Introduction
So you want to join <The Scarlet Crusade>? Well, who can blame you!
Obviously, the Scarlet Crusaders are WoW's version of the cool kids, getting to sit at the good lunch table and free to punch the rest of us in the nuts whenever they please. Given a chance, I'm sure we'd all defect from the stupid Horde and dumb Alliance to join up! Unfortunately, since the only legit ways to do so have been
removed from the game
or
only last for 1 quest
, we'll have to make do with pretending. This guide will help even the least among us look like kings among men, members of <The Scarlet Crusade>.
Like me!
It's cool, this is my house. I just live here. No big thing.
NB: The revamp of SM was implemented with 5.0.4. I'll be sorting through what is and isn't possible for SM sets in the next few days, so please be patient!
So you want to spend as little time as possible
So you want to look like a member of <The Scarlet Crusade> but you're also lazy and don't really give a damn. Excellent! It turns out, many of your Scarlet brethren feel the same way, wearing just whatever gear they feel like -
paladin T2
,
hunter dungeon tier
,
recolored Field Marshal's cloth
, or even
no shirt at all
! If you don't really care about the details, it's easy to fit right in with these slackers.
What you need:
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
How to get it:
After you kill
Herodes
in the
Monastério Escarlate
armory wing, you'll be swarmed by a mob of about 20
Aprendiz Escarlate
s. They can be easily AoEed down and have a 3% chance to drop a tabard. It should only take a couple of runs to obtain yours.
Since this dungeon was revamped in 5.0.4, the tabard now drops only from
Mestre Armeiro Harlan
. Happy grinding.
What to do: Throw that thing on over any old armor you please. Ta da! You're now a member of <The Scarlet Crusade>!
Guys, guys, I thought we were friends!!
Um... guys? Did you not see my tabard?
Well, this is awkward...
So you want to spend as much time as possible
Now you're talking. If you want to look like a member of <The Scarlet Crusade> who agonizes over every tiny detail, transmogging your bracers even though no one will ever see them, you've come to the right place.
What to do:
First, go back up to the
lazy part
of the guide and follow the instructions to get your
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
. It's the first building block to any good Scarlet set.
Then, pick your armor class from the list below and go nuts!
Cloth
So you wear cloth...
Cloth wearers have lots of fun options to match different Scarlet Crusaders. First,
grab a tabard
, then pick your favorite and get started!
The
Curador Escarlate
is one of the many Scarlet Crusaders guarding the Scarlet Enclave.
Helm
: Curates are wearing the
Olho da Chama
, a gold monocle which is a BoE epic that can be quite expensive on the AH. If you don't want to spring for it,
Monóculo do Arquiteto-chefe
is easily farmed out of BRD, but it's silver, not gold, so it's not a perfect match.
Shoulders
: There are lots of shoulders that have the same mode as the ones the Curates wear; you can pick any of the follow depending on which is the easiest for you to get to.
Dragonas de Fogo Estelar
/
Ombreiras Tecidas em Sangue
are world-drop greens you can check the AH for.
Omoplatas de Seda Carmesim
are crafted by a tailor, but the pattern is rare enough that most won't have it.
Dragonas de Pedravil
drops from a rare spawn in Blade's Edge Mountains.
Mortalha dos Nathrezim
drops from the last boss of the Stratholme live side.
Chest
: The best option here is
Veste de Combustão
/
Vestes do Cativador
, which matches the body of the robe but not the sleeves. There's no exact match for what the Curates wear.
Gloves
:
Luvas do Grão-magus
are the exact match for what the Curates wear, but if you've already done the quest in Shadowmoon Valley, you can use
Luvas de Brasatrama
instead; they're the same model, just fingerless.
Belt
: The belt the Curates wear is
Cinto do Aniquilador Arenoso
/
Cinturão de Placa Lançatroz
which, unfortunately, is plate.
Cilício de Caostrama
/
Bandagem Ensanguentada de Grom'tor
is the best we're going to do in cloth.
Feet
: For the barely visible boots, you'll want
Botas Tecinferno
.
Weapon
: As a bonus, you can actually match this guy's weapon and OH. He's using a
Clava da Luta
/
Espancador de Feras
with a
Tomo sobre Venenos
in his off-hand. If you're interested in seeing a Curate weilding the weapons, look here!
Comparison shots: (1) is the actual Curate. (2) is our matching gear, with the weapon/OH the Curate uses.
The
Arquimago Escarlate
is another guardian of the Scarlet Enclave.
Helm
: These handsome folks are wearing a
Coroa da Sabedoria sem Fim
/
Coroa de Turmalina
.
Shoulders
: There's no match for the red shoulders the Archmage wears. You can either have a blue (
Brafoneiras Celestiais
) or purple (
Sobreveste Magna
/
Espaldares Eternos
/
Dragonas do Poder Mágico
) version of the exact model, or a slightly different model with the correct red coloring,
Dragonas do Fendevidente
/
Dragonas Extraordinárias do Fendevidente
.
blue
red
Chest
: The best match we'll get here is
Veste Imperial Vermelha
/
Vestes da Coroa Real
, which is a perfect match for the body of the robe, just not the sleeves.
Hands
: It's a bit difficult to match the exact gloves the Archmages are wearing.
Manoplas Resplandecentes
is a model match and the best color match available for players, but that's not very good.
Luvas da Chama Hipnótica
/
Mãos Vermelhas do Senhor do Trovão
aren't a very similar model, but they look pretty good with the set. Finally, mages can use the
Luvas de Tirisfal
, which are poofy red gloves, but they're tier, so mage only.
Resplendent Gauntlets
Gloves of Hypnotic Flame/Red Hands of the Thunderlord
Gloves of Tirisfal
Belt
: As you can probably see on the initial side-by-side, many of the Scarlets wear the same belt. Unfortunately, we don't have access to it. What I like best with this particular set-up is
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
, but it's a bit hard to get now. There's also
Faixa do Capitão Albernaz
/
Cintel do Boticário
, a bright red sash. Finally,
Cinturão da Fúria do Mago
is a less bright belt that fits well with the color scheme.
Deadly Gladiator's Cord of Salvation
Captain Sander's Sash/Apothecary's Waistband
Mage-Fury Girdle
Boots
: Your barely visible boots are
Botas Tecinferno
.
