has been hard at work creating yet another web app that is extremely useful to gold makers. This time in the form of a blend between the WoW Auction House and

Hey folks. I'm proud to share with you a new web app that I've been working on for the past 5 weeks:
. It's a new take on auction house pricing stats using a familiar (ahem) UI, a responsive layout, and modern technologies throughout.
Its UI and operation are obviously based on the current in-game auction house UI. Since I'm not really a front-end guy, working from an existing design and being confident that folks would be familiar with it was a big help.
Here's an example screenshot of searching for all bags.
The UI is augmented with pricing charts and some extra data here and there. Here's the 2-week pricing history for Netherweave Bags.
You hover over the chart to show a tooltip for the values at that point in time.
Oribos Exchange has some capabilities with which other auction house sites struggle. For example, it's fully aware of item levels and item suffixes, and handles their pricing just like how it works in-game.
Here's a list of cloth chest items with various levels and suffixes
. Once you're looking at a specific item, you can hover over a price in the auction panel to the right to see the full tooltip with all bonuses and optional reagents applied.

Plus, of course,
it handles the crafted legendary item levels without issue
However, sometimes you don't care about the item versions, since you're shopping for transmog and you just want the cheapest thing regardless of level or suffix. No problem. Visit the Filter options, and check "Ignore Varieties" to get the list of items with those attributes grouped together.

You might have noticed a few other interesting options in there. You can filter by expansion, so
your searches will only return Shadowlands items, for example
. This is really handy when you're browsing categories. Another fun filter is
Only Below Vendor Price,
which shows auctions which are posted for prices under the vendor sell price. And yes, its vendor sell prices are accurate. Finally, there's the
Include Out-of-Stock filter
, to show search results for items currently at zero quantity. This is checked by default and helps you find prices for things which may not be posted right now.
Last, some odds and ends. Commodities include a "Bulk Pricing" section to help you determine how much you'd pay for a given quantity of the item. It works similar to the same control in-game. We also show the current prices and quantities from other realms in your region. Connected realms are hidden by default to hide duplicate rows, but you can check it if you're looking for a specific realm name.

Battle pets are supported, too, but
priced separately by breed
. You can use the "Ignore Varieties" filter to ignore breed if you want.
Battle pet tooltips include level and stats
to give you more details on specific auctions.
One more thing:
There's a favorites system
, just like in-game, so you can build out your list of important items. It works a little different to in-game in that it's restricted to the currently selected categories, filters, and search text. Think of it as working exactly like the search button, except with the extra restriction of only showing your favorites. Because that's what it does. If that's not useful in practice, I'm open to making it work more like in-game (which ignores categories and filters) but give it a shot.
After some frustrations with TUJ after the Shadowlands update,
which I already shared with my patrons
, I wanted to start something new with simpler, more accurate pricing, and reflecting the direction the auction house has taken compared to how it was back when TUJ started over a decade ago. TUJ will stick around, and it will have some capabilities (over 2-week history, market notifications, 15% percentile market pricing) and some drawbacks (stepped weapon/armor item level pricing) which I don't plan to bring to Oribos Exchange. If things go well, I'll probably add localization to Oribos Exchange next, along with maybe some professions-related info? We'll see. I look forward to your feedback in this thread,

Best mindset for gold making?

Hello everyone. I'm trying to change my approach to gold making as frankly I'm not doing great. Its slow going for sure. So I wanted to check with you guys and see what you thought. So my question is what is your mindset when you approach gold making? What plans do you have what's your process. I'm not asking for farms or flipping ideas more wondering how you approach gold making as a process.

