Introducing: The Celestial Tournament
The Celestial Tournament can be completed only once per week, per account.
A player must have leveled, themselves, a minimum of 15 Battle Pets that have reached Lv25.
During the Tournament, Pets cannot be healed with
Bandagem de Mascote de Batalha
or with the
Reviver Mascotes de Batalha
button.
The Celestial Tournament takes place in The Celestial Court on the Timeless Isle. The quest to compete in the Tournament can be obtained by speaking with
Mestre Li
, who is located near the South-Western corner of the The Celestial Court (coordinates 34.8, 59.6).
Once
O Torneio Celestial
quest has been accepted, speak with
Mestre Li
once more to begin the challenge. The Tournament works similarly to a Scenario; but each player will be zoned into to their own private Tournament grounds.
There is no time limit for completing the Tournament.
Your pets do not suffer the 10% Health-loss when you forfeit a battle against a Tamer or Celestial.
You will not be able to watch other players compete in the Tournament, and similarly, other players will not be able to watch you.
You can leave and restart the Tournament instance as many times as you want - however, you will lose all progress when you zone out of the Tournament.
Once you have zoned into The Celestial Tournament grounds, you are able to freely run around the The Celestial Court (or beyond) and interact with the NPC spectators and vendors. In the center of The Celestial Court there are three NPC Pet Tamer opponents that you can interact with, as well as the four Celestial opponents you will be able to interact with in Round 2.
The Tournament consists of two rounds; the first round involves defeating the three NPC Pet Tamers (similar to World Pet Tamers), and the second round involves defeating the four Celestial pets (similar to the Beasts of Fable); for a total of 7 opponents that must be defeated to win the Tournament.
Because there is no time restriction or staged lineup, it is up to you to decide when each battle will begin and who your opponent will be; each Pet Battle begins when you speak to the opponent you wish to engage. Once all seven opponents have been defeated in the same Instance attempt, you are done with the Celestial Tournament for the week and can zone out of the Instance to hand in the quest and collect your reward.
Although there are only three NPC Pet Tamers available each week for the first round of the Tournament, there are actually a total of nine Tamers that alternate weeks, in groups (or "tiers") of three. The groups never change their composition, and their pets never change their abilities; these groups are:
Tamer Opponents
Group 1
Lorewalker Cho
Dr. Ion Goldbloom
Sully "The Pickle" McLeary
Group 2
Taran Zhu
Chen Stormstout
Wrathion
Group 3
Wise Mari
Blingtron 4000
Shademaster Kiryn
The four Celestial pets that are battled in round two, however, remain the same every week; they are:
Celestial Opponents
Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-ji
Xu-fu, Cub of Xuen
Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon
Zao, Calfling of Niuzao
The consistency of the pre-formed Tamer Groups is beneficial in that it allows players to build strategies that reuse the same pets on Tamers from different Groups.
Wait... what?
Yep, you read that correctly, this is a thing. Certain Tamers and Celestials have predictable combat rotations that will cause no damage to your pets on the first round of the battle, and therefore allow you to repeatedly cast "group heal" abilities.
So how do I use this to my advantage?
Find a Lv.25 Battle Pet with a strong "group heal" ability; such as
Balido
or
Canção Inspiradora
Place the healing pet in the first Battle Pet Slot and your injured (not dead) pets in the remaining two slots
Engage one of the designated "healing" Tamers or Celestials in battle
Use the healing ability
Forfeit the battle
Repeat until fully healed
While useful, this method can be somewhat time-consuming. It's most useful for situations where you have just started a Battle and something goes wrong (an important attack misses, the wrong ability is used etc.) it gives you a second chance at the same Tamer - providing, of course, that your pet was not killed.
In-tournament healing is also quite useful for Trainers who prefer to use "Howl Bombs" against the Celestial opponents.
Another healing method uses the
Lagostim Mágico
and its
Desejo
ability. Simply open with the Magical Crawdad, use Wish, swap in the pet that needs healing, and it will receive the +50% HP recovery from Wish.
Personally, I prefer the "group heal" method. When using the Wish-method, your injured pet will generally take damage when it is swapped in (potentially killing it), unless the Tamer does no damage for the first 2 rounds.
And which Tamers and Celestials allow for healing?
Group 1: Dr. Ion Goldbloom
Group 2: Wrathion
Group 3: Wise Mari
Celestial: Yu'la
Just remember not to defeat the "healing" Tamers and Celestials until last!
After successfully completing
O Torneio Celestial
, you will receive:
1
Moeda Celestial
5
Pontos de Bravura
0
Moeda Perene
Celestial Coins can be spent to buy the exclusive Celestial pets and useful Trainer items.
As a bonus reward for your very first completion of
O Torneio Celestial
you will receive the quest:
O dia chuvoso chegou
, from
Mestre Li
. The Rainy Day is Here is a unique
one-time-only
, account-wide quest that rewards players with two additional
Moeda Celestial
for their first victory in The Celestial Tournament; combined with the 1
Moeda Celestial
received from
O dia chuvoso chegou
quest, this leaves players with a total of 3
Moeda Celestial
- enough to purchase a Celestial pet - sold by
Mestre Li
.

Similar to the way that Heroic Mode raiding will challenge a Raider's abilities; The Celestial Tournament is intended to be the "final" challenge for Pet Trainer's to demonstrate the knowledge and mastery they have gained while expanding and leveling their pet collection.
Because this is "end game" content, player's should not reasonably expect to waltz into the Raid with no knowledge of the Boss encounters and inadequate armour and weapons and simply breeze through it on their first attempt.
The Celestial Tournament is intended to be a challenge; but above all else,
it's meant to be fun!
When you enter the Tournament, armed with knowledge and pre-planned Pet Teams/strategies, you may be surprised how easily you conquer it. And once you can reliably defeat the 9 Tamers and 4 Celestials, try to take some time every week to experiment and create new strategies based around your favourite pets or even a fun theme.
You may enjoy it more than you think you would!

This Pet List is here simply as a reference for all pets used in Additional Strategies that cannot be categorized under one of the other Headings (Cageable, Original, Beginners etc.). There may be multiple Additional Strategies for a Tamer, or there may be none at all.
Please use one of the other Pet List's if you are looking for a completed "Shopping List" of Pets.

Alternative / Replacement Pets
Explore the tabs within this table to discover Battle Pets that can be used in place of ones that are recommended on the Pet Lists.
About the Pet List
This pet list is intended to be an interactive guideline that helps Pet Battlers of all skill levels by:
a) establishing a solid foundation of pets that can be used to defeat all opponents in the Celestial Tournament
b) listing alternative pets that can be used to substitute for those either not acquired or not leveled
c) revealing the flexibility of most strategies, and
d) encouraging experimentation within the Tournament - after all, it's there to have fun with!
Using the Pet List
As you explore the pet list, you may notice that not all pets within the family-specific tabs (Beast, Critter, Elemental etc.) appear on the "Original Pet List"; these unlisted pets are used only in alternative strategies that may often include Blizzard Store, TCG, or hard-to-obtain pets.
Most opponents are presented with multiple strategies to use against them. The strategies titled "Original" are the ones in which I have tried to use only easily-obtained pets. The cumulative list of all pets used in "Original" strategies form the "Original Pet List"; this list provides Pet Battlers a general shopping list of pets they may need to level before entering the Celestial Tournament.
Finding an Alternative Pet
As an example, we will find an alternative pet to use in place of the Frog.
The Frog is from the Aquatic family, so it will be listed under the Aquatic tab, located above.
Within the Aquatic tab, you will see a column with the heading "
FROG
".
The "Seen in" row will contain all Opponent and Strategy names the Frog is used for.
The "Substitute with" row will contain all acceptable replacements for the Frog.
Occasionally, such as with the Frog, there will be circumstances that do not allow the same replacements for different Strategies or Opponents; this is generally due to factors such as the Speed Stat of the given pet. For example, the Huge Toad may be a suitable replacement for the Frog in one battle, whereas in a different battle, the Huge Toad may be an undesirable replacement because it does not have the necessary Speed that is needed to be faster than an opponent.
When only specific breeds of a pet can be used, they will be listed beside the replacement pet's name.
Understanding the Pet Family Tabs
Many pets share identical move sets with other pets; in the Pet Family Tabs, these pets are listed with no additional information.
Alternatively, other pets will share similar - but not identical - move sets.
≈
←This is the "almost equal to" sign; you will find it in front of pets that share similar move sets.
(1,2,1)
←This is an example of a move set selection; it will provide a recommended move set for similar pets.
All battle pets have 6 combat abilities. The top row of abilities is indicated by a "1" and the bottom row of abilities is indicated by a "2". Therefore, the move set provided in the example, (1,2,1), for a generic Rabbit, would look like this:

Deals Less Damage to

Purity Harmful damage over time effects are reduced by 50% on Aquatic pets.
Enrage Beasts deal 25% extra damage below half health.
Elusive Critters are immune to stun, root, and sleep effects.
Execute Dragons deal 50% additional damage on the next round after bringing a target's health below 50%.
Weather Immune Elementals ignore all negative weather effects.
Swiftness Flying creatures gain 50% extra speed while above 50% health.
Recovery Humanoids recover 4% of their maximum health if they dealt damage this round.
Spellshield Magic pets cannot be dealt more than 35% of their maximum health in one attack.
Failsafe Comes back to life once per battle, returning to 20% health.
Damned Undead pets return to life immortal for one round when killed.

Tommy Newcomer's strat works like a charm and is malleable enough to allow for some lower level pets. I did it with a level 22 Sentry instead of a level 25 pet and it still worked.
Great guide!

Excellent guide! Made week 2 a piece of cake :) I'm bookmarking this for future weeks.
Might want to mention the Grell strat for Yu'la since he can solo her. One of your suggested humanoids makes a great backup if something goes wrong, but the Grell stays pretty healthy with cauterize/dodge. Even though the Grell is a tcg pet, seems to be fairly cheap on the ah on most realms.

I'm now leveling all the pets you suggest before stepping in again :) I feel it will be much easier following the strat... this is the most comprehensive guide I've found TY TY

Do you have a recommendation for the reward celestial pet? Will any of them be overly useful as a battle pet for the tourney in future weeks?

Awesome guide Taluka :) But now I am going to be super busy the next few days leveling up more pets! I like that you have used pets that are relatively painless to get and not TCG items and stuff like that. -Girlrage
Edit: All right! I spent 3 weeks getting most (I thought "all" but found out tonight I'm still missing a few) of the pets on the list here to level 25. Here are some notes I'm taking while doing this, because as it turns out I forgot a couple of pets and had to use different ones!
Lorewalker Cho:
Instead of using a spider on Patience (the dragon?) I used a scourged whelpling (uncommon). By the time my spider had died, Patience was already around 60% health, and all I had to do with the whelpling was Call Darkness + 1 round of Dreadful Breath. Also note that Patience's tail sweep is weak against undead, so it didn't do too much damage to my whelp.
Dr. Goldbloom
: I had to get a little creative here as I did not have ANY of the pets you recommended (how the heck did I miss all those!). I used Menagerie Custodian (zap, shock and awe, lock on), Emerald Proto Whelp P/P (emerald bite, ancient blessing, emerald dream), and Celestial Dragon (flamethrower, ancient blessing, starfall). Used EPW on the flyer, generally using the healing spells on CD which makes for a long fight but oh well. Eventually the flyer feigns death and the stupid triceratops comes out. At this point I will heal up my Whelp if need be and maybe get a couple hits in on the trike, then get frustrated by being stunned and switch to the mechanical (I'm sure any mechanical would work). Custodian kills the trike, flyer comes out only to feign death and disappear again, and then Chaos comes out. I can get 1-2 hits in on Chaos before Custodian dies, and out comes Celestial Dragon. Even though Starfall is strong vs. Chaos, I chose not to actually use it because it buffs his "Logic" ability, which is already strong vs. my dragon. Instead I just use flamethrower til Chaos dies. Screamer can then be finished off with either Celestial Dragon or Emerald Proto Whelp- one hit should suffice.