Weapon
: If you happen to be using a staff, you can even copy the weapon the Archmages have: a
Cajado de Hale Flamagus
. Picture of an Archmage with his weapon here!
Comparison shots: (1) is the actual Scarlet Archmage. (2) is what I feel is the best copy, with the mage tier gloves and a rare PvP belt from Wrath. (3) is a more easily available and also shows correct-model/wrong-color shoulders.
Next up, the
Clérigo Escarlate
, another wanderer of the Scarlet Enclave.
Helm
: The Clerics wear a brighter red helm than anything we have available; our best bet is
Mortalha Embalsamada
/
Capuz de Tecido Vil
.
Shoulders
: Here, you want a tailoring crafted piece,
Omoplatas de Magitrama Vermelhas
.
Chest
: The chestpiece that's our best match is
Veste de Doan
, although the sleeves aren't perfect.
Belt
: As you can probably see on the initial side-by-side, many of the Scarlets wear the same belt. Unfortunately, players don't have access to it. What I like best with this particular set-up is
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
, but it's a bit hard to get now. There's also
Faixa do Capitão Albernaz
/
Cintel do Boticário
, a bright red sash. Finally,
Cinturão da Fúria do Mago
is a less bright belt that fits well with the color scheme.
Deadly Gladiator's Cord of Salvation
Captain Sander's Sash/Apothecary's Waistband
Mage-Fury Girdle
Gloves
: You'll want a rep piece from BC, the
Luvas Carmesim Enlameadas
.
Boots
: For red toes peeking out from under your robes, you'll want
Sapatilhas de Lunatrama do Vindicante
.
Weapon
: As a bonus, if you're using a staff, you can also match the Cleric's weapon, which is a
Cajado da Fé Renegada
/
Cajado Guardião
/
Cajado do Refúgio
. To get a peek at the Cleric and his big ol' staff, check here!
Finally, a comparison shot, with (1) being the Scarlet Cleric and (2) being your best shot at matching his gear, using a
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
for the belt.
Unfortunately, our match for the
Encantador Escarlate
's gear isn't going to be as good as most of the other cloth sets, but we'll do our best.
Helm
: The first piece is an easy one;
Chapéu Vermelho Pontudo
is the helm the Enchanters wear.
Shoulders
: Since the Scarlet Enchanters don't wear shoulders, I picked
Omoplatas Reforçadas de Linho
as the most unobtrusive cloth shoulders available.
Chest
: The best way for us to mimic the long, open sleeves with the artwork worn by the Enchanters is to layer
Traje de Demotrama
, a drop off a BC rare spawn, with
Camisa do Amputador
, a rare drop off the doctor in Scholomance.
Gloves
: Underneath your fancy sleeves, you'll want the relatively unobtrusive
Luvas do Grão-magus
.
Belt
: As you can probably see on the initial side-by-side, many of the Scarlets wear the same belt. Unfortunately, players don't have access to it. What I like best with this particular set-up is
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
, but it's a bit hard to get now. There's also
Faixa do Capitão Albernaz
/
Cintel do Boticário
, a bright red sash. Finally,
Cinturão da Fúria do Mago
is a less bright belt that fits well with the color scheme.
Deadly Gladiator's Cord of Salvation
Captain Sander's Sash/Apothecary's Waistband
Mage-Fury Girdle
Pants
: A cloth wearer in pants!! I know, it shocked me as well. The Enchanters wear
Perneiras de Brasatrama
/
Calças de Magitrama Vermelhas
/
Perneiras Rubrofogo
/
Pantalonas da Ira Flamejante
/
Calças Imperiais Vermelhas
... lots of different ways to get a hold of those, so pick whatever is easiest for you.
Boots
: Unfortunately, the Enchanters are wearing boots that, while quite common among members of the Scarlet Crusade, aren't available to players. The easiest, simplest replacement is
Botas de Lã Vermelhas
.
Weapon
: As a bonus, if you're using a staff, you can match it to the
Cajado do Taumaturgo
carried by the Enchanters. Picture of an Enchanter, wandering the world with staff in hand, here!
Finally, a lovely comparison shot. (1) is the Scarlet Enchanter, (2) is what we can assemble, with
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
as the belt.
The
Juiz Escarlate
is a rare spawn and one of the last members of the Scarlet Crusade who occasionally appears in the Western Plaguelands.
Helm
: He's wearing the always-recognizable
Chapéu da Cristalba
.
Shoulders
: There's no match for the red shoulders the Judge wears. You can either have a blue (
Brafoneiras Celestiais
) or purple (
Sobreveste Magna
/
Espaldares Eternos
/
Dragonas do Poder Mágico
) version of the exact model, or (my preference) a slightly different model with the correct red coloring,
Dragonas do Fendevidente
/
Dragonas Extraordinárias do Fendevidente
.
blue
red
Chest
: The best we can do here is
Veste Imperial Vermelha
/
Vestes da Coroa Real
, which is a perfect match for the body of the robe, just not the sleeves.
Gloves
:
Luvas do Grão-magus
are a simple, dark red glove.
Belt
: The belt the Judge wear is
Cinto do Aniquilador Arenoso
/
Cinturão de Placa Lançatroz
which, unfortunately, is plate.
Cilício de Caostrama
/
Bandagem Ensanguentada de Grom'tor
is the best we're going to do in cloth.
Boots
: The dark red toes peeking out from under your robes are from
Sapatilhas de Lunatrama do Vindicante
.
Weapon
: If you happen to be using a mace in your main hand, you can even copy the Judge's weapon, as he's using a
Cetro do Barão
, which you can see him with here!
Finally, (1) is the Judge and (2) is how you'll look in his gear.
I'm hardly the first to want to match
Alta-inquisidora Cristalba
's look; in fact, there have been
quite
a few
others
. I didn't want to leave her out of this guide, but basically all of the work here was done by those who came before me.
Helm
:
Chapéu da Cristalba
, obviously.
Shoulders
: There are lots of shoulders that have the same mode as the ones the Whitemane wears; you can pick any of the follow depending on which is the easiest for you to get to.
