World of Warcraft is 16 years old today! This also marks the 26th anniversary of the entire
Warcraft
franchise, as
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans
released on November 23rd, 1994. While this would usually coincide with an in-game event, this year's
Anniversary event was moved
so that it would not conflict with the release of Shadowlands, and it ended yesterday.
While this means no bonus experience buff for the start of Shadowlands, Pilgrim's Bounty is still running in the first week, which offers a 10% reputation buff through the

World of Warcraft was first released on November 23rd, 2004. While Shadowlands was originally set to launch on October 27th, 2020, it was
delayed by a month
, the first time a World of Warcraft expansion has been delayed since the Burning Crusade.
The Anniversary Event was quite modest this year, with only one new transmog added -
a cloak that looks suspiciously Heart of Azeroth themed
- and no new activities, just those we've seen in previous Anniversary events such as Korrak's Revenge - A special PvP brawl set in old Alterac Valley.