Thank you so much for posting this♥
Unlike other people, I actually did not step into the tournament because the people I spoke to had over ninety 25 pets, and they were barely able to complete it, so I thought that I had absolutely no chance of doing it until I leveled a bunch of more pets.
I was looking for something to determine what I should level, what seems to work for this and what strats other people are using - So thanks for all 3! :)

Is there any alternative pet instead of Bonkers? That pet is really hard to get and you cant buy it from AH.
Comentado por
mel9525
Hey Haxan,
Although Bonkers is ideal for Yu'la, he can be replaced by any of the following:
Pandaren Monk: Takedown, Staggered Steps, Blackout Kick.
Use Staggered Steps to counter Lift Off.
Anubisath Idol: Crush, Stoneskin, Deflection.
Keep up Stoneskin, use Deflection to counter Lift Off.
Kun-Lai Runt: Takedown, Frost Shock, Deep Freeze.
Just the usual Frost Shock > Deep Freeze > Takedown.
Of course, if you use Anuibsath Idol, this means that it can't be used on Chen. No matter though, replace Anubisath on Chen with either:
Flayer Youngling: Triple Snap, Deflection, Rampage.
Use Deflection to block Locust Swarm if needed, otherwise, Rampage > Snap.
Kun-Lai Runt: Thrash, Mangle, Rampage.
Just the usual Mangle > Rampage > Thrash.
Or use any Rabbit with Dodge and Burrow to avoid Locust strikes.
Or any Spider, use Brittle Web and Spiderling Swarm.
Best Wishes!

As of 11/4/2013 this strategy does not work, not even close to working. The Nordrassil wisps do so little damage that it is totally impossible to get a kill. By the time both of the wisps died Chi Chi was at full health. I tried this strategy six time for the same result each time. RNG was kind and there were no misses. Just not enough damage to hurt the boss.

an alternative for chi-chi
it involves landro lichling but anything with Curse of Doom will do(use this on since it had highest power i could find atm)
Crimson geode used a P/P breed but then UNCOMMEN is fine
we need Elementium Bolt from this one
and Chrominius for Surge of power.
t1 lichling use Curse of Doom
t2 swap to Geode
t3 Elementium Bolt
t4 swamp to Chrominius
t5 Howl
after howl is applied curse and bold land for full power and granting stunn so doggy survives
t6 Surge of power
all of these move have hitrate of 100% so no randomness.
Edit: Cheap alternatives for Landro Lichling are Lost of Lordaeron and Lofty Libram.
Chromagnus has a alternative Lil Tarecgosa(can be hard to get). all other alternatives with this skill dont have the hp to take a 6quill hit

I stumbled upon this guide when it was mentioned on the forums and I have a couple questions for you.
#1: When you suggest collecting 2 Rare Nordassil Wisps above 310 speed, are you meaning to just catch them both or use the same pet twice?
#2: Ghost Skull is automatically an Uncommon pet, should I try to find a Battle-Stone for this one or is there some kind of substitute for it?
And #3: Is there any way you can add the alternative pets to the original list (like you have for the Searing Scorching)? Because I found a decent pet alternative for a couple that have the exact same abilities and might be a bit easier to farm for. Such as any snail pet would be a good alternative to the Rapana Whelk, a Mirror Strider would be easier to obtain than the Aqua Strider, etc.
I eagerly await your reply! This guide has been most helpful in helping me determine what pets would be best to use. Looks like I have some level grinding to do! :D Awesome job!

I think you should mention that Bonkers should be with a breed with 288+ speed. If it's not, it is really hard to dodge lift off.

Hello! I recently got into battle pets and I was reading through your guide while accumulating my collection and stones to upgrade them with and I was wondering:
For pets such as the Brown Marmot, the Blighthawk, or the second Fox, is there a specific breed that should be used? For example, my second fox is a p/p Fjord Worg Pup, my Blighthawk is p/s, and my Marmot is s/s.
I'd like to know before I use
or waste
any more stones. And thanks again for your guide!

Just another compilation with guaranteed success (if played correctly). Especially the legendary pets rarely need the third pet.
Ability selection is straightforward (I edited it in some cases for clarity)
chen stormstout
- personal world destroy (buff -> attack)
- grove viper (burrow on swarm)
- yellow-bellied (rain, then shoot )
taran zhu
- Crawling Claw
- Nether Ray Fry
- Hopling
Wrathion
- mr wiggles
- restless shadeling (dodge on heal of alex)
- scourged whelpling
Wise Mari
- crow (2nd round call darkness)
- dark whelpling(tail -> lift-off)
- yellow bellied bullfrog
Blingtro 4000
- strider / water skimmer (pump it up!)
- electrified razortooth
- sinister squashling
Shademaste kyrin
- amethyst spiderling (double dots + life leech)
- water waveling (ice lance/frost nova/tidal wave)
- gilded moth (wolf cast sequence is dodge, prowl, bias)
Lorewalker Cho
- nexus whelpling (breath + mana storm/arcane winds)
- amethyst spiderling (brittle net)
- spirit crab (or any other random pet...)
Sully "The Pickle" McLeary
- effervescent glow fly (swarm -> scratch)
- netherr ray (bite)
- random moth (e.g. amber moth)
dr. ion goldbloom

Zao
- Sunreaver microsentry
- Zandalari Anklerender
- zandalari toenibbler
Comentado por

They Seriously buffed Xu-Fu since this guide. The two fox strategy has worked flawlessly until this week. The damage done by Xu-Fu has been increased so neither fox can get enough attacks in to kill. The damage done was not critical nor was it a hard hit but it rocked them both. First fox never got in the bite, second fox managed only a single hit. Not enough health removed for the bot to kill

The Celestials can be easily defeated by Darkmoon Zeppelin, Water Spirit and Chrominius...
Just use water spirit, Geyser, Whirlpool, switch to Chrom and Howl. Then Surge of Power can easily finish them...
Use Zeppelin first to cast the Decoy when challenging Xu-Fu, then switch to water spirit and do the same....
And leave Yu-la to be the last one, so you can use something like Inspiring Song to heal your team to full.
Really easy

I have made a list with in my opinion hard to get minions in this setup.
Please make note that some of the pets listed here are Acquirable without having the actually same named pets
Molusco Rapana
can be replaced by
Caracol Clarapaça
or several others. Might be worth seeing if your pets that look like the one you need to find actually have the same skills. Or are on another place with more numbers in the world so that farming them becomes easy.
The addon used by Taluka is called
Pet-tracker
and can be found on addon websites such as curse. This will give you an accurate location of the pets you are looking for. Something that comes close to wowheads battle-pets map, but then ingame.
The pets listed bellow are the harder to obtain pets.
And if anyone during their travels have good replacement for these pets feel free to tell us in a respond

Second, my question: You have the
Grifinho Martelo Feroz
listed under flying pets but I don't see where he is used in the individual battles...did I miss him somewhere or can you fill me in? I just got him to 25 but not sure where he fits in overall.

Great guide thanks.
Xu Fu with wolves however seldom works for me.
Easy team i've experienced has been
skywisp moth
clockwork gnome
any other ( i used anodize robot cub)
killed xu-fu with everyone alive and didnt need last pet. going from memory so bare with me
1. Skywisp
use cocoon
call lightning
slicing wind
2. switch to clockwork gnome
turrent
metal fist
3. back to skywisp
cocoon
call lightning
4. clockwork gnome
turrent
xu-fu did miss once on gnome so your mileage may vary but a strong last pet should make this pretty easy even with bad luck

Hi, haven't looked at the guide to the trainers, but couple things on the celestials themselves...
Yula, as noted in other comments, Mr. Bigglesworth
1. Claw
2. Ice Tomb
3. Ice barrier
4. pass
5. Claw
6. Claw
repeat. Only user error causes screw ups, take a humanoid with you to fill the team
Zufu AND! Zao
Sunreaver Micro-sentry
Lil' bling
Zandalari Anklerender (then Zandalari kneebiter)
Zu-fu
Sunreaver casts call lightning, trade for zandalari
Zandalari casts black claw (dies)
lil bling casts Inflation
Zao
Sunreaver casts call lightning
Sunreaver casts laser, trade for zandalari
Zandalari casts black claw
Zandalari casts hunting party, trade for bling
lil bling casts inflation
Chi-Chi
Pandaren Water Spirit
1. Cast Geyser
2. Cast Whirlpool
you might be tempted to keep going DO NOT, trade for Chrominius
3. Cast howl
4. Cast Surge of Power.

Can't say it's RNG-proof, but I've won 7 times without even close to losing (still lose a lot of trainer fights though :P )

The faster option I've found for Lil' Oondasta came from a friend: Clockwork Gnome and Zandalari Kneebiter.
Round 1: Build turret
Round 2: Oon should pull the Zandalari out. Use Hunting Party
Round 3: Hunting Party continues
Round 4: Black Claw
Round 5: wWatever you want, if your Zandalari dies, usually the turret will take Oon out.

An addition to the strategy for
Taran Zhu
:
If your
Moth
's
Pó de Mariposa
puts your opponent to sleep, then you'll have a bit of a situation on your hands. When you put the enemy to sleep, the
tamer
swaps in a different pet, and for me, he always chose to swap in
Yen
. If your
Moth
is still above 50% health, you will have a
speed advantage
and you have an opportunity to dispose of
Yen
by quickly using
Golpe Alfa
before
Yen
does his
Fingir de Morto
. However, if you are below 50%, you will not be able to attack fast enough and will end up falling out of the plan on this page.
I personally am not sure how to recover in that situation and end up just forfeiting the fight. Any idea how one should proceed if
Pó de Mariposa
puts your opponent to sleep when you are under 50% health?

An easier Xu-Fu strat if you're a hardcore pet collector(have access to high end TCG pets)is a 2 pet team, Dragon Kite and Lil' Bling.
Start with Volcano(you're faster than him even without the Flying buff, and since his first cast is always moonfire,. you want to lead in with Volcano)
He casts moonfire, you cast Lightning storm, after Lightning storm he should finish off your kite.
With Lil Bling Start with Make it rain and watch him melt. I've only had to use Inflation maybe once, and if he's managed to get a feed off, with Inflation on him taking 100% more dmg in addition to the make it rain his hp literally disappears(he looks like he bugs out and his hp goes from 50% to dead)
Also for Yu'la you can solo with Bonkers P/S breed(thanks to the commentor on the Yu'la NPC section), don't take Tornado Punch take Haymaker and reset if it doesn't connect. Only use Evasion like you said during Lift-Off and just jab spam.

Fantastic guide and extremely helpful. I basically started from nothing a few weeks back and used your guide as a shopping list of sorts before I even zoned into the tournament. I now have most of the pets on your list, with a couple others mixed in that I like.
I have only 31 level 25 pets, and because of this guide I was able to beat the Tournament on my first try.
Taran Zhu was a little sketchy, I don't have my blighthawk leveled up yet, so I used a fungal abomination, probably not a great move, and I barely won.
Chi-chi was also pretty tense, I tried a dragon/magic damage group, Lil'Tarecgosa and I forget the others, but I got crushed. I ended up beating it by just bombing him with the Water Spirit and Corehound Pup (my Chrominius was already dead). The geyser/whirlpool/howl/burrow combo was enough to kill it, even with reduced damaged from burrow.

