Warlock Dragonflight Class Tree
Warlock Dragonflight Talents - What's New?
The Dragonflight expansion has introduced a completely new take on talents and abilities. Instead of learning spells as we level and picking one out of three talent choices in set of rows, we now have talent trees that do both. You get one generic tree shared between the three Warlock specs, as well as a spec-specific tree. The points you gain as you level will both be used to build out your ability toolkit as well as picking up passives that empower your abilities.
There are a multitude of returning talents from current Demonology and we gain access to some old ideas and some shared utility that we didn't have before. Some of these talents include
Conduíte da Alma
,
Queimadura Anímica
and
Amplificar Maldição
. We also get to share some of our previously unique abilities like
Vínculo Anímico
and
Grimório de Sinergia
.
In addition to sharing some abilities and talents we will also get to experience some new stuff of course:
Guilhotina
,
Comando Infernal
,
,
Ambição de Gul'dan
and
Vontade de Ner'zhul
. There is a number of new talents that offer a bunch of synergy and better overall gameplay that should make for some interesting builds for all scenarios and some major quality of life changes towards
Portal Etéreo
that may actually make the talent playable. The variation of builds between being focused on a major cooldown, your primary pet or massing large quantites of demons is a nice change that should help keep the master summoner vibe going.
Warlock Dragonflight Talent Tree - First impressions
Overall, the class tree for Demonology is reminiscint of what we currently have where we are able to keep our passive damage reduction through
Vínculo Anímico
but build upon it a bit more while also gaining access to passive increases that we had to choose between previously, like
Conduíte da Alma
and in previous expansions
Grimório de Sinergia
. There are a ton of options to choose from that further make us even more tanky than we already were as well in talents such as
Andarilho do Abismo
,
Fortitude Demoníaca
,
Almas Doces
,
Barganha Profana
and
Abraço Demoníaco
to name a few.
Based on the current talent tree for most cases this is the general tree I would follow:
View in Dragonflight Talent Calculator
You will get to pick up all the major damage reducing talents with this route along with all the nodes that increase your (or your pets) damage;
Inspiração Demoníaca
,
Lacaio Irascível
,
Grimório de Sinergia
,
Conduíte da Alma
and
Evocar Porta-almas
or
Olhar do Inquisidor
(which ever comes out on top in terms of overall simming). The only talents you don't get with this tree that is a passive damage reduction/bonus to your survivability are
Barreira Resoluta
and
Resistência Demoníaca
which in the grand scheme of things is very worth it for everything else you get to pick up.
There is also likely some situational talents you can take in favour of some optional points like
Passada Malévola
that can be shuffled into other utility points like
Amplificar Maldição
and
Ensinamentos dos Sátiros
for a 90% cast speed reduction with
Maldição de Línguas
for example.
You get to keep all your old movement toolkit with
Círculo Demoníaco
,
Portal Demoníaco
,
Impulso Ardente
along with having access to
Queimadura Anímica
to empower them when needed, except Burning Rush which has its own empowerment through
Passada Malévola
.