Dragonas de Fogo Estelar
/
Ombreiras Tecidas em Sangue
are world-drop greens you can check the AH for.
Omoplatas de Seda Carmesim
are crafted by a tailor, but the pattern is rare enough that most won't have it.
Dragonas de Pedravil
drops from a rare spawn in Blade's Edge Mountains.
Mortalha dos Nathrezim
drops from the last boss of the Stratholme live side.
Chest
:
Colete de Brasatrama
is the chestpiece she wears, though it's a bit difficult to obtain now because the tailoring pattern no longer drops since the Cataclysm.
Additionally, Whitemane wears a tabard that's not available for players. Lots of people like the
Tabardo das Chamas
, even though it's not an exact match for hers. If you don't want to shell out real money for the card,
Tabardo dos Fendessol
is an acceptable substitute as well, but it's horde-only. Some folks hate her with a tabard and some hate her without one, so this will have to be your personal preference.
If you are in love with the sleeves that go all the way up her arms, creating it will require a tabard overlaying
Túnica de Ourotrama
/
Túnica Elegante
. The tunic puts the top details on her arm coverings (see (5) in the images below) but since it doesn't actually match her gear (but rather a
gold recolor
of her set), you'll want to use a tabard to cover the chestpiece. If you've already done the quest for the
Túnica de Ourotrama
and can't find
Túnica Elegante
on the AH, any tailor can make you
Túnica de Friotrama
instead, but you'll end up with purple on your arms.
Gloves
: Her gloves match the
Luvas do Grão-magus
.
Bracers
: To make your gloves look like they stretch all the way up your arms, you'll want
Braçadeira Estilhaçante do Reparador da Terra
as well.
Legs
: Only the
Calças de Brasatrama
will do.
Feet
: Her boots are available from quite a few sources, but I think the easiest to pick up are
Botas Tecinferno
, for only 4
Pontos de Justiça
.
Belt
: Here's where we get a little sticky - she's not wearing a belt! If all you want to do is RP as Whitemane, feel free to leave the belt out of it. However, if you're looking for a full transmog set, there are a
tremendous number of options
. This one is going to have to come down to personal preference as well, so hop over into the dressing room and try some things on!
Weapon
: If you happen to be using a staff, you can also transmog Whitemane's weapon. She's using a
Cajado Faiscante do Bosque Brilhante
/
Báculo Invencível
.
(1) is our High Inquisitor at her finest. (2) is purely for RP purposes, showing our match of her gear with her weapon but without a belt.
(3) is out first transmogable version and shows our version of her gear using
Cordão da Salvação do Gladiador Mortal
. (4) shows it with a
Tabardo das Chamas
and
Faixa do Capitão Albernaz
/
Cintel do Boticário
. (5) shows the result of using the
Túnica de Ourotrama
//
Túnica Elegante
to create her full arm effect, but of course that requires a
Tabardo das Chamas
to cover that the tunic doesn't match. It also uses
Cinto de Seda do Veterano
as a belt.
Finally, please note that this whole mess looks rather awkward on male toons...
Yikes!
Um... ok, I didn't need to see that.
Pregador Escarlate
is one of the NPCs you'll only see during the DK starting quests. Non-DKs will find the area where they're supposed to spawn quite empty. I have a soft spot for these guys because they're wearing quite a bit of
priest T1
. This means, however, that most of this set is
priest-only
.
Helm
: I'm sure it'll hurt you as much as it hurts me, but we don't have access to the Preacher's awesome hat.
Chapéu da Cristalba
is the best we can do.
Shoulders/Chest/Belt/Boots
: All from
priest T1
, so get to farming Molten Core! The shoulders aren't an perfect match, but we don't have access to the exact coloring of what he's wearing.
Gloves
: For a red, finger-less glove like the Preacher wears, I use
Luvas de Brasatrama
.
Weapon
: The Preacher is also wielding the classic priest T1 weapon,
Bênção
. If you already have one, you're in luck, but this weapon has been removed from the game, so you're stuck if you don't. If you want a similar staff, try
Cajado Faiscante do Bosque Brilhante
/
Báculo Invencível
. If you want to see the Preacher with his Bene, check here!
Gentleman (1) is the fabulous Scarlet Preacher. Gentleman (2) is how great you'll look immitating him.
Leather
So you wear leather...
Unfortunately, leather-wearing would-be Scarlet Crusaders get pretty boned. There's one guy whose look you can copy and he's technically a part of the Scarlet Fleet in Northrend, not the actual Scarlet Crusade. Everyone else in leather has gear that follows two themes: "buckles/rings" and "unavailable to players". You'll see what I mean, but first, it's time to play everyone's favorite game: "Pick Who You Want to Look Like!!!" Just don't forget to
grab a tabard first
, so it'll at least be obvious what you were
trying
to go for.
Look at all those fine, upstanding gentlemen in their weird, unmatchable gear. /sigh, let's get started...
Almirante Barean Zefirália
has the most easily matched gear of any leather-wearing member of the Scarlet Crusade and even some fun lore.
He even has a statute!
Unfortunately, there's no gear in game that matches what this baller is wearing...
But a girl can dream...
Chest/Gloves/Legs
: All 3 of these are
Slayer pieces from rogue T6
. Unfortunately, that means they're only accessible to rogues. For druids, you'll have to try some
druid PvP gear
.
Feet
: The Admiral is wearing a close match to
Botas Pretas Muito Leves
.
Belt
: Admiral Westwind is wearing a belt that matches the rogue T6 gear but which, despite gallons of rogue tears, has never been made available to players. There are lots of items that get close, so we'll take a look at some of them:
Cordão do Andarilho das Sombras
and
Cinto das Serpentes Rastejantes
are matchs for the belt design,
but
not color matches; they are a blue-grey and green, respectively.
Cinto Dentessangue
is rogue only and a close match for the color scheme.
Cinto do Assassino Ímpio
,
Cinturão Atachama
, and
Cinto de Pelego de Raptor
/
Cinto do Cavalga-lobo
are all acceptable substitutes as well, just depending on your personal taste.