There's some very serious inadequacies in the pets you've chosen I'm afraid. In particular with Wrathion and Xu-fu. In a 'perfect' match scenario they will win, however, so far I've had to leave the instance three times, start over, and repair my pets either because of 1-2 misses or the pets just not doing hard enough damage to the enemy pet.
I would leave those two battles off the table until a more reliable team can be assembled to handle the job. Otherwise, people are just going to be wasting their time like I have now for an hour and half.
Beyond those two hiccups, good guide.

just wanted to add that the hardest random luck boss in here chi chi is made simple with just 2 spectral porcupettes.
use power ball/spirit spikes/spectral spine.
open with spirit ball twice to get your speed up and on 3rd turn use spirit spikes will be same turn boss does his evade move after that boss pretty much kills him self use spectral spine and than keep using power ball. if boss doesnt kill himself before you kill him with first porcupette bring out second and remember boss always uses the evasion move whenever its up so always time your spirit spikes during that. never even have to worry about second porcupette dieing to need a 3rd pet.

Great guide, really!
About the 4 celestials I would like to share my strategy that works 100% and it's actually the fastest I found.
SHOP LIST:
2x Pandaren Water Spirit
2x Chrominius
1x Darkmoon Tonk
1x Gregarious Grell (or 1x Mr. Bigglesworth)
1x Sen'jin Fetish
1x Disgusting Oozeling (Another ooze is fine)
1x Spectral Porcupette (you won't really need this...)
1) Yu'la
Gregarious Grell (Punch, Phase Shift when Lift off, Cauterize when under 800HP) can solo this one
2) Zao
Pandaren Water Spirit: Geyser, Whirpool (switch to Chrominius)
Chrominius: Howl, Bite, Surge of Power (Zao dies now)
Darkmoon Tonk: (never used)
3) Xu-Fu
1 TURN FASTER THAN ZAO!
(2nd) Pandaren Water Spirit: Geyser, Whirpool (switch to Chrominius)
(2nd) Chrominius: Howl, Surge of Power (Xu-Fu dies now)
Darkmoon Tonk: (never used)
NOTE: If Xu-Fu crits you (rare chance), just forfait ... you will need to heal your Zao Team at Chi-Chi. It won't crit you twice in the same day.
4) Chi-Chi (if something goes wrong, heal your pets here with group heal 1st ability, I use Red Cricket's "Inspiring Song")
Sen'jin Fetish: Wild Magic, Flame Breath until dies, Wild Magic on your immortal turn
Disgusting Oozeling: Acidic goo (first one will be dodged, do it again), Corrosion (there should be enough dots to kill Chi-Chi but your Ooze will be dead as well)
Spectral Porcupette (never used, but prepare Spirit Spikes against Quill in case of need)
I took this strategy from someone who posted it on youtube, kudos to him.
I have more problems with some trainers (RNG gods can be evil sometimes), but the 4 celestials are pushover.

I noticed, for Wise Mari, you have listed a
Rã
instead of the Strider you are using in your videos. The tactic also mention the use of Pump which frogs does not have. Was that a last hour change or just an oversight?
For the rest, it's an amazing guide, I managed to kill 5/7 in Celestial Tournament until I noticed that I forgot to level the pets for Yu'la :P
By the way, for leveling, you could try using
Ídolo Anubisath
+ S/S
Corvo
+
Guloseima para Mascotes Inferior
and go to the following combats:
Aki, a Escolhida
Fazendeira Nishi
Espírito Pandaren Fluido
Espírito Pandaren Flamejante
For the Burning Spirit I usually bring any acuatic pet as backup, just in case the Crow decides he's not hungry this day :P
I can get to level 24-25 any pet just in those 4 fights. It's once per day, but you have a really good chance to get pet stones. I usually farmed striders in the Vale but I can say I've never got a stone there since 5.2.

Seriously, thank you so much for this incredibly comprehensive and beautifully organised guide. I had a lot of level 25s but not quite the right ones, so I used it as a levelling list (and multi-tasked by levelling alts at the same time, so win-win).
I had dreadful RNG first try on Xu-Fu, so swapped for a howl bomb team after they were dead, but this week it worked a charm. I decided to use my Gilnean raven for Wise Mari's carp instead of the moth and he finished the carp off with over 1K health left. My favourite of your strategies is definitely Zao because of the way he heals to full health and then just
melts
down to zero. So very satisfying!

Thank you for this guide - followed it and have no problems beating the Celestial Tournament now.
If anyone is looking for a good place to level pets (you need to max out quite a few from level 1 for this guide) I levelled my team at
Mistfall village inn
in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms
There is a constant spawn of 5 level 24 or 25 eternal striders
immediately behind
the inn, plus more in the dried up riverbed nearby.
Advantages :
1. Eternal Striders almost always start with a buff - Healing Wave, Cleansing Rain, Pump. This means you can start with a level 1 pet and if they hit you can swap it out, finish the battle with two other level 25s and go from level 1 to 8 in one fight (Safari Hat + Lesser Pet Treat buff) ! If poor RNG kills your level 1 the stable master is 2 secs away.
2. The mobs are never anything other than Aquatic or Flying making your setup much quicker / easier.
3. Mistfall village inn has an instant logout inn function, mailbox and stable master (no need to use pet bandages) so you can do other stuff in between.
4. Since patch 5.4 Mistfall village is never under attack and there are no hostile mobs anywhere nearby behind the inn, the riverbed (if you outkill the spawn rate behind the inn) has a few crocs.
5. Location is close to either of the Shrine bases.
Might take a bit longer than other strategies but you have no travelling around.

Thanks for putting such a great guide together for all of us.
After some leveling some snails and a few other pets listed in your guide I was able to complete my first tourny.
One thing I did find was my Panda Monk was able to solo Yu'la!
Thanks again!

Thanks so much for this guide! Just tried the Celestial Tournament for the first time, and didn't even break a sweat thanks to this!
I had to substitute a few pets due to not having all the right ones, but the only fight that I was worried about was Yu'la, since I didn't have an available pet with Ascension (my Val'kyr having died previously, and my other undeads not having leveled enough to unlock it).
I was saved by the comments though. Looking through, I found suggestions for using Mr. Bigglesworth instead, and following them step by step, I was able to beat Yu'la without taking a single point of damage. The fight took longer, but in the end, she went down, and I got my first Celestial Coin!

Great guide, but have you considered replacements for rare and pet shop pets people may not have, like Bonkers and Pandaren Monk. I know a couple people who love doing pet battles, but they don't buy anything from the Blizzard store or AH so their pet list is restricted to wild battle pets. :) For people like me and 541 pets this is great though.

Fantastic guide, really grateful for its existence, as it helped me heaps! :) Or should I say, it actually made it possible for me to win this tournament. I'd just like to add 2 things that helped me, which others may find useful
1. against Chen Stormstout: instead of the Anubisath Idol I used
Chrominius
, mainly because Anubisath tends to miss with its Crush ability, and against Brewly I used
Ominous Flame
pet and its ability Nimbus to reduce the chance of missing
2. against Chi-Chi i once managed to win once by using the wisps, but then the next time failed and decided to try 2 snails and a
Jade Oozeling
, which worked quite well

Very well done guide. When Cho, Goldbloom & McLeary were the trainers I could not defeat Xu-Fu using the guide...not enough firepower and extra pet combos to use. I switched to the all snail tactic vs Chi-Chi and used Unborn Valkyr, Alpine Foxling Kit and Lil Bling on Xu-Fu...worked like a charm and got my first tournament win.

Using this Guide, I was having a very hard time with Taran Zhu using the original pets. I easily beat him with:
Creepy Crate (Agony, Curse of Doom, Bonestorm)
Molten Hatchling (Leech Life, Cauterize<-not used, Brittle Webbing)
Elder Python (Poison Fang, Sting, Burrow.
Used in the above order Open with Bonestorm, and keep using Agony until he is going to switch, (50% health). You need to have Curse of Doom on him when he switches pets.
Keep the crate in until he goes down using Bonestorm when it's ready, same with Curse of Doom.
Bring in the spider using Brittle webbing and Leech Life till he's dead.
Bring in the snake. Poison your target with both Poison Fang, and Sting, then Burrow. Keep the poison flowing until burrow is ready and use it. Rinse & repeat.
This was VERY effective.

Very few, if any, of these strategies work 5.4.2. Zero room for crits/missing on fights like Chen. Blighthawk's attacks are way to high miss chance to be reliable.

For Blingtron 4000, you should replace Searing Scorchling with Harbinger of Flame.
- Less speed, which does not matter since Lil' B is faster than both pets.
- Higher HP and attack.
- Same abilities.
- WAY easier to get!

I bow to your guide. I have so many pets leveled, but I'm so used to using primarily the same ones time and again. Your guide is really helping me understand my pets better so that I can form some of my own new strategies.
Note: Your original Wise Mari strategy still shows instructions that say, "If somehow kills your Moth, bring Aqua Strider out to finish him off with Pump." I was consternated by this at first since the strategy uses a frog, but I searched the comments and noted that you had addressed this previously. I only bring it up since the instructions have never been edited to match the pet swap.
Again, thank you so very much for your super marvelous guide! I'm a forever fan.

This guide looks great! I just wanted to suggest something for possible improvement of this guide, if you are interested:
It would be helpful at the start to have a table of contents with page anchors, just so the reader knows what to expect. Second, a clear description of what the tournament is, for those who don't know, and what exactly occurs during the entirety of it.
Just a thought :) I hope this is helpful!

Just wanted to drop a note regarding Core Hound Pup seen on Blingtron 4000. For those that don't have this pet (or perhaps even those that do!) Lil' Bad Wolf is a great choice since you don't have to worry about rng of burrow missing. Howl + Claw x2 is usually enough to take him down. Save Dodge for Lil' B's opening, then Howl.

I noticed that a lot of these guides share the same pet, for example Sunreaver Micro and Zeppelin are in two battles.
Do I need to level up a second one of them to do the celestials? I managed to kill the 3 tamers I got with the above teams, but most if not all the pets were dead.
I thought originally you'd be able to heal after each battle or at least the game would heal you.
Comentado por

On Wise Mari's original guide, under turn 14 has a mistake
"River should die at this point, or from another couple Alpha Strikes.
If he somehow kills your Moth, bring Aqua Strider out to finish him off with Pump"
The pet in the guide is actually the frog, not an aqua strider :D

Amazing guide! I beat them on my first try after reading this...after running into brick walls with 15 max level pets the first time and again with 50 max levels, this time I came in with 75 max levels and fully prepared for war.
I made some substitutions to use some easier to obtain pets and I had fantastic results. The first 3 trainers are easy to use trial and error to build teams so I'll just share my subs for the final 4 pets:
For Xu-Fu I used a Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling instead of the Darkmoon Zeppelin. They are much cheaper on the auction house and have the crucial decoy move and more than enough DPS to do the job.
For Yu-La I used a Flayer Youngling(P/S) instead of Bonkers and had a cakewalk stunning with every kick and deflecting every Lift-Off. These guys are plentiful in the mountains between Hellfire Peninsula and Shadowmoon Valley. I'll probably use a Kun-Lai Runt instead of the Pandaren Monk next time just because I feel dirty using my paid-for pets(lol).
For Zao no changes had to be made but I almost came to tears when my Sentry died and Zao healed to nearly full health. I was sure I had messed up somewhere, but sure enough the Zandalari Anklerender DESTROYED him with ease.
Chi-Chi no changes either. Fantastic strategy.
Thanks so much man. Winning the Celestial Tournament feels like just winning the Pokemon League back in 1998 or w/e playing Pokemon Blue, although to be honest I've put way more hours into building my pet team than I ever put into that game I'm afraid.

