I hope that they get it all figured out before the expansion launches. It would be a shame if the boars in Elwynn Forest had to be slaughtered on a massive scale so that people could hit level 60.
I think that it's more important to show the numbers before the hotfix with massive reductions which was only done to ensure people were hitting cap while they figure out better experience rates. Otherwise this looks like it's making it longer, but the numbers they are increasing from were only there to give people a temporary boost while they worked on it. For reference without having to click another article:50: 178215 > 19403051: 205775 > 21287052: 238935 > 22577053: 272185 > 24025554: 307435 > 25518055: 344730 > 27279556: 384120 > 29149557: 425665 > 31149058: 469405 > 33216559: 515400 > 353410
Wait it went up again or is this including the previous increase? I was level 57 before the previous increase and when I logged back in I was level 58. That was at the very point of meeting Sire Den in Raven. I turn completed Raven and hit 60 about 3 quests before the finale. If it goes up more I think people will quickly out level the story of the zone.
Early levels are easier, later levels are harder. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cwQ5TaqTnAE4xV3-r4u3-qzdvXq6_OhfXCkxqDB_vV8/edit?usp=sharing
It is far from trivial to do all the quests and still not be 60 and left unable to continue.
When you run your first character through -- when you're doing the quests in story mode (as opposed to the Threads of Fate method available for alts after you have a level 60) -- zones and quests do not scale. At level 54 in Bastion, I had green quests that had a massive drop in the XP they would have awarded at 53.They trashed XP on August 19. I joined beta on August 20. I leveled my first character without warmode, doing mostly story quests (some zones weren't properly marked, so I wasn't sure what was story vs. side quests), without dungeons, with supplemental XP from herbing and mining.I was 56 when I first hit Revendreth, and back then, quest rewards had a minimum level of 57. Realizing I was too low, I went back to Bastion and discovered quests had gone green. Maldraxxus quests were also too low to be worth my effort. I had barely any quests left in Ardenweald, but I managed to scrape my way to 57 and went back to Revendreth. After doing every quest possible, I was only 58.8 -- I basically got 1.8 levels in Revendreth. So we have zones that don't scale, except they DO scale when you're on Threads of Fate or at level 60, which makes the "I want to steamroll early zones so I feel like I've become more powerful!" people sound a little ridiculous. What are they going to do? Stop XP gains at 59 so they can own mobs in Bastion?Because of this scaling, everything is out of balance. It also doesn't help that side quests give more XP that story quests, but they distinguish story quests so you're tempted to skip the non-story ones thinking they're optional. There are also very, very few bonus objectives, and there are some quests where you get no XP at all for killing any of the mobs that you fight (or where XP is still inconsistently awarded for some mobs but not for others). Also, the first time I leveled, I made it through the end scenario before I ran into the gray ! over a certain character's head in Revendreth. This time, the level 60 requirement happened well before the scenario, so I didn't even have access to what little XP I could've gotten from the lead-up quests and the scenario itself. Why Blizzard would increase XP requirements, I have no idea, because XP is definitely a problem, unless you're Alliance, playing with warmode, chain-running dungeons as you level doing every quest you come across.
I was hoping to skip side quests on main character so I could instead do them on alts while doing Threads of Fate to give a more varied leveling experience, but whatevs.
every since they added in the xp bonus for WM and that system, they really have ran themselves into a corner. It makes this way harder to balance, when most people are going to be using that 20% or even 30% bonus. Then you have the dungeon grinders, who skip most quests altogether. So I can see this being pretty hard to blanket adjust. They cant really remove the xp bonus, but those that dont use it are at a big disadvantage. So I guess they just keep upping and lowering it till they get it right. I personally hope they keep it on the faster side for once. BFA was a questing slog, having to do most of the 4 zones completely to make it to max level. This is how it should be. But it took quite a bit of time, and questing burnout those first few days was real.
What is this divisor?
START working on the actual problems ,
Wouldn't it be easier to decrease exp needed/increase exp gained in the final zone based on which level you are when you enter revendreth? instead of tuning it up and down every other week? That way people could do side quest if they wanted to, or just stick to the mandatory campaign if they wanted to level up quicker. I really dont see the downside here, but also not sure how hard that would be to implement. im no dev :P
