I've made this guide to help train from 1-300 Jewelcrafting. At 300, you can start doing gem cuts so you'll really base your levelling on which raw gems you can get hold of on your own server.
Please Note:
• This is an efficient training path which isn't necessarily the cheapest. Having said that, I did base this on the cheapest options on my server at the time (I'm not psychic, so change things around as needed to match availability on your own server).
• The guide is designed to give an easy reference of all the materials needed to train.
• Stay near a trainer and make the items in order. If you find you can't make something this guide is suggesting, chances are you have just to learn it from the trainer.
• This guide makes wires, settings and filigrees that you will USE to train. This is why I haven't made as many of the various stone statues (for this reason, don't vendor the filigrees, settings and wires till you are done).

Cataclysm When, Who, Which for JC Dailies
At skill level
475
players are allowed to start doing the Cataclysm JC dailies.
Horde
and
Alliance
NPC's
Quests:
1.)
A Present for Lila
-- x3
Noctilita
cut into
Noctilita Eterna
2.)
Nibbler! No!
-- x3
Zefirita
cut into
Zefirita Maciça
3.)
Ogrezonians in the Mood
-- x3
Jaspe
cut into
Jaspe Serrilhado
4.)
Elemental Goo

Elemental Goo

elementals
right after taking the portal to hyjal (quick kills fast respawns)
5.)
The Latest Fashion!
Use
Poeira Estelar n.º 2
on x10 humanoid targets (Nearby NPC's count!)
End game raiding.
Jewelcrafters enjoy being able to use up to
3
Olho-da-quimera
.
Chimera's Eyes have more itemization points assigned to them, and come in a varried array of single stat type
cuts
.
The extra itemization give JC's a very practical raiding advantage.
Example: Stamina
Safira Oceânica Maciça
= +60 stam
Olho-da-quimera Maciço
= +101 stam
41 Stamina difference. If you use stamina for all 3 eyes then JC will have 123 more stamina than regular players.
Epic gems in 4.3
Unfortunately the Itemization of
Olho-da-quimera
's has not changed with the release of epics gems. This means that at higher level of play, were all the gems will be Epic in best in slot gear. JC falls a bit behind other professions. Here is the stamina example again.
Example: Epic Stamina
Cordierita do Geodomo Sólida
= +75 stam
Olho-da-quimera Maciço
= +101 stam
26 Stamina difference. If you use stamina for all 3 eyes then JC will have 78 more stamina than regular players. Unfortunately most profession perks are base around giving 80 stat value points, would would be 120 stamina. Meaning JC is now 21 stat points behind other professions.
Perks while Leveling.
During Leveling, Jewelcrafters can enjoy BOP items such as
Stone statues
which can really help in a tight spot.
One you reach level 81 and have a JC skill of 475, killing Cataclysm mobs will have a chance of dropping JC only quest statues to lead to a
selection of trinkets.
. These trinkets will help characters with JC to raise their ilevel early and are also pretty decent until players have farmed our heroic equivalents.

Dont forget Blacksmiths get 2 extra sockets one in the Gloves and one on the wrists - with 30 stam gems in both you get an extra 60 stam over everyone else. so only 3 less than JC and 2 less than Leatherworking. To be honest if you have the gold to level it I would say the best combo for a tank would be JC and BS.

Anyone know if Blizz is going to be upgrading the Dragon's eye cuts, after CATA is launched ?
With the new gem cuts that seem to be coming out soon, it looks like the Dragon's eye cuts will be outdated.
I can't find anything about it and it would suck if they don't upgrade the cuts, or add some other gem like the
Dragon's eye . I just wouldn't like all the time and gold I put into JC, just to have my little edge with Gems taken away .

They where when I was 420 and then gone ay 425 all in the same day.
Comentado por

Frankly, its pretty unfair to JCs how few trainers there are in the E Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Blizz seems to want to make JCs have to spend tons of travel time to do the same training other crafters can do in dozens of places around those continents.
Exodar, SW, Goldshire for alliance
Silvermoon and Orgrimmar for Horde? Good grief.
If you're a JC in need of training and questing in Silithus, Blasted Lands etc, you've got ages to spend on a flight ...
please note this is in reference to low level JCs, not Northrend ready toons.