Have fun with it! Thats really the best advice. Find something you enjoy whether its fishing , skinning,gathering ,professions. I think my first baby step into the gold world a many moons ago in WoD was just downloading and getting tsm working ,for no other reason than just seeing prices and sale rates on items. Here are some goldmaking principles I try to use that have a lot to do with my mentality:
Be positive. There is always gold to be made. Not every market is profitable always, but there are always markets that are profitable, my goal is to just find them.
Don’t tunnel vision on any particular methods. Always be exploring new strategies.
There is always a more efficient operation. Found something that sells? Great. Now find out how to get your materials cheaper. Think you found the cheapest way? Great. Now find a way to produce faster or sell it faster.
Undercuts happen. Don’t stress. Keep selling things as long as it is worth your time. If it no longer becomes worth your time, move onto something that is. Revisit that market when it resets itself.
You have to spend money to make money.
This has been my motto everytime Im doing anything related to gold making. Whether it be spending golds to do flips on the AH, or spending gold to lvl my professions whenever I hesitate I say that motto. Its worth noting that having hundreds of thousands of gold of liquid capital while pretty is also somewhat useless in terms of goldmaking. Having mountains of gold sitting in bank is a waste of resources as that gold could be invested to make more gold. I'd say typically (from a small time goldmakers perspective) you should really only be holding onto 2 tokens worth of gold, or 30% of your total gold assets whichever one is higher.
It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Yes there are people posting here, "I MADE 12 MILLION GOLD IN 3 HOURS", but that's the outlier, not the norm.
Sometimes you'll find a great flip or be the first and make a quick buck. But sometimes you gotta figure out multiple paths to money making, and just work at it.
Be patient and have reasonable expectations. You don't need to make a million gold every day. Most of us never will. Just keep plugging away and those daily gains add up over time.
Have fun. I view it as a mini-game within the game. If you're doing it as a chore or treating it like a job, you're better off shoveling snow or babysitting IRL and using dollars to buy gold.
Your competition isn't the enemy. They're not cheaters or bots or psychopaths. They're regular people just like you trying to get ahead. Don't waste a second of your time being angry or jealous.
To be honest, and to say something different than the other comments...
Gold making requires you to STOP playing the game like other players. It means that you have to do the hard work of watching the AH, farming herbs for hours, 4x2 groups, boosting services, or other methods of earning gold.
While progress in the game can open you up to new areas of gold making, like unlocking the rep to buy a recipe, ultimately you need to make the decision to stop improving your character through quests, rep or gear... and focus on activities which make gold.
Now it is determining that balance of what is right for you if you want to do both;
which ultimately all of us want to have progress in the game. Even if you are farming herbs, ores or skinning... you still want to have legendary gear and other upgrades so that your activities are easier.
I took a different strategy than almost every other goblin. I wanted to start from zero and see how well I could do with almost nothing going into Shadowlands. So the first week of launch I converted all of my liquid gold into Blizzard Cash. I have farmed a lot of my mats significantly limited myself in legendary crafting. I consider this time an investment time so I don't measure my success on how much gold I have; I measure my success in leveling alts and professions... and I currently have all professions except blacksmith and engineering maxed (and I have the materials to do it, just not the desire yet).
I also currently spend almost none of my time at the AH. Since I have the bruto, I can check on my listings any time but I also post from multiple alts so I don't check all my listings that frequently. Often its just once in the morning and several times in the evening.
I know how to do the gold making thing, but right now I have purposely chosen to focus on playing the game as other players do. Does that mean I miss out on some of the gold cap opportunities? Sure... but without end goal like the Bruto, I just don't feel quite as motivated as before to spend 80% to 90% of my time doing gold making activities instead of playing the game. Sure I make decisions which benefit both sides right now, but at the moment I have flipped that balance to 10% to 20% of the time online as doing gold making. And since it takes gold to make gold, I have pretty much zero cash right now but lots of resources.
So back to your question. There are four important aspects which make you successful in gold making, or business in general (RL):
The time you put into it
Your previous experiences... where failure can be more valuable than success
Opportunity / Timing / Luck
You really can't control #3 other than the fact that you will have more opportunities as you spend more time watching the AH.
Businesses related to healthcare supplies really benefited from Covid but live entertainment like music concerts companies are really hurting right now. Similar "events" happen in WoW which shift the entire economy and many of them cannot be anticipated (like the thread price and recipe increase). There will be winners and losers all of the time, even experienced goblins can lose millions of gold because of bad luck or timing. To help soften the risk and the blow that ultimately will come at some point, the best thing to do is to diversify. Try to keep at least 3 distinct markets going.
The key takeaway here being in my opinion is having fun. This is a game with a wealth of challenges and goals you can tailor to your own particular play style.
Changes to UK Gametime Options
As reported earlier
here on Wowhead
, Blizzard have made a change so that those in the UK can only buy game time in 60 day amounts. It used to be 30, 90 and 180, the same as the regular subscription model which remains unchanged.
As part of our regular process, we conduct reviews on the available services in all currencies. Based on this, we have decided to alter the available Game Time options for the British Pound (GBP) in the
. As of today, the Game Time options of 30, 90, and 180 days have been removed and Game Time is only available as a purchase of 60 Days.

Please note that currently, the GBP options and pricing for the purchase of both WoW subscriptions and WoW Tokens will remain unaffected. Also, any Game Time that has already been purchased for an account will not be affected by this.We appreciate that players choose to spend their time with World of Warcraft, and we are committed to ensuring the game continues to provide British players with great entertainment value.If you would like to review your World of Warcraft Game Time and payment method, you can do so through
Blizzard Account Management
at any time.
What does this mean? Well, like the subscription, the most cost effective way of buying game time would be to add to your Blizzard Balance with gold and then buy the game time in 180 day chunks. However, now the only option is 60 days at a price similar to just adding 1 month game time which you have as an option when you first buy a token with gold.
The Gadgetzan Times
has come up with a great website to help with calculating profession profits on your server. What makes this particularly useful is there is no need to put in API keys or the like, simply select your realm and profession and order by Profit Rating.
I previously introduced

here. It's a web application which calculates the profits of crafted items of each profession with real-time auction data using Blizzard World of Warcraft API.
You don't need to provide your TSM key or battle.net API credentials. Just select your language, region and realm to see which recipe is worth to craft.
Best practise hint: Order recipes by profit rating. You just need to click header of Profit Rating column to do this.
I previously got awesome feedbacks (%96 upvoted), and I'd like to announce that I implemented all of the requests.
- Wowhead tooltips and TUJ links are added.
- Legendary item prices issue is fixed.
- Milling profits page is built.
- All languages are available.

For explanation of Profit Rating, 1 = 0 profit, anything over 1 is good, less than one is bad.
It's a nice way to scout out a new profession before you decide to sink your gold into it!
