New Models on the PTR
So Patch 3.3 is up on the PTRs, as the
Blog
has been covering for the past week or so.
In our excitement, we've been digging through the model files in our PTR client, trying to find some interesting stuff. We decided to plug them into our
3D model viewer
, so you guys could play with them too!
Join us after the break to see Jaina Proudmoore's new model, as well as Shadowmourne and Quel'Delar, in full 3D! Now there are a lot of models that aren't represented here—we're just digging through them for now. But we'll have posts up soon for T10, as well as many others. :)

Battle.net Mandatory Starting Nov. 11 (US) / Nov. 12 (EU)
UPDATE – 12 Oct:
It looks like Blizzard employees have no doubt made it clear the merges will be mandatory starting next month. Players on North American servers will need to merge their accounts before
11th November
, and players on EU servers will need to merge their accounts before
12th November
if they have not done so already. The threads are located
here (US)
and
here (EU)
.
We all know this day was coming, but we didn't know exactly
when
it would happen until now: You will need to merge your WoW account in order to access it before November 11th/12th, or else your account will be inaccessible. This report came directly from Boubouille on
MMO-Champion
, and the source came directly from
EU Blizzard's Battle.net FAQ
.
The quoted FAQ and article come right after the break!

Gnomes Back in Gnomeregan?
There have been many jokes about the gnomes not being able to take their capital Gnomeregan back, despite the fact that there are quite a few gnome NPCs with level and gear sufficient enough to obliterate every single trogg and leper gnome in immediate proximity. Well, we
may
get to see the end of those jokes in
Cataclysm
! Some two weeks ago "PC Gamer" magazine revealed some new information about the upcoming expansion, but it seems like one of the things was majorly overlooked: a hint that gnomes might be going back home!
Here's what the short caption on the image reads:
After 5 years of players purging Gnomeregan of its irradiated inhabitants, Gnomes may finally be able to reclaim their home as a new capital city for Alliance... until they mess it up again.
Without jumping to conclusions, it is highly probable (in my opinion at least) that Gnomeregan will be introduced in Cataclysm. Whether it is going to be there at launch, or players will go through a series of phasing quests to "purge" the place for good is of little relevance. The only problem is that we may very well get our super excited

Blizzard Releases Tier 10 Set Bonuses on PTR (Updated 10-10!)
Update!
Blizzard has been taking user feedback into consideration and has made changes to some set bonuses. We will stay on top of these updates as they are posted! :)
I'm sure many of you guys noticed Blizzard's
Tier 10 Sneak Peek
that we
blogged about
earlier this afternoon, in which Blizzard showed off some of the new class tier armor designs and proved to us, yet again, that the person responsible for designing leather helms is a nutjob (just kidding!).
They have since elaborated on this information by releasing the Tier 10 set bonuses, which have been released for each class' respective item sets. Blizzard is requesting that users (especially those currently testing on the PTR) provide them with any feedback, as these items will soon be available on the PTR for additional testing. Theorycrafters, hardcore raiders, and casuals alike are all given their chance to get their ideas thrown out there!

Blizzard Wants Feedback on PTR Nameplate Changes (Updated!)
The updates are coming fast and furious, and I'm working on another post for later today, so I'm just going to take a moment to copy/paste this update from our friends at
ZAM.com
:
Those of you on the public test realms may notice that Blizzard has made some changes to the way creature and character nameplates are displayed in World of Warcraft. Zarhym actually
outlined
these updates on the official PTR forum and is asking for feedback. Here's the list of changes straight from the blue post:
The range at which you can see the nameplates is now much longer.
You can no longer see the nameplates through objects which block line of sight.
Instead of the nameplates trying to sort themselves, they just overlap. We think this makes them more useful for very large groups (example: Onyxia whelps).
Have you noticed these changes on the PTR? What do you think of them in PvE and PvP?
Edit:
Some clarification has been added on the official forums:
As long as you are able to peer into the doorway of a room, you will see name

Character Bios Posted on the Official Site
Now this is interesting. It makes sense that these two characters should be the first to appear on any sort of "Character Bios" list, since they're the ones who are going to be helping us bring down Arthas in 3.3—but I sincerely hope they fill these two out with more bios for the other characters.
The official link on the WoW Europe site is

Or, as always, you can read the text here after the break. :)