Mining and
506
JC as we speak. Mined for
2 hours
yesterday in

and got about
250
Elementium ore's
and
250
Obsidium ore's
. Then today i
prospected
them and netted
7500-8500g
.
The only thing i dont like about it that acquiring the recipes will take a long time as it only exists one way of getting them and thats through daily's and it only exists 1 jc daily for illustrious. Also that the items we can craft that requires 525 JC costs alot of materials in exchange for what we are getting stat-wise.

Why do we not have any good DPS items to make?
Yeah we can reforge something like Band of Blades or Entwined Elementium Choker and drop the agility for a stat we need more.
But what good is that really?

A little gold tip for cataclysm:
Get
Joalheria
525. Start doing the dailys from
Isabel Jones
and get some Illustrious Jewelcrafter's Token.
Buy recipes for
Rubi Infernal Brilhante
,
Topázio Incandescente Temerário
,
Olho-de-demônio Velado
in that order.
Buy loads of
Minério de Elemêntio
from AH and prospect all of them (
Prospecção
).
You will get alot of green uncut gems and some blue uncut gems.
Cut the blues into
Rubi Infernal Brilhante
,
Topázio Incandescente Temerário
,
Olho-de-demônio Velado
and sell thoose you don`t have a cut for uncut.
For the greens:
Alicita
: Make
Pingente de Alicita
. Theese have a chance to proc rare quality (
Pingente de Alicita
). Sell the green ones to vendor and the blue ones on AH.
Cornalina
: Find someone with
Alquimia
or get it yourself. Pref transmute specc. Let the Alchemist transmute your
Cornalina
into
Rubi Infernal
(
Transmutar: Rubi Infernal
) and cut theese into
Rubi Infernal Brilhante
and then sell on AH.
Hessonita
: Same as above.
Transmutar: Topázio Incandescente
and cut into
Topázio Incandescente Temerário
.
Jaspe
: Wait until these are used for the daily JC quest and sell them on AH.
Noctilita
: Same as with
Cornalina
and
Hessonita
.
Transmutar: Olho-de-demônio
and cut into
Olho-de-demônio Velado
.
Zefirita
: Wait until these are used for the daily JC quest and sell them on AH.

This is a fairly time consuming prof. It is not very rewarding considering how the stats are never in the right order. If you can't seem to sell any of your bars on the AH and have no use for your ore, I would learn this. I keep one prof slot open at all times. I switch through alot of them. When I have a ton of ore taking up my bag space, I just learn JC and prospect them all. I make a nice little stack of Gold from all of this. Anyone that has mastered the art of auctioning, can easily make thousands of Gold from this prof.
Check other proffesions for my suggestions on who should have which.

Still works as of 4.0.6. However, the vendor that sells the Pendant of the Agate Shield has been removed and the pattern is gone from the game.
Wrong. Not sure where the Horde quartermaster is now, but the Alliance one is still there, but instead of hiding in the dark iron infested keep he now stands on the stone bridge out of Menethil harbor.

I am currently at level 480 JC. I always heard that JC was a nice profession for making money, but I'm really scratching my head at the moment. Where do we gain our profit?
It seems to me the gems are way underpriced, and thta making Fire Prisms may at times be almost as expensive as just buying the gems off the AH. (well, there is a slight difference, but not huge).
Atm I am able to cut gems for my guildies if they like, and I can also later on get the chimera gems, but where am I going to get my money? What other benefits do you get from JC?

Jewelcrafting is really a profitable proffesion and way to overexpensive for cutted gems.
Buy the gems on auction house or transmute them in alchemy, then find a JC in trade. 10g fee is enough

