Lots of talk on the covenant system here. TBH, I'm pretty... cautious of the system. I think it has a lot of neat ideas but I still think it's WAY too much of a package deal. I'm not going to go in full details because I'm tired of repeating the same thing but to me, the covenant has too much cramped into it. You're going to be torn in choosing your new ability. Which right there is a problem because there might be a fun choice and a better choice for content. At this moment, you can say "Choose what you find fun not what is stronger" and that would be correct. Problems are: 1: Blizzard doesn't have good track record and making things balanced. and 2: There is a whole lot more than just that. You're also choosing which non DPS ability you're getting. You're also choosing which soulbind abilities you're getting. You're also choosing what armor set you're getting. You're also choosing what mount you're getting. You're also choosing which legendaries you're getting. You're also choosing which back thingy you're getting. You're also choosing other things I'm forgetting about. It becomes this big decision which you should decide by which covenant you like overall but when you care about a lot more than juste 1 aspect of the game, it gets tough. IE, lore wise I prefer the Night Fae. Lore wise I hate the Kyrian. Thing is, the Kyrian mail set is pretty darn cool and perhaps cooler than the night fae. The other covenants also have very cool sets. I want them all. I like to collect sets, but I'm not going to be able to. At this point, nobody really knows what it's going to be like. Which will be better / more fun... It's just a whole lot of consequences riding on 1 choice which they don't want you to change all the time. At least I got a lots of alts so I'll be able to at least try all covenants. But I got the impression that a Kyrian Enh sham is going to be pretty different from a necrolord enh sham... And I'm really not going to make 4 enh shams just to access all the possible gameplays, let alone do this for my favourite alts. That's my concern with the covenants. There is just way too much riding onto that 1 choice. I hated the scryer VS aldor choice and it wasn't even an important choice. I never even did their %^&* to exalted. Now I gotta choose between 4 of them... and that choice is going to be important only for 1 expansion. Some compared it to choosing a class or spec but it's not even remotely similar. You can create another class and experience a totally different thing. They made specs accessible because it was pretty ridiculous to have 3 of the same. Now you got covenant that won't change enough to warrant making a whole new character but enough for you to want to play them all.
