I was wondering when blizzard was going to flip the switch on their money making machine and start throwing Japan some love.
Geeze, some people I guess. If you've ever been involved with philanthropy, you'd realize that the best campaigns to help support a great cause ... end up incentivizing people. For example, what do you think a charity ball or auction is? Ohh, I get this great dinner and time to socialize with close friends, and then end up dropping a ridiculous amount of money on the cost of the dinner, as well as any other donation. In a "perfect world", people would just donate the money to an incredibly efficient charity relief organization. However, we don't live in that world. If Blizzard wants to give away some pixels to incentivize others to help out ... fantastic!I hope that's what this is for, what a great idea.

oh man that looks awesome! im so gonna get that!
Will definitely be getting it. I loved the sparkle pony when I got it and this looks tons better. If it goes to Japan, that'd be cool, don't really care where my money goes as long as I get cool stuff out of it.
Not into buying these kinda stuff, but maybe tempted by donations maybe....
Micro payments in a sub game... this is why i left Wowserver transfers should NEVER BE A PAY SERVICE IT IS A MICRO PAYMENT and its automated so blizzard needs to stop with this pointless nonescence.I am against paying for micro payment shop items if there is a sub fee, in games like Leauge of Legends i am MORE then open to buy stuff as long as it isnt power boosts then im fine with it. Also it supports the company(riot) who otherwise give away a free game with bi weekly patches.
Why is this a big deal?If you have money to burn and want it, buy it. Otherwise, don't. The winged lion, as far as I know, does not confer any benefits to the rider.
I personally think there's another mount that would make more sense to be sold for Japan Relief: Epicus Maximus(Not meant to be offensive btw. I've got family in Japan going through hell right now, but I know they'd get a kick out of hearing a dinosaur riding a shark with lasers was being sold to fund relief efforts. ^^)
I'm honestly fascinated at how this is creating such rift of morality between people. Interesting to observe.Someone earlier here had a fantastic point. I honestly see this entire debate dwindling down to two motivations for giving.Sorry people, but this is the way the real world works. Additionally, those who are creating such an "outcry" against those that would buy this mount for charity purposes, would necessarily have to be opposed to any sort of charity gala, ball, auction, or other event. If you believe that those are "just" but this mount buying is "unjust", then I would charge you to simply send a check (or online payment) to the charity of your choice the next time they hold any of the aforementioned events.Real world charitable organizations exist off of just that. You create an event or a product that get's people's interest, and use it to benefit charity. Start looking around the world ... you might want to go tell off all of the people who buy those Lance Armstrong, or breast cancer wristbands.
I am just going to make a point here, for all of the people who are up in arms about the "selfish" people who should be donating directly rather than buying an item where only part of the proceeds fo to the charity (if that even in fact happens, since this is all speculation). Did it ever occur to you that these kinds of things don't exist to convince people to donate to a cause they otherwise would have ignored- they exist to direct money someone ALREADY WOULD HAVE SPENT to a charitable organization. When you buy a yogurt with the pink ribbon lid, and part of the proceeds go to breast cancer, are you being a selfish jerk for "needing a yogurt to be convinced to donate", or is it just nice that something you were going to buy anyway will now help out a good cause? I think we all know, after watching the parades of sparkle ponies run rampant through the streets of Dalaran, that regardless of whether or not part of the proceeds go to anyone other than Blizzard, thousands and thousands of these will be sold. The majority of those who will buy this will do so regardless of where the money goes- only a small percentage of people will actually make the choice solely on whether or not a charity is involved. Of course, companies who do things like that get back more than they give away in good publicity, tax write-offs, and the marginal number of extra sales that they get from advertising their product in conjunction with a charity, so it's not like they lose too much or are completely humanitarian in this- it IS a business decision. But partnerships like these do allow charities to generate more funds than they would have otherwise, and people with an actual interest in the charity are not buying toys instead of donating- If anything, they're doing both. Something like this would, at the most, just serve to divert some extra cash, which would already have been spent on the product, to the charity.
Not bad. Though the idea of having micro-transactions in a game we pay subscriptions for is completely stupid. Even if it is for Japan. Also, you forgot the ™ after Soon. I expect better from you Miyari. srsly.