The best way I've found to make money with JC:
1) Buy Obsidium Ore whenever it drops to 36g/stack.
2) Destroy Ore, collect gems
3) Mass cut gems
4) Sell the perfect cuts on the AH, vendor the non perfects.
Logic: With nearly 150% chance to get a common level gem, which when cut, sells for 9g each, you can never lose money prospecting ore at 36g/stack. There's also a small chance for a rare gem which can be 20-80g.
You don't sell the gems in bulk on the AH because of the huge deposit fee. It costs over 60g to put a stack of green gems on the AH right now. Next patch, they're lowering the cost of uncut gems and thereby lowering the deposit, but until 4.1 hits it's a huge gamble to sell uncut gems on the AH.
Prospects: 351 (1755 ore)
Common Gems: 526 (average of 1.49 per prospect)
Rare Gems: 27
Total cost for ore (36g/stack): 3159g
Vendored cut common gems: 4734g
Total sale for rare gems (assume 20g each): 540
Total profit: 2115g
Time spent prospecting: 12 minutes
Time spent cutting gems: 26 minutes
Time spent buying ore: N/A, AH mod
Time spent collecting ore from mail: N/A, mail mod
This works with Elementium, too.
EDIT: this no longer works since patch 4.1 lowered the vendor price to 90silver. It was good while it lasted.

On my current server our Outland gem supply is really just when someone is mining and finds a gem by chance, making it sometimes a steady source of gold, as you can often overprice the gems and then desperate tailors wanting their flying carpet will buy them.

Anyone else hoping that the v4.2 PvP crafted gear doesn't stay BoP...?
Seems a bit tight if the main armor pieces (Blacksmithing, etc) are BoE & the 'accessories' are BoP - what's fair about that...?
Comentado por

well, Pyrite can not be prospected, and blue gems are the only ones worth using for lvl85 jewelry (or probably gemming anything lvl80+). Elementium is both easier to mine than is obsidium (Uldum vs. Hyjal) and yields a higher percentage of blues.
As of 4.2, there are now new purple items to craft by illustrious grandmasters (listed as blue on wowhead) that require a large number of blue gems and volatiles and elementium bars. Mining elementium gives blues, mining both pyrite and elementium and farming elementals gives volatiles (though you'll be spending days farming them to get enough for a single item).

interesting thing i have noticed, well i found out neck and rings from rare yellow and green sell better than cut gems but while looking at it jasper and alicite are used to make a pendant and a ring which vendors for 5g 50s , 1g 05s for frame so when ppl put ali and jasper on ah cheap (seen alot of this) you can buy make ring and vendor it for a profit
better off d/eing it but vendor is still profit but when making those you have a chance to produce rare versions of ring and pendant that sell for well over 50g

Hi SirCero, I'm on the same realm as you and admit it's not easy to make a pile of money right now - but don't worry, it's not all bad.
When Cata came out, I made around 30k in a week by mining, prospecting and then cutting (and also by just selling the ore). I couldn't find mats fast enough and prices were very high.
Nowadays, I spend hours mining and some of the gems I prospect are going for the same on the AH that I'd get from a vendor - It can be disheartening at times and I end up just selling some gems for next-to-nothing to get the bag space back.
That said, there is hope. Some gems and cuts are still in good demand and if you're careful and put some effort in, you can make a good profit. As an example, Inferno Ruby cuts are usually pretty good profit. Flashing Inferno Ruby is currently selling for ~300g but is not in huge demand. Delicate Inferno Ruby are ~150g and I seem to sell 10-15 every time I post). From 1 hour mining in Uldum, if I prospect all the ore, I expect to get 3-8 Inferno Rubies (you can also buy rubies for ~100g although in the last 48 hours, that's dropped to ~77g).
Remember that
money making comes in waves for JCs
- After an expansion has been out for a while (as now),
most
players have
most
of the gear they want - At least all the ones who know about gear and are willing to spend money on it. The next time an expansion comes out, every serious player is going to want what you're selling - and these are the guys who have been hoarding cash for months/years. Just pretend you're Apple launching the new
iStone
- quadruple the price, limit supply, over-hype it in the trade channel and rake in the money - Which leads me on to...
Get in early
- Watching patch notes to see when new recipes are going to be added (and ideally find out the cost beforehand so you can start farming rep/currency and gathering mats) - That way, as soon as the new patch lands, you can start producing the high-demand items. If you get in early enough, you can make an absolute fortune when wealthy players want to be the first to have the best.
According to my stats, my JC char has made 138,320g 21s 32c from auctions and I'd guesstimate 85-90% of that is from mining/JC.
For reference, I spend 1-2 hours a day on making money and at that nets me around 2-3k.
I've found that materials tend to be cheaper at the weekend and cut gems/items tend to sell for more during the week (especially early on - presumably raiders unhappy with gear over the weekend).
Hope this helps. If you've got any questions / if I can help, mail me in-game (Basiclife)