Demonology Dragonflight Talents - What's New?
Through the first portion of our new talent tree you will see a majority of options that are familiar to you and actually only 2 new abilities for you to play around with:
Vileza e Aço
- A nice passive buff to Felstorm and Dreadbite. Considering there is a high likelihood of you taking
Estratagema do Mestre de Matilha
,
Açoite Pavoroso
and
Espreitadores Carnívoros
in your base build increasing the damage of an ability that is likely to hit multiple times per Dreadstalker is not bad. Felstorm is also something you're consistently hitting and especially in AoE scenarios does significant damage (this talent also increases the damage from the Felstorm of
Força Demoníaca
as well).
Poder Vil
- Similar to the previous talent making Felstorm more available is a good thing.
In the middle tier of talents is where we get a number of new (or returning) abilities from previous iterations of Demonology:
Cisão Vil
- If you are persuing the more Felguard oriented build you can have very high uptime of this debuff between your pets regular Felstorm (35s cooldown) and
Força Demoníaca
since both apply the debuff if you stagger them properly this debuff will be active for a generous amount of time.
Canazes da Guerra
- Having the ability to reset your Dreadstalkers and reapply
Estratagema do Mestre de Matilha
will be good, mostly prelevant if you are in a more AoE centric environment where having high uptime of From the Shadows to build damage off of through your Shadowflame abilities (
Seta Demoníaca
,
Implosão
,
Mão de Gul'dan
) will be strong.
Maldição Final de Kazaak
- The return of an old legendary effect comes at a weird time for Demonology as we have no way of easily applying
Ruína
en masse this talent feels awkward and out of place with our toolkit.
Chefe da Gangue dos Diabretes
- The Imp Gang Boss is essentially like our Sepulcher 4 piece tier bonus of Malicious Imp with some extra added flair if used in an AoE centered build.
Diabretes do Vínculo Sanguíneo
- Giving us more Demonic Cores is never something anyone is going to have issues with, this talent basicaly makes your
Implosão
a Soul Shard generator to an extent since each Demonic Core gives us two Soul Shards.
The final tier of talents is where we really come into a number of new talents and abilities that take us down certain paths of damage profiles:
Armamentos Antoranos
- Further solidifies the right side of the talent tree as your Felguard's playground giving it more cleave with
Golpear Alma
if taken earlier and just more overall damage.
Comando Infernal
- Passive damage increase to your other more common demon summons giving even more power to your Felguard's presence.
Guilhotina
- Another big source of AoE Shadowflame damage that would be buffed by
Estratagema do Mestre de Matilha
and empowers your Felguard's attacks to AoE even faster. Currently your Felguard does full damage without its weapon and attacks 50% faster though this may not be working fully as intended, or at least you'd think so if you started attacking without your weapon there would be
some
kind of damage loss.
Os Descartáveis
- One of the more underlook talents we are getting back from the Legion Artifact - given how many Wild Imps we go through during an encounter your Felguard should have this buff up all the time and
all
your other demons getting some benefit from it throughout the encounter is very strong.
- The rework of
Consumição Demoníaca
that everyone was hoping for in effect should be a much easier talent to manage while outputting similar (or better) strength. Since Demonic Consumption relied on having as much health on your demons as possible there were definitely opportunities where you couldn't rely on having all the externals available or where you would need to manage those externals around your cooldown. The rework allows you to simply look at your total demon count and hit
Evocar Tirano Demoníaco
for the best bang for your buck. It's a major quality of life improvement and shifts the power all to your own decision making instead of others deciding (or your raid leader moving things around to accomodate you).
Poder Roubado
- I'm not sure the application of this talent will be what Blizzard is hoping it to be since Demonbolt/Shadow Bolt, overall, are not a major/significant source of damage making it hit two times as hard every 100 Firebolt casts (roughly every 6 casts of Hand of Gul'dan) is extremely underwhelming. One of the Legion Artifact talents that should have remained an artifact.
Vontade de Ner'zhul
- This talent is kind of just a bandaid fix for
Portal Etéreo
but instead of it reliably summoning extra demons per Soul Shard spent it is just down to RNG. Of course this talent will help justify not altering to a build one Soul Shard, spend one Soul Shard rotation since it activates per Soul Shard spent the proc chance (4% at max rank) is very low and may not change the build/spend phase during Nether Portal at all. I think there needs to be further iteration on this talent, even if it completely alters Nether Portal from "Every time you spend Soul Shard" to
just be
"Per Soul Shard Spent you summon an extra demon".
Ambição de Gul'dan
- Unfortunately for our last comment on
Vontade de Ner'zhul
this talent basically re-enforces the desire to change our rotation into the build one Soul Shard, spend one Soul Shard style (at least for 10 Soul Shards since we are on a limited window of time with
Portal Etéreo
) to get max power out of our new friend. If Ner'zhul's Volition or Nether Portal ends up changing getting maximum value from our Pit Lord will be easily accomplished without any modification to our playstyle and would be a welcome addition to our army of Demons. This talent also currently either does not work and/or the tuning of the Pit Lord is very subpar as it currently stands they deal pitiful damage.
Demonology Dragonflight Talent Tree Builds - First Impressions
There are a number of neat builds that people have been playing around with and experimenting with. I'll outline some of my favourite builds so far after playing with them on the Dragonflight Alpha that I think will have some potential.
Tyrant Single Target
Some iteration of this flow from our spec tree will be the more standard/typical single target build that we are used to playing throughout Shadowlands and should essentially function the exact same way but with more cooldown oriented AoE with
Guilhotina
vs what we are used to having (on demand Aoe) with
Implosão
.

