional note to the prevous advice: the yetis will respawn quickly, and at 29 the fight will take a while (do it in cat, bear does nothing), so don't hesitate - kill all the yetis leading up to the cave, then the three in the cave, then fight Frostmaw at the back of the cave so if the front yeti respawns he won't aggro. Enjoy your Spirit Hunter Headdress in 29 BGs :)

Just soloed him as a 32 affliction specced warlock, didn't even break a sweat. Has he been nerved? I simply waited in the cave untl he aggroed, send in Voidwalker, put Corruption and curse of Agony on him and kept both on him throughout the whole fight. Then I simply started to Drain Life and Life Tap alternating the whole time, refreshing DoT's when necessary, and once Health Funnel on the Voidie close to the end of the fight.

Dismal failure as a decently geared (32) enhancement shammy. Resisted most spells, resisted/dodged most attacks, healing myself and potting and using the trinket from Loksey all resulted in failure. By the time I would get him down to 400 health, I had already burned most of my mana trying to kill him or heal myself. It would generally result with respawns moving in on my tots and joining the fight. Quest needs to be labeled group, or the mob needs nerfed. Hits more like an elite, than a level 37.

very easy for a 36 feral druid, just use bear form, and with 1822 armor and demoralizing roar, he hit for about 20-30 damage, which is very weak. easily soloed.

Just solo'd this as a lvl 33 feral druid... not too difficult in my opinion... cleared yetis inside cave one by one then dropped carcass... moved back into cave. saw frostmaw head in. cast 2 HoT heals dropped to cat form stealthed. built up energy cast Tigers Fury, snuck up behind, hit with Ravage, cast faerie fire, got 3 ticks with claw one with rake then finished off ferocious bite and had about 80% health left.

Fairly easy kill as a lvl 33 BE Hunter. I had a new pet who was "unruly" (2) - a lvl 31 bear from near Warsong Lumber camp named Ursol'lok. His unruliness made it a challenge as he ran once, but I still had >60% life in the end. I set a fire trap in front of myself, waited until he showed and started the bear in on him, followed by my distance attacks and spells all at the same time. Once he closed in, some melee Raptor Strikes helped seal the deal.

All in all, getting past the hordes of mountain lions and yetis was the most time consuming thing (though not really difficult). But for all the skinners and leatherworkers, there is a TON of material to be mined on your way to and from this quest. I may go back for more. Medium and Heavy Leather abounds, along with some hides and pet meat!

Soloed as a level 30 MM Hunter, didn't even have to heal my pet. I have fairly good gear, doesn't require hundreds of gold though.

As a lvl 34 hunter with a pet he wasn't hard at all and i didn't even have to get the mountain lion carcass cause i got to the cave just as another player died trying to kill Frostmaw

Quickest way to get to the cave, head north of the Yeti cave in Hilsbrad, get the carcass from a lion and keep running directly up that hill that'll take you into Alterac and straight to Frostmaw's cave with only a minimum number of kills to clear a path.

I was able to do this as a level 31 Hunter. I have a cloud serpent as a pet, which falls under the Cunning talent tree, and he was unhappy. I am specked in Beast Mastery. It was a bit of a challenge, but I did it with about half health left. You should clear the other yetis out of the cave before you call Frostmaw. You can kill Mountain Lions south of the cave. They are around level 32. Frostmaw doesn't really go into the cave. He just spontaneously generates a little west of the entrance.

I completed this quest as a level 30 Shaman. It took a couple of minutes but doable none the less. Just drop a Stoneskin Totem along with a Mana Spring Totem and Searing Totem and have at it. Be sure to keep your Water Shield up and cast Lesser Healing Wave on yourself when necessary and you're golden.

Just if anyone soloholic wonders, hes very doable at lvl 30 for one who can tank & heal.
Im balance druid, just heals when ever hp dropping to under 50% in bearform.

drinked some coffee and red tex willer, was hitting him 1-15 per swipe of a paw, so took bout 10min to kill it.

This was incredibly easy for my 34 feral druid. I screwed up big-time, too. After fighting the three yetis in the cave, I forgot to drink my mana replenishment potion, and when Frostmaw got to me I didn't have enough mana to go into bear or cat form after I put Starfire and Moonfire on him. So I was whacking at him with my staff, thinking I was done for, when I noticed that he was already half dead and that I had enough mana to heal myself. I did that, cast Moonfire again and by the time I was ready to switch to cat, he was dead.

Managed to solo as a level 28 undead combat rogue. Was quick difficult but with a pot, gauge and bandage it was ok. Had about 1/6 health left.