Mists of Pandaria - cheapest way to discover all recipes
If you are not looking for special recipes, you should try out the following:
1) research Sun's Radiance (yellow) or River's Heart (blue)
If you have learned everything from a color, it will discover a random recipe! This is why you should research blue or yellow gems. They are usually sold very cheap (that's the reason why you shouldn't research red gems) and there are only 4 recipes to discover for these colors.
2) Save your
Spirit of Harmony
for an additional random recipe.
There is no way to learn a special recipe like in Cataclysm, it's all about luck. If you are looking for a special recipe, you can research the color and pray that you'll learn it soon.
3) ?
4) Profit

Hi there, i'm just wondering how many different blue gems you can discover in MoP?
Been making the Facets Of Research for a pretty long time now and still discovering new gems!

You might note.. that unlike the other professions, even a maxed level 600 JC CAN NOT use his JC only cuts until he gets gear with sockets. You can't put any gem on ilev 415 blues, because the gem REQUIRES level 417 gear. Unlike the embossments, spell threads, inscriptions, glove and bracer sockets... etc etc.. The only thing you can do, is spend a ton of gold on a ghost iron belt buckle and socket a pathetic +67 gem from Cata. I submitted a suggestion to blizz that a JC be allowed to make JC claws.. to add (max 2) gems to gear, regardless of ilev. I doubt anything will be done, but its there

As of
patch 5.2: The Thunder King
, JC's can now obtain
2
new
designs.
These are:
Desenho: Coração da Serpente
&
Desenho: Diamante Primevo
. These can drop off
any
mob in Pandaria!
Personal note:
I myself got both of them within a few hours of questing and killing mobs on the new Isle of Thunder.
Good luck!

Is there a reason why we cannot make rings and amulets? With the new dungeons at 522, we should be able rings and amulets level 496 out of blood spirits.
Anyone knows if Blizzard have made any comments?

Hey guys, I made a quick guide on how to use the Mantid Artifact Sonic Locator to re-randomize your digsites in the old continents for easy farming of Tol'Vir fragments and any other races you still require.
You can check it out here:

Good luck with the farming.

Hey.
Since no one else have said anything about it, I thought I should.
I have recently skilled JC on my priest up to about 550 to get the special
Olho-de-serpente
gems, when I noticed something I find a bit weird.
If you for instance make 2
Olho-de-serpente Sólido
that will give you a total of 480 stam x 2 = 960 stamina. (240x2 = 480 for non JC players), but if you make say 2
Olho-de-serpente Fraturado
it will give you a total of 480 x 2 =960 mastery (compared to
Resplendor do Sol Fraturado
320 x 2 = 640 mastery for non JC players.)
Is it only me that find it weird that you will actually lose stats if u go for Secondary Stat Serpent's Eye Gems compared to other proffesion perks. In my opinion
Olho-de-serpente Fraturado
should give 640 Mastery, giving a total of 1280 mastery (or any other secondary stat*)
So the only option for me is to go for Intellect or Stamina, else ending up losing alot of stats...
A blacksmith could by adding 2 gem slots to bracer/gloves add 640 in any secondary stat, meanwhile JC user only can add 320. That doesn't make any sence to me. Sorry for the long post and English is not my native language so pardon me for any spelling mistakes and if my math is wrong, please just look away from this xD

I have the Master of All acheivement I have brought up reputation and done quests required to get every pattern recepie formula and cut that I can for every proffession (I do not raid so I don't have all). I have worked the daily inscriptions until there were no more to learn. I have done the daily JC cuts up to the point where there are no more to learn. I am doing the Dalaran and the Stormwind Daily quests every day I have been since I first could in early June (I may have missed 1 or two days) at 1 per day I only have to do the dailies for 524 more days (if I don't spend any tokens on the Chimera's Eye or the Tome of Burning Jewels).
The cuts and patterns require a total of 612
Illustrious Jewelcrafter's Tokens which can only be earned 1 per day. It just seems that 1year and 8 months to work a proffession is a bit much.
Most of the gems and the pieces of jewelry will have little or no value except to twinks or for a short time for leveling toons. I hope that Blizz plans to change something and make the grind less than the present 20 months. Or offer as a reward, some super high price gem cuts that require
just doing the 612 day grind.
I do the proffessions because I fall into the lowest 1% in PVP ability, and I don't do raids until I can do them solo or with a friend or two.
Is there any other proffession that takes more than 4 months to grind.

