you can complete this quest at lvl 19 :P for those who didnt know, Glacial stone mace is the best twink mace for lvl 19 twinks :D

The Quest Requires level 24 to actually accept it so level 19 cannot get the two-handed mace until they are level 24.

I see my mistake then,but i think it'll be very hard for a level 19 to solo the quest and you don't ALWAYS find someone that can help you.

Ill correct all of you just for a laugh.

First of all: Yes, this is the best twink weapon do to the procc of 75 damage.

2nd: Its a follow up quest. The quest lvl is 24, but since its becoming avaiable after doing a quest of lower level requiry, twinks are able to get it.

Ofcause its hard to solo, but most twinks that use 1000's of gold on thier characters MOST likely know someone that can help them.

For any class other then: Warrior, Paladin. I'd recommend taking the Rod as well.

I thought that you just needed to HAVE the Rod and then you could finish the quest and keep the Rod.

Ok i already have the rod on another toon and i want the xp. So i tryed to turn in the quest to Raene Wolfrunner but it seems that she wont except it...i guess i will just keep the rod

Just in case you weren't sure, you have to keep the quest in your quest log in order to keep the rod - you can't abandon it.

As of 2.3 if you abandon the quest while on the last step, The Rod will disappear....However if you talk to Raene Wolfrunner again she will have an option where you can say you lost your rod. Choose that and she will give you another Rod....Just did this 2 minutes ago. ^_^

I would recommend completing the quest up to the hidden shrine, and simply not accepting the next quest. You keep the rod, and don't lose a spot in your quest log.

The another questitem for quest http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5388 is destroyable without risk to lose rod. You don't need next quest after completing Krolgs own quest.

Id keep it if say i was non-druid but if your a druid this is crap compared to all the other forms you have around lvl 20 but if ya wanna keep it keep it

Personally i think the rod is much cooler just dont finish the quest and you will keep it u can destry everything but the rod and still keep it i didnt do the very last quest and i have the rod! its realy fun!

There is already simple way to keep Dartol's Rod of Transformation without destroying anything.

As mentioned above; do Raene's Cleansing(10th step) and turn it. After successfully completed 10th step, Krolg will give you 11th step of chain. Just don't accept new step and keep rod.

I started this quest series on a warrior almost 1k into L18. When finished, I was 2k into 19.

Perfectly doable with a L32 hunter helping me. Unlike the Runic Darkblade quest series on Horde side, you don't need to do most of the quest line as a ghost. In fact there weren't really any parts of the series requiring it be done as a ghost; just stay out of party when your escort kills side mobs.

ok so if your making a twink warrior the best weapon is the glacial stone it is sad that u dont the the furblog thing but ya it is a great weapon

Even if u get the skull first time around, u still have to kill the damn guy again for it.

I got the skull on the first kill, but when I tried to deliver it was gone again.
Had to run all the way back and kill him again. Be sure u have it in ur bag o_o

This quest is broken/changed in a few ways now, here's what I've found as of patch 3.0.3:

Ran doesn't drop his skull in stage 10 of this quest - however, if you accept stage 11 and go back and kill Ran again he drops his skull
The rod does, sadly, only work in Ashenvale now, so there's no point in trying to keep it
If you abandon the quest you'll likely lose the rod - which is sorta pointless since they nerfed the rod - and while Raene will give you another, this isn't really well advertised, I had to get that from the forums after being stuck for a while...

ran bloodtooth's scull is not 100% drop rate so make sure you have it before running all the way back to Raene wolfrunner

the glacial stone is actually 19 twink, twinks with the stone normally get top 3 in damage chart

ulduar ptr allows both dartol's rod and finishing the quest
repeat: u can do BOTH finish the quest AND have the rod FOREVER.

the rod can be used in thousands af zones, i tried in stormwind and at lakeshire and it worked succesfully for 3 min as well:)

As some of the comments about keeping the rod are a little confusing, I'll try to clarify.

This is an 11 step quest chain, and you can complete the first ten quests just fine. If you want to keep the rod, you must accept the 11th quest and then abandon it. The Rod will disappear from your inventory. You can then go back to Raene in Astranaar and get a new rod from her.

as of patch 3.2 the rod can still be used anywhere used it just alittle while ago in Dalaran as a lvl 80 dk

This quest, and every step leading up to it, contributes towards your Loremaster of the Eastern Kingdoms achievement. Furthermore, in case you're worried (as I was), you do now get to keep Dartol's Rod of Transformation upon handing in the final step.

I did this quest chain a couple of months ago, never accepted the final quest and still have it on my mage right now. Usable anywhere. I run almost every instance I do in Northrend as a furbolg.

As of patch 4.0.1, I can confirm that you get to keep the rod once you have completed the entire quest chain.

Now, take the rod and while using its power, speak with my brother, Ota Wen.

Ota is amongst the other furbolg that the orcs have captured and have penned in the giant cage on the north side of Silverwind Refuge. The rod will allow you to convince Ota and the other furbolg to rise up and attack the Horde.

Then you may go wherever your path leads you. Just know that you have found a new friend for that which you have done.
