I soloed this entire quest as a level 58 paladin - it's not that hard, you just have to pay attention to health. This quest should be done at the same time as Broodling Essence (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4726), since that quest requires you to collect items from Black Broodlings by putting an aura on them before you kill them.

This quest shouldnt be hard for any hunter.. I soloed this quest at level 53 (Pets Own =P)

Was able to solo this as a level 57 Enhancement Shaman.
Used GoA, Stoneskin and Searing Totem on all Dragonspawns.

Dragonspawns were a bit hard but manageable, they hit hard so I just tried to keep my health around 1.5k-2k using Lesser Healing wave while praying for WF crits.

Black Dragon was easy, even though I wasn't able to stop his/her Flame Breath using Earthshock, same totem setup as with em Dragonspawns.

I just finished soloing this as a level 55 Frost Mage without dying once.

Dragonspawns require some good Ice Barrier timing, maybe a health pot if you don't get a lot of crits, and an Ice Block+Elemental distraction if you're just plain unlucky.
Black Drake will require your water elemental, ice block, a potion, fire ward, ice barrier, and luck. Frost Nova doesn't seem to have any effect.

soloed as level 52 shadowpriest, only hard part was the Black Drake who was immune to fear, but after some kiting he was down to.

solo by 53 shadow priest.
p.s. Black Wyrmkin isnt so strong they cast fireballs like Black Broodling near 300-350 dmg they just have more hp.

The Black Drake is also immune to entangling roots... found that out the hard way! >.>

easy solo as a 56 demonology 'lock. intercept w/ felguard, curse of shadow (maybe elements and soul fire if you're destro), corruption, immolate, shadowbolt, you know the rest.

the drakes, however, as mentioned previously are immune to fear, as well as intercept and fire damage. i used CoA, corruption and spammed shadowbolts until i took aggro, then drained life.

really good coin and xp. i got an average of 20s and 528 non-rested xp each on the wyrmkins.

Black dragon is so slow... You can basicaly put corruption and CoA and run in circle. (I had boots from AB, tho)

I'm level 55 Night Elf Hunter and i killed all these dragonkins without help or potions. Aimed shot->Trap->Aimed Shot->Pet+Attack

well as a 57 fire mage, this quest isn't quite as easy as others have posted. I've having issues with the black drake since he's immune to fire and the others are resistant so spells aren't doing quite as much damage. Time to call in the cavalry (yay for hunter friends)

solo'd 54 frost mage all was ez fire ward on wyrmkin and counterpell.. elemental and ice block on dragonspawn.. and dampen magic the whole time

Solo'd by a 51 Feral druid. Lots of stun-to-heal, rooting and what not but definitely do-able.

HAHAHAHA solo'ed as 54 HOLY pally =] suhnap people. With the drakes all i did was SoR, JoR, SoR again, hit, hit, hit, hit, JoR, SoR, holy shock, hammer of wrath, dead =]

So simple didn't even need heals.

It seems in 2.3 they've changed the Black Drakes, Black Dragonspawn, and the Wrymkin from elite to non elite.

These Broodlings have a wide Aggro radius as they also did in Redridge, hard to avoid even as a high level. Make sure you are prepared with a lot of Fire Resistance.

The Black Drake is also immune to Hammer of Justice, making me assume that any CC will fail on this target.

As of patch 2.3:

They have changed Black Dragonspawns, Black Drake and Black Wyrmkins to non-elite
The quest now awards 7900 experience points, instead of 5450

Found them starting at 77,28 and heading east from there. This quest is pretty easy since patch 2.3 so don't be scared off by the "get a group" type messages here or on thott.

Agreed... I am currently leveling a Shaman. The lack of this quest chain has hardly been a roadblock.

It's a shame this quest chain was removed. Story-wise, it was one of the more interesting quest chains in the game. I've included a link to the Wowwiki article describing the entire chain for those of you unfortunate enough never to have completed the quest chain before, (one with a very interesting ending I might add).

Life in the Burning Steppes is rife with conflict.

Just look at this place! We know very little of what happened to these buildings, but we do know that at one time, before the great explosion, this was all part of the Redridge mountain range.

Enough lamenting! We have a problem, <name>. You may have noticed the dragonkin below this ridge. We need assistance in pushing them back. Kill as many as you can and return to me. Succeed and perhaps we can talk of other things.
