Our Classic WoW Glossary explains the most common and useful English terms used by players in Classic WoW. New players are especially encouraged to use this guide while trading and finding groups for dungeon or raid content.

The language used in WoW is derived from the larger culture of online chat. General terms like brb, np, and rng will not be documented in this guide, given their ubiquity. Additionally, terms that are not abbreviated or sufficiently identify their referent, like Sap, Ashkandi, or the Hinterlands, are not defined here. Also note that the general term "group" is used in the guide unless the more specific terms "party" or "raid" are necessary.
Keep in mind that language is a living thing and can change unpredictably. For example, there are various spellings for many of the listed terms, capitalization varies wildly, individuals use their own favored terminology, and certain terms evolve only in certain realms, factions, and guilds. This guide will be continuously updated to reflect the common language of Classic players. If you don't see any common and useful terms that you use, feel free to mention them in the comments to help complete this document and keep it up to date.
There are so many possible slang terms that for ease of navigation, we've organized the glossary by topic, including:
Combat

Characters and Players
Trade and Professions
Stats and Gear
Groups, Guilds, and Loot
Abilities and Talents
Outdoor Locations

Raids
