Affliction Warlock: When to play aff, and the do's and don'ts of the spec

Affliction’s strengths in raids are mostly multi-target, especially 3 or more targets, and its mobility is insane compared to Destro or Demo, and most specs in the game. It is a spec that thrives on fights with adds that can give you high stacks of wrath of consumption and reap stacks.

Some examples of the fights affliction is very good on are: Renferal, the spiders although infrequent provide you with some minor WoC uptime, and the fight has a large amount of moving around. Odyn, While affliction is not that great at runebearer damage if your guild needs it that is; BUT you get WoC stacks from them, and that’s enough to get it close to Destro in phase 1 / 2 cleave. It’s got straight up better ST and better mobility for phase 3.

But, Afflictions most important strength arguably is Absolute Corruption cheesing. Especially on fights like Dragons / Helya are excellent examples of fights for the affliction spec to shine, also AC lets you do ungodly damage to the dragons, and the tentacles (keep in mind that this isn't padding), as both fights have adds that allow you to maintain the 5-stack buff from Wrath of Consumption for a large portion of the fight, both fights also have a decent amount of movement.

Now here's where affliction can fall short

Affliction is a spec with absolutely Zero burst potential

The spec is arguably terrible on target swapping

When running with Soul Effigy builds, the spec feels clunky

The spec is far too reliant on 100% uptimes of both the Wrath of Consumption and Reap Soul buffs to deal top end DPS; if a warlock cannot keep these at 100% their damage throughput plummets.

The strongest trait on the Artifact by far is Wrath of Consumption by a mile and a half

The spec is crippled by RNG, inconsistent damage from pull to pull, and Awkward Soul Shard generation

You speak of "Wrath of Corruption" as if it is a spell which you can cast up to 5 stacks. There is no "Wrath of Corruption" spell in the spell book that I can see. "Wrath of Corruption" is only on the Artifact Weapon. Perhaps you mean Unstable Affliction which is a castable spell that can stack 5 times.
