So Malgayne has finally succumbed—and given me
POWAH
! Behold my fearsome wrath! All shall tremble before my might! Or...at least...my...blogging? *cough* Anyways, moving on to the actual post:
I would like to introduce a man to you, known as "Pascal." He is a "papercrafter" and has recently done an interview for Blizzard EU which can be viewed
here
. Some of his models he has created include: Thrall, a Kodo, a Gnome, an Abomination, and a golem. It's really amazing stuff that he does. The Thrall model, for instance, required
32
standard size pages. Imagine how long it takes to make these! This guy certainly has my respect.
I won't rehash most of the stuff covered in the interview, you can view that for yourself. If you wish to view his own blog (which includes more models) you can find it
here
.
What is papercrafting you may ask? Basically, you upload a 3D model to a program known as
Pepakura
and then specify where you want the lines to be cut along. You can then print this out and make your very own real life 3D model out of paper! Pascal offers some hints and tips for your creation, including:
Do not use printing paper; go for a thicker one and your creation will be more solid.
Always draw lines before you start folding, your lines will be straighter.
Just use basic white glue, but don't use too much!
Take your time.
I would suggest you start with a nice, easy model before working your way up to harder stuff. Pascal has a Treasure Chest model which you can download
here
. It's nice and simple, and it even opens and can hold small items!
Good luck with your models! Anybody who manages to build one is encouraged to post their pictures in this thread!