As most other people have said, this is a fantastic guide, and I thank you for all the time and effort you put into making it.
I'd just like to add my own tip, and I apologize if it has already been mentioned, but I didn't see it anywhere; While the tournament restricts healing outside of combat, you can still heal in combat, and certain trainers (Lorewalker Cho, for example) ALWAYS start with a non-damaging ability, so using a pet such as my beloved Red Cricket with its Inspiring Song, you can enter combat, use inspiring song to heal your pets, forfeit and repeat until all of your pets are in peak condition. It made be feel a bit dirty using such an exploit, but I did not have a large stable of level 25s to see me through and I couldn't bear waiting any longer to get my hands on that gorgeous black ox, Zao.
Another tip I have is for Little Tommy; I used the Clockwork Gnome and Chrominius -
Start with the Gnome, use turret turn 1.
Ooondasta will then drag out Chrominius if it's your second pet, so use Howl followed by Surge of Power.
Chrominius dies immediately after using Surge, so swap to the Gnome and build a second turret.
If the Gnome is still alive, use Metal Fist till either the Gnome dies or Turret comes off CD.
Now, usually the Gnome will finish off Oondasta, but if by some chance it outlives the Gnome, swap to whatever third pet you have chosen. I go with Lil' XT, but just about any pet, preferably mechanical, will do.
As an aside, might I also suggest adding what each enemy pet does during their turns, if at all possible? I understand that this is a lot of extra work, but for those of us who have had no luck catching a rare of a particular counter-pet (an Unborn Val'kyr of ANY rarity still eludes me), it allows us to better plan on what to bring instead.

I just had the Xu-Fu strategy fail me, so I had to find an alternate set of pets to get it done. Fortunately, I found my Fjord Worg Pup has the same moveset as the Alpine Fox. I took a risk using a level 20 Arctic Fox Kit as the 2nd pet and one of my Darkmoon Tonks as the finisher.
Admittedly, I did catch a big break when his Feed missed my fox. I was prepared to use Shock and Awe, followed up by the Ion Cannon after the fox died, but instead, I was able to sub in the Tonk with Howl still up and he was at around 600HP. Shock and Awe finished him in one shot.

I'd like to recommend for anyone doing the Yu'La fight, instead of using a Bonkers or other Humanoid pet, you can get a Clock 'Em and have an easier time. At level 25, his speed in 289, which does give him that first attack each round. With a Jab>Counter Strike (or Overtune)>Dodge moveset, and Unholy Ascension debuff on Yu'La, you should have no problem winning this fight. Just save the Dodge move for whenever she lifts off
Or if you are feeling really frisky, try using Haymaker instead of Jab... :)

Crawling Claw 111
Rapana Whelk 221
Amber Moth 212
Taran Zhu begins with
Yen
You begin with
Crawling Claw
Curse of Doom
switch to
Rapana Whelk
Pass or Shell Shield (you will get stunned)
Absorb
Dive (on 2 ticks till Curse of Doom falls so dive hits on the same round (Yen is faster))
Yen dies or so close to dead when he feign dead next round
Switch to
Crawling claw
Ancient Blessing
Curse of Doom
Switch to
Moth
Moth
Cocoon Strike
Alpha Strike
till moth dies :(((
.....
rest of it u rap up with
Crawling Claw
curse of doom and
Rapana Whelk
.
Will try to follow up more net time i fight Taran Zhu.

i used the pets like this:

metal fist (gnome dead)
howl
Surge of power
Xu-Fu is now dead
as Xu-Fu is faster than my chrominius and he missed his last attack i dont know if my chrominius would have died normaly.

For those like me who did not know what s/s was
Using Letters to Represent Breed ID
It's not easy to remember which breed IDs stand for which stat allocations. As a result, many websites and pet battle resources are using a two-letter system as a way of expressing each breed ID in a more recognizable format. The most notable of these resources is MMOSimca's Battle Pet BreedID addon, which displays the breed of your pets in-game.
The breed ID letter system uses the following letters to convey a pet's breed:
H = Health
P = Power
S = Speed
B = Balance
Each letter is paired with another to represnt its breed. For example, H/H means the pet has a double dose of Health (0/20/0: breeds 6 and 16). P/B indicates Power mixed with Balance (4/9/4: breeds 10 and 20). B/B represents across-the-board Balance (5/5/5: breeds 3 and 13). See the complete list below.
BREED LETTERS H/P/S
4/14 → P/P = 0/20/0
5/15 → S/S = 0/0/20
6/16 → H/H = 20/0/0
7/17 → H/P = 9/9/0
8/18 → P/S = 0/9/9
9/19 → H/S = 9/0/9
10/20 → P/B = 4/9/4
11/21 → S/B = 4/4/9
12/22 → H/B = 9/4/4
3/13 → B/B = 5/5/5
We've also adopted the letter system to show the breeds when hovering over a pet while browsing a user's pet collection.

well, i did started to use this guide, and someone told me its just waste of time, and i asked him why, and he gave me a short way to all this list of pets:
you need: Terrible Turnip, Chrominius, Spirit water, undead pet with curse of doom and haunt spells like unborn val'kyr, thats my team for the 4 celestial pets u fight on the end, so the trainers before are esey to win with allmost any pets u maxed, i prefer to use Anubisath Idol on few fights since he last long time for any fight, and just get some pets that u alredy lvl to max that will counter the trainers pets, simple as that.
for celstial im using all 4 pets above: you start with unborn val'kyr---> curse of doom--->haunt, she die u switch to water spirit--->geyser--->whirlpool, switch to Chrominius---> howl..
at this point the celestial will die or have less hp for one more strike, so just use any of the Chrominius attakes, now your pets are less hp, what you doing ?
you using Terrible Turnip to heal them, taking Terrible Turnip with 2 pets u wanna heal, start fight with any of the celestial, use heal, then forfit, do that again all the times until u heal to max, then change to your third pet to heal him also, and u good to go for next match.
(all pets must be max lvl and rare type to make it work smooth)
sometime the celestial have luck of missing attakes from our side, or kill the pets before u did the instruction above, so its better to have always more of the pets i said above..
i wish you the best of luck, deadlaserman...

Having not read or understood enough, I didn't realize it was a two part "adventure". I was very sad when I finally beat the first 3 guys, only to have PART 2 pop up with some REALLY difficult fights (all my own fault for not paying more attention!)! Like someone else said, I'll be going out and leveling all the pets you have suggested before returning!
Here is one helpful tidbit:
On the Doctor Ion Goldblum fight, you may also substitute the
Rotten Little Helper
(humanoid, not mechanical though he does have some very mech-like attacks) instead of the Warbot (in combination/strategy with the other two suggested pets). Though my Rotten Little Helper was only level 20, the team defeated Ion Goldbloom every time.

W.T.Flock is ridiculously subject to rng. It does NOT work more than 50% of the time so far in practice. Azure Crane Chick is either NOT a suitable replacement to the Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling, or the strat needs an overhaul. If you do not get a luck miss from Xu-Fu somewhere along the line with the Flocker, you will lose.

Using
Lambreta, a lesma
I followed the first few steps as written in the new snail guide:
Meleca Ácida
>
Toque Gosmento
>
Mergulho
>
Meleca Ácida
>
Toque Gosmento
.. at this point my snail died, but bring in a pet that has
Surto de Poder
and you can finish Chi-chi off here. I personally used
Pernas
. But also
Dragonetinho Lazúli
and
Chrominius
could come in here too.. (that's if you've not used them in the previous rounds of course).
In my first stage I had the Blingtron/Kiryn/Mari lineup, so I managed (luckily) to avoid the use of Scooter and the others I mentioned above.

Pet battling seemed a little overwhelming when it first came out, so I stayed away from it for a while. But the achievements finally called to me loudly enough that I listened and I started doing it. Boring at first, but when I focused on catching rares and getting the Zookeeper title, the leveling becomes less monotonous until I got to level 15 and started fighting three at a time. I saw this guide a while ago, which kind of guided which rares I leveled up in my quest to catch a rare of everything, which I am now one pet shy of doing (freaking Qiraji Guardling...). It didn't take as long as I thought it would either.
I have reviewed your guide and used its suggestions to successfully (and rather easily) complete the Celestial Tournament twice now. A few of these fights can suffer from bad RNG, but I won't say I haven't also won a few from good RNG. So thanks for making this guide and making it easy for us to get our celestial pets.

In your alternates list, Amber Moth should be listed as seen in Original Wise Mari.
I'm compiling a levelling list for myself, and realised that there were several places where you use multiple pets of the same type: Amber Moth, Frog, Fox, several snails if using the snail strat, etc. I know you give a healing strategy, but I think it'll be safer if I just have enough duplicates to cover the strats I've decided to use.
Ahh, just realised that Sully and Wise Mari are in different groups so I shouldn't need duplicate Amber Moths and Frogs, yes? But a spare Fox is needed for Original Xu-Fu and several snails for Snailception + Taran Zhu.
Excellent guide, thanks!
(H = health, P = power, S = speed, B = balance)

I'd like to add a suggestion to the Snailception strategy for Chi-Chi:
My strategy with 3 snails is to always have the dive available for ethereal countering, so the rotation would be, more or less:
acidic goo
ooze touch
dive
switch to 2nd snail
acidic goo
dive
switch to 3rd snail
acidic goo
dive
switch to 1st snail

I like how your alternate strategies are including harder to get pets! We spend hours farming/camping and leveling the rare ones and most guides (understandably) only show strategies for common easy to get pets. It's nice to see where you can use them in a battle and see them be as useful as they are rare:)

Hi!
I'm new to computer gaming in general and WoW in particular. My main is in Outland, one alt did the 90 boost from the WoD pre-order, and she's sitting on the Timeless Isle, literally shakin' in her boots, and there's an all but abandoned gonna-be-an-Alchemist-alt waiting somewhere in Teldrassil for me to get my act together.
So, why am I here? I've just fallen in love with Pet Battles. Serendipity gave me a rare skunk on my very first battle and I've been hunting rares ever since. Which means of course I killed one, in my excitement to finally locate it, I forgot all about the trapping. Never mind I had three level 9 to 11 pets taking on the teams in Terokkar Forest! doh!
I've been reading the internets today looking for something on Timeless Isle to do that won't be too scary, when I found your guide. Of course the first thing I read was no more Snowy Owls 'til next winter and a wait 'til June for the summer Qiraji Guardling. Seasonal Pets! But of course! Are these two the only ones or are there more? Is there a guide or a list somewhere you could point me to?
I've perused this guide, gotta lot of work to do before I start in on the Celestial Tournament but at least now I have a shopping guide of pets to look for as I level my main and my alt. One thing the 90-boosts are good for of course is running around looking for pets and recipes for the "real" toons! Spent four hours lost on Kalimdor looking for a fairy dragon sprite. Never did find them but saw some really cool places and learned a lot. Mainly that my navigation sucks!
So to recap my questions and prise them out of all the babble:
1. How many seasonal pets are there? Is there a list somewhere?
Off now to read your list in detail and see which ones are near where my two real toons are hanging out. Thanks for taking the time to consider my questions. Hope I'm not breaking too many rules with this post.
Nor.

