I'm guessing it'll look like mage's
, only you cast it for 4 seconds. Interesting trinket imo.
Say hello to my little friend!
The damage on this is TERRIBLE, especially since it lacks any statistics and is a trinket. 1197 average damage tick every .5 seconds for 4 seconds = 8 ticks = 9576 damage. so 9.5K * 10 targets would give 95K over 4 seconds of channelling... in which you could be doing FAR more damage to each target with your class-based AoEs. Unless this gets a damage buff and a stat to go with it, it's USELESS beyond roleplaying you're a Dragonhawk.
Would be awesome if it's obtainable at low lvl though, would be funny if some 19 twink got his hands on this :P
Gatling Gun has hit WoW!
IMA FIRIN MAH LAZER!
Sorry, needed to say, :p

When I compare this to my current trinkets in-game, it says it has strength, stamina, and haste on it. Bwuh?
Specifically, 486 strength, 730 stamina, and 486 haste. It shows these as +stats under the current items I have equipped, but does not show those stats on the actual dragon gun.
If you want this trinket just for vanity or eye candy then by all means go for it; it's not actually a gun, it's more of a flame thrower built like a canon in the shape of a dragon.
Video of trinket animation:
On the other hand, if you care about your dps, do not waste your JPs on this trinket, look for something else. I've seen green quality items with better damage than this one.
Only did about 12k damage per tick on a level 90 test dummy and about 11.5k damage per tick on a boss level test dummy, so over 4 seconds it did just about 100k damage. Most classes can hit for more than that in 1-2 seconds now at ilvl 440, so to stop what you're doing just to do 100k in 4 seconds when you could have done 2-4 times as much just from your own spells is pointless. The trinket is a dps loss.
The fire from the gun is a channelling effect; you get a channel bar for 4 seconds, BUT,
any casting of any other spell or action besides walking, will cancel the effect
and will put the trinket on cool down.
It could get you killed.
While doing Sha of Violence in Shado-Pan Monastary, I decided to try out the trinket for the first time. Bad idea. While dps'ing the boss, I activated the trinket and just after I did that, the boss called spike on me, I went to run out the way but couldn't because I was
from casting the trinket and not running; there was no other way to cancel it other than hitting the boss to cancel the effect.
It looks cool
Will only activate if you have an enemy target selected.
Mainly used for eye candy, however it is a decent aoe in heroics.
Whether or not this item is good depends on the conditions at which it is used. As with most trinkets, using them well is the best way to get your damage off. Namely, you're going to want to use it when 1) there are aoe packs and 2) it would be good for your dps to use it. I'll use my last dungeon run as an example. In a pack of mobs ( Scarlet monastery, last pack, cannot recall number of mobs.) as a DK, I can use Howling blast a couple of time and maybe get a few oblit crits in. If Killing machine is up but oblit is down, I can (and did) use the dragon gun. With our group's debuffs and everything, it did ~12.5k damage per tick on average, resulting in ~25kdps per target (while my runes recharged), Over the 4 seconds that it fired, hit hit 34 times, a total of 413k damage in 4 seconds, or a little over 100k aoe dps. In other words, the more mobs in the way, the higher it's damage becomes, especially if your aoe attack is on CD.
I have yet to try it with my feral, but I imagine that it can be used while one regenerates energy for swipe, but not in place of swipe.
Does anyone know how much damage this does upgraded? Because I have been seeing Human Monk's for instance using this trinket in arena's / RBG's and they hit hard as heck.. Anyone know?
Upgraded version does 13-14k damage a tick.
First off, I need to say two things:
1. I love this item.
2. Try this out for yourself before you assume I'm wrong and down-vote.
You'll notice someone else has posted that it does 13K-14K damage per tick when upgraded.
However, I have observed that, BEFORE I upgraded my gun, it was still doing about 13,000 damage per tick, not 10,000 as it clearly states in the description. I'm not saying the other poster is wrong, however, as it still does roughly 13,000 damage per tick once upgraded as well.
Another note: The description doesn't change once upgraded. Upgraded or not, it is labeled "10,000 fire damage."
Note: this post may be outdated by the time you are reading it, as a large patch is coming up in a few days that may affect this. I'm curious as to see how this trinket may or may not change.
Not sure if intended or not, but I saw a number of people using this item today in Gadgetzan to kill low level players while themselves never being put in combat. Thus, they were allowed to kill people with no retribution from guards.
Very useful for pure Holy Paladins. Helps greatly with our lack of AoE whilst questing/soloing old content! :D
Does anyone know if this item can be used out of combat?
Use this to kill low level enemies in guarded towns (Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, you name it). It won't aggro the guards.
Don't be fooled by this item's tooltip.
For my death knight, it only does about 800 damage per tick.
It was affected by the stat squish but it's tooltip does not reflect the changes.
Currently bugged and will always miss high level targets.
