Do u get access to covenant callings with threads of fate?
So happy for the. Did not like going thru old story content when my main does it.
Levelling through Herbalism/Mining on an alt, I've made around 4 tokens worth of gold levelling to 57. It's a bit slower, but the high material prices and low token prices this early on definitely makes it worth doing at this point in the expansion, if you want gold, gametime, or bnet balance.
I finished a DH today using ToF and it did feel slower, though mainly because I did WQ's and BO's rather than side quests mostly, and they felt like such a slog to do. Getting them up any reasonable % was painful even being able to pull big and AoE as vengeance...BG's were shockingly low exp, even the couple we actually won
As time goes on and we have more anima to catch on the better this may become. Later on with heirlooms about a year from now threads will be a more obvious choice. I also enjoy playing tanks so this is a nice way for me to level, it is good that it is about even now it being balanced means this might be a feature that sticks around.
I found it faster, aside from bonus objectives taking way to long
For the average player leveling through the campaign or threads of fate is about the same. For those that know what to do, threads of fate is actually faster since you have your best covenant abilities which speed up the killing of mobs and you get better gear which also speeds up the killing of mobs(unless you are already geared from BfA), BUT it's more tedious in my opinion. For example on the beta I leveled with threads of fate more than 1 hour faster, but it felt slower. It's just not enjoyable.
Hopefully they'll adjust the experience in Threads of Fate to be closer to replaying the campaign. I'm still going to play the campaign on some chars just to get to test the Covenant abilities properly.
Pro: Can completely skip Maldraxxus
Can always talk to the fate broker later on and change from story -> fate mode later. (tho not reverse, cannot go from fate to story) so starting alts in story mode then changing to fate would be faster.
I wasn't ready to pull the trigger on ToF on my alt, was just getting him to Oribos for professions. I'm curious if there is a level block to switch it over to ToF. You could seemingly do the campaign until whatever level you wanted, then switch to ToF for the rest. Just curious.
If you focus on Dungeons/WQs/Side quests, I'd say Threads end up being either on par with Campaign, or even faster. It's just that bonus objectives are utterly horrible, so if you don't know to skip them, you will end up wasting time.
Sounds like Threads of Fate needs a buff. I had thought you could immediately start on the endgame covenant content including renown, soulbinds, building your sanctum, torghast. Honestly level increases are completely unnecessary and should not be included in future expansions. Give us a full campaign like we have in SL to unlock endgame and once that is completed your entire account at max level has full access to all endgame activities. Since endgame now is locked behind completing the Shadowlands campaign regardless of when you level to 60 all levels serve to do is slow down alts. For the current system I really hope that Blizzard dramatically buffs the secondary leveling track so if you want to jump right in and get your alts to endgame you can do that. For now I think I will take some alts through the main campaign so I can try out the different covenant abilities.
I don't care that it's slower, much less burnout from doing the storyline over and over and over and over. I'm very excited for it on my alts.
I still think it's a good system that could maybe be tweaked to always be at least on par with blazing campaign runs. Because you can really gain a lot from leveling with professions and the variety it presents to not become as dull is just good. If you feel like smashing dungeons at some point you can do that. And if you just run quests/world quests etc. you still get ahead on rep compared to if you were just doing the campaign which awards no rep. All in all I haven't tried it, but it seems like a good addition.
World Quests are 5%, not 4%.
Thanks for the heads up! Very handy to know the options as I deliberately didn't push through beta (I did have a peek at a few things) as I wanted to take my time and explore live. I've found that levelling my first character (level 57 at the moment) has been pretty quick, in my opinion that is, with the exception of the dreaded lag that comes from nowhere.
Should make it known you can, and should, go around to all the zones to start the bars/accept dungeon quests as soon as you reach oribos.
I don't care if it's slower, there's no way I'll be able to push multiple characters through the god-awful story they came up with for this expansion. ToF is the only thing that's gonna make alts viable for me.
