WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 164th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
Samadan
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
TSM
. I have a number of guides over on
YouTube
and I also stream my adventures on
Twitch
.
More Mailboxes Please!
Some very welcome news this week was the
discovery of more mailboxes in Oribos
which is a wonderful quality of life upgrade for those looking somewhere to park their
Brutosaur
. However, I think they could do with a bit more thought as to the locations especially as of the current 2, only one really gets used.
Look at the areas where you'll find a gold maker and the areas where you can mount and it's easy to see why. The key priorities are easy access to storage, vendor reagents and profession areas while still being able to mount. The red areas on the map are where you cannot mount..
A & B are where the current mailboxes are.
C & D are the new mailboxes added on the PTR
While having one right next to the bank and guild bank is useful, it is not that far from the original. With the current PTR layout you will see a lot of brutosaurs outside the bank.
However, many will spend a lot of time in the Hall of Shapes buying materials, using the anvil and levelling professions. This is where D is somewhat useful, but a little out of the way.
My suggestion is to remove B & C and adding E, F & G. It makes a nice orderly compass pattern. E is close to the bank and half the profession vendors while F is close to the other half. G is simply there for symmetry. If you want, keep B & D. They may be used occasionally, but the core activity is in the centre.
Dalaran is a great example of Mailbox placement, but we don't really need to go that far. Shattrath has some reasonable placement by banks and trainers and is a similar circular pattern.
What do you think? Where would you like your mailboxes?
Making a Million
u/razzah88 shared their strategy in getting 1 million gold
after starting in December ...
Hey! First passed the 1m mark about 10 mins ago, after starting in December with nothing but a maxxed profession and a dream!
Alchemy- the trick is to craft en masse. Here was my strategy...
Flasks, on my server they are regularly reset, and the goblin doing the reset would blanket buy ALL flasks under 700g. So I would wait until herbs hit around 85% to stock up making my rafting cost to just under 500g ( lower if 8 was more patient). This is step 1.
Step 2- learn the most likely reset times, for me this was raid nights (weds Thurs and Sun) let's say raids start at 7pm.
Step 3- I'd use this knowledge, along with my under avg bought herbs, and id craft 300 at a time. I'd then list them at around 4pm, for 695g each ignoring cheapest price, just threw em all in at 695g. Then it's just a waiting game.
Bonus play- if you have the pots, no need to wait, throw em in! 48hrs list, sometimes a reset happens at random!
I noticed that when a flask reset happens, so too do the mats needed to create them, they'd skyrocket to 150%, so Step 1 is of great importance!
I also maxxed JC, and caught then end of the lego rush, I managed to crawl through rank 1-4 necks and rank 1-3 rings by only doing it when I could either break even or profit.
Bonus play- people seem to mess up alot with these, and I'd regularly find a 235 lego for the cost of a 190, I'd scoop these up and resell for a great profit.
Crafters Mark 2 was beautiful! I had so many ores/gems at the ready that I bought for almost nothing! So by the time I hit CM2, my costs for making 168's were barely 200g a pop, I could sell certain rings and necks at 5k a piece, and they sell well enough to keep the cash flowing.
As an added goldmaker, I joined a mythic BoE CN farming community- the concept is simple, join a lockout that has 2/10 killed, run through the masses of trash and hope to get lucky, I made 400k off of 2 items! The leader of this community had it best though- every time a boe dropped, he'd charge a 15k finders fee to the loiter, and if he got one, he'd give 20k to the highest roller... This guy must have millions!
Feasts sell, you can use the flask method for this but you'd have to watch the prices on those.
Other than that, I don't think I did much else to generate the income.
Hope this helps, or at least gives you some ideas!
Well, to be honest I had a blast getting there! I loved the 'Eureka!' moments, example- see my flask method.
But alas, I think I'm pretty wow'ed out for this patch, so my current way of thinking is- unsub until next patch, whilst waiting for said patch I will hopefully scour any information on new mats or raids etc. Then before the patch hits I'll use a token to sub up, and use my money to get some mats together for which I think will sell well come the next raid. So again it'll be flasks, phantom fire, feasts etc as well as preparing for any new recipes they might add.
As far as a new craft goes... IDK yet, I do have a 60 alt with BS, but the lego and CM2 grind have really put me off the idea for now.