Shadow-Walker's Cord
Belt of Slithering Serpents
Bloodfang Belt
Belt of the Pitiless Killer
Flamebinding Girdle
Raptor-Hide Belt/Wolf Rider's Belt
Shoulders
: Unfortunately, the Admiral is wearing plate shoulders:
Dragonas de Abrahmis
. For druids, you can wear a reasonably close match, depending on which BC faction you're honored with:
Espaldares de Couro de Dragão
/
Espaldares de Couro de Kodo
/
Espaldares de Couro de Kodo
/
Espaldares de Couro de Serpe
. Rogues only have access to a version that doesn't have any red on it:
Ombreiras do Ermâmbulo
/
Dragonas de Pelame de Foca
.
Druid PvP shoulders
Wastewalker Shoulderpads/Seal-Fur Spaulders
Finally, some comparison shots! 1) is Admiral Westwind himself. 2) is what's available to rogues, along with the "matching" but incorrectly colored belt. 3) is what's available to druids, although I went with the
Cinto de Pelego de Raptor
, which can be worn by either.
Best known for his desire to
rip the secrets off your flesh
,
Interrogador Vishas
is the first and creepiest boss in Scarlet Monastery. He's also quite a torture to copy, since most of his gear doesn't exist. Apparently, wherever his gear comes from is his naughty secret!
Helm
: There is no red leather hood to match his helm. A black version
Manto com Capuz
was available but only on mobs that disappeared in the Cataclysm, so you might find one on the AH but only if you're extremely lucky. For RP purposes, you can wear a cloth version (
Mortalha Embalsamada
/
Capuz de Tecido Vil
) but of course you can't transmog it. Otherwise, your best option is
Capuz do Batedor
, a black hood/mask with a red border.
Shoulders
: He's not wearing any, but I'd recommend something simple like
Espaldares Heráldicos
.
Chest
: What he's wearing doesn't exist, but
Túnica do Monge Auchenai
/
Túnica do Batedor Mag'hari
is similar.
Legs
: Again, these don't exist; try
Perneiras Brasonadas
instead.
Gloves/Belt/Boots
: Hey, none of these pieces exist either! One possibility is take all three of them from the
wolf rider's garb
; all 3 pieces are in picture (2) below. If you don't like that look, you might try
Luvas Patafúria
,
Botas do Bardo
, and
Cinturão da Fúria Bestial
, all in picture (3).
(1) is the impossible Interrogator himself. (2) includes the cloth helm, as well as the Wolf Rider's pieces. (3) is a mishmash of other options, including probably the only helm you'll be able to get your hands on. And I thought this dude was a jerk
before
I tried to match his gear!!
You'll want to turn over all your secrets to the
Interrogador Escarlate
, one of the few Scarlet Crusaders left in the Western Plaguelands.
FOR THE SANDWICH!!
Shoulders
: Honestly, there is no match for the shoulders and your options are a bit all over the place. You can just pick something simple, like the
Omoplatas Imponentes
. You can take what is probably the most exact art match,
Garras da Morte
, but unfortunately it's a horrendous, unmatchable color. Or you could use the
Espaldares com Runas Demoníacas
, paired with some black boots.
Imposing Shoulders
Death's Clutch
Demonic Runed Spaulders
Chest
: There is no match for his chestpiece (not even for cloth wearers), but
Arnês Feral
plus a
Camisa Vermelha de Linho
underneath will work just fine.
Gloves
: Those are
Luvas de Couro de Dragão Retesado
, a drop from BWL.
Pants
: Unfortunately, he's wearing
Calças de Brasatrama
, which are cloth, so his pants aren't available for transmog. For some very red leather pants, try
Perneiras do Sabre
/
Perneiras do Cavalga-lobo
instead.
Boots
: These exact boots aren't available either, so you'll have to choose between art matches (
Botas do Errante
in brown or
Botas do Minerador de Carvão
in grey) or
Sapatos Ferais
, a more stylistic match but not an exact art match.
Wanderer's Boots
Coal Miner Boots
Feral Shoes
Belt
: Any of the belts listed under Admiral Westwind's tab would probably work for this set. I've chosen
Cinto de Pelego de Raptor
for the comparison below.
So here we are. (1) is the actual Scarlet Interrogator. (2) is the best match, but includes cloth leggings and some simple shoulders that color-match the set. (3) is the set I'd create, with boots and shoulders that match each other, even if they're not an exact match for the actual Interrogator's gear.
Our buddy the
Caçador Escarlate
is trying to make my job easy by wearing several pieces of the
same transmog set
. Thanks, bro!
Helm
:
Bandana Imponente
is the helm he's wearing, although you might also consider
Bandana do Aventureiro
, which is a darker red more in line with the rest of the set.
Shoulders
: He's not wearing shoulders, probably because the Bard's set doesn't come with any. For the picture below, I choose the simple
Omoplatas Imponentes
.
Chest
:
Túnica do Monge Auchenai
/
Túnica do Batedor Mag'hari
are his chestpiece.
Gloves
:
Luvas do Bardo
/
Luvas de Gordok
on his hands. The quest item is alliance only.
Belt
: The belt worn by most of the Scarlet Crusade isn't available to players, but
Cinto do Bardo
just happens to match the rest of this set perfectly.
Pants
: This pants are
Perneiras de Oleado
.
Boots
: You guessed it,
Botas do Bardo
!
Easy screenshots this time. (1) is the Hunter and (2) is our match!
Finally, there's this friendly fellow, the
Carrasco Escarlate
. Note that he is a rare spawn, but you unfortunately won't get a silver dragon around your portrait no matter how well you match him.
Helm
: While there is no red hood/facemask for leather wearers, there is
Capuz do Batedor
, which is black with a red border and looks pretty great with this set.
Shoulders
: Since he doesn't have a shoulders on, you'll want something fairly unobtrusive, like
Omoplatas Imponentes
or
Espaldares Heráldicos
(shown in the comparison below).
Imposing Shoulders
Heraldic Spaulders
Chest
: For a chestpiece that shows only red bands on your arms, you'll want
Arnês Feral
.
Gloves
: Those are
Luvas de Couro de Dragão Retesado
, a drop from BWL.
Legs
: The matching legs are
Perneiras do Mestre de Espadas
from BRS.
