Why do people listen to this guy? I find him to be arrogant, stubborn, annoying, and a little misguided.

I use W & S for forward/back. A&D for strafing. Mouse for targeting & movement. My main actions are all done with the mouse wheel. Wheel up/down/click gives me 3 actions. Shift and ctrl turn this into 9.
I actually have to keyboard turn. If I switched to mouse turning I think my guild would kill me as it would actually be much worse. But it's an odd situation so let me explain!I have fairly severe Tourette's Syndrome. I was not lucky enough to have the severity drop significantly as puberty ended (adults with severe TS are rare) -- oh well. I tic a lot; that is, I make a lot of involuntary, jerky movements. Yes, I look like an idiot out grocery shopping or whatever, and yes, people sometimes think I'm on drugs (figure out what impact this has on a job search). Oh, and yes, sometimes those movements hurt like heck, particularly when repeated over and over and over. But anyway. It's difficult to explain why I can't "just stop doing those things" but I'll try to make it make sense. Don't blink for 5 minutes. I don't care what else is going on, do not blink. Eventually, you're going to blink. While you can voluntarily blink, it also eventually happens automatically -- with an urge associated. You can't fight that urge forever, at some point, it has to happen. Ticcing from TS is a lot like that. I can hold it off temporarily, I can make other movements to compensate (for example if my elbow really, really wants to straighten, I can choose what direction I am facing when this happens so I don't punch my husband). But it's going to happen and I can't entirely prevent that -- attempting to for extended periods is something I painfully learned not to do a long time ago. The brain's just all messed up on that account ;)So. One of my issues with a regular mouse is the fact that it has to be constantly held for some applications. I can't use a standard mouse for a game like this, without negatively affecting my performance. Navigating my computer? Programming? No problem, because mousing isn't constant.... I can let my hands/wrists/elbows do their thing then grab the mouse when they're not busy and move on without any thought about it or any significant slowdown. But this game...no. I break mice. My wrist shakes my hand to the side and I knock the mouse clear off the desk and into the wall, or my hand insists on flipping back...requiring me to drop the mouse. Or I pick it up and nonrhythmically, firmly, lift it a little and slam it into the desk over...and over...and over...and over....I need to be able to hover my hands over the keyboard and mouse, and a standard mouse just will not work that way, it must be gripped. My hands are in almost constant motion. With a touchpad, I can either keep doing whatever I need to do while things happen (for instance when my elbow wants to jerk straight I lean back and keep my hands where they need to be), or very quickly get back to it -- grabbing a standard mouse expends time. Touchpads have been the best option for me. With a keyboard + touchpad combo, I can easily manage both my toon and my healing through mouseover macros, without the kinds of breaks in action that occur when I attempt to use a standard mouse. It's not that I don't know how to use a mouse, it's just that I am physically incapable of using it in a consistent way.But have you guys ever tried actually controlling your toon with a touchpad mouse? Holy crap, that's awkward. The two buttons are under the touchpad and while hitting one in conjunction with using the pad is no problem, any situation in which you have to use BOTH buttons almost requires two hands to continue also controlling the pad itself, it's very difficult to contort one's hand in such a way to make it work and it ends up awkward if you can manage it at all - leading to a clumsy toon ;) I've tried. So yes, I keyboard turn. I also am aware that it's not optimal and am accordingly attentive and think ahead and heal proactively - Discipline Raid Heals ftw.TL;DR: Medical reasons.Oh, and no...no coprolalia. If I'm swearing, it's quite deliberate...usually because I slammed my hand into my desk or a wall. Or if somebody suggested that I have no right to play a game if a medical condition makes my performance less than 100% optimal ;) I can move out of fire, guys, don't worry. I know plenty of mouse users who can't stay the same.