Another alternative strategy for
Pequeno Tommy Newcomer
's
Oondastazinho
:
1st pet: lvl25
Gnomo Movido à Corda
with
Punho de Ferro
,
Consertar
&
Construir Torreta
.
2nd pet: lvl25
Yeti Mecânico Pacato
with
Punho de Ferro
,
Chamar Raio
&
Canhão Iônico
.
3rd pet: <lvl25 pet you want to level.
Unless you're really unlucky, your first two pets will be able to take care of Oondasta or at the very least bring him down enough so that your third pet can finish him off. Your third pet must be able to survive the splash damage from Oondasta's
Feixe de Fogo Espiritual
, which he will cast multiple times during the fight. Also it helps to have a speed higher than Oondasta (319), so you can finish him off without needing to survive a hit first. Depending on your pet's level and if you have any pet xp buffs, you can get around 1.5k xp this way.
Open with your Clockwork Gnome, build a turret. Gnome gets swapped for Yeti. Change weather to Lightning Storm, then spam Metal Fist until Yeti dies and his failsafe kicks in. Now use Ion Cannon. Oondasta then kills Yeti and you can switch back to your Gnome to build another turret and perhaps cast a Metal Fist if needed. When ready, bring out your sub-25 pet and finish off Oondasta. Keep an eye on Oondasta's spell cooldowns so you know what is coming when. Sometimes it's better to skip a turn with your gnome to let him soak the
Impacto do Rufo
and bring out your sub-25 pet.

The Nodrassil Wisp strategy against Chi-Chi seem utterly broken to me. I've tried it twice and they get massacred. Ethereal always goes first and Chi-Chi is faster if at over half life, and his heals are pretty heavy. The Wisps don't stand a snowballs chance in hell.

Compliments before problems - Fantastic Guide, THANK YOU!
The first time I did the tournament using this guide, it all went well and I only had problems with one match where I had to adjust the pets.
Last night I did my second attempt and was completely successful up until I got to Xu-Fu. He was my 3rd to the last battle to win the tournament and complete my quest. After unsuccessful tries, I did the other 2 Celestial kiddies so that I would have access to any pets that survived those battles.
Over 80 pet deaths later I was down to no one left alive that was "old" enough and strong enough but Critters. Since 2 of 3 of his attacks are specifically good against Critters it didn't take long to finally convince me to give up - with just the one pet to go - Bummer! Thank Goodness the Stable Master doesn't care how many pets have to be revived!
What changed, you ask, between last week and this week? Xu hit with a Crit on every he threw, allowing him to bring himself back to full or near to full health every time he used it! I finally gave up at 2 AM my time and went to bed. /sigh Going to try again today. I am hopeful it was a bug and he will behave like he did last time, and like he did in the video that I just watched here. I watched his health in the video and I remembered correctly; he did not crit over 1000 hit points with every single . But in my battles last night he did. In one match he killed Swamp Croaker in one shot when he first came out for over 1600 and came back to deal over 1200 to the next pet!
The Swamp Croaker has which is why I put him in. I only see that ability on him. Going to try a team with him. Or a couple of them? lol IDK. Xu did well against all families last night, including Aquatic. But I guess I'll level my other 2 up to 25 and give it a shot.
Xu killed my Jade Dancer immediately, too, before she could cast to help me fight back. Maybe she will get a chance to cast it if gets used: I swear the computer makes us show our next attack so it can counter before it is thrown!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the opportunity to "talk" about this with someone. I am surprised how much it helps to get it out there where you can read it and see it more clearly!

I have found that using the sunreaver micro centry on Zao usually has the disadvantage that when it first dies, it comes back to life.
This means it takes longer for the Zandalari to come in, sometimes with only 1 or 2 rounds left on lightning storm, if Zao misses.
When using the Wild Golden Hatchling I use tailslap or whirlwind first, then lightning storm, next round the Hatchling dies and Zandalari finish it in 2 rounds with just 1 Zandalari used.

On a side note , one thing I've really appreciated about your guide is that I have learned about pet abilities and how they interact with each other. Before I mostly just like a pet because it was cute and had no thought to any other aspect.

Thanks for putting this together!
I saw you're having trouble with a cageable Blingtron team, here's a combo I've found works more often than not:
1) (I used Water Strider or Sea Pony, but I think any could work)
2) Electrified Razortooth (I believe I had best results with Rip, Shock, and Devour, since it is strong against the 2nd and 3rd opponents, but different combos have worked for me)
3) Spirit of Summer
Usually most of the team doesn't survive, but maybe you'll have more luck with it, hope this helps.

On Yu'la, Flayer Youngling will NOT work - its humanoid attack deals less damage than her shield. So I ended up using Howlbomb with my trusty Menagerie Custodian as last pet. Geyser - Whirlpool - Howl - Bite - Surge of Power - Shock and Awe and she was dead.

I collect pets but I don't pet battle, so with that in mind, I kept this guide tabbed in this entire week, leveling various pets suggested by it. I realized it'd take too long to level
everything
that I needed, so I checked the tournament to see what trainers were up that week, so that I could level the pets in priority.
After several days of pet battle dailies, I didn't have enough upgrade stones for everything... so I just did what I could and ran into the tourny regardless, hoping for the best.
I admittedly messed up once immediately upon entering (twice if you include the fact that I forgot stones de-level your pets...oops), but on the second 'official' try, I managed to get through everything (mess ups and all) to actually complete it.
While I'm unsure of which pet to get first (boyfriend's persistent about chi-chi but xu-fu looks amazing), none of it would be possible without stumbling upon this guide \o/
I NEVER intended to do this, ever, simply because I knew that I did not have the pets for it, did not have an idea of what I needed, knew it'd be too time consuming to go off of partial tips given by other people or incomplete strats, and so I just wanted to say thanks because this is a rare occasion when a guide has actually inspired me to do something... and properly, at that.
As I said, I don't do pet battles... I am the type of person that rages if RNG dislikes me and something goes wrong on the dailies.
So the fact that I managed to do this, thanks to your help (and users submitting extra info, even), just made me want to try to explain how much I appreciate it!
So... THANK YOU! You have no idea how grateful I am for this ♥
(and sorry for the wall of text)

Wow I dont think ive seen anything quite like this. I mean I searched for many sites containing info on pets and I found it difficult to navigate them without becoming increasingly frustrated with terminology I didn't understand.
I've been using wow head for years and never realized that these kind of guides existed. You've really gone above and beyond to provide not only accurate up to date information but information that you adjust as better strategies become available. I expressly love the way you take other people opinions into consideration its a rare quality in the gaming world.
I hope you continue to provide up to date info as it becomes available because your exceptional at relaying it to us simply and effectively. I started from the first pet and worked my way through your guide Step by step and through the course of this learnt more than i knew even existed in the world of pet battles.
I'm not a gamer by any means so the more info I have the more confident I become Thank you for putting the excitement back into my wow I honestly had thrown my hands up at pet battling and was practically going to ignore it existed till my Son insisted I collect for him.....well one thing led to another and I found your guide.... Excellent guide; these strats have definitely made my life in the Celestial Tournament easier.
Looking through your strats, I noticed that you haven't listed a cageable strat for Blingtron 4000 yet.
All three of the pets in your Crabbit strategy have cageable alternatives which I have taken the liberty of assembling below (may not be all-inclusive).
Arctic Hare - Brown Rabbit, Snowshoe Rabbit and Spring Rabbit all have the Flurry/Dodge/Burrow moveset and speeds above 273.
Emperor Crab - Shore Crawler and Strand Crawler both have the Snap/Healing Wave/Shell Shield moveset.
Lava Crab - Pandaren Fire Spirit, Phoenix Hatchling, Searing Scorchling, and Spirit of Summer all have the Burn/Cauterize/Conflagrate moveset.
I haven't tested any of these myself yet; this is just me pointing at things that look workable that you may or may not have already considered in the course of coming up with Crabbit.
Good luck with any further testing you have in the works!

Turn 2: Shadow Shock
Turn 3: Pass
Turn 4: Shadow Shock
Turn 5: Unholy Ascension - use when Chi-Chi has a 2 round cool down left on Ethereal and Curse of Doom has 1 turn before detonating
Bring out Deathy
Turn 6: Call Darkness
Turn 7: Roar
Turn 8: Punch
Turn 9: Punch
(Deathy should be finished here - Punch again if alive)

You can substitute the Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling in the Xuen strategy for Menagerie Custodian, with Zap, Shock and Awe, and Ion Cannon. I didn't have a non-critter pet with a speed stat of 305+ that also had stampede so I went with the mechanical bulldozer. Worked pretty well.
I DID have a lucky miss when I first brought out the Darkmoon Zeppelin, so take that into account.

So if your out of everything and your cursing the yu'la fight send in 2 rabbits both with at least one speed stat.
burrow the lift off dodge right after he lands he will hit you once then re apply his shield and lift off. just chip away at him with scratch. 3rd pet is optional your rabbits will eat him alive.
Tim: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit.
King Arthur: Ohh.
Tim: That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
Sir Robin: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
Tim: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: He'll do you up a treat, mate.
Sir Galahad: Oh, yeah?
Sir Robin: You manky Scots git!
Tim: I'm warning you!

Tim: He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!

I came up with another Xuen strategy (after a lucky crit, TWICE, killed both of my previously prepared teams.) This is heavily based on the standard strategy for Aki the Chosen. I did not real all the comments
1. Any pet with Call Lightning, ideally slower than Xuen (I used the Jade Hatchling)
2. Clockwork Gnome (1, _, 1)
3. S/S Cogblade Raptor (2, _, 1) (Other breeds may work, but you want to be faster than Xuen for Batter. My raptor's S/S, so that's the breed I used.)
And how you do this is Call Lightning to overwrite Moonlight, swap to gnome, Turret, swap to raptor, Exposed Wounds, Batter, Batter. If your raptor dies you should swap back to the gnome and summon another Turret, but mine didn't die.
If your Call Lightning pet IS faster than Xuen, using a filler ability on turn 1 and CL on turn two ought to still work.
(I also killed Chi-Chi with one snail and one emerald proto-whelp, but I don't know if proto-whelp vs. any AI tamer counts as "strategy." ;) )

Just a suggestion, for the cageable
Xu-Fu, Filhote de Xuen
strategy, instead of reusing Sunreaver Micro Sentry, use the
Yeti Mecânico Pacato
instead.
the Yeti is slower than Xu-Fu, so it can call lightening to start the battle
the Yeti has a slightly lower power (273 v 325) but that's a difference of 60 dmg on the initial
Chamar Raio
and 5 dmg per hit, easily compensated for by
Blingzinho
and
Tonque de Negraluna
.
if something goes wrong and an ability misses, the Yeti has an Ion Cannon to clean up
Keeps the Micro Sentry full health for use against Zao (or full health coming in vs Xu-Fu depending on which you attack first)

Thanks so much for the guide :) I love your style/formatting and all the detail you've put into this is great.
I'm still trying to earn up my battle team, and I was a bit confused while looking at the original strategy for Xu-Fu with the foxes.
The second fox is listed as just "Fox (P/S is best)". I believe that
Raposinha do Ártico
is the only P/S fox which I didn't realize for a while - maybe "Fox - Arctic Fox Kit is best" would be more helpful? Also I had a hard time reading the alternative pets section for that particular pet since
Raposinha do Ártico
is listed there rather than "Fox".