One thing is for sure, I'll be back at some point, and I am a hell of a lot more confident that I can fund my sub and maybe even treat myself to some mounts/ blizz games through the AH.
Congratulations razzah88, a million gold is a great achievement and a wonderful psychological milestone. Once you pass that, you know you can make the next million much more easily.
Making Money with Jewelcrafting
u/tomytronics
decided to buy 100,000g worth of Laestrite Ore
to prospect and sell and shared the results...
The ores were dumped at 4-5g rather than the usual 8-10g so I got a lot, 120 stacks worth then prospected them all.
121 Essense of Servitude (average 300g each)
128 Essence of Torment (average 330g each)
110 Essence of Valor (average 475g each)
141 Essense of Rebirth (average 600g each)
3575 Angereyes (average 3g each)
3063 Umbryl (average 5g each)
2754 Oriblase (average 5g each)
Assuming everything sells, that is around 255,200g before AH cut.
I've tried selling cut gems but I got about 50 other JCs who are also selling them and I'd have to cancel and relist roughly every 5 minutes to keep mine up on top to sell. Wasn't worth it even though blue quality cut gems sell for about 50-75g. However there's 2 or 3 raw gem sellers so it's easier to sell raw gems for other JCs who don't want to deal with prospecting for random gem, for leveling up JC, or for other professions like engineering.
This big purchase and mass prospecting will probably be the last time for a while. I predict the price will continue to go down as more players are around, farming bots in between banwaves dumping stuff, and demand diminishes until probably 9.1 with new raid, new gears, and maybe a few new recipes.
I might hoard cheap ore and unsold raw gems until 9.1
Which brings on some interesting discussion as to what to do with Jewelcrafting and ways to make gold..
Been buying 10-20k ore at a time. Prospect it all. Make blue rings for DE with the gems. Made rank 3 and 4 Legos with the essence. Normally double my investment each time. It's just so time consuming. Making 500-1000 blue rings and DE them all takes like an hour or more. I Normally play a game of TFT on one monitor wile scroll DEing on the other.
This is also what I do (bought 10k ore last night). Wait for the respective ores to be cheap and buy them (under ~ 15g) then make rings and DE. 1.4 shards and 1.4 dust per ring. And/or chose where to level my mining alts based on which I need.
If there are lots, I’ll keep about a dozen rings of each flavor on the AH if they’re selling over 200.
The essences can take a little while to move, but usually cover the ore cost with a modest profit. Then all the shards are gravy.
Alchemy Master - Procs and results
DalaGG
has been testing out the older Transmute Mastery and what to do to make gold from the extra 20% proc ...
Hey all,
I have recently been looking into Alchemy master proc rates for gold making, this was to find the proc rates for Potion, Elixir and Transmute Master so this is what I have found.
I decided to craft:
1,000x TrueGold
1,000x Master Healing Potion
500x Flask of the Winds
500x Titanic Strength
This is so If I kept it at 1,000 crafts for each mastery , though Elixir was two 500's equalling in one thousand.
I decided to source all of my mats which was:
Pyrium Bar x3000
Volatile Fire x10000
Volatile Air x10000
Volatile Water x10000
Green Tea Leaf x1000
Volatile Life x8000
Azshara's Veil x4000
Whiptail x4000
Cinderbloom x4000
This equalled in a nice chunk of gold but in my view it was worth it :) I then moved over towards my different Alchemists for each Mastery and started my crafts. This took a good minute in order to craft.
Results:
1,000x TrueGold - 1188 - 18.00%
1,000x Master Healing Potion - 1232 - 23.30%
500x Flask of the Winds 599 - 18.70%
500x Titanic Strength 588
Note:
Flask results were added together to make 1,000 like the others)
Looking at this I found some nice percentages for which mastery crafts what and I was left with proc rates of:
Transmutation Master: 1.18
Potion Master: 1.23
Elixir Master: 1.18
(
Note 2:
These rates are taking into account the initial craft as well, thought It would be easier)
I hope this helps everyone but I have been wanting to know this information for a while so I decided to go ahead and do it. I also did a video on this explaining my process and what else I manged to find out such as when it comes towards vial of the sands crafts.

Any question please feel free too ask :)
Happy Gold Making,
DalaGG ( Jon)
Thanks for sharing these DalaGG. It's something to bear in mind that old world professions still make gold and they can be added to your repertoire as a way to diversify markets.