Belt
: The Executioner, like most of the Scarlet Crusade, is wearing a belt not available to players. However, there are plenty of red leather belts that look fine with a Scarlet set. For this particular set, I prefer
Cinto do Assassino Ímpio
, but really, any of the belts listed under Admiral Westwind's tab would work fine.
Boots
: His boots, like his belt, are worn by a lot of Scarlets but don't exist for us. The
Sapatos Ferais
are an excellent color/art match for the set, however.
All of this and we're left with (1) the Scarlet Executioner and (2) your slightly darker version of his gear.
Mail
So you wear mail...
Luckily for mail wearers, we have an
*actual* Scarlet set
. This makes us way superior to all those other jerks just pretending to be Scarlet Crusaders - our gear is legit; it comes with
set bonuses
.
NB: For mail wearers, then, you'll want to wear as many pieces of the
Malha Encadeada da Cruzada Escarlate
as you can get your hands on. The
gloves
,
belt
, and
bracers
are all greens that can be farmed off trash or will go for cheap on your AH. The
leggings
are a boss drop, so they're honestly the easiest of the 6 pieces to pick up, since you'll be farming
your tabard
off
Herodes
as well.
However, the mail Scarlet set does have a few issues. Specifically:
1) The chest and boots have a very low drop rate, making them hard to find and often prohibitively expensive.
2) There's no "official" helm or shoulders to go with the set.
Never fear, though. The set's got issues; I've got solutions.
This is by far the easiest piece to cover for, because, as discussed in the
lazy part
of the guide, you'll be throwing a
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
over whatever chestpiece you end up using. All you want, then, is an chest that doesn't have visible arms that look out of place in the set. You can do this on your own AH, probably for less than 10g. If you're using a chest with no visible arms, I highly recommend checking out the
shirts
as well.
Unfortunately, due to their rarity, the
Botas Escarlate
will probably be the last part of the set you acquire. Luckily, there are plenty of alternative boots that will work fine until that frabjous day when
Botas Escarlate
appear on the AH. However, most of these alternates pick up the red/chain look of the leggings rather than matching the red/gold of the actual scarlet boots.
My favorite option is
Botas da Selvageria
. Even better, Horde can get an identical pair,
Grevas do Arranca-toco
, from a quest in Auchenai Crypts. Alliance will be stuck watching the AH, though, for both these boots and the Scarlet ones... suckers!
Boots of Savagery
Grevas Papa-jardas
/
Pisa-chamas
are a good alternative to the Boots of Savagery, from BRD/BRS respectively.
Fleetfoot Greaves/Flame Walkers
Botas do Saqueador
/
Galochas Pantaneiras
aren't bad, but I don't like them as much as the above options. They're shorter and leave a gap on female toons btwn the bottom of the leggings and the top of the boots.
Raider's Boots/Marshcreeper Sludgeboots
If you want a narrower boot,
Botas Lupívelas
/
Grevas Encadeadas Enegrecidas
are quest items that match the Scarlet art.
Wolfrunner Boots/Blackened Chain Greaves
Finally,
Botas do Revelosh
are easily farmable from first boss in Uldaman. They're not red/chain or red gold, but they are a really quick substitute. Honestly, I'd only recommend them if you have to get ready for some kind of Scarlet fashion show in an hour and none of the other boots are on the AH.
Revelosh's Boots
Lots of people end up using
Elmo do Berserker em Fúria
, because it drops out of SM off of
Herodes
, but it's definitely not the only option out there.
Elmo do Cavaleiro Sangrento
is also a very common choice, as it gives you the look of
Campeão Escarlate
, but it's a bit too pink for my tastes.
Blood Knight Helm
For a simple bucket-style helm, there's
Capacete do Khan
/
Elmo Triunfante
or
Capacete Magnífico
in red/gold and
Celada Carmesim
in red/steel.
Magnificent Helmet
Crimson Barbut
My personal favorite is
Elmo do Grande Chefe
. However, it's a BS crafted item with an
extremely rare vanilla pattern
. Expect to troll trade for quite a while to find someone who can craft this. (Or you can do what I did: use armory to
stalk
some of the older guilds on your server, looking for an old-school/collector BS.)
Helm of the Great Chief
Ombreiras de Herodes
, like the helm off of Herod, is an obvious shoulder to use, but there are other options here as well.
The best option by far, imo, is
Palas Dracoflama
. It's awesome looking and, unlike Herod's, covers both shoulders. It's a vanilla world drop, but appears more often than you might think on the AH since it has a higher drop rate off of vanilla Nef and Rag.
Drakesfire Epaulets
Dragonas do Assolador
is similar to the Drakesfire and may be a bit easier to find on the AH. Another great possibility.
Ravager's Mantle
For simple red/gold shoulders, you have quite a few options:
Brafoneiras do Cavaleiro Sangrento
with 1 tier,
Omoplatas Magníficas
and
Palas Sede de Sangue
/
Brafoneiras Mercuriais
with 2 tiers,
Omoplatas Encadeadas Abrasadoras
with 3.
One...
Two...
Three!!
I don't personally like the red w/ rivets look for shoulders, but there are options here as well:
Espaldares Diluvianos
and
Palas de Pedravil
/
Brafoneiras Gravadas
/
Espaldares Carmesim do Reparador da Terra
.
Felstone Epaulets
Some side-by-side comparisons of the various mail sets I've mentioned here. Key is below.
(1) is the "classic" set. Everything from this setup drops in Scarlet Monetary.
Item list for (1)
All 6 pieces of
Chain of the Scarlet Crusade
,
Elmo do Berserker em Fúria
,
Ombreiras de Herodes
, and
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
(2) includes some of my favorite pieces, including
Elmo do Grande Chefe
and
Palas Dracoflama
.
Item list for (2)
All of
Chain of the Scarlet Crusade
except the boots with
Elmo do Grande Chefe
,
Palas Dracoflama
,
Grevas Papa-jardas
, and
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
(3) is the
Campeão Escarlate
look-alike set; this is the best you're going to do to match this guy's look while wearing mail. (3) also shows what the set looks like with only a red shirt/tabard on, if you prefer a chestpiece that has no visible arms.