Zao = Easily soloable with one Lil Bling. Works every time.
Xu-Fu = Blingbomb.
I love your two strategies on Chi-Chi and Yu'la, very good. I like to use Haunt instead of Ascension with my Valkyr though, it gives you a second use of her later on if one of your wisps goes down. Give it a try! Very reliable.
Thanks so much for such a great guide! You're so self-deprecating, but it looks great and has always had the info I needed. You rock!

So some substitutions for the Cageable strategies I worked out today (because I was helping out a friend and didn't have everything recommended at level 25):
Ion Goldbloom:
Sprite Darter Hatchling for Lesser Voidcaller. Arcane Blast/doesn't matter/Moonfire. Just needs to chew through the first half of Screamer's health and the other two pets can take care of the rest; I've actually substituted Thunderbolt on the MPD so that if Screamer somehow survives to a second Feign Death, it'll die on the back line.
Sully:
Wood Frog for Mojo. Functionally identical.
Chi-Chi:
Gu'chi Swarmling for Giant Sewer Rat. Swarm/Chew/Burrow. The fun here is using Chew on Chi-Chi's Ethereal round and then following with a Swarm, so Chew lands during Shattered Defenses.
Yu'la:
No cageable strategy yet, but we made do with my Ghostly Skull and his Feral Vermling (for Crush/Backflip) and Anubisath Idol. I think a Ghostly Skull, Dandelion Frolicker (Bite/Frolick/Kick), and Anubisath Idol might be able to do it. Have the Frolicker use Kick when Emerald Presence falls off.

But I've got a question. Does it matter which breed id the pets are? For example Bonkers:
Does it matter if he is H/P, P/P, S/S, P/S or H/S? In the list stands nothing. :(

I use the This Little Piggy strategy for Taran Zhu but I use Creepy Crate instead of Wiggles (so I call it This little Creepy). Curse of Doom, Agony, Bone storm, switch to Lesser Void with COD + Prismatic switch to Stitched Pup Howl + Plagued Blood for Bolo then rinse repeat for Lin. Yen dies of Agony and never returns after Creepy Crate. Works great.
For Little Tommy I use Tranquil Mechanical Yeti, Treasure Goblin and Little Bling. Tranquil is just there to use Call Lightning before the switch, Treasure Goblin comes in for Wild Magic then coin toss. He usually dies after that but if he doesn't just use portal for Lil' Bling. Bling uses Make it Rain then Inflation. Works every time and best of all it takes less than a minute.

I tried a new pet team for Chi-Chi tonight and it worked like a CHARM!
Follow the guide with the Unborn Val'kyr. Use it as the guide says. For your second pet use a Toxic Wasteling, and the third pet a Viscidus Globule.
For the Wasteling, use attacks 1,1,2.
Globule uses 2,2,2.
After the Val'kyr is gone bring in the Wasteling. Use Acidic Goo, then Corrosion, then Spam Ooze Touch until dead.
I brought the Globule in, used one Creeping Ooze and Chi-Chi was down for the count.
This is the easiest Chi-Chi fight I have ever had.

Brilliant guide. I'd like to add that if you don't have Core Hound Pup you can use Electrified Razortooth in it's place, and if you don't have Terrible Turnip you can use Death Talon Whelpguard instead. The fights might be a little closer than the suggested but it's still very much possible.

Little Tommy Newcomer is easily beatable with Darkmoon Zeppelin, Pocket Reaver and Menagerie Custodian.
Fight should look like this:
(his)
1 - (Frill Blast)
2 - (Spiritfire Beam)
3 - (Crush)
4 - (Crush)
5 - (Crush will be used on Pocket Reaver)
Next, bring out Pocket Reaver.
1 - (Crush from previous turn)
2 - (Frill Blast)
Menagerie Custodian should be forced out now.
- If he has more than 550 HP use Shock and Awe then Ion Cannon
- If he has less than 550 HP use Ion Cannon
The crucial part is timing your Darkmoon Zeppelin's attacks so that your opponent doesn't use Frill Blast on it.
This strategy works everytime against him, providing you time it correctly.

I found that for Taran Zhu, Fossilized Hatchling, Blighthawk, and then Rapana Whelk works fine. Using the hatchling's Bonestorm works great at doing 1 to 1.2k party wide damage, and can be used twice before the hatchling dies (once at start of round, once right after he revives himself). The Death and decay DoT does a good 100 damage each round. I was able to do the entire battle with my hatchling going out first (he died the round before fiegn death was used, so I was able to use fly during feign death, which then helped me avoid blinding powder), and then my plague hawk using infected claw to kill Bolo and Li (they were down to about half health when both came in due to Bonestorm, and then I used Ghostly bite on Yen (which after his healing brought him down to about 400 health), to where 2 absorbs from my whelk killed him. I had no strategy other than "Do what was logical" and to take the Blighthawk and Rapana Whelk from the suggested list of pets to use. Take note I didn't crit once, and I missed 1 of my infected claws. If I managed to crit something and didn't miss the claw, chances are I wouldn't of had to use my Whelk at all.
In all likelihood, it can easily be done with 2 Fossilized hatchlings, which leaves a spot open if you wanna get some experience on a level 20+ pet :P

You can actually solo Yu'la with Clock'em (obtained from brawler's guild). Just use Dodge to avoid the lift-off and otherwise just keep spamming Jab until its dead. There is slight rng involved in that if Jab misses more than once then clock'em will die first, but even in that case you shouldn't need more than one hit from whatever other pets your using.

I can't thank you enough for this guide!
I was using wowpetbattle.com for all my information about the tournament. I ended up getting super frustrated and at a loss as to where to go from there since the majority of the pets they used were hard to obtain pets (like the Darkmoon Rabbit).
I had basically given up on the tournament; putting the Calfling of Niuzao on the "Want but will never have" list and tried to move on. Which made me very sad, because that whole storyline tied with the tanks really meant a lot to me, and having the Calfling by my side while I tank would have been the best feeling ever.
Then I found your guide one day while surfing through Wowhead, in a last ditch effort to find a way through the tournament. Your list of pets was extremely helpful! And then if I didn't have a certain pet, there was a list for that too!
I then went through and revamped my favorites list to see what all needed leveled/up-graded.
Its taken me some time (I'm a slow leveler. ;>.> ), but I'm getting close to having everything I need for the tournament! As I get closer and closer, my excitement grows for finally being able to reach my goal.
And for that, thank you. A million times over, thank you.

I have a suggestion to change out the Zao team. Mine is based on your guide, but I've traded out the Sunreaver Microsentry for the Tiny Twister.
This strategy sacrifices the Tiny Twister, but also wins in just 5 turns - every time.
Round 1: Call Lightning
Round 2: Fly By
Round 3: Wild Winds - Tiny Twister survives attack, dies to Zao's DoT afterwards.
Bring in either of the Zandalari pets.
Round 4: Black Claw
Round 5: Hunting Party
Between Wild Winds and Hunting Party, both buffed by Fly By, Call Lightning and Black Claw, Zao goes down hard - there is no Round 6.
Thank you for such an amazing guide! You are the reason why I now have each of the 4 celestial pets. :-)
Also of note: For the Xu Fu strategy involving foxes, I'm using a P/S and a P/B fox and since the first fox to go will always take the full hit from round 1, their speed actually doesn't matter - once you cast Dazzling Dance with the first fox, your team will now always go first no matter what. Might be worthwhile to remove that caveat.
Also, for Taran Zhu, I highly recommend the Tiny Sporebat for Li - Ghostly Strike and Creeping Fungus make quick work of both him and Bolo, while being resistant to at least one of their attacks as a flyer.

So I don't know what I'm doing wrong... but after 3-4 tries I can't get through the scenario.
Last week was Wise Mari, Blingtron, and Kiryn.
My team for Blingtron using the Crabbit strategy:
Tolai Hare Pup S/B
Shore Crab H/H
Phoenix Hatchling H/H
My team for Kiryn using the original strategy:
Gusting Grimoire H/B
Terrible Turnip P/S
Darkmoon Tonk H/P
All pets 25 and rare. I've been following the strats step by step and just can't keep up. I might win one, but then lose the other... and since pets dying is part of the strategy, my only choice is to leave and start over, which became very frustrating very quickly.
Any pointers?

The celestial guide is so impressive, you deserve all the praise you get for it.
I've been doing the tournament for 4 weeks now and the celestial round never fails in any way.
I only face problems RNG based problems with the pre-round.
Especially Taran Zhu, one miss and I can basically start all over, which is why I do him first. I couldn't try the other 2 guides for Taran Zhu since I lack the darkmoon rabbit and mr. wiggles. I'm sure once I have those the RNG based problems will vanish. :)
I've been using the undead technique (suggested in the NPC page) with the crate, fozziled hatchling and blighthawk) and this seems to work for me.
Thank you a lot for all your work. Without you I'd probably never won this tournament.

... I don't think you realize exactly what you're saying is needed for your guide. 36 pets minimum leveled to 25, many of which are worth upwards of 10k gold each or are rare drop chances from current tier end game content? That's ~100k gold and/or hundreds of hours of leveling.
There has to be an easier way.

This guide has helped me! Thanks for a very nice, well designed and easy to get what you need out of it. Not sure that it could be anymore helpful than it is! I trusted it so much that I took a couple days and a week at total just to level these pets in said guide.
While the Guide on
Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-Ji
has helped me defeat it, I found myself having to restart the whole celestial tournament a few times. But keep in mind i was a newbie at it. One of those times I didn't restart it and tried a few extra pets I had. I just want to share my odd combo of pets i've used that not only won against
Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-Ji
I've messed up their rotations and have still won with them.
Going to try the Swarming dead strategy when I feel up to leveling more, my wisps must not be good enough :(
Netherspace Abyssal
Meteor Strike
and anything else in between until you feel he will die use:
Explode
I've had him die before i could use it and still won
Gulp Froglet
Toxic Skin
use
Frog Kiss
until you feel he will die but on the safe side maybe use just once.
Corpse Explosion
Kun-Lai Runt
Deep Freeze
Mangle
Punch

*Oh and on another note I came back to write that thanks to this guide I have two of the celestial pets
Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-ji

Simular start to listed (Sunreaver, thunderstorm, Fel Immobulate), but then..swap in Rabid Nut Virmin 3000.....Rabid, followed by 2 Metal Fist kills it before wish, and outside a random Metal fist missing (has 95% chance to hit), is a garrenteed kill without losing a minion

Hey mel.
Thanks for a fabulous guide!
I tried the Celestial Tournament ONCE, having to back out when there was only Yu'La and Xu'fu left.
Simply ran out of lvl 25 pets. Hahaha. :D
Anyways; Being the lazy perfectionist I am, I immediately turned to one of my good friends called Mr. Google and he showed me this guide. At first I was sceptical that the first link would actually work, since Mr. Google usually play pranks every now and again, but this time he was spot on!
Tried the tournament again and completed with only 6 pets dying in total. :D
Anyways. That was last week.
This week I have the trio including Wise Mari and I quickly noticed how I literally had none of the pets listed as lvl 25 rares.
So I had to figure out what you used in your tactic and why which brought me to the Gilnean Raven (balance breed using peck, call darkness and nocturnal strike), Lil' Bling (ninja breed, using inflation, Extra Plating and Make it Rain) and my Farmer Nishi demolisher; Dancing Water Skimmer (speed breed, Water Jet, Healing Wave and Pump).
Only Lil' Bling died and the other two hardly got a scratch.
The way I did it was; Peck -> Call Darkness (to remove the weather) -> Nocturnal Strike -> peck until dead -> swap to Lil' Bling -> use extra plating -> Inflation (hits 3 times, so first time will remove the block, next 2 attacks hit) -> Make it Rain after inflation -> Extra Plating -> Inflation -> make it Rain (rinse and repeat until Lil' Bling dies) -> swap on Water Skimmer against the element thingie and just wash it away. Didn't even get to a point where I needed to use Pump. Water Jet and Healing Wave did it nicely. :-)
Thanks again!

