He most likely would've ended up in Revendreth to atone for his sins. His actions weren't really 'his own' to a degree.
Frostmourne Hungers.
I didn't read because honestly I don't care about anything related to retail, but is the implication that Uther's soul was split in two? Like did his righteous part was trapped inside Frostmourne and the part of him filled with despair went to Bastion? Or did Blizzard just forget how their lore worked and sent him to the Shadowlands before Arthas was even defeated?
I notice another parallel here... between how the Mall is rapresented and the circle of the star/Nzoth eye was rapresented as well in Warbringers: Azshara. But I have a question... How can Odyn get his mini Bastion replica? The vrikul souls must be sent to the Arbitrer as well... how can have all that souls per se?
Sylvanas' actions have no justification, period. Arthas was influenced by the helm and the sword. His motivation has been to save his people, while Sylvanas is all about herself.
One thing to add is that souls carry Anima and, by all accounts, Arthas's soul must've had a huge amount of it. We also know most souls go to Revendreth to repent, and that only the most vile souls of all creation are sent straight to the Maw.But in its infinite wisdom, could the Arbiter not know that an unrepentent soul sent to Revendreth would then just end up in the Maw ? If so, why not send them straight to it in the first place ?Why ?Maybe the most vile of souls are sent to the Maw for fear that their malevolence could corrupt the Shadowlands, or overpower the Venthyr ? Also, we've learned that the Venthyr suck most of the anima out of unrepentant souls, leaving them as husks to be cast down into the Maw.Think about it. In the Shadowlands, Anima is power. If an anima-rich soul deserves the Maw, you'd better get rid of its power before feeding it to the enemy of all Shadowlands. I think that's the actual main reason for the Venthyr's existence. Depriving the Maw of anima. But in this short, we see Uther and Devos bypass the Arbiter's judgement. A powerful soul - one that was already touched by the Maw - is sent directly to it without judgement, without due process, and with all its delicious anima. So... maybe Arthas would've deserved Revendreth ? Not for a shot at redemption, but to be deprived of anima before being cast in Hell. In that regard, what Uther did was indeed not righteous justice, but blind vengeance. And maybe... Arthas's anima was the adrenaline shot the Jailer needed to gain back some of his power, and start setting his plan into motion.
"As a neat side-note surrounding his death, Arthas' final line of "I see...only darkness..." was generally interpreted to refer to a bleak afterlife symbolizing his horrible deeds, but after seeing the cinematic, it could literally refer to Devos clouding his vision with her dark wings and hands."Nothing is safe in the Shadowlands, be it long dead characters or well written stories. But hey if you like this sort of revelation, I could name you some great trash movies to enjoy.