Item list for (3)
All of
Chain of the Scarlet Crusade
except the chest with
Elmo do Cavaleiro Sangrento
,
Omoplatas Magníficas
,
Camisa do Amputador
, and
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
(4) is the set you can probably put together in about 20 minutes, if you're just getting started. Everything except the pants/tabard should be easily found on your AH.
Item list for (4)
Chain of the Scarlet Crusade
minus the chest and boots, plus
Dragonas do Assolador
,
Capacete do Khan
/
Elmo Triunfante
,
Botas do Saqueador
/
Galochas Pantaneiras
,
Camisa Vermelha Estilosa
, and (of course!)
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
Plate
So you wear plate...
Plate wearing Scarlet Crusaders have a few options available to them. So your second step is to decide which of these fine folks you'd prefer to resemble! (Don't forget your first step:
get thee a tabard!
)
The first plate model is
Pope
's
excellent attempt
at recreating the
Scarlet mail set
for plate wearers. If you're nostalgic for lvl 39, when you were tanking SM Cath and bitching when a hunter ninjaed your loot, this is the set for you.
Helm/Shoulders/Chest/Gloves
: For all 4 of these pieces, Pope recommends the
Ragesteel set
. It's a blacksmith crafted set, so it'll require you to come up with some Burning Crusade mats, but if it's not easier than instance farming, at least it's more certain. Since the chestpiece isn't very visible under the tabard, you can save yourself some mats there if you're feeling stingy. You'll also have to find a BS who's either a collector or who's been playing since BC, since the patterns are drops that require a bit of farming.
NB: Remember that you can
armory stalk
people's professions, so you don't just have to spam trade. Go out looking for older guilds on your server; their players might have these patterns from back in the day.
Pants/Boots
: For these 2 pieces, Pope recommends pieces of the
Bloodforged Plate
. They're both world drops, so you'll have to chase them on your AH. If you happen to get lucky, though, either the gloves or the chestpiece could substitute for the Ragesteel ones just fine.
The second plate model is a
Guardião Escarlate
, one of the forsaken (since the Cataclysm) Scarlet Crusaders who guards the Scarlet Enclave in Eastern Plaguelands.
For several pieces of this set (chest, legs, perhaps belt and boots), you'll want items from the
Hyperion Plate set
, which will probably require some expense on your AH, as this is quite a popular set of plate armor.
Chest
:
Armadura Hyperion
plus a
Gibão Escarlate Filigranado
underneath the chestpiece.
Legs
:
Coxotes Hyperion
,
Perneiras de Cristalava
, and
Calças de Kório
share a model; the first is a world drop green, the second a drop from BRD, and the last crafted by blacksmiths.
Belt
: No belt is an exact match, because unfortunately the belt worn by almost all members of the Scarlet Crusade doesn't exist. Your best fits are either the world drop
Cinturão Hyperion
or the crafted
Cinto de Tório
Hyperion Girdle
Thorium Belt
Shoulders
: Your best match here is the
Espaldares de Placas de Uvuros
, a quest reward from Shadowmoon Valley.
Gloves
: Here, you'll want the
Manoplas de Placa Abrasadoras
, a vanilla crafted item.
Boots
: There isn't a great option here, as the boots worn by almost every member of the Scarlet Crusade (like the belt), don't exist for players. You can wear the
Grevas Hyperion
/
Botas de Kório
, which match the rest of the Hyperion set, or
Escarpes Forjados em Sangue
, a more simple, red boot. Both are world drops, so watch your AH.
Hyperion Greaves
Bloodforged Sabatons
Finally, the glamor shot. (1) is the Scarlet Warder again. (2) is our best approximation of him.
The 3rd plate model (though quite similar to the 2nd) is a
Alto-clérigo Escarlate
, one of the few remaining Scarlet Crusaders in the Western Plaguelands.
You'll want several items (chest, legs, gloves, perhaps belt and boots) from the
Hyperion Plate set
, which will probably require some expense on your AH, as this is quite a popular set of plate armor.
Chest
:
Armadura Hyperion
plus a
Camisa Vermelha de Operário
or
Camisa do Amputador
underneath the chestpiece.
Legs
:
Coxotes Hyperion
,
Perneiras de Cristalava
, and
Calças de Kório
share a model; the first is a world drop green, the second a drop from BRD, and the last crafted by blacksmiths.
Gloves
: Another Hyperion piece here:
Manoplas Hyperion
.
Belt
: No belt is an exact match, because unfortunately the belt worn by almost all members of the Scarlet Crusade doesn't exist. Your best fits are either the world drop
Cinturão Hyperion
or the crafted
Cinto de Tório
Hyperion Girdle
Thorium Belt
Shoulders
: Your best match here is the
Espaldares de Placas de Uvuros
, a quest reward from Shadowmoon Valley.
Boots
: There isn't a great option here, as the boots worn by almost every member of the Scarlet Crusade (like the belt), don't exist for players. You can wear the
Grevas Hyperion
, which match the rest of the Hyperion set, or
Escarpes Forjados em Sangue
, a more simple, red boot. Both are world drops, so watch your AH.
Hyperion Greaves
Bloodforged Sabatons
Finally, the glamor shot. (1) is the Scarlet High Clerist again. (2) is the best available match.
The 4th plate model is a
Pretoriano Escarlate
; he works with the
Guardião Escarlate
in EPL.
Head
: The helm is a
Elmo de Furiaço
.
Shoulders
: The shoulders match these items:
Brafoneiras dos Sangrescama
/
Palas de Khan'aish
/
Palas do Conquistador
.
Unfortunately, there's no match for the rest of the beautiful black/gold/red armor these NPCs are wearing. I'll update this space if I find any.
The final plate modes is
Comandante Escarlate Mograine
, who fights side by side with
Alta-inquisidora Cristalba
in the final boss encounter in SM Cath. Arise, my Champion!
Helm
: Unfortunately, there's no red headband like Mograine wears that's available for plate transmog*. Your options are either 1) wear
Coroa do Armipotente
, a gold plate headband, or 2) don't show your helm.
Shoulders
:
Dragonas da Cruzada do Deserto
are the exact match for Mograine's shoulders; they drop in AQ40.
Brafoneiras Hyperion
are a close match you can watch for on the AH.
Chest
:
Peitoral Leonino
is Mograine's chest, which you can get from a quest in Blade's Edge Mountains.
