The Weekly Mythic+ Chest Can Drop Corrupted Weapons on the 8.3 PTR
04/12/2019 em 00:34
We decided to test out the Weekly Mythic+ Chest on the PTR and happened to get a Corrupted Mechagon Weapon. Details are still unclear about how this works; the Corrupted Weapon effects could randomly roll on Mythic+ cache weapons, or maybe any non-Corrupted Weapon can occasionally roll a Corrupted Weapon effect but this seems like good news for Mythic+ players!
We've tested more and found that their weapon effects have multiple tiers and can roll on anything from Mythic+ cache.
Mechagon Sword with a Raid Dagger Effect
We opened a +15 Weekly Cache on the PTR, and got a Corrupted Weapon
Lâmina de Dentesserra Rasgadora
which originates from Operation: Mechagon. However, the Bonus effect is taken from one of the raid Corrupted Weapons
Estilhaço do Império Negro
with the same Corruption level +35.
This weapon indicates that there is more to the system than just static Corrupted Weapons from the raid. Corrupted Weapons have expanded to at the very least Mythic+ers, and probably PvPers too so they don't feel left out (though we don't know for sure).
Note: There's a lot that we don't know about the system currently as the system changed in this build. This could also be a bug, but it feels very specific. I'll be doing more testing to see if we can find anything else out about the system.
Can Corrupted Weapons drop from end-of-dungeon chests or Weekly Chest only?
We currently have no idea how the system works, but it's possible that EVERY weapon can randomly roll Corrupted effects, similar to other gear, and that may not be exclusive to Mythic+ rewards either. There's a lot of non-corrupted weapons in the raid which were mostly ignored because they didn't have the powerful effects. This would be very interesting as it makes those non-corrupted weapons have a chance of becoming exciting, especially since they seem to be able to roll outside the type of the normal Corrupted Weapon. What is normally just a normal weapon could instead roll a Corrupted weapon effect that is normally unequippable. I think it's likely that all weapons can randomly become corrupted in this build, and we'll see what happens through further testing.
What procs can the randomly rolled Corrupted Weapons roll?
The weapons seem able to roll outside of the Raid weapon's type. As with our example above, the 1-Handed Sword rolled the Corruption effect of the raid Dagger.
While it's possible that there is just one large pool of Corrupted weapon effect, it seems unlikely. It wouldn't feel great to get the
Mar'kowa, o Furamentes
effect on a strength 2 hander. There's probably small pools that it can pull from, either related to your role or weapon type. If it seems good to you, you will probably be able to randomly Corrupt a weapon into it.
What does this mean?
If there's a Corrupted Weapon effect that you like but can't currently use, it seems possible to get this effect on a randomly rolled weapon. Want the
cooldown reduction but can't use a Wand? Maybe you can roll it on a Caster Sword, Mace or Staff. That'd be cool, right? If this is the case, there are a couple of non-corrupted weapons on the last boss. Maybe those will be able to randomly Corrupt as well?
However, this also means that there's more RNG in obtaining the perfect weapon. Hopefully, you get a Corrupted weapon, then you have to hope that it rolls your best Corruption weapon effect.
It does seem that the effect and the Corruption value are attached together, so you won't be able to get the same effect with more or less Corruption.
Again, we have no idea how this system works now, as this build changes how we thought Corrupted Weapons worked but at the very least, it seems that
Mythic+ players will have access to the Corrupted Raid Weapon effects
without having to Mythic raid.
Budget Corrupted Weapon Effects
Remember, we also
found some spell data changes
that weren't present on the normal Corrupted Weapons. However, maybe these randomly rolled Corruption Weapons have slightly reduced effects? It's hard to say with the weapon that we got, but this might be possible as well.