Zoo' Portal
Our goal with this build is to give us as many demons as possible to
siphon health from
stack Demonic Servitude with to empower
Evocar Tirano Demoníaco
. We're taking any talent that can summon demons; either guaranteed like
Grimório: Guarda Vil
,
Evocar Diabo Vil
or the passive Wild Imp from
Demônios Interiores
,
Portal Etéreo
and
Ambição de Gul'dan
or through RNG from
Demônios Interiores
,
Vontade de Ner'zhul
and
Chefe da Gangue dos Diabretes
.
You can also take
Signo de Evocação Superior do Walfrido
as a capstone talent instead and get big time cooldown reduction every Nether Portal cycle since you are summoning so many extra demons.

Zoo' Felguard
With this set of talents you are more focused on general AoE as a whole with some single target sprinkled in. You pick up all the major AoE nodes with
Implosão
,
Pacto da Mãe dos Diabretes
,
Guilhotina
,
Estratagema do Mestre de Matilha
,
Açoite Pavoroso
and
Espreitadores Carnívoros
while having the ability to extend your army of Wild Imps through
Evocar Tirano Demoníaco
for large AoE packs to Implode on and to give yourself some extended single target damage.

Hold This For Me
This build is fully centered around increasing your Felguard's damage and it buffing yourself/your demons while still having the powerhouse
Evocar Tirano Demoníaco
we all know and love. You're bringing multiple ways to increase Shadowflame damage, Dreadstalker damage and Felguard damage. It is kind of a hybrid build in the sense that you could also move points out of
Os Descartáveis
and
Chamado Medonho
and move into
Implosão
which would move more into AoE and out of single target.
View in Dragonflight Talent Calculator
Imp's Doom
This build is generally centered around your Wild Imps and personal power. You pick up majority of nodes that increase your absolute single target power but does suffer from having basically any AoE outside of passive splash from Hand of Gul'dan. It is the only build I'm highlighting that takes
Ruína
which combined with
Maldição Final de Kazaak
and how many Imps you'll be generating should see a sizeable increase of damage.
The more AoE centered version of this build would see you drop the points out of
Pacto Vil
and put them into
Implosão
and
Açoite Pavoroso
.
View in Dragonflight Talent Calculator
Big Bolt
With
Seta Dizimadora
no longer being available in the class tree this build is much more lackluster but may still be an option to play if you were really invested in having a lot of single target damage from
Seta Demoníaca
. Something to note is that you could likely look at
Sifão de Poder
as being interchangeable with
Grimório: Guarda Vil
and you could also interchange
with
Signo de Evocação Superior do Walfrido
to have even more demons to draw power from with
Almas Sacrificadas
.

Conclusion
There is a lot to be excited about for Demonology as they continue to iterate on the talents we have currently and there is sure to be more work done on them. Overall Demonology has I think one of the best balanced layouts out of the Warlock specs and maybe out of all specs. There is a lot of variation in our builds even moving just one or two nodes which makes the tree very versatile and fluid.
Some things I would like to see changed however is to make
Implosão
more centralized as it is in a weird spot surrounded by single target talents and for them to make
Ruína
applicable in AoE through the old Hand of Doom (applied Doom to anything hit by Hand of Gul'dan) from Legion tacked onto
Maldição Final de Kazaak
in some capacity, so it actually feels like a useable set of talents as currently playing Doom (and by extension Kazaak's Final Curse) is very awkward. There is a bunch of things Demonology will still excel at going into Dragonflight and I am excited to see where everything pans out in the long run since there are even more builds out there that people are playing with that further iterate on our wacky and special playstyle.