Gloves
: There aren't any perfect plate matches* for the gloves he wears, but there are a few close options.
Manoplas de Placa Abrasadoras
(a vanilla crafted item) is your best bet, picking up the shape and the design and just being a *little* too orange.
Manoplas Hyperion
is similar to the Fiery Plate, but doesn't match the shape as well. Finally, if you think the previous 2 options are a little too orange, there's always something simple and red like
Luvas de Furiaço
.
Fiery Plate Gauntlets
Hyperion Gauntlets
Ragesteel Gloves
Belt
: The best is definitely the hardest part of these sets to match, since Mograine (like almost all of the Scarlet Crusade) wears a belt that doesn't exist. I'll give you a few options, though. First,
Cinto de Tório
is a simple red belt. Second,
Cinturão Hyperion
is red/gold, still quite simple. Finally,
Cinto do Aniquilador Arenoso
/
Cinturão de Placa Lançatroz
(A only) is more elaborate, but matches the scroll work on the gloves and boots.
Thorium Belt
Hyperion Girdle
Belt of the Sand Reaver/Stormpike Plate Girdle
Pants
: The best match for Mograine's pants are
Guarda-pernas de Placas do Arauto Estelar
, another BC quest item, this time from Netherstorm.
Boots
:
Botas da Profecia Cumprida
are a close match to Mograine's boots and also drop from AQ40.
Finally, yay, more comparison shots! (1) is Mograine again. (2) is the best match available while wearing all plate, so the best match you can get for transmog. (3) uses non-plate items*, so it's for RP purposes only.
*Non-plate items*
Unfortunately, there are a couple of pieces of Mograine's set that exist in game, just don't exist in plate. This means you won't be able to transmog them, but I wanted to include then in case people were interested for purely RP purposes.
Helm
:
Bandana Imponente
or
Bandana do Keeshan
are the red headbands that match what Mograine wears.
Gloves
:
Manoplas da Divindade
, which drop off of Mograine, are an exact match for his gloves.
So now that you've got your armor
You've spend many hours farming for drops and obsessing over color matches, but you've finally assembled your amazing Scarlet armor. You might be thinking now, "What's left? What am I supposed to do now, go outside? Does this milk smell funny to you? How long ago did my wife and kids leave?"
Oh, my friend, so much remains. And yeah, definitely don't drink that milk. Yikes.
Weapons!
So you like to stab things...
You'll definitely need a weapon transmog to go with your fancy new Scarlet gear. Some of the sets above have weapons that go along with them, but if your set didn't include a weapon (or if you aren't using a compatible weapon to the one that fits your set), I'll try to set you up with something so you can start bashing the enemies of <The Scarlet Crusade> with impunity.
NB: A great place to start your search is
Blackwing Lair
. BWL weapons feature red/gold/flame designs and generally look awesome with Scarlet gear. There are weapons of almost every type there, so check BWL first, and then if you don't like what it has to offer, proceed to the suggestions below.
Axes
If you don't like the BWL axes,
Machadinha de Ferrovil
is awesome looking with Scarlet sets and has cheap mats, so it's easily available.
Fel Iron Hatchet
Maces
For caster maces, I really like
Mão da Retidão
. It doesn't match the red color, but it's a classic SM design. There's also
Martelo Ventobento
, which is a one-handed mace with the same art, if you want to dual wield them for dps.
Hand of Righteousness
For dps maces, if you happen to be a blacksmith, you can craft
Martelo de Guerra Forjado em Lava
, which looks awesome but is unfortunately BoP, so blacksmiths only.
Lavaforged Warhammer
There are also quite a few black and red square maces, like
Martelo de Rubídio
. The others are BS crafted items (
Mão de Ébano
,
Martelo Rúnico
, and
Persuasor
), but at least they're BoE.
Rubidium Hammer
Daggers
For caster/MH daggers,
Adaga do Sofrimento
,
Adaga do Kubit
H/
Adaga do Kubit
A, and
Adaga do Relâmpago
are reasonable options. If you want something more exciting (that holds up better under
Encantamento de Torrente de Poder - Arma
), you might try
Lâmina da Mente Nathrezim
.
Nathrezim Mindblade
There's also
Lâmina Hipnótica
, which, while not very visually impressive, is a classic SM drop.
Hypnotic Blade
For one-handed daggers,
Atiçador de Tortura
deserves a mention, as it's another classic SM weapon wielded by
Interrogador Vishas
.
Torturing Poker
I really have to plug the BWL weapons here again, as
Lâmina Dendragônia
is awesome looking. However, Rag's
Lâmina da Perdição
also looks pretty excellent and look, here's a rogue with one of each!
What luck!
Swords
Aniquilador Ferro Negro
is a nice crafted sword, though the mats are a bit difficult to come by.
Dark Iron Reaver
Devorador do Sol
is always amazing looking, and not too difficult to farm out of heroic
Mecanar
.
The Sun Eater
Staff
There are lots of options, but I like
Cajado Faiscante do Bosque Brilhante
/
Báculo Invencível
which matches the colors and fits the theme.
Glowing Brightwood Staff
Polearm
Serra Maldita do Mão Negra
/
Lâmina de Guerra de Lantresor
A/
Lâmina de Guerra de Lantresor
H is a solid polearm choice.
Blackhand Doomsaw
Swords
Montante de Ferrovil
is a great looking red sword.
Fel Iron Greatsword
Gume do Cataclismo
looks good as well, and you know how ladies love it when you have a *huge* sword
Cataclysm's Edge
Axes
Assolador
/
Machado do Sabotador
is the classic SM 2 handed axe.
Ravager
Aniquilador Enfurecido
/
Machado Grande Colossal
/
Machado de Guerra Abrasador
also looks very nice with Scarlet gear. It has the same color scheme as
Assolador
, just a different model, so it might be nice to pair the two on a
Punhos de Titã
fury warrior.
Rage Reaver
Finally,
Carniceiro Dupla-lâmina
is a great looking
Horde-only
axe that drops off the 4th boss of regular or heroic 25 man
Prova do Cruzado
.
Dual-Blade Butcher
Maces
For maces, you have quite a few great options.
