Restoration Shaman's Mana Tide Totem No Longer Stacks Multiplicatively in Shadowlands
criado

Previously, Restoration Shaman's Mana Tide Totem would stack multiplicatively when dropped with others, making the value of the Totem increase with more dropped Mana Tides. However, this Shadowlands Beta build has changed the interaction and Mana Tide Totems now stack additively, making the Totem the same value no matter how many Restoration Shamans were in the raid.

Mana Tide Totem used to stack multiplicatively, which means that if one totem doubles your mana regeneration, using two of them at the same time doubles that again. This enabled the possibility of using 4 Shamans to fully top everyone’s mana pool every 3 minutes (4 Mana Tide Totems provide you with 51200 mana on a 50000 mana pool at level 60) – which is hilariously broken of course.

Totem de Vagalhão de Mana
would have been really hard to balance with it stacking multiplicatively, as the value of Mana Tide could either be almost worthless with only 1 dropped, or giving too much mana with multiple dropped. This will likely impact Mythic Raid the most, as bringing multiple Restoration Shamans would prevent any mana problems throughout the encounter in the past. Now with this change, healers will have to watch their mana and while bringing multiple Restoration Shaman does increase your mana returns, it doesn't scale out of control.

The only reason you would resto shaman is for spirit link, change my minds :P
Top healers in my guild are two resto shamans. We want them in our raid because they know how to manage their mana, their CDs and because they know their class, not because they bring a nice raid CD.
But do you bring them because they are top players, or because they are resto shamans? What if they were to play a different healing spec at equal skill, would that be better, or worse?
Good players are better then bad players, always. The question isn't between those. Its between specs when players of similar skill play them.
You're right good players are better than bad players, but why put the effort to level every class to just heal 1% better on the "meters?". Just because someone is good doesn't mean they also have infinite time to level and gear multiple characters, besides the person you quoted has not said if they are a heroic raider (or normal), a mythic raider, a cutting edge raider, or a world first contender (or hopeful to be one). If you ain't the latter, what class you play really doesn't matter now does it? All those 40 tank videos clearing raids, mmm. Also if you're just doing heroic, is the time to re-gear worth the ease of clearing some bosses - usually last couple/half in a raid? Answer is no to me and I have that time if I were to roll healer.
On topic, glad something like this got fixed although shame shamans didn't get something added to the totem to compensate for the change. I guess people can rest easy, 5 Mana Tide totems refilling healers mana every 3 minutes in battlegrounds / world pvp. I see no application where this is useful anywhere else except maybe future raid bosses that will have a passive resource drain? Either way, I'm sure running a couple more shamans will offset that, just like how holy paladins were used in Eternal Palace for their utility toolkits was it?