Tier 10 Armor Preview!
Man, you look away for a second, and Blizzard releases a T10 armor preview on the official site!
Only Death Knights, Druids, Hunters and Warriors so far, but still...looking very good. Be sure to check the high resolution images, because they often show them from different angles.
As the threats within Icecrown Citadel continue to take shape, so do the rewards for the brave souls who seek to face them. We’ve just released a first look at some of
the new tier-10 armor sets
that will be available to intrepid adventurers upon the release of the Icecrown Citadel raid dungeon. The preview contains all of the sets that we’ve completed so far, and you can click an image to see each set from different angles. We’ll add more classes’ sets as we continue to develop and polish them, so be sure to check back for updates.

Patch Notes Updated—And Some Interesting Haste Changes
We've updated the
Patch Notes
with new info!
All of the new data has been conveniently marked with a "New! (10/7):" flag, and the top has a section for the last date it was updated. Looks like a new PTR Build on the horizon, so stay tuned for more dataz!
Haste Rating and DoTS/HoTs
In other news, casters may be interested in
this post
from Ghostcrawler, which discusses proposed changes to DoTs, HoTs, and haste rating. They're talking about a system which actually lets the spells tick faster—and are considering testing the technology out on
,
, and
. None of this is confirmed yet, it's just something they're testing—but still very interesting to explore the way things work over there.

Pit of Saron Impressions
So after much struggle and not a single WoW reinstall, I finally managed to get my PTR Client up and working. Eager to test the Pit of Saron, I transferred my
paladin
(who is actually a tank, so his Ret gear isn't that great), I went to the place, got a group together in a few mere instants... and could not enter. Apparently having done so many phasing quests in Icecrown, I was not able to see the instance portals. Which I fixed by simply copying a pre-made character, paladin tank as well, and, oh wonders - I was able to enter the instance soon after my first failure!
So this blog is going to be about my first impressions of the place. A word of caution before we start - I was not able to fight the final boss, Scourgelord Tyrannus. He was just not there. Kind people in the LFG channel politely informed me that he should be there, so I guess I had just encountered a bug. I will try again later and update the blog with impressions of the fight against him as well.

3.3 Speculations (Part 1)
So just a couple days back I brought you some juicy
Quel'Delar Speculations
(because we all know the blog wasn't actually about the PTR coming up). Well, I was talking to Corgan yesterday, and apparently he is really good at digging interesting stuff out of the game files and
other DBs
. So we just kind of sat
there
, he was throwing links at me, I was reading as quickly as possible, and then there were some promises and implications that my immediate descendants would suffer an... interesting fate, if I failed to post all that in a blog.
So here it is. The blog is going to be really spoiler heavy. I am only going to cover Quel'Delar in this part (exploring other interesting quest chains, and some interesting spells too in the later issues), so if you are fine with that - go ahead. If not... I just wrote a very long blog for you not to read :P

Hey there, this is our latest Wowhead Weekly Review which includes the 28th, 29th, and 30th all in one! Also, we're sorry about the late WWR post everyone! All of our schedules were screwed up, and the new patch only further pushed back our release. Forgive us! (According to my calculations, this blog has three WWRs assembled, namely #28, #29 and #30. Yay for us hitting another milestone!)

PTR Players: We Need Your Dataz!
That's right Wowhead users, we need your data!
For those of you who don't already know, Wowhead keeps its database listings up-to-date using a program called the
Wowhead Client
. This is a small program which automatically installs and updates an addon (which we call the Wowhead Looter) in your WoW folder, and takes notes on all the items, NPCs and such that you encounter in the game. Then, when you run the Client the next time, it uploads that data to our server—and we put it up on the website.
Those of you who are playing on the Public Test Realms, we need your data now more than ever! Please remember that the Wowhead Client
does not locate your PTR installation on its own
. You need to do that manually if you want to upload PTR data—and the faster we get the PTR data, the sooner we can provide you with PTR searches, PTR talent calcs, and so on!
If you need help setting the Wowhead Client up to work with your PTR installation, we've included some convenient instructions after the break.

Patch 3.3: Orcs in Undercity
So
Corgan
was kind enough to point out this interesting post on
World of Raids
.
Usually the fuss is about the new gear, the new instances, and such—but one of the things I'm most interested in is the way the actual game world changes around us—and 3.3 is bringing us some interesting changes in that department...
