Archaeology on Beta Servers (12942)
Hey there, it's your local silverly reporter with another batch of
very
interesting stuff -
Archaeology
! The brand new shiny secondary profession was added to beta build 12942 (the latest one, if you are reading this fairly recently after it is posted), and I've had the chance to go test it out. Let me tell you, it's absolutely amazing! I may be a little biased, because it's new and different from all the other professions, but I honestly thing it's a very interesting thing in and of itself.
But I do tend to ramble - let me show you a few things about it!

Official Cataclysm Ashenvale Preview
Blizzard has once again graced us with another zone preview - this time with quest designers
Eric Maloof
and
Steve Burke
, who talk about the changes coming to
Vale Gris
in Cataclysm. Eric and Steve go on to talk about the new volcano that has erupted in northern Ashenvale, and how the Horde are taking over key points that were once held by the Alliance. They wrap up the preview by discussing what changed most in Ashenvale, and according to Eric and Steve the terrain is less frustrating than before but the story hasn't changed much—other than being much more intense!
You can check out the entire preview after the break and while you're at it you can check out all of our screenshots of Ashenvale in our
Cataclysm guide!

Flight Master's License
and this skill will be required to fly in both Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor which includes all the new zones.
Update:
Zarhym has updated the original post stating that the new flight skill will cost
.
We’ve added a new flying skill called Flight Master's License. When World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is released, players who purchase the expansion will see this skill available from flight trainers for 250 gold once they reach level 60. This new skill is required for flying around all Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms zones, including the new level 80-85 zones.

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12942) 3D Models Added!
New Cataclysm model goodness! No "major character" models this patch, and unfortunately no new armor sets like in our
previous post
. However, as a firm appreciator of raptors I must give this latest update two thumbs up for the awesome, updated skeletal raptor mount model - even if it doesn't make any sense. Then again, we ride on horses made of stars so what's my problem with a skeleton? At least it has
real bones
.
We've got a few new NPC models, including the
Terrastra
, the Earth Twilight Ascendant! I've included the previous Ascendants as well, so we can see the Twilight Ascendant Council in full form! I can't wait to see these bad boys in
Bastião do Crepúsculo
... erm, assuming they're all boys. Do they even have genders? I've confused myself. Anyway, check out all of the models below!

Cataclysm Icon Update (Build 12942)! New Armor Icons, Archaeology, Herbalism and more!
Once again we've found a ton of new icons added in the latest Cataclysm beta patch! Admittedly, most of these icons aren't as cool icons as ones in our
previous post
, but there's definitely some awesome additions this time around! There are pretty cool Archaeology artifact icons and some pretty detailed herbs! It looks like quite a few abilities have gotten new icons, as well, my favorite being for the Death Knight talent
Febre Escarlate
:
Hah. Check out all of the new icons after the break!

The Weekly Marmot - End of Expansion Raiding Options
This week, I answer a question from
Damingo, the Prairie Dog Lord
(yeaaahhhhh...) and talk a bunch about end of expansion raiding from a raider's perspective. When you really want to raid but guilds keep falling apart around you, what options do you have? Do you just give up, or is there another way?

Skaarjonic from the WoW Official Magazine here!

Blizzard Updates Troll & Worgen Druid Forms, We've Got 3D Models!
Blizzard has released a sneak peek at the
Troll
and
Worgen

I want stripes! Why you do dis, mon? We've also got 3D models for all of the new troll and druid feral forms so you can check out the awesome new fur styling in full detail!
We've applied some finishing touches to the new cat and bear forms available to troll and worgen druids in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. We’re excited to share them with you today.

BFF Report - Minecraft - No, It Isn't Another WoW Clone..
That's the first thing I thought when this game was recommended to me, but can you blame me? With the constant onslaught of free2play WoW rip-offs, seeing anything "____Craft" is suspect. Minecraft is nothing close to what I had expected. It is a sandbox environment where you're given the ultimate set of virtual Legos, and to quote the website, "..a game about placing blocks while running from skeletons."
If I can sum it up even further, it's like FarmVille plus zombies, minus the shame... and minus the FarmVille, knawmean? To top it off, the classic version is free and runs in your browser.

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12857): New Glyph UI + Eclipse Bar Redesign
You may have remembered hearing that
Glyphs
were changing from consumable items to learnable skills. Last build we saw the makings of that—now, when you use a glyph, it goes into your general tab of the spellbook, ready to be used whenever you want to place it. Well in this latest build Blizzard has taken it a step futher and given the glyphs tab of your talent frame a complete makeover!
First off they've vastly increased the size of the frame—it's now the same size as the talent frame. You now have
NINE
glyphs to select: 3 Prime, 3 Major, and 3 Minor. On the right side of the panel you will have a list of all learned and unlearned glyphs. Blizzard was also kind enough to add some advanced glyph searching! No need to scroll down the list forever trying to find that one pesky glyph to switch in.