Turn 6: Howl
Turn 7: Burrow
Turn 8: Thrash
Turn 9: Thrash
Turn 10: Howl
Banks should be dead at this point
Should there be a Thrash after the Howl? Or does the Howl come after Banks is dead, before you switch to your elemental?

Found another way to kill Xu-Fu, pretty obvious provably but anyway it may help someone.
Using sunreaver micro-sentry, clockwork gnome, and garden moth
Beggin with sunreaver
1 call ligthning
Swap to clockwork gnome
2 Build turret
3 Metal fist
Continue metal fist, and if lucky use Build turret agains
When dead, swap to sunreaver
If call ligthning still up
Fel Immolate
else
Call Ligthning
If sunreaver were to die, swap to moth and use moth balls and alpha strike
If someone whants to try it I would appreciate some feedback.

Hey Mel.
I got to think of something that you can proberbly answer much sooner than I can find out myself - and I've given up on finding a PM function here on Wowhead.
Do you know if the fights are more or less scripted to do the same every time? (or at least run a priority list like Wastewalker Shu, Aki the Chosen, etc.)
If so, couldn't it be an improvement to simply list what you've observed as their common rotation to make it easiest on people subbing a pet in if they don't have the suggested? Not that I mind thinking myself - or making others think a little - but you've pretty much already done everything else for us. :D
What I mean is like the Chi-Chi fight where it uses tranquility, then fire quills and then ethereal on cooldown. (I recall that's how it does)
And pretty much keep that rotation up. I can't even remember if it actually skips doing tranq if it's at full health. I thought you'd know stuff like that. :-)
Again, thank you for the guide already.

Thankyou for a great guide!
I wanted to mention that for Tommy Newcomer, the Zao original strategy is even better for defeating Tommy than the current Tommy one, with the added bonus of not even having to switch, because Tommy's first move makes them switch! So you use the exact same lineup like from the Zao strat: Sun Reaver, and two Zandalars.
Sun Reaver casts Call Lightning and then gets switched out by Lil' Oondasta's first move, so no need to switch!
Zandalar casts Black Claw.
Now, even on the chance that one Zandalar dies, two Zandalar Hunting Party moves finish him off.
4 move strat, wins EVERY time.
Comentado por

For Shademaster Kiryn
i am using infected squirrel with 1. Diseased Bite 2. Rabid Strike 3. Consume
start with
1. Rabid Strike
2. Diseased Bite
3. Consume
4. Diseased Bite
At this point Nairn is dead if it doesnt miss.
then he swaps to his mechanical pet
5. Rabid strike
6. Diseased Bite
7. Diseased Bite
this pet(Stormoen) dies also and failsafe revive again.
At this point squirrel dies. And i swap pandaren water spirit with Water Jet, Whirlpool, Geyser
1. Water Jet to kill Stormoen second time
2.Geyser
3.Whirlpool
4.Water Jet
Pandaren dies.
Then switch to Adonized Robo Cub Demolish, Repair, Supercharge
then its up to just 1 hit from it. and finished the fight.

Hello :) I've discovered this strategy a bit late it seems, i have my own strategies at the moment but some could use improvement as they don't always work so i think i will use some of your strategies next week.
The real reason i'm writing this comment is just to compliment you for the great guide and thanks for including my Bigglebomb strategy!
If you want i can share with you my other strategies to be included in the guide (not all of them are made by me though but i really don't remember which ones, also i have edited some of them from the original ones...but i don't remember which ones either :P ), none of them are in your guide (apart, obviously, from Yu'la) though 2 of them are very similar (The original strategy for Cho and "The Swarming Dead")
I might add that Shademaster Kirin can be used to heal your pets too (as long as your pet is not almost dead because you will receive very little damage in the 2nd turn if you use Wish to heal)
Comentado por
Alfa
For the Celestial bosses, I had four pets(one to heal) to defeat all four battles.
1.Pandaren Water Spirit
2.Chrominius
3.Menagerie Custodian(any other pet should work, I just use him for for big hits)
Magical Crawdad to heal
Save Yu'la for last to heal with Crawdad
Geyser -> Whirlpool ->
Swap to Chrom
-> Howl -> (Bite for Zao) -> Surge of Power
Your Chrom might die during Yu'la(but make sure its healed 100% before starting) but that's okay, just switch to your third pet.

Since I have been playing this game since classic, and have always been a pet collector, I have most of the ultra rare/impossible to still obtain pets in the game. I have noticed that this guide doesn't include any of those impossible/really hard to get type of pets: and for good reason. People who don't have the collection I have also want to be able to beat the celestial tournament. That doesn't stop me from wondering though if you, or any of you, have any suggestions regarding which of these pets are useful: I would really love to see these babies get some action.

I use a different combo for Little Tommy Newcomer
Starting Pet: Wild Golden Hatchling
Turn 1: Lift Off (To avoid Frill and to get that extra damage)
Turn 2: Lift Off continued...
Turn 3: Call Lightening (death)
2nd Pet: Clockwork Gnome
Turn 4: Turret
Turn 5&6: Metal Fist his brains out. Hope he misses at some point.
Turn 7 if lucky: Drop 2nd Turret (death).
3rd Pet: Menagerie Custodian
Turn 10-Win: Lock-On

First off let me say that this guide is incredible. I would've wasted hours upon hours without the help of this guide, so thank you very much. But I have one question for you about a specific strat. For the Clock'Em Out strategy against Yu'la, why do you say to use Counterstrike as your 5 ability instead of just using Jab again? Counterstrike does less damage unless Yu'la were to attack first (which he doesn't). I have supplemented Jab with Counterstrike for my 5th attack because I don't understand your reasoning for it. If you have the time I would really appreciate your input.
Thank you again for all of your hard work.

Hey there, nice guide! Just a quick suggestion, if you wanted set of cagable pets for Blingtron, I thought I'd post a team I had some success with. My friend Larkspur from the pet forums said you might have been looking for one.
I used S/S Jademist Dancer (Steam Vent/Rain Dance/Acid Rain), P/P Lil' Bad Wolf (Claw/x/Howl), and P/B Living Sandling (Sand Bolt/Sandstorm/Quicksand). Even with a little bad rng, this team has proved very reliable for me, and only the sandling is even expensive. Hope this is useful!

-Defeating the 4 Celestial Pets with 4 Pets-
1. Pandaren Water Spirit
2. Chrominus
3. Magical Crawdad (healing on Yu'lo)
4. Any pet that can do big damage in one turn.
Always start with Pandaren Water Spirit:
* Geyser
* Whirlpool
-- Swap to Chrominus
* Howl
* Surge of Power
= Dead.
Note: For Zao, you will need to Howl>Bite>Surge
Don't forget to heal after every battle (so save Yu'lo last).

Peddlefeet
On my server, Peddlefeet is only 200-300 gold at the AH. Also easy to get during the Valentine's World event.
I'm shocked that Peddlefeet has not been listed here.
You could also use
Scourged Whelpling
for the third slot.

In the fight against Wise Mari i had trouble with the original team on the wisp and wiped. The mechanical dragon didnt have any substitutions and i didnt have the pets available for the other teams. I ended up using a garden moth cause my amber moth was dead and in place of the mechanical dragonling i used an infinite whelpling i used its lv10.lv2 and lv20. with the lv ten ability it can cause the opponent to fall asleep at random which makes it a bit unpredictable so i cant exactly map out the fight but it did work pretty well, the whelplings lv20 ability helps with the wisp healing itself and the lv2 ability helped heal myself against its high damage attacks and when they fall asleep mari switches them out the next turn so it can give you a free shot because of the one turn delay for switching a pet. idk if it works flawlessly but it worked for me on my first try. hope this helps and good luck

I have a nearly invincible way to beat Little Tommy Newcomer. You need a
Yeti Mecânico Pacato
, a
Gnomo Movido à Corda
, and some other mechanical whose health is less than the gnome.
Yeti skills: metal fist, call lightning, ion cannon
Gnome skills: metal fist, (whatever, I never use spot 2), build turret
Other mechanical: use skills that will do max unbuffed damage to beasts
Open with the yeti (he's faster than Oondasta): call lightning
Oodasta will hit you with Frill Blast and that will bring in the gnome.
Gnome (he's also faster): build turret
Swap back in your yeti. Oodasta will do Spiritfire Beam, probably. Doesn't matter.
Yeti: Ion cannon
Your yeti will die while he's recovering. If you're lucky, you'll get in 1 metal fist. Doesn't matter. The turret is doing lightning buffed damage all along. When the yeti dies, bring back the gnome.
Gnome: build turret, and follow up with metal fist until the gnome dies, too.
Bring in your last mechanical and go crazy with the unbuffed damage. You won't be able to outlast Oodasta to put buffs on.
... And you're done. With good rng, I've used this to level mechanical pets from as low as lvl 19 in the last slot. On a bad day I have to do it two or three times.

I think that The Xu-Fu original tactic has become redundant now, tried it twice and failed with Xu-Fu on 63 and 114 health respectively.
I don't know whether this is my bad luck or a recent change to Xu-Fu, any confirmation would be nice :)

How to beat Wise Mari?
Carpe Diem continuously hit me and all my back row pets, so when I finally defeat him, any of my dragonkin (I don't have Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling) it's about half health and Spirus kill it in 2 or 3 blows (not only that it heals itself for 500-600) so I absolutely have no way to defeat it him. Can someone bring alternate ways?

I just watched my friend do Taran Zhu according to "This Little Piggy (cageable)". I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but there is an issue with the written strategy.
You say:
Turn 5: Curse of Doom
Turn 6: Prismatic Barrier
Swap to Stitched Pup
Turn 7: Howl
Turn 8: Plagued Blood
Should there be a "pass" for the Stitched Pup's first turn? Stitched Pup is faster than Bolo, so Howl on the first turn (turn 7) simply got blocked by Prismatic Barrier. Or some mention that if Prismatic Barrier is still up, pass on the first turn. He was still able to finish the fight but it's a bit difficult since the fight is really different after that, and it was really close.
I did the original strategy this week with Shimmershell Snail, Blighthawk and Amber Moth. The strategy doesn't say what to do if Moth Dust sleeps which causes Chen to switch pet back to Yen, so I had to improvise the rest of the battle.

Iron Starlette is great vs Screamer
Wind Up, Supercharge, Wind Up, dead Screamer without him ever using Feign Death. Then use Toxic Smoke against Trike until you die.
Zandalari Anklebiter finished off Trike quite easily and any random dragon should be able to kill Chaos without too much hassle.

Did they change the stats of Chi-Chi. Seems MUCH faster now. My wisps which are 322 speed always go second, and when I last checked Chi-Chi had 400+ speed. I can't beat it now. All the others still work according to this guide, just not Chi-Chi. The standard group worked fine prior to WOD release.

