To be clear here, ClassicLFG will still work and this will most likely start a cat and mouse game between Blizzard and AddOn devs. Instead of trying to communicate, classic @WarcraftDevs once again chose to ignore our request for open dialog.https://t.co/iB40hfzltP— WeakAuras (@WeakAuras) August 24, 2019

A very good and thorough article, with an interesting perspective.
Social interaction is what made the Vanilla experience memorable. If we want to just press a button and auto join groups we'd play the single player retail failure. Thanks for getting rid of this garbage and unnecessary addon.
Retail and Classic are two different games and I am very glad Blizzard has given us the chance to have both. I have missed the community aspect in retail so much. Please people do not try and make classic into a version that retail is. Yes I will miss certain aspects of retail like transmogs, pet battles, etc. But these are totally different games. I couldn't have said it any better than Cheeseit, community is what classic is about and I can't wait. Community and friendships will always be a better experience.See you all soon and safe journeys friends.
What? Why? I actually like that we do not have group finder in Vanilla.
This totally defeats one of the points of Classic which was community and interaction. I hope they keep any LFG addon out of the game. If you want LFG, you know where to go.
If all the addon did was TBC-style listing your name (and class, I think?) as interested in a dungeon then it wouldn’t be too bad, and I’m not sure they would have nixed it. But that’s not all the addon did. Anything that allows for automated invites is very much not in the spirit of Classic (or TBC, or most of WotLK - heck, a fair chunk of Mists of Pandaria still relied on manual-invites-only, server-based groups for World Bosses), and I think that Blizzard’s early statement was quite clear on that.I’m sorry that the addon dev wasted their time, and I can understand that devs making addons for Classic might be frustrated with the overall lack of information on what is acceptable (although, again, I think that Blizzard was quite clear about LFG addons), but I’m also very unhappy at WeakAuras’ tweet implying that they and other devs would deliberately try to circumvent Blizzard’s rules. Not only is it kind of petty, it potentially risks allowed addons by possibly having parts of the API that they rely on changed or removed.
@SeleriHowever, the “deliberately removed from Classic” bit narrows it down considerably. They never added any RP functionality or much in the way of guild functionality to remove, and so far as I’m aware custom global chat channels were in the whole time. The only thing it could refer to, in my view, is automated group-making.
if you hate classic, go back to retail. simple.or maybe, you can try the rules of the game and see is easy to make friends and live real adventures!
I hope classic lfg will survive. Such a wonderful addon that fixes one of the most boring aspects of this game. Best wishes to the dev team!
I wonder, what else should be done to return True™ Classic™ Spirit™.Restrict game resolution to 1024x768?Restrict internet connection to 56kb/s (that would help to solve "unfair using of wowhead" problem too)?
Gaming culture values optimisation so highly that many gamers will do things they actively hate in order to obtain even marginal gains.Because automated group addons make creating groups *faster* they are considered optimal, and people will use them when they don’t want to. Even if it’s bad for the overall health of the game and their own enjoyment.Worse, once that hits a critical mass of players, those who did resist the optimal-urge will be forced to join in or fail to get groups at all, and the addon becomes mandatory... and alienating to any new player who doesn’t know they need it.
I read the entire article and all I could think of was "personal opinion" or actually "personal assumptions why today is different from yesterday". Communication and players' attitude have nothing to do with an addon or the LFG blizzard tool. It's all about information. What made people communicate during vanilla was the lack of it. I remember myself asking information about talents, builds, specc, farming , best dungeons to farm, best gear to get, quest locations all sort of things. The lack of information leads to communication. This does not exist today. I can simply go to wowhead, and if I don't , I am not competitive enough to secure a spot in either a guild or a group. People will still kick someone who doesn't know to play, just because it is simple to actually learn how to play! Wowhead has flooded us with tons of guides nearing the release to make us competent. And just like someone else mentioned, communication starts mainly inside the dungeon, when you need to explain tacts , or make your strategy , the path. But classic today will be like "go check that guide, brb bio" . As for the communication before a dungeon... it's limited to "lfm dps" /w hey me , /r know what to do? /r oh yes, so easy /inv -name-. Then a hey in /p and that's all. Communication today is mainly part of achievement runs and guilds , or runs with friends. If you think communication does not exist today , you are wrong, or you are simply seeking it where it is not needed to exist due to the simplicity. Classic is a no go without a guild, you will simply be stuck at dungeons like this. Respectively, today , mythic is a no go without a guild (at least up to the point of it being added to lfg) and that's where the communication exists. All in all, the "Spirit of Classic WoW" , is the lack of information, that you seek through communication, and the way things are today, this can't be brought back, and those who choose to avoid information, will lose in competition.
I think the autoinvite is overkill and I wouldn't use that feature. Is the addon legit? yeah, people got insanely better at developing addons, I just hope they don't break the API, maybe it's time to add versions to Classic with the patches that will be deployed so the people are aware of the changes (yes, changes) and fixes.