I am not sure how or if I can make prismatic gems. Everything I find about them is from 2009 and I don't know if this correct or not. I have some gear that calls for prismatic gems, but what does that mean?

The starting quest item for each crafting profession, skill 600-700, is dropped by Dorogg the Ruthless when doing the quest "The Butcher of Bladespire" at Bladespire Fortress.

In WoW professions we now buid items that can rival the raid drop items and are far better than the dungeon drop items. They start small and can be made bigger and bigger. They all are created with what is called a
<Random Enchantment>
. We even craft items to take another roll at the <Random Enchantment> on the gear. The random enchant includes 2 of the secondary stats (giving us a measurable chance or RNG). Items for the Back (cloak), neck, neck, finger(ring), weapon, and shield, have a greater number of possibilities than other armor items, because they can contain the secondary statistics of Bonus Armor and Spirit (fortunately they do not include the combination of both those statistics ;-).
All of the items have a name in the form of "<ItemName> of the
<RandomEnchantComboName>
". If you click on the
<RandomEnchantComboName>
link, it will take you to a chart with all the possible names and combinations. I wish I could add a picture here.
http://compuball.com/forum/WoWRandomEnchantment.png
Examples:
"
Escudo Forjado em Aço
of the Guileful" would have Critical Strike and Bonus Armor as the <Random Enchant>
"
Peitoral de Vero-aço
of the Harmonious" would have Mastery and Versatitility as the <Random Enchant>
(I think I threw up a little bit there)
Most Armor Items:
As we see from this graph, the number of possible <Random Enchantments> for most armor items will be 10. So, you have a 1 in 10 (1/10 or
10%
) possibility of getting just the mixture of statistics you want.
Cloaks, Necks, Rings, Shields, Weapons:
These items have an additional 2 statisctics added to the normal 4. The added statistics, as mentioned earlier, are Bonus Armor and Spirit (Tank and Healer statistics, respectively). Fortunately there is no combination of both Bonus Armor and Spirit (ever here of teats on a boar hog?)
Only weapon types
intended
for a healing class will have the possibility of Spirit, and only weapon types
intended
for a tanking class will have Bonus Armor. Weapons
intended
for both, will have the same chances as all the jewelry, cloaks, and shields. So if it can be enchanted (by enchanting) or is a shield, it fits in this class of item.
So your chances of getting the perfect necklace with just the right two secondary statistics is 1 in 20 (1/20 or
5%
). I am not certain whether Bonus Armor and Spirit have the same chance of being included. If they are given a single chance and then chosen between the two, then your chance for an item with perfect statistics not including Bonus Armor or Spirit would be 1 in 15 (1/15 or
6.67%
).
I would list here all the values associated with the <Random Enchantments>, however they vary depending on the slot and material. They also vary with the level of the individual wearing or looking at them.
There you have it. All the possible names and combinations. All items of the same level contain the same amount of statistic, such as "54 Critical Strike" and I have not seen a crafted item with a double a statistic (only one statistic but twice the value).
EDIT: None of content, just spelling and highlighting.

Blizzard, seriously, need a 'Prospect All' option for these mats that can be in stacks of 200 now. Pretty annoying having to prospect entire stacks at 5 mats a time.

When are we going to get the healing statues either as a practical item (such as a potion equivalent or as a harmless meatshield pet) or as a toy ... or both?

Are you looking to level up jewelcrafting in your 90+ toon?
- Go to
Lança de Guerra
.
- Learn the proffesion from the trainer (the elven hut).
- Buy
Joalheira Draenoriana
from the vendor (its next to the trainer).
- Make 3
Segredo da Joalheria Draenoriana
(you will have to wait till third daily CD).
- Buy then
Receita: Prisma Refletor
and just with 325
Fogo Mágico
you can level it up to 650 because this recipe gives two skill points while its orange.
On Zuljin-EU you can easily buy the fires 30s each, so if you want to sell the
Prisma Refletor
to the vendor you may didnt lost more than a few golds.
Hope it helps :D