Original strategy failed 5+ times in a row on Taran Zhu, with no successes to date for me. It is time to remove or modify it. Yen does not use Feign Death when after you kill Bolo. Instead, he stuns Blight Hawk (this happens when the Ghostly Bite stun would wear off, therefore, stunned for 2 rounds, match essentially hopeless). Feign Death doesn't happen when advertised, and it ends up with Li versus Rapana Whelk, and Li just uses Bandage to stay alive until whelk is dead.
Finally succeeded on the 9th attempt, only because the Moth Dust stunned its opponent twice. Essentially, this fight never goes as the guide says.

This guys guide on the first trainers is good, but i felt against the celestials it was too much pets and chaos.
I found and better way, using fawn, chromius and pandaren water spirit (kun-lai runt offpet). Fawn is only used to heal up after each fight, que with either chi-chi or zao cuz they don't hit you on the first attack. Use fawn first, and heal with bleat ability and forfeit -> repeat (other pets with bleat is also viable. Do this until full health after each boss downed. Save one of those (chi-chi / zao) for last since i kno for a fact they dont dmg on first attack. Pandaren water spirit uses geyzer and whirlpoor, switch to chromius and use howl then surge of power, this is a insta combo u can use everywhere. During this I always used kun-lai runt as first pet just to be safe though it should not be needed. Used his frost shock to slow, then deep freeze to stun, while stunned i swapped to water spirit and did the rotation - > healed -> next fight. But thanks for the rest of the guide, helped alot.

On chi-ji I like to use an brute force approach. a unborn val'kyr two nexus whelpings. Curse of doom, fill with shadowslash, and unholy ascension right before you die the first time, then unholy ascension again. arcane storm, mana surge. On a side note i got by using a level 20 common whelping for one of my whelpings.

Question - On Sully "The Pickle" McLeary you have listed a Frog with +264 speed, are you meaning anything over 264 or exactly that amount?
Searching for a "Frog" with that speed and find many over it, like Mojo - is 289 sorry for the silly question, but starting to work on this after being gone for almost all of MoP and the Breed system is still kind of new to me.

If anyone is having issues with any of these fights still, go to the opponent's page and there are good comments there. I was having a terrible time for some reason with Chi-Chi all of a sudden and someone on Chi-Chi's page suggested using Pandaren water spirit and Chrominius to 2-pet it and it has worked like a charm every time. It has become by go to strat for that fight and should maybe be added here to the list.

Some of these strategies' pet selections need to be re-examined for viability. It's not that they won't work, its just that most players aren't going to have a lot of the rare pets that the teams are demanding.
Using Bonkers for instance. That is a SUPER rare pet but he is included in every single match up against Yu'la.

Just tried out a new strategy for Zao, and it worked like a charm. Voodoo Figurine with move set 2/2/2, Marsh Fiddler with move set 1/1/1. Use the Voodoo Figurine's "Wild Magic" on round 1, then use "Flame Breath", Then use "Rot", at this point, all you should have left is Voodoo Figurine's invincible round for being undead, so use it to refress the "Wild Magic", then bring out the Fiddler and "Swarm" away! He was dead very quickly.

I finally beat this today, at least the first 3 and this is how I did it, I got a lot of stuff off this page, some worked, some didn't. I use pet battle teams and I have a crap load of pets, this way I can look at the side bar, compare and make sure I don't have the same pet in more than one battle.
My go to team for the Celestrials as Pandarean Water Spirit, Chromius, and Mr. Biggleworth.
Thank you Sasquatch 1955 for this
http://i.imgur.com/cR9CMcx.png
Worked like a charm, do follow directions. Heal in between each battle at Yu'La, I used a two teams named CT-Heals-1 and 2. I used a fawn and already had Chrominus and the Water Spirtit loaded. I have 2 of each so it really makes it easy.
Chi-chi, Water spirit...1st geyser, then whirlpool, SWAP to Chrominus Howl, then surge, geyser and whirlpool drop,Chi-chi...dead.
Zao, Water spirit, same as above, SWAP to Chrominus Howl, Bite, Surge....geyser and WP drop...Zao dead.
Xu'fu..same as for Chi, Chi
any time u got damage on any of these go to Yu'la and use heal (fawn, bleat) forfeit. Rinse and repeat as needed.
Yu'la change lineup, start with Mr. Biggleworth..claw, ice tomb, ice barrier PASS, claw, claw, repeat.Mr. Biggs soloed her.
This day I had Wrathion, Zhu, and Stormstout. I have beaten these guys 4 times now with same team.As usual, leave Wrathion till last, in case u gotta heal someone, I didn't.
Zhu, Lost of Lordaeron, rare, H/H...shadow slash, siphon life, bone prison (will keep them from switching out)
Flamering Moth, rare, H/S..alpha strike, cocoon, and moth dust.
Fungal Moth, rare S/S...alpha strike, cocoon, and moth dust
Stormstout, Darkmoon tank, missle, shock and lock-on
Kun-Lai runt, rare, P/B...thrash, mangle and rampage.
Mirror Strider, rare, B/B...water jet, healing wave, pump.
Wrathion, Mud Jumper, rare, H/B..water jet, mudslide and bubble.
Scourge Whelpling, rare, H/H, tail swipe, death & decay, plagued blood.
Anuibisath Idol , crush, stoneskin and deflection.
I'm not gonna tell you exact rotation for every battle cause it has been my experience, things change. We're playing a program, and I know that, but these teams and paying attention to what the other guy is doing, helps...alot.

VERY good guide! I love that you made a list over alternative pets too, made it possible for me to finish lvling the team much faster. Almost every step was spot on. I failed once on Chi-Chi cus I missed with my first Flash. I used a Nexus Whelpling in a new team (combined with Jademist Dancer) and they 2 manned Chi-Chi. Used Geyser-Rain Dance-Jade Claw til the Dancer died. Then Brought in the Whelpling and used Arcane Storm (np if Chi-Chi dodges the damage), then Mana Surge. Chi-Chi dead. I've only tried this once, so maybe I was lucky, but a tip for those that can use this combo after the main one fails.

A strategy that I've found to be very reliable when facing Taran Zhu is simply having three
Abominaçãozinha
, each with
Cutilada
,
Consumir Cadáver
and
Explosão de Cadáver
. Simply spam
Cutilada
, switch when you're stunned, use
Explosão de Cadáver
on the undead passive round and use
Consumir Cadáver
to heal the second and third pet as necessary.
Another pet added in Warlords of Draenor that I think fits in very well in a lot of strategies is
Ikky
. It does require some investment since it's only available at uncommon but at rare it's absolutely devastating. As far as I know it's the only flying pet that has access to both
Garra Negra
and
Revoada
. 325 base attack and the early speed advantage the flying family bonus gives make this pet absolutely devastating.

For the life of me I couldn't beat them, Either RNG got me or I didn't have the right set up. So I went and collected AND leveled every single pet you suggested and followed your guide and my goodness, I wish I had done that first because it was made so easy and I could understand it and completed each fight with no issue. I gotta say, thank you so much for all the effort you put into this, I dont think I could have done it without you, and it still worked out very well with the new achievement "an awfully big adventure" where you need the useless elekk in your team and I was able to complete that as well. Works very well. Thank you so much for the excellent guide. Taran Zhu was tough as I didnt have one or two pet in original strat and new strat so based on my experience with pet battle I chose substitute pets instinctively and it worked after two attempts. Celestial pets were so easy by simply following the guide. I didnt know about the breed and only found after installing PetBreedID addon that my alpine foxling was S/S which seems the reason I had no prob with xu-fu. I too am trying to figure out my own strategy using the rare and expensive pet I have. Without this guide I would have wasted tons of time so thank you so much!

Scooter the Snail
Ooze Touch
Acidic Goo
Dive
Goo, Dive, Touch, repeat.
Ashstone Core
Feedback
Stoneskin
Instability (you can't stun critters)
Even though Instability missed twice, I still killed off Banks. Stoneskin reduces SO MUCH damage.
Phoenix Hatchling
Burn
Immolate
Conflagrate
Standard rotation. 2311. A lucky crit helped here, but I finished the last pet with 925 health still on the phoenix.

So I don't want to be "that guy" but when you spend about a week looking for and leveling up about 70 pets then go to the tournament and barely pull it off because the team listed here didn't work and you only had a limited number of additional pets that could be used without compromising the other battles you have in order to finish the tournament you become a very happy individual.
Xu - Fu battle almost cost me.
The team from this page is almost exactly as mine, I substituted the darkmoon zep for a mechanical pandaren dragonling but still used the 2 fox's. They got slaughtered.
I was able to do it thanks to luck and the use of Lofty Libram, my second mechanical pandaren dragonling and the cogblade raptor that I prize the most.
My method was librams "curse of doom" then switched to the mechanical pandaren dragonling and used "thunderbolt" first then "explode". After that Xu - Fu was down to about ~500 hp and I used Cogblade raptor and the move "batter" until he was dead. It was luck because "batter" is one of those moves that strikes 1-2 times and up to 3 times if you go first. I went first and got 3 strikes with the move twice before my raptor died to then come back to life and give me a victory. If cogblade only hit twice either time i'd be a sad panda.
So best of luck to those still trying to get this tournament done. Its a %^&*! but once you do it you will be so happy.

Taran Zhu completely destroyed me.
Taran Zhu brings out Yen - Yen uses Feign Death (which is good because Blighthawk is stunned from Ghostly Bite)
Taran Zhu brings out Li
This didn't occur, Yen was below 50% health but he did not use Feign Death instead he pummeled Blighthawk completely with stuns. By the time I had killed Yen, Li was then alive with just my Rapana Whelk to take him down however since my whelk is a critter, Li's abilities were strong against critters and my Rapana Whelk was chewed and spat out by Li.
I have tried this a few times and with the same outcome.
The other 2 strategies, I am missing the Darkmoon Rabbit since I refuse to spend 150k Gold on it from the AH. So I am at a bit of a loss here.

Another strategy for Yu'la, only with capturable pets. I didn't have Bonkers, Pandaren Monk, not even Mr. Bigglesworth.
A very simple method: 2 Kun-Lai Runts (P/P is the bet, but not really important). And for reserve, a rabbit. Any kind.
You don't have to take care of anything, just follow this:
Start with the runt.
1.Frost shock -> next round you will come first.
2.Deep Freeze -> Yu'la will be stunned, no action.
3.Takedown-> HUGE damage!
4.Takedown
5.Frost shock
6.Deep Freeze
7.Takedown
... and so on. If Kun Lai Rin dies, bring in the second one and finish the dragon. That's all.
The rabbit for third is merely a reserve, its speed and burrow is the point, but you won't need that.

I revisited it yesterday and realized that I really did have all the pets I needed (and most of them already lvl 25...just had to level a handful more, which was easy since it happens to be the Pet Battle bonus event.) So far beating Team 1 + Celestials, I used all the "original strategy" pets except for Chi-Chi, where I used the snail team. Worked like a charm, every single fight. I'm bookmarking this page for the next 9 weeks, so I can buy the remaining 3 celestial pets :)

Thanks for this guide. It is excellent. I'd just like to add that double scourged whelplings roflstomps Wrathion. You won't even have to pull out your 3rd pet. I did get slightly lucky, tho. His Icy Tomb missed early on due to Darkness, which I cast before spamming Plagued Breath. Good luck guys.

The strategy as provided against Shademaster Kiryn is incorrect. My Lofty Libram was finished right after turn 5, with her first pet still up and still full of enough health. Since Lofty Libram is the only prescribed pet that is said to be able to defeat the pet, I was forced to forfeit the battle, leave the instance and start over.

Great guide! I even messed up a couple times and had to substitute a couple pets in to fill in for dead ones, and still won in the end.