Odiosa
is bad-ass looking - black, red, and vicious.
Hatebringer
The
Martelo de Halaani
is another option, adding gold to the black/red look.
Halaani Hammer
The
Marrão Petracardo
is a very different, much simpler model, but still in keeping with the Scarlet scheme.
Thornstone Sledgehammer
Finally, if you're lucky enough to have a
Sulfuras, a Mão Extinta
on hand, both the regular and heroic versions look fiery and gold and amazing.
Sulfuras, the Extinguished Hand
Shields
The
Égide do Comandante Escarlate
is an obvious shield transmog for resto/ele shamans.
Aegis of the Scarlet Commander
Off-Hands
Guia Médico de Lordaeron
is my favorite OH for Scarlet sets.
Lordaeron Medical Guide
Guia das Incursões
isn't bad either.
Dungeoneering Guide
I really prefer book off-hands, so these might be a *bit* biased. However, if you prefer a generic "orb",
Orbe à Prova de Fogo
is an easily obtainable red one.
Fireproof Orb
Finally, if you like the
Interrogador Vishas
torture-y vibe, there's
Vara Medicinal
/
Bastão de Fogo Derretido
, an off-hand that makes it look like you're holding one of his
Atiçador de Tortura
s. If you happen to be using a dagger in your main hand, you can even look like a dual-weilding, casting/healing/stabbing machine!
Medicine Stick/Rod of Molten Fire
Bow
Arco de Caça Talbuque
is by far the best red/gold bow and in my opinion, the best red/gold ranged weapon of the lot.
Talbuk Hunting Bow
Crossbows
Options aren't great, but there's
Besta de Antebraço
if you prefer a gold look and
Glória do Atirador
/
Besta Energizada
/
Besta Sangrenta
if you prefer red.
gold crossbow
red crossbow
Guns
There are lots of options here, depending on what you're looking for.
single-barreled -
Bacamarte Ricochete
/
Carabina de Rosarães
double-barreled -
Espingarda Cospe-bala
long scope -
Rifle Megatiro
/
Rifle do Mestre de Matilha
/
Rifle de Francoatirador
short scope -
Pistola Petrificante
/
Mosquete Seguro
/
Pistola de Pederneira
/
Mosquete do Rastreador
/
a bunch of other Wrath lvl uncommon guns
(The first is a horde quest item. For alliance, I've listed the few you're most likely to see but if you like this particular model, check your AH for the whole list. Only the Wrath lvl guns are red; the lower lvl ones are brown.)
red/wood -
Rifle da Falange Sangrenta
and finally, a ridiculous one -
Atirador de Projéteis Magnetizado
single-barreled
red/wood
ridiculous!!
Shirts, Cloaks, and Glamour Shots
So what's left?
Red shirts are a nice accompaniment to Scarlet sets where the chest/gloves/bracers don't entirely cover your arms. Since you'll be wearing a
Tabardo da Cruzada Escarlate
, frequently the only visible part of your chestpiece will be the sleeves. If that's the case, you can feel free to find a chest where the arms aren't visible and wear one of the many available
red shirts
instead!
Personally, I like
Camisa do Amputador
or
Camisa Vermelha de Operário
, which are crimson rather than the pinkish shade of many of their "red" counterparts.
You've got a lot of options here, and this one is very much personal preference. I don't actually like to show a cloak with my Scarlet sets, since most of the Scarlet NPCs don't. However, if you're interested in your cloak options, here are some cloaks that fit the Scarlet theme.
Please note that I haven't listed all the options, only some of most common ones. If you don't find anything you like here, there's
Wowhead's cloak guide
and your class's cloak models on Icy Veins (Ex:
priest
and
warrior
). Between those two, you should find something that satisfies your insatiable cloak lust.
Short Cloaks
Your options in short cloaks include colors (red and gold, or course, but what about white? black? chain link?) and whether you want the cloak in 1 piece or split down the middle. Some examples of each:
Manto Infernal
/
Manto Ígneo
Manto do Khan
Manto do Saqueador
/
Manto da Brigada
Manto Régio
Manto de Pintura de Guerra
red, gold border
red, gold border, chain top
gold, red border, split
white, red/gold border, split
red, gold/steel border

Long Cloaks
If you want a long cloak, you have color options as well as more design choices. However, there are no red/gold long split cloaks available.
Manto da Impulsividade
/
Manto do Traído
Mortalha de Esperança do Kharmaa
Manto de Sangreluna
/
Manto Couroférreo
Capa Recuperada da Ofensiva Escarlate
Manto Vitorioso da Forja Titânica

white, red/gold border
red, gold/steel border
red/gold, stained glass
red/gold, drapey

Remember, these are just a few examples of the cloak options out there. If you don't like anything on this page, don't despair, there are tons of cloaks to choose from, so many that there's no way for this guide to include them all.
NB: If you're lucky enough to have a Horde-only ToC
Tributo à insanidade (10 jogadores)
or
Tributo à insanidade (25 jogadores)
cloak (such as
Astúcia de Sylvana
or
Manto de Lâminas Serrilhadas
) left over from Wrath, they look stunning with the Scarlet set but can no longer be obtained.
Feel free to suggest additions to this guide or show off your own Scarlet set in the comments. I'd love to see what people come up with. There are some good suggestions for taking excellent screenshots in the
wowhead tips section
and in
adashiel's profile
. Remember, there's no point in having your character look amazing if you can't make everyone else sick with jealousy!
Conclusion
So that's it! Now you, too, can be live the fabulous life of a Scarlet Crusader.
People who've been so helpful it's ridiculous:
I couldn't have even begun to make this guide without Kel's
Guide on Writing Guides
. I hate to think what a ridiculous mess this would have been, without Kel's step-by-step instructions and even help over email.
The
Icy Veins transmog guide
, where most of my images came from and where I did hours of color and model matching. Srsly, amazing work there and I can't recommend it highly enough.
Tons of people all over wowhead (like
Pope
,
these guys
, and even
wowhead staff
) who saw their favorite members of the Scarlet Crusade and said "I wanna live like that!"
If you find any mistakes or have any suggestions/additions, feel free to leave them in the comments and I'll do what I can to keep this guide up to date. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of coding making it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
